Description

Love could be a click away... Or in the last place you expected.

When Fran meets Ollie, it’s eye roll at first sight. Who does he think he is – with his Ray-Bans, piss taking and artfully styled hair? Forced into working together at Viral Hive, the trendy media content agency, at first they butt heads, but soon realise that they could be BFFs. Fran’s happily settled with boyfriend Lucas, while Ollie is fully committed to girlfriend Lou.

But when Fran’s relationship crumbles, and Ollie sets off with Lou for a round-the-world trip, she decides to start an anonymous dating column, detailing all the perils of dating online – from the bloke who angrily demanded she share the bill when she refused his clumsy advances, to the one that ended their date by weeping into her cleavage – even if it seems that all the good (or even normal?) men are hiding. Maybe there aren’t plenty more fish in the sea?

But, on her dating journey of discovery, Fran’s about to learn that sometimes love can be where you least expect it… you just have to put down your phone.

This hilarious romantic comedy is When Harry Met Sally for the Tinder age – will make you laugh and cry! Perfect for fans of Mhairi MacFarlane, Lucy Vine and Sophie Ranald.

Can you say squee? Because I did when I finsihed this book. Swipe Right is everything its title promises - a funny, heartwarming, engaging, and absolutely transporting romantic comedy. Five stars!

It is a well known fact that I absolutely bloody hate books written in first person. I don't know why, I don't know when it started, it's just become a fact of life.

On the very rare occasion, I'll find a book in first person narrative that is so good, so well written, that I forgot I hate first person, sometimes I even think that maybe I've judged it unfairly.

This book, though.

Oh. My. God. This book!

The chemistry between Ollie and Fran was palpable from the very beginning. The additional characters, the colleagues at Viral Hive, just everyone, was amazing. I don't think I have Ever been this into a book written in first person narrative before, I actually forgot that it was even written in first person before I even got to chapter 3.

I'm not even sure I can explain how much I loved this. I laughed, I cried, I got really bloody annoyed. I am actually annoyed with myself for not having read anything by this author before.

Seriously, if you don't buy this book and love it then you're basically as bad as Awful Lou.

Thank you NetGalley and Hera Books for a chance to read and review this book early.

This is not my first Stephie Chapman book. I have read 'Call Me Maybe' and I have to say that I like this one a lot more. It was witty and fun and I enjoyed reading it. The plot is based on Tinder dating sites which I found a lot more original and interesting. It was a sweet rom-com between two friends who had a lot of potential to be more than that. I found it refreshing and would definitely recommend it to the fans of Mhairi Mcfarlane and Sophie Renald. Hope you enjoy it.

Stay safe and happy reading!!

Very early on in this book, I thought "this seems eerily familiar, kind of like When Harry Met Sally...but more current" so I loved seeing in the author's letter at the end of the novel that she came up with the idea for the story based on When Harry Met Sally!

So, like I said, it was a familiar premise, but it felt fresh with the more current updates: Tinder, the work environment based on Buzzfeed, and the general use of phones and social media. Fran was very likable, and I (much like her online fanbase) loved reading her exploits with her Tinder dates - though I have never used Tinder myself, her stories do not sound very far off from the tales I've heard from others. Ollie was a fantastic leading man, very sweet and attentive. I loved this book and will continue to think about the main characters for a long, long time.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for this ARC - all opinions are my own, and I'll be sharing these opinions (and my wholehearted recommendation) with all of my friends.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book and it's depth, I've been in a romance kick lately and chose this one for the cover and description expecting the same old storyline - meet cute, few painfully unrealistic sex scenes, two fights that threaten the relationship, and a happily ever after. I am so glad I was wrong! For lovers of Josie Silver, this book is for you!

This book was just perfect, the characters were great, the chemistry between Fran and Ollie was just fantastic.
The way the writing just flowed and the plot was just brilliant. It was a book that i just couldn't put down, you knew where the story was going but you just had to keep reading to get there. After reading this i will definitely be reading more by this author.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would! It's a well-crafted modern take on a familiar trope. Fran and Ollie are competitors for a job and end up realizing that they make an excellent team, so much so that they become collaborators instead of competitors. Their close friendship and brilliant working relationship is not without the drama though, and they are tested time and time again. Stephie Chapman writes compelling characters and narrative that makes you want to keep reading.

Well, this was adorable. I was pleased to find there was some meat to the story and not just generic romance fluff.

This was an enjoyable read. There were times when I laughed out loud, especially at the date reviews. The characters were great & I'd love to read more!

This book was cute! Fran and Ollie are after the same job, but there’s no denying there’s immediate attraction between the two along with a bit of rivalry. When their paths cross again there’s no denying there’s something between them and the book takes you along for the journey.

I immediately wished I worked at Viral Hive and these characters were my coworkers! They were fun, charismatic and enjoyable. Loved the immediate attraction between Fran and Ollie and couldn’t wait to see where Chapman took them!

This is modern story but with wide appeal, based in part about modern dating but primarily about the friendship between work colleagues Fran and Ollie. From the first meeting at a job interview where Fran thought he was full of himself they start working together and gradually become friends of sorts. I liked Fran, she has lots of good qualities but also human weaknesses too although she has a strong backbone when needed. I can only judge Ollie from Fran’s perspective, I think I would have enjoyed a few Ollie chapters to understand him better, especially regarding his relationship with Lou however overall you could see he had some good qualities with a good dose of charm thrown in. The chemistry between Lou and Ollie was well written but I liked that they both had integrity. Overall this is a solid rom-com of a book.

Going into this I thought this would be the typical boy meets girl trope. However, this adds a great modern day twist.

It really shows the in and outs of online dating and does so in a fun way - I loved the blog extracts after all the dates!

Fran and Ollie were great leads and you find yourself rooting for them from the first meeting.

This is the perfect light hearted and funny read. If you enjoyed the Flatshare by Beth O'Leary I think you'll love this!

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an early copy

Thank you NetGalley and Hera Books for this arc.

A fun updated version of When Harry Met Sally! Fran meets Ollie when they are both applying for the same job at a viral media entertainment company. Fran's hackles are immediately raised, but she's offered the job! Happy Day (hackles down). Her first afternoon on the new job, she finds out that Ollie has also been hired as her collaborator (hackles back up). While Fran and Ollie are unaware, it's evident to all around them that they belong together. And so begins the year plus story of their lives and misadventures while they get clued in as well.

The characters were likeable and engaging (except for the minor ones who weren't supposed to be). The writing and pace of the story flowed along with some hysterically funny moments and some truly heartfelt ones. The drama and angst were balanced with Fran's introspection (a surprise for me). Overall, a very nice read.

This is a love story for the modern world taking us along for an interesting ride through the perils of dating. Everything for Fran starts off well with her landing her dream job at Viral Hive, and who cares if she has to work with the ever confident Ollie. These two are a match made in work heaven, and whilst everyone seems to think they could be more, there respective relationships nip any romantic inclinations in the bud.

When Fran finds herself single, after what is one of the best scenes in the book she decides to document her dating journey in a blog for Viral Hive. She changes the details to make them anonymous, from the guy who gives her a badge of his cats, to the one who wanted to add to his polygamous family plus the guy who asked her to pay half of the bill when he realised he wasn't getting any, its not surprising that all these dates cause Fran to re-evaluate.

Through it all Ollie has been a constant, despite him being less than impressed about her blog. However, when he announces that he is going travelling with his girlfriend Lou, Fran does her best to be supportive whilst knowing that this is going to change their friendship forever.

One of the things I really liked with this book is that there comes a point where it could have naturally ended, quite happily and possibly satisfactorily. However I think what Stephie Chapman does here is really good, in that she creates a circumstance which gives Fran the chance to find her feet and really focus on her. For the majority of the book she seems to get swept up in circumstances which stops her from really thinking about what she wants.

Whilst I did enjoy reading this book, it feel like it took a while to get going. I also found it surprising the level of detail Fran went into on her blogs, I for one would not feel comfortable laying out all the intimate details of my dates in order to get good ratings. That being said I wonder if that was part of Fran's journey, to give her that moment when she has to figure out what was the main reason for doing the blog.

This is a feel good book which at the moment provides a great escape from what is going on in the world. There are laugh out loud moments and cringe with embarrassment moments, but the ending will leave you feeling like everything is going to be ok.

Can you say adorable? I would totally swipe right for this book. I was intrigued by the description's mention of a modern day "When Harry Met Sally," and I thought surely no one can live up to that classic story....and yet Fran and Ollie did. It was sweet, it was charming, it was funny, and it carried all the markers of a heartwarming, uplifting rom com (yes, just like When Harry Met Sally). I'd highly recommend it to lovers of Staci Hart and Tessa Bailey's books! Sign me up for more Fran and Ollie immediately, please!

This was cute, fun, and surprisingly delved deep into emotions - not just a fluffy read. It reminded me a lot of Sally Rooney, but with a little bit more levity to it. I'd recommend it to those that are interested in reading a contemporary, young fiction story with romance elements to it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC.

Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman!

