This is a cute fall read, great for October and for children to learn their numbers. The beautiful illustrations are extraordinary, with a spooky, festive, and cozy feel to them. I read this via NetGalley, courtesy of the publisher.

5/5 cute. The book was so adorable! With numbers up to 12! I would read more from this author. Childrens books are always fun to read. I would reccomend this to children who are first learning numbers. This will help kids visualize the quantities of 1 to 12.

Skeletitos is a counting and rhyming book for yoing2 children and perfect for halloween.

I loved the single color pops on each page. It made the illustrations stand out. My favorite thing about the book was what looked like it would be fold out pages to expand the image which children will love!!

"Skeletitos" is a cute sing-a-long book that is both amusing and educational. The black-and-white skeleton drawings were entertaining and funny. The little clocks on the left-hand side of the drawings promote the learning of the telling of time. I especially loved how this book centers on Mexican culture and the Day of the Dead, with Spanish words phonetically spelled in English to help kids properly pronounce them. As a bilingual educator, I am happy that such a book exists, since it affirms the identity of Latinx people and encourages non-native Spanish speakers to access the language.

The only recommendation I have for this book is a little context in the beginning. A little introduction would go a long way in terms of explaining the origin of the skeletitos as well as their connection to Mexican culture.

This book is so unique and fun, a great way for young children to begin learning to tell the time and to count. The illustrations are amazing, I love the black and white with the small splash of colour on each page. I also love how the book is designed with the flip out pages. I can absolutely see myself gifting this book.

This was the cutest thing! And the song is just as fun.
The illustrations are beautiful, I love the detail of each little character.

Skeletitos was an adorable "Dia De Los Muertes" (Day of the Dead) tribute. I think young readers will really enjoy the enchanting rhymes and learning about the holiday. It is a good book to use to start explaining the holiday, as well as teaching time and counting. The pencil illustrations are beautiful. I love Jaramillo's art style and would really enjoy seeing more books by her. Very fun, beautiful book! Well done!

Because of the nature of minor changes per page, as you flip the book, you can feel the hour hand of the clock moving. There's rhyme with the time. Skeletitos makes the whole what happens after we die less scary, with cute elephant and dog involved. Life's still the same. You have friends and cake.

My Thoughts
Who thought skeletons could be so adorably cute? If you did not think that yourself, then this book will prove you wrong. While I read a digital version of the book, it looks like the physical one has pages that fold out to include more of the stylish illustrations, as well as a clock with movable hands that I am sure will delight the young readers.

The book takes the reader from hour to hour as the clock strikes the time, and we have more skeletitos joining in the fun, dancing and jiving and partying their way across the pages, making every moment count (it simply does not matter they are no longer alive)! And I love that the message in the tagline- ‘Make Every Moment Count’ – is highlighted on each and every page of the book, in all the details!

The black and white illustrations are striking and detailed with a single splash of color that adds that ‘POP’ to each page. The text rhymes pretty decently for a translated version; does have some rhymes that seem a bit off but still great fun to read aloud.

Check out the website for fun activities, a sing-along app, a video to enjoy the fun rhymes from this book (with wonderful animation) and more.

In Summary
A totally gift-able book. It is a clackety fun way to learn time, the numbers, and about the Day of the Dead all the while enjoying the gorgeous, detailed illustrations.

This is a cute little counting/time telling book for kids with a Day of the Dead theme. It's apparently based on a Latin American nursery rhyme and it might work a little better poetically in the original (in times the rhyme and rhythm was a little clunky to read out loud). I read a digital ARC but it appears to have fold out pages and perhaps moveable clock hands, which would be great fun for kids. I love the striking black and white art with little punches of color. This would be an especially fun book for this time of year (fall and Día de los Muertos).

Thank you for the copy!
Skeletitos is such an adorable and fun story to read. I’m an educator, so I enjoyed reading a book, such as this one, that I can share with students. I appreciate the concept of counting numbers and the skeletons as a combination. With every number there was something the skeletons would do. I know it’s meant to be a song and I found myself rhyming as I read. It reminded me of Día de los Muertos, so I appreciate that. Skeletitos is actually in Spanish, meaning “small skeletons.” I would support and promote any cultural books. I think it’s important to share these stories to children so that they can be exposed to the diversity of this world. I would buy myself a copy and read it aloud to kids!

Adorable! With Halloween right around the corner, my 2 year old is into all things "spooky". He loved listening to this book. I loved that it rhymed and counted to 12!

This is the perfect book for this time of year. The illustrations are simply stunning. There's a great beat to the rhyme and it also teaches counting and time. Fun for all ages!

I LOVED this book! The colors, the illustrations and the simple words were fantastic to read to my son. He enjoyed it as much as I did. The flip pages are something he enjoys in books and I feel this one would be a huge hit for him! Plus it’s skeletitos... so that is a bonus of awesome!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to view this arc, in exchange for an honest review. What an adorable book for basic time telling skills, bilingual fun, and dia de los muertos celebration!!!! The accompanying app is pretty neat as well, I believe the kids will get a kick out this and learn something new about a culture that differs from their own. We need more of this, specifically from Jaramillo!

Skeletitos: Make Every Moment Count by Susie Jaramillo is a children's picturebook that reinforces time and counting lessons with fun rhymes. The Day of the Dead themed tales carry a comedic twist for kids, encouraging them to be wary, conscious, funny and self-aware.

Skeletitos: Make Every Moment Count is a beautifully illustrated picturebook. I love that the counting rhymes are memorable and simple. The fold out pages that offer a full illustration of the rhymes are lovely and I could spend my time simply exploring these pages. The details and attitude that shine through the pages is charming. I think that the song was simple, in the very best way, and when paired with the artwork offers an engaging book. I love that those that wish to explore further there is an app and website that allow readers to hear the song in english and spanish and continue learning with related activities.

