Jo and the School’s Out Squad discover friendship in their first adventure, The Raspberry Race, Jo gets schooled about being honest, but her biggest lesson is about human nature.
When 6th grader Jo Daniels gets into trouble for eating raspberries from her neighbor’s bush, she gets help from her friends Betsy, Tommy and Leonard, and discovers her neighbor isn’t who she thought she was after all.
This middle-school chapter book is filled with adventure and fun for children aged 9-12.
Hi! My name’s Jo Daniels. I like to ride bikes, skateboard, and read! My favorite books are mystery books. Sometimes I like to solve mysteries! But don’t tell my dad. I promised I wouldn’t “get into any more questionable shenanigans.” So I”m stickin’ to plain, ol’ shenanigans. Join me in a few! I’ll tell you all about them in my next story, “The Mystery of the Blue Dog.”

Absolutely loved this! I haven't read a children's book in a while and decided to pick this up on a whim. Did not disappoint. Super fun, and an overall easy read. |

Adorable book! Recommended for ages 9-12 and I would say that’s reasonable. My 6 year listened on with my 9 year old and she enjoyed it as well. |

Jo was in for it, this time, she was caught redhanded stealing of all things. Being a bright kid and all, Jo knew exactly how to get the help she needed to complete the task given to her as punishment. What she didn’t expect was to be rewarded in any way. A fantastic, fun, and exciting story, with great quirky characters, a fun read your kids would truly enjoy. |

Liked that this was an easy quick read. The story flowed well and had a great beginning, middle, end. Really liked Jo. She's tough and smart. And I enj9yed that all the friends had very different personalities. |

This book was the type of book you read and just smile and laugh. The kids will really enjoy reading this fun, loving book. Even though the girl gets in trouble, it is all teaching a lesson that kids need to learn and this book shows how. It is well written and an easy read. The book reminds me of Beverly Cleary book. If I had grade school age kids in my family, I'd get them this book! It's a fun read and the characters are relatable to the 3-6th grade group. I like the togetherness of the family and friends, it's a pleasant story for kids. Might make a good summer story, or with covid keeping so many home, this might just fill in some downtime from school work and social distancing. It's a quick, easy story. I'm looking forward to M. Carroll's next book! |