This book follows the life of Fran, who during her interview for the role of Content Creator meets the very cool and very handsome Ollie. When they both get the job the pair overcome their differences and become the hilarious work wife/husband duo. Unable to be together due to their partners - the very annoying Lou and the very emotionally abusive Lucas, this pair become best friends instead! This is a great book with a brilliant plot, it’s something a bit different to the usual rom-com books. I love the relationship between Fran and Ollie, Chapman keeps you guessing as to wether or not this couple will ever find their timing and be together. Fran and Ollie were loveable characters (except for maybe how Ollie acts towards the end, you’ll have to read and find out what I mean) and the author excelled at making us despise both Lou and Lucas. My only complaint about this book is that it ended too soon, I would have loved to read more about these characters as they are finally reunited. This Book gets four stars from me!

Thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for the opportunity to read and review this book! I am convinced that all the Love Island I've been marathoning in quarantine has been preparing me for the UK lingo in this book. But I digress.

This romcom features a not-quite-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers scenario that plays out in a millenial, social media workplace. One thing I enjoyed about Fran and Ollie's story was its toned down realness. Sure, I love high drama and tropes and cheesy one-liners like I love rich chocolate cake, but this book delivered a story that's aware of the complex, sticky realities of modern dating. Fran's on-point accounts of Tinder dates gone wrong strike the perfect balance with crude humor (hilarious) and bitter disappointment (soul-crushing). This is no whirlwind romance but progresses, and sometimes regresses, in fits and starts.

I also appreciated the exploration of misogyny women face daily, whether it's throwaway comments from colleagues or lack of equity in dating. These aren't the purview of villains alone but also well-intentioned men we welcome into our lives. In this story, we see women justifying men's behavior or internalizing demeaning comments, and I empathized with Fran's fight to not be weighed down by it all.

I really enjoyed this book. The relationship between Fran and Ollie was one I absolutely fell in love with as I read this book! As I’m currently in lockdown, I found myself completely immersed in this book and forgot about all the bad news that’s around right now. If you enjoy author Anna Bell’s books, you should love this!

I saw this book on bookstagram and knew I wanted to read it. I absolutely loved it. It drew me in and I didn't want to take a break. Definitely did not disappoint!

I really enjoyed this book! It has a definite When Harry Met Sally vibe to it and focuses on Fran and Ollie, who initially dislike each other, but then become best friends and “work spouses”, and despite the proddings of all their co workers, maintain that they are just friends. While Ollie continues to date his horrid girlfriend, Fran maximizes her time on Tinder in order to write a column.

This book has THE BEST breakup scene when Fran dumps her douche canoe boyfriend at his work party. It is truly spectacular!! The author does a great job of writing good chemistry between Fran and Ollie and builds great tension that keeps you reading.

My only criticism of the book is that I would have liked more scenes between Fran and Ollie. They jump from enemies to best friends quickly in the books, which we are told, but don’t necessarily see. Fran has plenty of scenes with her other work friend Carlina, and I think the story would have been stronger if some of those had been substituted with more Fran and Ollie scenes.

Overall, a fantastic book that I recommend.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
4,5 stars

I absolutely adored this book. I loved that this wasn´t "instant-love", this story had more nuance. This is a funny, charming, feel-good read. I disliked some moments that I´m not gonna spoil right now but they weren´t really relevant in the main scheme of things. Most of the story was as close to perfect as I imagined
The main drawback for me was the ending, I wanted a bit more, a little more of happy before the ending. I will definitely add Stephie Chapman to my list of authors I adore.

I really enjoyed this book.
Fran and Ollie has fantastic chemistry from the offset when they meet at a job interview. Their banter with one another, Fran's seeming distaste for Ollie and Ollie's overconfident I know all attitude really set up an interesting dynamic between the pair. I really enjoyed watching these character grow and friendship with a little flirting bloom.
I found Fran's horrible dates online were hilarious however definitely not situations I would have wanted to be in myself, however her blog posts about them were definitely a highlight of this one.
I could not stand Fran's boyfriend and I guess that was the point but there were moments I wanted to drag him out of the pages of the book just to slap him on Fran's behalf.
Overall I thought this was a hilarious yet sweet fast paced rom-com that had me addicted from the first page.It is definitely a book I will reread in the future and hope to get just as much enjoyment out of it then. 5 out of 5 stars for this one from me. I would highly recommend it.

Swipe Right is a twist on an enemies-turn-lovers workplace romance. I enjoyed the fact that it included dating apps and blogs and the trials and tribulations that come with them and what it is like navigating relationships in modern times. Fran and Ollie turn up to the same job interview which launches them on their journey over the course of a year from enemies (perhaps one sided) to colleagues to friends and then more. Fran and Ollie were easy to like and I found myself wanting to knock their heads together to make them realise what was obvious.

I also really enjoyed on a side note that the book placed emphasis on the important of female friendships and the different relationships you can have (childhood friends/work friends/flatmates) and Fran frequently turned to her friends for advice.

I would have liked a '6 months later' on Fran and Ollie’s story to see where they ended up and found myself wanting to know more when I finished the book!

Overall, I really enjoyed this feel good book and I would recommend as an easy read love story.

I feel like I went on a journey of self discovery with Fran. In the beginning, she was meek and subservient and catered to Lucas 's needs at a sacrifice of her own. Once she realized that "Fran can" she blossomed into her true self. Blunt and to the point, she surrounded herself with genuine friends and gave herself professionally and personally. She thrived and never disregarded herself again. That way, when Ollie truly came back, she was ready.

I mean this as a sincere compliment: this book read like one of my favourite slow burn fanfics. After my initial hiccups with Ollie being a dipshit I really really loved how their relationship developed and the ending was so pure!!!!!

Ollie started out as a tool and I’m not a big fan of guys who are jerks and annoying because they can’t express they like someone due to already having a partner or being emotionally stunted.

On the flip, Fran was such an incredible character. She has a wonderful arc of going from self doubting and repeatedly questioning herself to an admirably confident and self assured content creator. I loved the slow arc of change she goes through from break up to Tinder dates to her time spent with Ollie and then finally shrugging of that dire need for romantic validation.

I also thoroughly loved the slow timeline. This takes place over the span of nearly two years (maybe more) so the relationship was incredibly well paced. The timeline truly felt like a clean and sequential development from enemies to friends to lovers. Fran and Ollie’s missed connection moments of just not being ready for the other at the right time really gutted me at times but I didn’t feel impatient about it because there were so many wonderfully heartwarming moments that showed the longevity of their bond.

Ollie really was on the fence for me as a romantic lead. I really only liked him because Fran liked him (which speaks to her character development honestly). He was an annoying little child in the beginning and was unnecessarily territorial despite having a whole ass girl friend, shitty as she was. Like dump the hag and get with Fran or keep your opinions to yourself bro. Fran checks him on that real quick though and Ollie very clearly makes those changes based on her call outs. So there’s that. He made the effort which eventually endeared me to him. He made a dumb fucking decision at a pivotal moment though so he’s on thin ice.

Suze and Carlina were the perfect BFFs to balance out Fran’s dark spots in the narrative, readily available to cheer her up and coach her through rough spots. They felt realistic and strong as supportive friends and I really love reading their parts. Lydia was titled childhood best friend but she was a bit of a tosser yo be QUITE frank. Like I get your husband is your number one but when he sides with a random MAN over your childhood best friend you really need to evaluate if supporting him is the right decision. I also didn’t like how much she meddled. Suze and Carlina on the other hand were there for Fran as she needed them and were tactful about how they imparted their best friend wisdom. Far superior imo but all the same the friendships were really realistic.

I was happy to see that there were family moments involved as well. Fran’s dad features in a couple of parts and it was good to see adults connecting with their parents instead of mentioning them offhand or simply engaging through a phone call.

Overall, a fun read!!

I totally enjoyed this book by Stephie Chapman. I like the plot and her writing style. Will definitely be checking out other books written by her in the future.

When Fran and Ollie meet at an interview at a job they are competing for, Fran is less than impressed with Ollie, though everyone else finds Ollie very charismatic. Eventually, both Fran and Ollie are hired and, after a few rough starts, they become work spouses.

This book made me laugh out loud and shake my head in frustration at online dating.

I really liked Fran and her job sounds amazing. Fran had wonderful co-workers, good friends, an awesome dad...she just lacked the best judgment when it came to dating.

While I really enjoyed this book, I found it to be a touch too long. And I didn’t totally feel the build up between Fran and Ollie. I wish we’d been able to read more scenes where they built up their respect for one another.

3.75/5.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this heartwarming book in return for my review.

A modern day "when Harry met Sally", our ballsy Fran meets Ollie at a job interview.
Her first impressions are conflicting, she finds him attractive but arrogant.
Sparks fly when they are teamed together, both trying to keep their mutual attraction at bay.

When Fran introduces Ollie to her boyfriend as her friend, Ollie is very much in the belief that men and women can't just be friends, can they?

Newly single Fran is taking on a new column "swipe right....dating in the big smoke", dating men on dating app Tinder and anonymously writing about it. Providing an insight into dating for the millennial, it's full of laughs and raises debates on what is and isn't acceptable behaviour.

I very much enjoyed this book, couldn't put it down, It really was a delight to read.

This was a delightful enemies -to-friends-to-lovers romance. When it starts out with Fran applying for her dream job and finding herself paired up with Ollie who just seems too cool for school. They end up both getting hired in what sounds like a totally fun, hip place to work. Fran is in charge of generating content and Ollie is in charge of crafting the videos that they hope will bring in clips. The sparks are there and they eventually become good friends. The only problem is that they both have partners. And even though their partners totally don’t appreciate how awesome they are, they stick with them.

