Description

Lauren’s uncensored style reads like she’s sharing stories with you over drinks—and the stories are so spit-out-your-cocktail funny you’ll need to order another round.

When Lauren Peacock was twenty-three years old, she got her fairy-tale wedding. But she soon discovered that a dream wedding doesn’t guarantee a dream marriage.

Divorced at twenty-seven, Lauren did a figurative face-plant onto the floor of the dating scene and had to learn some awkward lessons, like how it’s not socially acceptable to push a crush into the dirt after the age of seven.

A mix of self-deprecating humor and fearless vulnerability, Lauren’s collection of hilarious anecdotes will win over readers prone to pairing rosé with mac and cheese and waxing nostalgic over nineties-era pop culture references. With unapologetic honesty, she reveals even the least-flattering details of her dating life, which are so relatable they’ll make readers either cringe or laugh out loud. After dusting herself off, Lauren describes just how far she’s willing to go—we’re talking all the way across the Atlantic—to find her Prince Charming.

Lauren’s uncensored style reads like she’s sharing stories with you over drinks—and the stories are so spit-out-your-cocktail funny you’ll need to order another round.

What a great short little book to dip in and out of over a weekend.

Lauren Cribb did the typical dating thing and got married and quickly into the marriage realized that this was not how the rest of her life was supposed to go. Enter divorce at a young age and reentering the dating world. It was really interesting reading about someone else's life experiences (i.e. divorce and Hollywood life) that are so drastically different from mine and getting to know someone else who lives in a different place from me.

I could hear the author's voice clearly and as we are close to the same age, I could relate so much to the experiences she was having in the context of growing up with the amount of technology that I did and the pop culture references.

I would have loved to have listened to this on audio as it probably would have felt as though my friend was sitting here telling me all her stories!

I can't believe what a quick read Female Likes Cheese, Comes With Dog by Lauren Peacock is! I started reading and suddenly it seemed I was finished! It was probably almost 2 hours from beginning to end.

The author has a unique voice that shines through in her casual writing style. It really feels like you are sitting with a girlfriend sharing wine and stories - it felt like I know her. While I am from a different generation and did not always get the references (I did immediately recognize "days of yore..." ) I did get what she was talking about regarding losing herself in a relationship and not seeing what others do. She wrote very touchingly (is that a real word?) about living in and through the end of a longterm relationship and the challenges it presents. I am happy to see she has found her lobster and wish them both well.

I hope Ms. Peacock continues to write as I think she has a real flair for it (she gave me 'the feels') and I look forward to future offerings. My prediction is that Female Likes Cheese, Comes With Dog by Lauren Peacock will be a popular summer reading choice and for good reason.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

This was such a fun and quick read! As a female who loves cheese and my dog, I found this highly relatable. I want more from this author! Her writing style is very causal and it feels like she is just one of your girlfriends sharing about her funny, complicated life.

I’m probably as far away as the target for this book as I could be, being an older gentleman who’s been married for over twenty years. That being said, I enjoyed the book, found it to be entertaining and delightful.

For some reason, I expected the dog to be a bigger part of the story.

The way in which Lauren shares her story made me feel like we were already friends, chatting about life over a glass of wine at happy hour. Her humor adds to her storytelling in a way that makes her narration authentic. How can you NOT be drawn to someone who is both a Classmates.com stalker and a DateBritishGuys.com success story?! This (somewhat) lighthearted snapshot into Lauren’s life makes her book a pretty effortless read and a great story to share with girlfriends at your next get-together.

Filled with endless amounts of funny quips and advice, Lauren manages to cover it all! From breakups too navigating high school as a teenager, overbearing parents growing up, college life, and finding her happily ever after she's real and raw in her tell-all-book.
