Description

“But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” –1 Corinthians 13:13

Seeing the world through a lens of love is not easy, but when you commit to this practice you will begin to see God’s power move in surprising ways. Through the Eyes of Love shows us how operating from a place of love is the most effective way to walk in the Spirit. This book will help you grow in spiritual authority and learn how to speak powerful words.

As someone who heard God’s voice at a young age, Shawn has been diligent to continue to seek the Lord’s voice for more than two decades as a sought-after international teacher. In this book, Shawn shares multiple first-person stories of people he has met and spoken to over the years. Whether sitting at a table eating dinner with billionaires or pulling over on the highway to give a construction worker a word of knowledge, Shawn is amazed at how often God wants to speak personally to people, from every area of life.

If you pursue spiritual gifts—especially words of knowledge—you will begin to realize that knowing God’s thoughts shifts the lens through which you see people and culture. In fact, being on the receiving end of a direct message from God will open your spiritual eyes. It’s like seeing a color you never knew existed.

As you sincerely pray and ask God what He wants to say to your coworkers, your neighbors, and your city, you will be surprised at how often He speaks.

I've heard Shawn Bolz preaching when I did the School of Supernatural Heroes in The Netherlands. At that time I read his book Translating God: Hearing God's Voice For Yourself And The World Around You, which is a great introduction into the prophetic and learning to hear God's voice. In Through the Eyes of Love, Shawn goes a little deeper into the prophetic ministry and its primary revelatory gifts. It's all about sharing God's heart and His nature. Shawn shares stories about his own experiences with prophesying in a vulnerable way. Additionally, he has added stories of people he knows and their experiences. This shows how creative God is with the prophetic ministry and they all have one thing in common: they all come from love. His love.

Through the Eyes of Love is a call to open your spiritual eyes and see everyone around you through the love of God. Pray, ask, listen and speak His words. If you approach someone from divine love, you can't go wrong. Even if the prophecy is not correct, someone will sense your sincere love. As humans we are flawed when it comes to love, that's why we need to work with the Holy Spirit and depend on the One whose love never fails.

Reading Through the Eyes of Love has inspired me to keep pursuing the revelatory gifts. Especially in the places where I'm working or travelling. It feels 'safer' when prophesying in a place of prayer or when someone asks for prayer. But there are so many people out there who are waiting on a word of God without knowing it. They long to be loved and might not even know God. I can grow as I go, because I do believe that God will use all things for good.

I want to hear from God and speak to people the way pastor Shawn Bolz does. In Through the Eyes of Love: Encouraging Others Through Prophetic Revelation, Bolz tells story after story of personal encounters with God. The topic is prophetic words, but Bolz takes the mystical element out of it. This isn't magical mind reading, it's a matter of, as the title says, looking at people through eyes of love, and being willing to step out on faith to talk to people, even strangers, about life and about God.

Bolz packs the book with scripture and with real-life examples. Prophecy isn't always telling someone's darkest secrets--although that does happen. More often, it's simply telling someone that God loves her, or quoting a passage of scripture. Sometimes that word or verse of scripture is exactly what God wants her to here, and you can be the vessel for conveying a message from God. This takes some practice, and takes some boldness, but Bolz will inspire both in you.

One measure of whether I like this kind of book is whether it inspires me to spend more time reading and studying the Bible, and whether it inspires me to spend more time loving others. One both counts, Through the Eyes of Love gets high marks.