Everyone, including the reader, knows that they belong together. Unfortunately, it’s going to take them a whole book to figure things out. Isn’t that always the way? Fortunately for us, we can have an entertaining, different sort of read while we follow along.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

A not-so-guilty pleasure of mine has always been to sit down with a good rom-com, whether it's a film or a book, I just absolutely love it. Swipe Right is an adorable, modern, British romantic comedy, set in a Buzzfeed-esque office, and tells the story of two people absolutely meant for each other, and yet continue to find themselves unavailable or downright unwilling to explore their feelings. It's very "When Harry Met Sally", and I loved it a lot. It made me laugh so many times, and admittedly had me feeling pretty heartbroken in others. I thought the relationship between Fran and Ollie was perfectly written, and it felt so real in the struggles they found themselves in. I found the book easy to read and I fell completely in love with the characters, especially the side characters working in the office, I loved the whole work-family dynamic, it was wonderful. The only thing I wish we'd gotten was more of Fran and Ollie's relationship at the end. Because we'd spent and entire book just waiting and waiting and wishing for them to get together, I really wanted to explore some of their relationship. But that's absolutely just me being selfish and not wanting to let the characters go, so this might not necessarily be a problem for everyone!

Overall, this was such a fun read and if you're in the market for a very British, adorable rom-com, I would absolutely recommend! Thank you so much to Hera Books for sending me this, loved every second!

Thank you NetGalley and Stephie Chapman for an egalley of this book in exchange for an honest review. As expected, I loved this! It was funny and raw and well written. I continued to cheer for Fran and Ollie throughout all the mishaps that they endured. What I found unique about this book is the ending. We get the idea that they’re going to work and start anew, but we are left wondering what is next; it’s a happy ending without telling us exactly what that looks like for this couple. I hope there is a second book where we get more info maybe from a few years later. I think the premise of their jobs was also a nice touch, but I do wish we received more of them working together. Overall, an amazing read! I will highly recommend.

I was going into this book with no expectations. I was thinking a solid romance is what I will be getting.
I was wrong - I absolutely loved it! It was so much more than your average romance book.
First of all, the characters are mature, you can see their development throughout the book and you can see them owning up to the mistakes they make on the way. I really loved not only the main characters but all of their friends. The author really took her time and put a lot of effort into making every character unique and interesting.
Next, there is no that weird love at first sight thing, where the characters just jump onto each other. The book is set over a long period of time, it shows all the ups and downs of the characters and their journey. This really lets the main character develop herself and love herself before rushing into a serious relationship.
Lastly, this book is empowering. It shows toxic relationships, sexism, slut-shaming. But more importantly, it shows that you do not have to take it. You should leave, solve it, cope with it. The way our character finds love and strength for herself is inspiring.
The romance itself is also beautiful, and the ending left me smiling. The setting and the plot are fresh, modern, and feel very real life.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the romance genre and who wants something new.

Swipe Right is a perfect rom com! It’s the story of Ollie and Fran! Two people who meet and have an instant connection! To say this story is about love at first sight, is not completely true! It is also about destiny, and soulmates! There’s an old saying “there’s a lid for every pot”. The story of Ollie and Fran makes you believe in love!
Fran reminds us how tough and sometimes judgmental society can be towards single women! Ollie reminds us that there are good guys out there! This book was a delight! Well written, funny and romantic!

I don’t know about y’all but I just want to read all the rom-coms lately. My heart just needs all the feel good stories.

So this is supposed to be like a modern “When Harry Met Sally”. According to the author she got the idea while watching the movie.
Don’t kill me you guys but I have never watched that movie 🙈 I feel like I should have before I read this!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun and easy read. I found myself literally laughing out loud and I love when a book can make people wonder if I’ve gone bonkers. And yes I did pick up some British slang from this book.

This is a modern love story, the author does a fun job of showing us just how awful online dating can be. It’s also very real. And not just insta love.

This book comes out next month! May 13th and you should check it out if you are a fan of rom-coms like me.

This was super cute and, as the blub says, super uplifting—which is exactly the sort of book I needed right now. It's a lovely romance to read when things feel hopeless to spark that feeling that everything will turn out okay.

I absolutely loved this book. At first, I thought this would be a classic they meet, they both have significant others, then they break up and get together-- but this was anything but. From the beginning, I was intrigued by Fran and Ollie's respective relationships, and why they both were so committed when everyone else could see why they were perfect for each other. This was one of those books that perfectly described what happens when you meet the perfect person at the wrong time, and the years of events that can happen!

**I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first book by this writer. It's a terrific rom-com. The characters are great. The chemistry between the main characters is terrific. It's funny, witty and sassy. What a great story to read during quarantine... or anytime really....

I instantly connected with Fran and Ollie as soon as we meet them. Fran is definitely someone who I would be friends with in the real world. She swears, drinks, smokes and yes I know it’s not good for you but come on! This is the real world.

I was quite envious of Fran and Ollie’s work environment. Going out for lunches and drinks after work. People bringing in pastries for breakfast, it’s one big happy team. I did have my doubts about Fran doing the dating column and whilst some of my doubts were proven right, it does make for some seriously fun reading. Especially one such date of which I will say no more so as not to spoil it for others.

There is a blossoming relationship of sorts growing throughout the story. The readers can see it but it takes the characters a bit longer so you get a, will they ever get it together vibe.

Swipe Right was the perfect read in these uncertain times that brought some much welcomed relief. Fran’s story kept me wholly engaged and had me shaking my head and laughing at some of her antics. There was also the odd times where I wanted to give her a great big hug. A fun and light hearted read.

Is this a book I needed to read right now... yes, yes it was!

Stephie Chapman has written a funny, charming and relatable tale of life in our current times (ok in our pre-COVID-19 times but that can be forgiven). There is a lot going well for our main character Fran and you route for her right from the get-go! She's driven, smart, witty and seems to be a genuinely good person. Enter Ollie, a character you want to really like but there is just something about him that's holding you back from going all-in on this too cool for school charmer!

This may be the slowest burn pseudo romance to rule them all. The tension is sort of there and you KNOW where everything is going but there are chapters where Ollie doesn't really factor in. He's dating Lou, awful Lou, and Fran after a spectacular scene at a Christmas party, is back on the dating scene and writing about it. While they view each other as work spouses and good friends I had a hard time buying it simply because of the space between interactions. One day they are cold and the next not and by the next I mean 4 months later, but we aren't given much of a view. We are just told to accept it. I kind of wish we saw more of the progression from adversaries to friends.

I say pseudo romance as most of this book revolves around Fran finding her way back to herself. At times you think it's going to get heavy into the romantic elements but it doesn't really. Even what we build up to is a bit anticlimactic!

Honestly, in the end, I'm not sure I was totally sold. On one hand, I was clapping but on the other, I didn't think there was enough and I was still kind of not in love with all the things Ollie did or didn't do in some cases!

I can overlook my concerns shall we call them, because I genuinely enjoyed this book! It made me laugh and question things and cheer. It made me happy and gave me an escape when I'm stuck at home! And ultimately that's what you want a book to do!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

The story of Fran and Ollie who work with each other. When they meet she is with Lucas and he is with Lou, but they click. When Fran breaks up with Lucas she starts tinder dating and writing a blog about it. , and Ollie is off round the world with Lou, so will they ever have a chance of getting together?

I liked how it was written solely from Fran's point of view, but it would have been interesting to know what Ollie was thinking sometimese too, especially towards the end of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Hera books and Stephie Chapman for giving me that warm fuzzy feeling where you don’t dare hope for that ending...but really really want that ending.
Our two main characters are Ollie and Fran. Both go for an interview. It’s clear, from the off, that these two have a spark. But will it ever be more? When they both end up working in the company we do wonder. Everyone around them seems to think they make a great couple - but each has a partner.
For seemingly ages Fran and Ollie walk the line of friends who quite fancy each other. It’s all very When Harry Met Sally without the annoying leads, a lot more alcohol and no fake-orgasm scene.
There’s a warmth between the two characters that seems very genuine. They open up to each other in a way that you can’t help but envy...but nothing happens.
Hang fire. Don’t get disheartened. Sometimes you just need to wait for the right time to put everything in place. Of course, it might not happen - but that really would have been a miserable read.

Fran and Ollie meet during a group interview for the same job and immediately Ollie rubs her the wrong way. After both being hired and several months the two form what Fran thinks is an unlikely friendship. When Fran's long term relationship ends in spectacular fashion she decides to use it to her advantage and starts blogging about online dating. At the height of Fran's dating disasters, Ollie and his girlfriend take off on a year-long adventure traveling the world. When both implode and Ollie returns early, the only person he wants to see is Fran.

Swipe Right is an agonizingly delicious, slightly frustrating slow burn in the best way possible. Every time I would think, this is it, this is the moment, it wasn't. I adored these two, Fran was so brave and unapologetically her self. Ollie was so sweet (for the most part, aside from the incident), you can see his affection for Fran through their friendship. It's funny, with good characters both main and side, witty banter, and a few moments that feel like a punch to the heart. I enjoyed everything about this book, definitely recommend.

A light-hearted, fun, laugh-out-loud read!

Chapman writes with refreshing honesty what it's really like to date in the world of dating apps. Her characters are funny and brilliantly relatable (that break-up scene was epic!).

