****Forever Kind of Woman is about a woman doctor who comes to the small Texas town of Forever, in 1886, thinking she is to become the bride of the local doctor, but finds him in love with someone else. Left to minister to the town alone, this far from shrinking violet must win over the hearts of townspeople and the heart of her first love. The author has created a heroine with spunk that should delight her readers as she faces the challenges of frontier life. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley.

What I liked about this book was the care and attention to the story and description of the area where the story takes place. Unlike most Western Romances, this book takes place over at least six months time period, instead of weeks. I liked the story and the characters and supporting characters. The title comes from the name if the town. The heroine is a widow who worked as a surgeon with her husband. They worked together for years before he passed away. She married him because she was a medical student and her father passed away in the last year of school. He was a friend of her father's and he married her to take care of her. Then, many years later after he passed away she becomes a mail order bride for a doctor in a small Texas town this doctor is a typical man who feel that ladies should be regulated to supporting the house and their husband, no more doctoring for her. The hero is the Sheriff who lives next door. He sees her doctoring skills in action and he is amazed as to how excellent she is. He supports her and does his best to let her know how much he esteem her.
The story has a little danger and action, but a lot of practical instances from that time period. The only critique I have is the total misuse of words. In one case, she uses veritable instead of varied. This book is chock full of errors like this and needs a final editing read. I give it 4.0 stars because the misuse of words is so prevalent.

Tess moves to Texas to marry and join the medical practice of Dr Waverly. Once there she finds that her prospective husband is considering two women for the position of wife. She now finds herself in a holding pattern. Meanwhile, Sheriff Carter, a confirmed bachelor, is attracted to Tess and would like nothing better than to be her husband. Unfortunately both are in limbo subject to the whims of Dr Waverly.
Will Tess marry her doctor or will she follow her heart to law enforcement. I recommend you purchase this delightful story to find out.
Thank you Susan Payne, The Wild Rose Press and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

I obtained a complimentary copy of Forever Kind of Woman in exchange for an honest review. This was a quick read that made the reader feel like they went back in time. The storyline had a lot to offer and there was even some built in conflicts.

I was so disappointed that the author didn't exploit more chemistry between Tess and Sheriff Carter especially when they lived next to each other. The author also failed to tell any of the story from Sheriff Carter's viewpoint. Again, another lost opportunity to make this an exceptional historical romance.

I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
I found it difficult to get into and engage with this book. The writing is overly complicated and the characters one dimensional.
