Description

Only the need will last forever.

Sara has always escaped her real-world fears by reading fantasy and horror stories. Now, as a social-phobic college freshman, she enters a dark world where horror is not supernatural and fantasy is a trap.

Evil is contagious. Victims become predators, and every predator was once just like Sara. Imagining she'd be different was her first step toward them. Now, draped in the decadent ‘80s subculture, she's rendered helpless by powers she never imagined.

Only the need will last forever.

Understands AddictionBy Sophie H I am a recovering cocaine addict and I can tell you that this author understands the compulsion. As the story goes on and Sara's life gets further out of control, the pace quickens and it gets harder to tell what's real and what she's just experiencing due to the drugs. This is EXACTLY what it's like when all you can think of is getting another snort, just like a vampire fixates on feeding from the next victim.

She hides with fantasies, she hides in closets and in her room, she hides with chemicals. Her past and her present and her fantasy world all blend together and the worse her real life gets, the more she hides.

Drug addiction steals your soul. She doesn't just imagine she's a vampire. She is one. A different take on vampires By Kate Sterling Ever wonder what would happen if a young girl thought she saw vampires and went after them? In "Vida Nocturna", it's not what you might expect. And while I'm not sure what it was I expected from this book, it wasn't what I got.

I won't give away the plot, but the reader is in for a wild ride. If you remember the 80's, and/or like disturbing (in a good way) thrillers, give this one a try. Fast paced and interesting By OTK Isabelle Sara is a young woman living in the 1980's and trying to break free from her controlling parents. She tries living on her own in Chicago, and is soon drawn into a nightlife she didn't expect; a world of darkness, where she can no longer discern between reality and fiction.

As the title of the review states, this book was very fast-paced. The pacing was a bit jarring at times, and there were a few minor typos, but the subject matter was interesting, and a bit surreal at times - were the vampires real? Was she hallucinating? What about that scary doll?

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It's less paranormal activity, and more about what happens when an innocent girl starts hanging with the wrong crowd - what might really happen to her in a gritty, dark world.