There are some touching moments too as Fran begins to value herself and realize the importance of doing things for known happiness rather than anyone else.

This book is very 'Harry Met Sally' - The perfect fix for lovers of romantic comedy!

Thanks to Hera Books & Netgalley for sending me this in exchange for an open and honest review.

This novel reminded me of a modern day Beauty and the Best. Fran and Ollie don't exactly hit it off after Fran had formed her first opinion of Ollie. The pair met during a group interview for the same job position and Fran perceived Ollie to be cocky and self-absorbed. However, once they are "stuck" together, she realizes maybe he is a bit more tolerable to be around than she initially thought. They are each juggling work and relationships with their significant others, while forming a friendship with each other.
I enjoyed the inclusion of the modern elements of dating (e.g., blog posts, Tinder, content creation, etc.), as well as the depiction of text messages and emails. It really made me feel like I was in the story myself. While the book was full of humor, I struggled with at first because I didn't feel like Fran's friends were the kind of people that she needed, especially in the midst of her rather toxic relationship. However, as her story evolved, so did the characters, and I found myself invested in the story fairly quickly. The ending was a bit abrupt for me. I would have loved to follow the story some more! This was a light read, full of humor and cringe-worthy first dates, I recommend to anyone looking for a fun, light read. It was the RomCom that I needed!

-I received a digital ARC copy thanks to NetGalley, all thoughts and opinions are my own-

I loved this story!! The angst, the slow burn, it all was amazing!! You sit there and just when you think things are going great BAM your smacked right down. This story had me hooked.

I loved our main character Fran’s personality, I felt that it really showed in every chapter. I also loved Ollie, even though there was a part where he was an utter douche he still was adorable and made me love him!

A very British rom-com that just gave me all the feels. I’m rating 4 stars, because as much as I loved the story there were times were I felt the story was just dragging on unnecessarily and the teeniest part of cheating in the beginning put me off. Because even though Ollie and Fran cheat on their partners with each other Ollie is upset when he finds out Lou has cheated on him later on, which seems double standard-ish to me but to each their own.

A nice light hearted, fun, easy to read rom-com that I’d definitely recommend! Thank you again NetGalley for allowing me to read this early!

This was an extremely heart warming book that grew on me towards the end. Initially it took me some time to get to love this book because the characters seemed a little flat and the plot a little superficial. But as we travelled with Fran, I came to realize that this is a story of insta-love or in this case tinder-love that we will all grow to love. Fran by herself is a jerk magnet to which most of us can relate. She meets the most obnoxiously weird guys and writes about them on her blog.

This is a story where the main characters are obviously in love with each other, and everyone but them knows this. One of my favourite settings of the book was Viral Hive, a workplace for content creators that seemed amazing. The co-workers are supportive of each other and have all the possible fun over Christmas and even Halloween. It's the kind of place I would not mind working.

Those of you who loved the book Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern and the movie Love, Rosie can pick this one up without hesitation

This is a fun and light-hearted read! Join Fran in her dating adventures and trying to find her way to love. We can all relate to her in one way or another as she makes this journey. Funny, and a great way to escape for a while.

First of all I have to say I really enjoyed this story.
The characters came to life and I found myself falling a little bit in love with Ollie. He is the right amount of funny, charming, flirtatious and an all round good guy.... Except for his girlfriend.. Lou... She is a thorn in his side and he doesn't realise it.
Fran is a brilliant character, she is a bit gullible and although she is fuesty, she has a bit of a soft side too. Her and Ollie start off with a very rocky friendship which then turns in to a gorgeous friendship which comes with a few ups and downs.
This is a story of work, careers, friendships, love, the highs and lows of Internet dating and finding the one.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and I want to thank the author, the publishers and Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC for my honest review

Most people know I am a huge thriller type reader but I gave this book a chance. I am so glad I did! It is very sweet, charming and just all around heartwarming book. This book didn’t take me long to read, it took about a day to finish. It sucked me in from the beginning, and I couldn’t seem to put it down.

This book show you joys of online dating, and the truth behind it. It shows you that it isn’t alway rainbows and butterflies at first that you most people literally just want the hook up.

Ollie and Fran had chemistry from the beginning but they were just friends. They worked so well together and they just clicked. They were both dating people when they met so of course at first they were just your typical work partners and that was it. They weren’t friends but eventually they grew to like each other and were inseparable. Sometimes the person you are meant to be with can be right in front of you and you just don’t know. Sometimes the timing isn’t always perfect but eventually if you are meant to be together you will be. Their chemistry was amazing, and kept me on my toes and wanting more.

This book was amazing, and highly recommend it if you are wanting a charming romance to fall in love with.

Although it took me a bit to get into it, Swipe Right was such a sweet, heartwarming read. Like I’ve mentioned before, any contemporary novel that follows a young women in media will always draw me in. I related to Frannie’s character and was rooting for her the whole time. And don’t even get me started on the chemistry between her and Ollie 😍

It also helps that I got some serious Anna and the French kiss vibes (xoxo @stephanieperkins). Thanks to @netgalley for the ARC. Definitely looking forward to more from this author!

This book was a light entertaining read about Ollie and Fran, who are work spouses. I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve from fierce competitors to true friends. There was always an air of mystery to Ollie, you never could quite figure out what he was thinking, and I loved that.

Fran's online dating escapades were sometimes funny, sometimes sad, mostly all crazy on some level. I could feel Fran's disappointment throughout the process.

This was a great book about friendships and relationships with great character development. You really got to know the personalities of Ollie and Fran as well as the people they worked with. This book was a great read from beginning to end.

Thank you Hera Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Swipe Right is a rom-com about Fran and Ollie. They both meet when they are competing for the same job and they both get and are forced to work with each other. They hate each other at the beginning then become friends and then lovers.
I loved Fran as a character. She was Fun and if she was a real person I would definitely befriend her. I loved how everything was realistic in this book. And of course my favorite part of this book is set in the UK. I love books set in the UK so this was no exception. Fran and Ollie are in Denial in the beginning. But then come to realize their feelings
Now my problems, The plot was pretty generic rom-com where both the characters are dating someone else in the beginning and then start to realize that they are meant for each other. The title of the book is a little misleading in my opinion because not a lot of part in this book is about online dating.
Overall a pleasant reading experience.

4-4,5 stars from me.
There is nothing to not like about this book. Though slow-paced, it was not as predictable, there was always something coming up more, the story turned out so nicely. It has a nice, good ending we all want to see and hear about these days. An uplifting spirit that everything does turn out as it is supposed to turn out.
Minus - at some point, especially at the beginning, there were quite many characters and it got confusing, who is who.

Swipe Right is a rom-com book about two people who meet at a new job at Viral Hive. I love the fun vibrant office culture and down to earth manager. In the beginning, It took me a while to get invested into the book. I felt like I couldn’t connect to the characters in any way! I pushed my way through, and as I kept reading, the story seems to draw you in. Suddenly, you become a part of Fran’s life and you cared(at least I cared). The ending was kind of cheesy.. but I still loved it. I wouldn’t have asked of anything less.

This isn't your typical enemies to lovers book! It starts out as two people getting the same job and by the end of it, they have both ditched their significant others and become one. It was an enjoyable read and a breath of fresh air.

I enjoyed this book as a nice diversion from all the current world issues. It tells the story of Fran & Ollie who meet white interviewing for the same job... which they both get.
Thereafter follows the tale from colleagues to friends to dating and love - though it’s not quite that straight forward...

To start with both Fran & Ollie are dating other people and although it’s clear to see the Fran’s relationship is wrong for her Ollie’s is a bit more ‘secretive’ to the point that I didn’t realise he had a girlfriend when he first pursued Fran. I thought all of the main characters were likeable - especially Fran - and enjoyed seeing her grow in confidence throughout the book. Although you know where the story is heading, the road through the relationships ending, dating other people to the pair getting together was entertaining and humorous throughout and a bit of real Rom Com escapism. Light and easy reading.

Thanks to Hera Books, NetGalley and Stephie Chapman for an ARC of this book.

This was a great lighthearted read (and it gave me sooo many nostalgic London feels)! It was witty and had a great main character in Fran. Her and Ollie’s chemistry was great, but it was also told realistically. There were a few times in the book that I got a little confused by the pacing, and had to go back and double check where we were at but for the most part I really enjoyed reading Swipe Right. Overall I would give this book 3.5 stars.

I am a huge fan of all chick lit, especially from the UK, and Swipe Right checks off all the boxes!

Fran and Ollie meet when they are both interviewing for the same job. When they both get hired and start to work together, sparks fly.....except they can't act on their attraction because they both have significant others!

In a modern day "Harry Met Sally", we see the story from Fran's perspective on whether men and women can truly be friends. Read along, smile with glee, squeal with happiness and sigh with contentment. A great read!!

The last part of the story focuses on romance. We remain in a traditional register but its end makes us smile. It is an enemy to friends to lovers story that we take pleasure in reading. It has Christmas scents. We want to read this with a plaid on our knees and a cup of hot chocolate. It's really cute and we take pleasure in rereading it just for the excitement it arouses.

