Description

This past decade has been one of decline for the United States. This decade will be the decisive decade. The decisions we make and the actions we take in it will determine the future of America and the American dream. Concerned citizens understand this but they have lost trust and confidence in their leaders, institutions and the "governing elite." They are searching for a resource to help them think about and respond to this situation. Renewing the American Dream is that resource. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the American condition using a unique three part framework created by the authors. The book advances a citizen-centered agenda for change. It presents detailed recommendtions for renewing the dream and outlines actions that leaders, organizations and individuals can take to participate in the renewal process. It brings the citizen's voice and the businessperson's perspective to the forefront in the national dialogue on America's destiny.

My friend and Marriott Board colleague, George Munoz, and his co-authors, have put forth principles in this book about Enterprise USA that will re-energize the American Dream for the 21st Century. When my father founded Marriott International during the Great Depression, he lived the American Dream and seized the opportunity given to him by this great country. We all have the responsibility to keep that dream alive. --J. W. "Bill" Marriott, Jr.