This is a darling Day of the Dead themed counting book. The illustrations are precious and the dance themed language would be so fun to share with a young child. I love the app and website activity tie ins as well. I gave four stars only because I wish it included more details on the history and culture of Day of the Dead, but it would be a fun book for a child already familiar with the culture or to pair with another, more detailed selection.

This book was super cute and fun. My daughter and I both enjoyed the story. She even laughed quite a bit at some of the silly skeletons. I loved the graphics and how it teaches in an unique way counting. My husband and I both agree that we could read this book multiple times without getting bored which in parenting life is HUGE because you know they want to read the same books OVER and OVER and OVER again!

I absolutely loved this day of the dead counting book. The illustrations and interactions were fantastic and we couldn't put it down. We wanted to read it over and over again.

I'm sure this is a beautiful book and I love the idea of it a lot, but sadly I can't read it, as the pages just appear as either totally black or plain white on my Digital Editions.

It's a DE problem I am confronted with sometimes, I'm certain it's not the book causing the problem.

Skeletitos by Susie Jaramillo is a perfect book for number counting and Halloween. The book is full of wonderful illustrations and each page features a different number and rhyme. My little niece loved this.

This little book is awesome. I read a digital version of it, but it looks like it has some kind of double pages illustrations that you can open up, from the actual normal size page. Anyway, this book is awesome because it has a cute little creepy vibes, perfect for Halloween, it present numbers, but also clock and hours which can always be useful to present and teach to kids, it also has rimes which make it fun to read at loud and it works a bit like an ABC book but with numbers from one to twelve. Original, imaginative and perfectly executed. Congrats to the author!!

This is a very very beautifully illustrated book and has kind of catchy song to go along with the book. This is a great picture book to introduce young readers to Day of the Dead and the publishers have some great activities on their website to go hand in hand with the book.

Young readers will enjoy the illustrations and fun and catchy hour count down.

My step-son loved this book. He loved the dancing skeletons in the parade, and he enjoyed counting to twelve with the book. It was spooky and fun, we would like to read this again and again.

What a cute learning book using colorful and vibrant characters in the process! Skeletitos is a fun way to teach your child to tell time using rhyming and festive characters. It’s also a way to celebrate the Day of the Dead for those who celebrate! Very original!!

Oh boy, Skeletitos is the cutest little book I've seen this year!

Learn to count with this sweet book that follows Skeletitos around the clock!

For one, the style alone is lovely. The dashes of colour among the black and white works really well and makes it stand out in the crowd. The elephant really stood out to me - I thought it was the coolest of the bunch (but obviously, they all are drawn wonderfully).

Another great bonus is the app and free activities. I think that's a great way to get the base audience involved and active with this book. It's also a great marketing tool (and as a marketing student, I LOVE seeing marketing tactics like this. It's smart!). Also, the song is in English and Spanish! That's a great way to encourage reading and languages! My inner education lover is singing with joy! Mostly in English though, my Spanish was never that great - thank goodness this song let's me sing along and learn the words.

I think this is a cute, little book that would be great around Halloween time. Young readers can count, sing and learn Spanish all at the same time (or learn English! But in my area, we mostly speak English). I'd highly recommend picking up this book if you have the chance! My best guess is that this would be better suited for young day care kids up to grade three. Or maybe for reading buddies!

My biggest criticism was based off my e-copy. The pages didn't always sync up correctly. That won't be a problem for the final version of this book, I'm sure. I received a proof from NetGalley for reviewing purposes.

This was a super cute children’s book that would be a perfect gift for Halloween or Dia de los Muertos. The book counts from 1 to 12 with cute rhymes about what skeletons do each hour, and is both funny and spooky. My two year old would love it!

We seriously cannot wait to get a a hard copy of this book. It seems like a book that we will appreciate more in person than digitally.

The illustrations are amazing. The storyline is unique and fun.

I chose to read Skeletitos because the illustrations drew me in. I grew up in Texas and have always thought sugar skulls were beautiful. The illustrations and fun song make this a great read aloud that could launch a conversation with young children about Dia de Los Muertos.

Skeletitos is an adorable counting book for children. It has stylish and beautiful images full of contrast that is good for young eyes learning to read. It also includes visuals of clocks to assist with learning time for older children. I absolutely adore this book and would definitely purchase a hard copy for my own children or friend's children.

The cover of this book really sold me! I love the illustrations, and the book was really cute! It will teach everyone about the celebrations we should be doing.

Complete with a movable clock to help children learn how to tell time, Skeletitos is a beautifully-illustrated and written kids' book consisting of twelve rhymed verses - one each for every hour on the clock - with a Day of the Dead theme that uniquely and comically portrays to children the different events that these lively characters partake in throughout their day and night. The artwork is extraordinary and kids should be totally hooked on the rhymes that mom and dad read off - but even if they aren't, as an extra bonus said parent can, within minutes, head over to the website or download the app ... and actually sing along, with their child, to each day's rhyme set to music and sung by a joyously ghoulish narrator! Even as an adult with no kids, after one read-through I went to the website and must have listened to/re-read the book another four times to the musical/singing accompaniment, smiling like a goofy kid the entire time. Author/illustrator Susie Jaramillo has packed a lot of fun and humor - even joy - into such a small space, and if anything could make me happier it's that this projects to be only the first in a series. A truly great surprise I'd buy for any child; absolutely loved it. 4.5/5 stars