YOU GUYS I LOVED BOOK SO MUCH! If you like good slow burn romances you’ll love this one!
So what is this book about? It’s about the relationship between Fran and Ollie. From co-interviewees and brief enemies to coworkers and besties! The attraction and chemistry between them is undeniable. But unfortunately both Ollie and Fran are spoken for. After a turn of events Fran is single and ready to mingle, and as a content creator she thinks up a new blog! Dating in the big city one swipe at a time. And so Fran’s adventures in dating commence! But what happens when her attraction to Ollie attraction doesn’t go away?

I really really enjoyed it! It was such a fun read and I’m definitely gonna try more of Stephie Chapman’s books, I’ve had so much fun reading this one! It was funny and entertaining at times, and infuriating and sad at others. The dates Fran went to were particularly amusing and at times maddening to my angry inner feminist. It was fun to see Fran’s take on them, her responses, and her actions towards men who have wronged her. I also appreciated how the characters were good but flawed people that have made mistakes.
I always love when the romance in books isn’t perfect. This whole book talked about missed opportunities for people and - right person wrong time. It was just so wonderful to read about a relationship that felt flawed but also meant to be? As if they were meant to happen but just at a different time. They needed to rewind and find their pace together.
A comparison I felt throughout reading this book was towards “Where Rainbows End” by Cecelia Ahern! What drew me to that comparison you may ask? Well, for starters- they’re both so bloody damn British! I’m both kidding and not. There was a lot of British slang in this one and thankfully I did know what the characters meant by them all.
But the second most prominent part came to form by the frustration and slow burn of the romance! In both books, the authors have decided to torment us readers by letting us wait for sooooo long before we get the climatic union of the couple. It’s both frustrating and incredible. Frustrating because I just want them to get together, and incredible because it makes me so much more invested in the relationship!
You NEED patience for this book. The romance is so slow burning you’ll find yourself screaming at your book, yelling at Fran and Ollie to “get their shit together already”. I know I have. By the last 15% of the book I was about ready to take a sledgehammer and find my way onside the book. But alas, I did not venture into the land of zeros and ones inside of my phone and decided to give them the last few pages to reconcile and find their way to one another.
So, while I personally love waiting awhile for the love interests to get together, I understand that many other people don’t feel the same- especially to THAT extent.
So enough raving, let’s get to the problems with the books shall we? Or more correctly in this case- the one problem I had with this one!
So what was my problem? Well, for me the book seemed to be paced oddly! It felt as if it took quite a long time for the plot to go underway? The book is titled “Swipe Right” but Fran only got swiping (on Tinder) at around the 50% mark... it was still entertaining all throughout and I definitely thought it was a good exposition to set the pace and circumstances of the whole novel, but it may have been a tad too slow.

Overall it was a great read for a patient reader! The romance was great and I enjoyed myself immensely!

4 stars.

A really well written book with likeable and believable characters. I loved how modern and "now" the whole thing felt too.

First, I want to thank Stephie Chapman, Hera Books, BOTBSPublicity and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman is a fun light read that will make you smile and laugh out loud at times. It is a perfect book to escape from reality of all the seriousness in the world right now.

This book is for anyone who has looked at their best friend and realised, oh, hey, it’s you.

Originally the cute fun and cartoonish cover caught my eye. Not to mention the name of the book the whole thing just screamed fun read. Kudos to the graphic designer.

For the first part of the book I was trying to figure out why it was called Swipe Right. The title for the first part of the book didn’t seem to fit. However, the turning point of the book it did. Then at the end was the real eye opener when it all fell into place. I had an ah ha moment.

Seems like every book has a character I don't care for. This book was Lucus! Oh he rubbed me the wrong way on so many levels. I could not understand what Lydia saw in him! Everyone could tell he didn’t treat her right-except for her.

In swipe right I loved seeing how the Lydia and Ollie developed as characters as the story evolved.

One thing that Stephie revealed at the end of the story was her friendships with her best friends through conversations on social media apps were woven strands into this story.

On Twitter the author Stephie Chapman has called Swipe Right “a bit When Harry Met Sallyish, a bit Buzzfeedy, some ridiculous Tindering and a lot of sass.” And that is absolutely spot-on! There’s romantic work-place drama like in The Hating Game, there’s longing and misunderstandings like in Meet Cute, with a bit of men and women can’t be friends flirting like in When Harry Met Sally.

Swipe Right is such romcom fun! Reading this book feels like chatting with a friend that you can tell anything (and I mean anything) to and she won’t judge. Seeing the ups and downs of dating in London, her friendships in and out of work, her cool job at Viral Hive — it felt like Fran was telling me all about it herself. Like I was getting all the juicy dating details and emotional purges directly from her. This book is hilarious, sexy, flirty, emotional, romantic, and cool, and that’s why it felt like a friend coming over for pizza at the end of a long day to confide in you. And I love that!

Fran, Ollie, Carlina, Suze — I loved them all in their own way, getting to know them, seeing them all be there for each other, seeing them grow. Especially seeing Fran and Ollie’s hearts change over time.

Really enjoyed reading Swipe Right and would absolutely recommend it!

Such a sweet read. Great for the beach if it's ever safe to venture out of the house again, but I digress. Loved Fran and Ollie. I thought she was a bit hard on him in the beginning but she came around. I thought he was a bit of an idiot at first too, but the story all came together in the end. I would definitely read more from Chapman again.

Swipe Right is told from Fran's perspective, who begins working at a media content agency at the same time as Ollie. They start off butting heads but quickly become each other's work wife/husband. Both in relationships (at the beginning, anyway...), the book's description mentions that Fran starts an anonymous dating column and Ollie takes off overseas. However, this doesn't happen until halfway into the book, so I personally found the whole rude boyfriend part at the beginning monotonous and was impatiently waiting for her to dump him already! Nevertheless, Swipe Right resurrected itself in my eyes as it features a stellar selection of supporting characters and some interesting dating stories, I recommend it if you're looking for an easy-to-read romance novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hera Books for the ARC - all opinions are my own.

I really loved this book. Something very different to what I thought it might be and in a good way. I loved all the characters and their extended family and friends. I loved the the lead female was not a pushover by some billionaire into all his fantasies, but lived and mapped her own life.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book, I would recommend it to everyone.

Ah what a fabulous story featuring likeable characters that you are willing to get together. I must admit I didn't actually understand what job they did... When Fran started her anonymous dating column the pace of the novel really heated up and it was full steam ahead from there. Will they or wont they? You'll have to read it to find out.

This has been the absolute perfect escape read for me. I have absolutely loved this one so much that I have devoured the entire book in just an hour.
This has been an extremely fun read and I have loved it. This is just a perfect and delightful read. I feel like I was able to make an instant connection with the characters involved and they are extremely real.
The work environment described sounds absolutely brilliant, I have loved this one. The spark between Ollie and Fran has been apparent since the very first moment. The story flowed nicely throughout this and the author is definitely fantastic because I had no desire to return to normality until I had finished this book.
Without a doubt a five star read, I'm sure other book lovers will love this story as much as I have. I will definitely be shouting about this one.

Fran lands a new job with a media entertainment company. When she splits up with her boyfriend ends she decides to try Tinder and writes a big about her disastrous dates. A lovely amusing story of Fran's quest to find love. Everyone at work can see that Fran and her work husband Ollie are made for each other. When will they realise this.

Swipe right to your happily ever.

Fran is nervous and excited to be interviewing for her dream job, and suddenly she’s thrown together with this cocky cutie who she butts heads with constantly. While both her and Ollie have significant others, there’s definitely some chemistry working it’s magic on the two of them. Is it meant to be? Will these two work it out? Or will fate step in and put them exactly where they’re meant to be in love, work and life?

The first half took a bit to build up - Her boyfriend is just a doofus, from the moment he was introduced it made me like Fran as the main character less just for putting up with him. When she finally dumps him - in the BEST way, and one of my favorite parts of the book - she decides to take that energy and pitch a How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days style dating series for work.

I typically love this trope, the one who's right next to you being perfect for you, except there's all these obstacles. At first, I didn't feel a connection with these characters like I wanted to - Fran just seemed too stuck on all the wrong things, and the wrong guys for her, but the ending won me over. A delightful more than just friends story with a bit more of a modern feel with the social media emphasis.

4 Stars! I loved this new sweet Rom Com nod to Nora Ephron’s When Harry Met Sally.

Fun cast. While a bit dragging at times, the rich diverse cast of friends and coworkers made up for the over attention to detail and backstories.

What I didn’t like? British formatting...I think. Just closely spaced together. No double quotations to indicate dialogue. It just was distracting.

Also, single POV and no epilogue is a major bummer too.

But I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend to others.

Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman was an instant pick up for me as it was described as the book version of When Harry Met Sally (my favorite movie of all time)! This RomCom takes place in London, it begins as Fran meets Ollie during their group interview for a content creator position at a Buzzfeed-Esque entertainment website. The meeting is not exaaaactly love at first sight; however, there is something about Ollie that won't let Fran forget him.

Noticing the infectious dynamic between the two of them, Fran and Ollie end up being forced to work together, going from competitors to 'work spouses'. As Ollie leaves their job and takes off on a worldwide trip with his girlfriend, Fran has broken up with her partner and is struggling to create new content. She makes the bold decision to write about her adventures with online dating. What she will learn through this process will change her life.

This book had it all: rivalries, attraction, love, break-ups, friendships, you name it! Fran and Ollie's dynamic from the start was infectious, you could not help but to root for their relationship, whether it was just as friends... or more!

What I absolutely loved about this story was Fran's exploration of herself as she learned what she truly needs and wants in a partner as well as who she is, a smart, talented woman who deserves it all!

Ultimately, I really enjoyed this story and the multiple relationships it displayed, if you are into RomComs I would recommend picking it up for a fun summer read!

This was a delight in the way it took the Harry Met Sally troupe and turned it on its side with today's internet, open, free-wheeling sharing. It takes to people who become co-workers and how they develop a friendship of sorts. They work together perfectly yet do not cross over into more until much much later.

This had banter, quirky dating issues and all the other fun stuff.

Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman is a contemporary romance, and my first book by this author. I absolutely loved this book, from beginning to the end. This book is similar to when Harry met Sally, because Fran and Ollie friendship takes place over years. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a heart warming story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Sometimes, a bit of romance is exactly what you need. A little distraction from the rest of the world and, when it all works out well in the end, then you know things will be okay. That's exactly what Swipe Right manages to do.

Title: Swipe Right
Author: Stephie Chapman
Pages: Kindle Edition
Publisher: Hera Books
Publication Date: 13th May 2020

When Fran interviews for a job at content website Viral Hive, she didn't expect to interview against Mr Cool. They instantly clash but have great creativity and ideas. But even if he hadn't caught her eye, it doesn't matter, because she has Lucas and he has Lou. But when Fran's relationship with Lucas crumbles, she decides to get on Tinder and document her dates - great content, after all!

I have a lot of gripes with romance novels (but still keep going back to them). They don't always get it right. The friends are just there as filler for the MC. The MC is cuter than she realises. The ex is a total douche. The new guy is swoon-worthy. They make a few mistakes and then BAM. Kisses at midnight. Or in the park. Or at the coffee shop.

Thankfully, Swipe Right doesn't quite go in for all of those tropes. Fran is probably hot, but aside from having notable red hair, there's not much about her looks. She comes across as a lot more ... normal. She's also sharp and snarky. She's not wet, she makes mistakes and she can hold her own. So far, so go.

Her chemistry with the new guy, Ollie, is totally on point. They clash. They call each other out. They care. Definite sparks and, if you know that feeling, then it's definitely there in this book. I was a bit worried he would have to come and rescue her at one point, but thankfully ...

My rom com gripe here is that all the dates, all the men, that Fran meets are definite pieces of work. Some are pathetic, some are manipulative, some are nasty. That was just the bit of depth missing from this for me - well-rounded male characters that don't require romantic interest. Likewise, there could have been a lot more going on with her friends. I've read a lot worse (!!!) but am still waiting for that rom com that gives me it all.

But seriously, Fran and Ollie - great chemistry, natural conversation, very believable. It worked and I enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom. Even better, this story takes TIME. It's not 4 weeks of sizzling chemistry. It's years. I need a little realism in my fuzzy romance feels.

I think if I were to read this at a different time it might be a 3.5 rounded down to 3 stars, but given that this book did me no wrong, it's up to 4 stars.

4 Stars!!

This book had me confused, overwhelmed and hooked till the end.

Fran and Ollie meet for the first time during an interview, applying for the same job. And, it was a surprise for them when they got to know that they had both been recruited in Viral Hive. And with time they became best friends and work spouses from feeling unsure around each other. Truly, this seemed like a roller coaster ride.

From the start I had figured that the writing style was something I wasn't accustomed to. Not any major changes, but certain things here and there. And of course I had read the blurb and remembered it, so I was very excited to see where things were going. For sometime, I felt that it was stretching. Nothing major happened (and by that I mean the blurb) and I was on my toes. And then the moment arrived and I was utterly invested. Which actually made me realize that those first few pages were important for the story to have a mature base.

The characters were pretty amazing too. I mean apart from obvious dickheads, they were truly amazing. Fran's character, in a small summation, can be described as someone who's hard from inside but soft from inside. Ollie, on the other hand, was hard to pin down for me. He seemed someone who was clear about what he wanted but he made some crap decisions. And Fran and Ollie together? Obviously they were meant to be together from the beginning but, man, it was amazing and strenuous to watch them finally realize that.

The ending made me really emotional. And to be honest, although the book felt really long, at the end it was just worth it.

A fun little rom-com read. I enjoyed reading Swipe Right. This was a new to me author and I will definitely read more of her books.

Every so often you need a book like this that is pure build up. The author said at the end she got this idea from the movie When Harry Meet Sally but added in a modern take. Fran and Ollie meet during their interview for a new job, they do so well that they both get the job. They turn from enemies to friends to wish we could be more back to zero again. This book is over a couple years in mostly their workplace, where they become work wife and husband,

This is a super super slow burn, and not much steam other than she goes on tinder dates. I loved the banter of her work coworkers, Fran and Ollie, and her horrible dates, Some parts got long, and she skipped most of one 6 months period but the flow wasn't too bad.

Overall, 3.5 stars and 1 steam. (Its not clean as its British)

Thanks to Hera publishers and author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I posted about this book yesterday on my Bookstagram page saying how I wasn’t completely sure about it, mainly because the main character Fran annoyed me to no ends at times. Having finished this book just now, I realize that the reason I was so annoyed by her action was because she’s basically me. Settling for the wrong men, giving chance after chance to men who don’t deserve to be given one let alone hundreds of chances and finally.. at the end of the day still hoping that “The One” will come along eventually. Like Fran, one day I decided that enough was enough and I would no longer be a doormat, I would no longer allow myself to be pushed over and I would stand up for myself.

With that in mind, I LOVED Fran’s character growth. I loved that even if she loved Ollie after working with him, developing a friendship and finally falling in love... in the end she put herself in the end when she knew having him in her life was no longer healthy for her well being. Though these two did end up re-uniting eventually it was with the idea that they were both in a better place and that having experienced the loss of a potential soul mate, they would know how to treasure each other going forward.

This book was full of enemies to friends to lovers goodness, wonderful work friendships, great female friendships and a love story that grabs you by the heartstrings.

"Shall we pretend, Fran, just for a few moments, that we don’t belong to anyone else?"

When Fran lands her dream job at the Viral Hive the last thing she was expecting was to find the guy who took credit for her idea at the interview to also have started work with her. Armed with this instant dislike for him Fran tries her level best to be cold towards Ollie, but with them constantly working together on the same project, their relationship soon grows to that of work spouses, while growing to care for each other personally.

••

Things take a change of course when Fran breaks things off with her boyfriend at his firms Christmas party, realising she can do much better Fran pitches the idea of an online dating diary blog, in which she will detail the events of her online dating adventures with the Viral Hive readers. Fran embarks on a series of unfortunate dates all of which Ollie was strongly against. Things take another turn when Ollie announces that he is going to be traveling around the world with his girlfriend, long story short said girlfriend cheats on him prompting Ollie to return to London. Meanwhile Fran has had sometime to reflect and realises that she actually has feelings for Ollie. They have a falling out after revealing their shared feelings, which prompts Fran to move to the USA for 6 months to regroup. It is o ly when she returns does the very app that pushed them apart no bring them back together.

••

I have to be honest this book did drag a bit for, it had good bones but I found it was more a story of Fran discovering herself than a romance. It took very long for the main characters to finally come together and then when they did the novel ended. I will say Fran did have rather bad luck in picking men which made for humorous reading. I did like that Fran a d Ollie developed a rather tight bond.

••

I think Suze and Carlina were the perfect friends for Fran to have in her corner, as for Lydia I did not think much of her and the whole picking the guy over her friend issue. Chapman did a brilliant job at setting the scene of Viral Hive, so much so that I wish I worked there. As for Ollie I wanted to give him a kick for messing up a pivotal moment but he redeems himself in a rather cute way.

••

Swipe Right was a nice slow burn read more about a woman growing into her own rather than a romance.

This story will take you on the journey of one woman’s quest to find “the one” (or honestly, just a decent guy) on Tinder.
What I really enjoyed about this book is that the MC Fran decides to love her life in more honestly and speak her truth instead of staying quiet more often to keep the peace. Also, the dynamic between Fran and Ollie is very fun and relatable.

Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
the plot may sound predictable, but it's not entirely your typical rom-com.

Fran and Ollie met at a work interview. Fran is immediately threatened by Ollie's overconfidence and she felt her chances for the spot slipping away. but everything is well when both are selected for the job.
When they start doing successful projects together, their primary crossing slowly fades away, and they gradually start warming for each other. Eventually, they became best friends and work spouses.
Evidently Fran is instantly smitten by Ollie but she refuses to acknowledge it, because one, they are now colleagues, and second they are both spoken for.

Swipe right is an enemy-to-friends-to-lovers romance. the plot is funny and sweet with a contemporary twist and is radiating with warm fuzzy vibes. I had big trouble putting it down, as I felt instantly connected with Fran. She is adorable, outgoing, and fun, and has amazing loyal friends. And don't get me started Viral hive, how can I apply to work there?

Ollie wasn't my favorite character. I couldn't get over the fact that he was constantly stealing Fran's ideas.
I genuinely enjoyed Stephie Chapman's narrative. I was howling when Fran broke up with Lucas! really, If you feel down, just read that passage over and over. Perfect scene!
I think it took a little bit too long for the main characters to be together, for my liking, but in sum, I loved the book as a whole.

My thanks are due to Netgalley and Hera books for my review copy

This is definitely a book to read if you enjoy romcoms. The romance was a little bit too slow for me but overall it is a good read

A great romantic comedy about young people who are looking for love in places where love has nothing to do with.
For some people, online dating is working out but for many it doesn’t and that makes them more aware of their friends and how most of them are living a very superficial life.
I laughed out loud many times and I can totally understand the sarcasm in other scenes and I will recommend this book for an easy, funny and light story that many people will enjoy.

A highly entertaining story where fun and hilarious drama just made my absolute day. It’s witty, laugh out loud funny with quirky moments, great characters, with great drama and romance. As you can tell I loved reading Swipe Right and I think you should read this book too. 5 laughable STARS 🌟

This was a very fresh, bright, modern book about Fran, who we meet as she gets ready for a job interview.

From the off I was right there, giggling as she received multiple messages from relatives telling her to be herself but not too much(!) and going through that awful rigmarole that has to be done to get a job, the ‘we’ll put you into teams and you work together, but remember you’re against one another’ thing. It was vivid and real and I was right there, wondering about Ollie, who was an epic example of someone who can surprise you in the loveliest way with a tiny gesture when you least expect it, after thinking ‘just who does he thing he is?!’

I’ll admit I felt so old reading this, I literally just saw the phrase ‘for the tinder age’ now and thought ‘ahhh okay!!’ Saying that I absolutely flew through it, totally enjoying the chemistry, the settings and the vividness, all paving the way for an extremely heart warming ending.

Thanks so much to Sarah from Books on the Bright Side for the book in return for an honest review and for allowing me to be part of the blog tour.

I enjoyed this very much, which isn't something I can say about most of the recent chick lit books. This had the right amount romance and twists to keep me interested and keep the book moving. Is it predictable? Aren't they all? But the stuff in the middle kept it interesting and fresh. Anyone that has ever used a dating app will relate to Fran and will even have their own bad date stories.

A 2020 version of #WhenHarryMetSally. While Fran and Ollie meet at a job interview for a #buzzfeed -like company, they become fast friends who are secretly in love with each other but continue on with their lives - Ollie with his girlfriend and Fran with a boyfriend then single then on a dating app quest. Do they find their way to each other or stay platonic? Read the book to find out!

Swipe Right is such a heartwarming and hilarious read. I loved everything about it especially the sass that was thrown here and there.

Stephie Chapman explores modern romance in the digital age in her feel-good, uplifting and riotously funny romantic comedy, Swipe Right.

When Fran and Ollie first met, they didn’t exactly get off to a good start. First impressions where far from favourable with Fran finding Ollie to be vain and pretentious and the kind of man who personifies everything she dislikes in the opposite sex. Forced to work together at Viral Hive, the media agency they both work for, the two of them aren’t exactly overjoyed at the current situation. But as time goes by, they soon realize that maybe they had been hasty in writing each other off and they quickly realise that they can be friends as well as colleagues. Romance is not even a consideration for Fran and Ollie. While Fran is in a relationship with her boyfriend Lucas, Ollie is fully committed to his girlfriend, Lou. However, fate does have a funny way of turning things upside down as the two of them discover when Fran and Lucas’ relationship comes to an end and Ollie and Lou jet off on a round the world trip. One thing is for certain: life for the two of them will never be the same again.

Now single, Fran realises that she is going to use her current situation for an anonymous column about dating which she has started to write. With all the weirdos, pervert and misfits around, Fran has plenty of material to drawn on – from a tight-fisted cheapskate to a crybaby, poor Fran thinks that she has got more chance of flying than of meeting a nice, normal and well adjusted man. Just where all the good men hiding? Having heard every single platitude going, Fran starts to despair and wondering whether she will ever end up meeting Mr Right…or whether she should put all thoughts of romance on the backburner.

But is Fran simply being too negative? Is the love of her life under her nose and she is simply too distracted to realise? The time has come for Fran to stop thinking that modern technology is going to provide her with her happy ending and let fate lead the way…

Swipe Right is so much fun! A terrific romantic comedy fans of Sophie Kinsella and Lucy Vine are going to love, Swipe Right is a frank, funny and honest look at dating in the twentieth-century that will make readers laugh out, shudder in recognition and embarrassment and keep them completely and utterly riveted to the page. Fran is a lovely heroine. She is kind, funny and relatable and somebody readers will adore spending time with.

A romantic comedy fans of the genre are going to love, Stephie Chapman’s Swipe Right is a must-read that ticks all the right boxes!

A highly entertaining, light-hearted rom-com that leaves you smiling and feeling good. A very fun read.

Swipe Right is a friends-to-lovers romance, and it takes quite a while for our leads to realize they belong together. Fran, the female lead, is just starting her new dream job, with amazing coworkers and a fun office environment. Fran is also totally the wrong guy!

Once we kicks him to the curb, she uses a dating app and blogs about it. All the while, her coworker, Ollie, is there to support her and cheer her on along the way.

This is your typical rom-com, and while it is somewhat predictable, it is so fun and entertaining that you simply enjoy the journey. There is lot of heart, humor and lightness and fun.

Shall we pretend, Fran, just for a few moments, that we don’t belong to anyone else?

Story 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book is filled with many topics, like:
- how toxic some relationships can be (and maybe you don’t realize it or maybe just too late)
- how it is to date in a modern world (surrounded by assholes, sexist or people who objectify you. People who think paying for food means getting laid after)
- how dangerous it can be to send naughty pictures of yourself to someone
- how it is when two people meet, that could be great together, but it’s not the right time for them

But even though I loved it and I enjoyed it immensely I think sometimes there were parts that weren’t necessary and could’ve been cut out.

Characters 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Relatable / <s>strong/weak
</s> characters
Favorite: Fran (and Carlina, because she was such a good friends and so funny!)
Also: I was in love with the side characters, the supportive colleagues, boss, friends...

Relationships 🌟🌟🌟🌟

‘A date you go on to suppress the niggling feeling that you’re secretly deeply in love with your colleague who ran off around the world with his girlfriend.’

Like I said this book had many different topics, that are all in their own way really important.
The book itself is written in Frans Point of view so we get to see how she grows as a person, how great or terrible some dating experience can be.
How she realizes too late that Ollie isn’t just her best friend or work husband.
He could be more.
But there is one thing holding both back: they’re in a relationship with someone.
So it’s not the right time for them.
But maybe, just maybe, the right time will come...

Also I was in love with the relationship presented here:
Those two had a good vibe, they got along perfectly even though they argued sometimes, they listened to each other, were being supportive of each other, had insiders and jokes etc etc.

To be honest while reading this book I was sometimes really mad or sad at both of them. Or at the world. Or at the book.
But I also was happy and giggly sometimes, so I guess that’s normal.
That book made me feel some things and I think when books make you do that, they are good books.

Writing style 🌟🌟🌟🌟

If someone can’t be bothered to invest in an interesting profile when they’re trying to make a good impression, what else won’t they be bothered with?

Character driven / <s>plot driven</s>
a bit slow but nice / <s>perfect/ fast </s> pacing
Like I said it was written in Frans POV so we get to see her grow as a person.
I enjoyed it immensely, but sometimes I had the feeling there were too many details.
But all in all I really had fun reading the book! Definitely recommend!

Such a fun refreshing read!! I haven't read a rom-com in ages and this one seemed to come just when I needed it. It was cheesy and clique and totally annoying at times. But, it was funny and all that was enough to make all the other stuff ok. I'm not always a fan of slow burn romance but the author's humor makes all the slow parts (for me, at least) fly by!!

Enjoyable, relatable and funny. I thought was a great read for a lazy Sunday afternoon when you just want an escape.

This is a brilliant easy read - the age old classic of never wanting to see what is right in front of you, and it felt very modern and perfectly written for the 21st century twenty-somethings, battling the waters of online dating and expectations of friends and partners with a demanding job. I really warmed to Fran and Ollie, Fran in particular was very well written and I think any woman could perfectly relate to the trials and tribulations that she goes through! The book does have more depth to it than I was first expecting, which is definitely a positive and Fran and Ollie became two characters that I was really rooting for. A definite must read for hot summer nights.

I loved this modern take of when Harry Met Sally & appreciated the friends to lovers trope that it explores (which is one of my favorites!) I have to say, I'm glad that I missed on modern dating (& this book helps make it very obvious hahaha) Fran & Ollie's story was cute & very timely.

I've been on a big romcom kick, so I think that helped me appreciate this one even more!

I received an Arc from the Author and Netgalley for my opinion.

Stephie Chapman writes about the realities of modern day romance that sees the heavy reliance of media and apps to ‘meet’ a significant other before the dates occur.

Fran meets Ollie and they get off to a rocky start, when they’re both interviewing for the same job. Fran can’t help but secretly think that Ollie is attractive, but at the same time frustratingly obnoxious and full of himself. He is everything she avoids in a man.

Both Fran and Ollie and recruited by Viral Hive and they’re forced to work together. They get on with things and soon become friends - a dream team for their employer. Anything romantic is a no-go - Fran has a boyfriend, Lucas, and Ollie has a long term girlfriend called Lou.

‘Swipe Right’ is hilariously witty and the character of Fran is personable and brutally honest on her quest to find love, after things end with her awful boyfriend and Ollie has jetted off around the world, with Lou. Fran’s content for Viral Hive follows her anonymously writing about her dates and the possibility of finding Mr Right, but instead she finds herself writing about some real characters and their disastrous dates. The column really takes off and she fast becomes a talking point for everyone. Is this the way to find true love? Can she honestly keep putting herself through dates similar to the one she’s been having or does she resort to not looking and eventually find love the old fashioned way? Well, you’ll have to wait and see...

Swipe Right is a really fun book! If you’re a Sophie Kinsella fan, this is a book you should pick up. You’ll find yourself laughing out loud at Fran’s no nonsense, straight-talking attitude and cringing at the dates she has. How can someone be so unlucky?

A romantic comedy that hits the spot! It’s worth ‘swiping right’ for!

3.5/5

Fran's first impression of Ollie is he is too cocky, too confident and always like to be the centre of attention. She was less than happy when she get to know she would be working with him at Viral Hive. But soon she realized he is the one who challenges her, makes her attempt to do her best and he became her work spouse as everyone else in office likes to call them.

But when Fran’s relationship crumbles, and Ollie sets off with Lou for a round-the-world trip, she decides to start an anonymous dating blog. She writes about the crazy and the most weirdest date she found on tinder. And her blog is an all time hit.

But what happens when Ollie comes back? Is there any spark between them? Or it was just related to work?

Review-

Author has perfectly blended the work and personal life of characters. This is an office romance and author has done her best when it comes to describing work at media agency. It is not boring or too lengthy but interesting, simple and crisp. I love the office environment in the book.

Characters are very well developed. You can see their dilemma, their bad traits and their emotions beautifully. Every character is very well thought and is unique from each other. You will remember each and every character of this book.

The plot is interesting and if you really like RomCom you may even finish it one go just like me. But my problem was there is no twist & turn or high & low or anything shocking. The book was kind of flat to me. And even it lacks in humor section. The dating part has so potential and I was expecting a lot from it but it just didn't satisfy me much.

I love the break up part of Fran and Lucas. I so wish there was a video I would have watch it again and again. But I wish towards the end also Fran has maintained that fierce part. I wish author has made her more emotionally independent in the end.

Overall the book is very enjoyable, romantic and funny. But the lack of story curve and especially the ending disappoint me a little bit.

Fran has an interview at Viral Hive when she meets Ollie Taylor, who is up for the same job. They instantly seem to click and both end up getting a job there. As they become closer and become best friends, Fran breaks up with her boyfriend, and Ollie goes on a round the world trip with his girlfriend, and Fran decides to start a dating blog, which ends up going viral. On her quest for love, will she find The One?

I enjoyed this read. The characters were likeable and flawed, which made them human. Carlina and Suze were the perfect best friends for Fran, especially Carlina, who pushed Fran to be better and always spoke her mind, regardless of whether it would hurt somebody. It was a quick light hearted romance/comedy read, and some of the dates Fran went on were funny and some were just terrifying had you been in Fran's situation!

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook on NetGalley, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own!

At a time when everyone needs a little happiness in their life along comes Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman. This quirky rom-com novel, inspired by the film When Harry Met Sally, was just what I needed to temporarily divert my attention away from all the real life stresses and worries.

Fran and Ollie meet when they are both applying for the same job at online media company , Viral Hive, something similar to Buzzfeed. The interview process involves the candidates working together and Fran's initial observations of Ollie aren't very flattering, despite the fact that she barely knows him. She isn't too bothered though as after that day she never has to see him again right? Wrong! After being offered the job, on arriving for her first day who should also be there - Ollie! Viral Hive couldn't decide between Fran and Ollie so they decided they would hire them both and they could work together!

As they both find their feet and settle in to their new work environment their colleagues pick up on an undercurrent of potential romance between Fran and Ollie but they are both already involved with other people. Despite this fact they both seem to swing between getting on and getting on each others nerves! Will they ever be able to see what is staring everyone else in the face and get together?

Swipe Right was my first venture out with author Stephie Chapman and I don't think it will be my last. I found the characters very engaging, the story flowed well and there was a wonderful mix of laugh out loud and heartfelt moments. I'm so pleased that I'm happily married as some of the Tinder dates that Fran goes on in the name of her work would leave me mortified, but they made for hilarious reading! If you're looking for something to read that will whisk you away and lift your spirits then this could be just the book for you.

I adored this book. The main character was so relatable. I love the build-up and chemistry between her and Ollie. Again, I loved the fact it's based in London and how it highlights cross-city distance when dating. The character progress throughout the book is great. Will be recommending and re-reading.

I absolutely loved this book and not only did it have me laughing out loud in places, I actually snorted out loud too!
Fran is the sort of person that I know I could easily be friends with, and I liked Ollie from the start too so it was obvious they would end up together!

Fantastic book .... Would definitely recommend

I had an issue here. See, I don't like the male lead. He didn't sparkle anything at all. For me, he was just as bad as any fuckboy. There was a lot of "telling" about him -- they are best friends! He's so nice! But I don't see it. Maybe it's just me, but he was just doing the Bare Minimum all the time and being praised for it?
But this is not my issue. The issue is: this is SO WELL WRITTEN.
I wasn't sold on the bad boy good boy Ollie, but I didn't care. I loved reading it. It was really like watching When Harry Meets Sally, where I don't like the male lead, but I can't stop watching it.
I love Fran. She's a great mc, very relatable, full of charisma. Someone I see myself being friends with. And I also like all the second characters, Suze and dad being the best ones.

Slooooow burn, requires patience

Fran is incredibly confident walking into her interview, that is until she's paired up with Ollie who's an arrogant idea thief. They both wind up landing the job, off the basis of working together on a project. Fran isn't sure she's going to be able to make it a day without Ollie driving her crazy, but the rest of the office sees a connection between them. Both Fran and Ollie are in serious relationships but their friendship blooms to the point of work spouses.

I love seeing two friends fall for each other. As someone who married her best friend of eight years, I was able to relate having everyone around us tell us how right for each other we are. I also loved the hilarious accuracy of what app dating is like and how truly awful it is.

Overall I didn't love this book. For it being a romance, there wasn't much romance. It took too long to get to the main event. The book could've sped up by about 25%. The whole book circled Fran and Ollie's relationship yet there was only about 5 pages of it.

Thank you NetGalley and Hera Books for the eARC.

I’ve had this arc on my shelf for a while. Life and lockdown have slowed my reading down a little and, being completely honest, I prioritised a couple of other books assuming this one to be another ‘online dating disaster’ story. How wrong I was!

Swipe Right is a brilliant book, wonderfully written with excellent characters - I couldn’t put it down.

I absolutely loved Fran and Ollie. Fran was a very normal person. She enjoyed the odd smoke, which is so strange to read in modern books, but made her character even more real. Supporting characters were well described, unique and easily identifiable throughout the book.

The story is quite a roller coaster, one that keeps you interested with a few little curveballs thrown in.

I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting an enjoyable, romantic, funny novel that will grip you from the very start and have you rooting for the main characters.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for my advanced copy of this book 📚

Fran has just scored her dream job, she's now a digital content creator at Viral Hive. While at her interview, Fran meets Ollie who it seems Viral Hive also liked as when she starts work, he is there too on day one. The team at their new employer tell the pair that they were impressed with the pair's chemistry and would like them to work together on some projects. Cue the start of a beautiful relationship...

...but Fran has a boyfriend and Ollie has a girlfriend. When things get messy, Fran branches out on her own and tries her hand at internet dating. She blogs about her dates for work and when none of her dates pan out, she realizes that sometimes the right thing is right in front of you.

This was a really cute book. There are hints of cheating involved in case this bothers anyone otherwise I fully recommend this one if you're after a light and fun read!

Social media, online content and two people so intent on denying they like each other it was honestly kind of frustrating? Swipe Right is all that, and more!

The story
Love could be a click away… Or in the last place you expected.

The opinion
Look, I have to be honest here – when I first started reading Swipe Right? I just sort of went “oh great, it’s a BuzzFeed office romance” and put the book back down. That was a mistake on me behalf, I’ll admit it. Because when I (finally) convinced myself to get back to this story? I flew through it in about 2 hours. The kind of “didn’t get up, didn’t get a drink, ignored the fact I really did need to use the bathroom”-2 hours.

Fran, the main character, is a strong woman. Probably could do with a capital S in there. She also starts this book slightly out of her comfort zone, and in a relationship that isn’t necessarily the healthiest. I mean, it’s frustrating, because you see her make excuses for someone who really isn’t worthy of them. Following along, though, as she starts to realise exactly that, and then refuses to be put down any longer by the likes of him? That evolution in and of itself would make for a pretty good story.

Of course, that really is just the starting point of the story. The rollercoaster of swiping right, writing about her adventures, and of course: Fran’s friendship with Ollie… (And that’s not a spoiler, because, I mean, let’s be real, Swipe Right is definitely the type of book where you know, as soon as you start reading, what’s going to happen)

Everything combines into a story that was highly entertaining, fast-paced, offered a fun inside view into the world of BuzzFeed and the likes, and of course: delivered on the romance.

As I said: highly entertaining as well delivering where it needs to, Swipe Right is definitely one of those books I can see myself going back to later. Even if only to reread (and appreciate) Fran’s articles on her (horrible) dates!

This is a delightful read. The main character is so relatable and lovely - you really root for her to get the man she deserves. Humorous and heartwarming. I just couldn’t put this down!
