Description

Framed for the murder of her best friend, a young girl joins a super-secret society of teenage assassins to avoid a lifetime behind bars--and discovers her own true self--in this mesmerizing debut novel.

Seventeen-year-old Signal Deere has raised eyebrows for years as an unhappy Goth misfit from the trailer park. When she's convicted of her best friend Rose's brutal murder, she's designated a Class A--the most dangerous and manipulative criminal profile. To avoid prison, Signal signs on for a secret program for 18-and-under Class As and is whisked off to an abandoned sleep-away camp, where she and seven bunkmates will train as assassins. Yet even in the Teen Killers Club, Signal doesn't fit in. She's squeamish around blood. She's kind and empathetic. And her optimistic attitude is threatening to turn a group of ragtag maniacs into a team of close-knit friends. Maybe that's because Signal's not really a killer. She was framed for Rose's murder and only joined the program to escape, track down Rose's real killer, and clear her name. But Signal never planned on the sinister technologies that keep the campers confined. She never planned on the mysterious man in the woods determined to pick them off one by one. And she certainly never planned on falling in love. Signal's strategy is coming apart at the seams as the true killer prepares to strike again in Teen Killers Club.

Framed for the murder of her best friend, a young girl joins a super-secret society of teenage assassins to avoid a lifetime behind bars--and discovers her own true self--in this mesmerizing debut...

This audiobook immerses the reader in a crazy world of convicted teenage killers. The story and writing style were more appropriate for teen than YA category.

The narrator does a nice job of bringing the story to life. However, during parts of the book she almost whispers the text and it was often inaudible, requiring that I adjust the volume in order to hear.

The author built a world that was a bit difficult for me to immerse myself within. She had my heart pumping during many riveting action scenes, but she lost me during some of the more atmosphere-building parts of the story. The Teen Killers Club itself was of particular concern and I think that it could have been developed in a more sophisticated fashion, even if teens are the target audience.

For parents concerned about the appropriateness of content, note that this book does contain scenes of graphic violence which will likely not be too startling to most teens, but might be for others. Sexual intimacy is discussed but I would say it does not cross the line into anything too explicit or erotic.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, the narrator, and the publisher for the opportunity to listen to this book. The opinions in this review are entirely my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio book in exchange for an honest review.

Imagine if Dexter went to summer camp or The Breakfast Club was made up of teen killers? I enjoyed this audio book immensely for its originality and great set of characters. 17 yo Signal is convicted of killing her best friend and sent to jail. She and seven other teens are taken from jail and brought to an abandoned summer camp to train and become special ops assassins. The only issue is Signal is not a killer and is a genuinely nice person.

Highly recommend the audio book. Narrator did an excellent job. I look forward to reading more by Lily Sparks.

Book 235 towards my goal of 280! 4/5 stars for this YA Thriller read. Another perfect Halloween read! This one isn't out just yet, so thank you to Netgalley for the early audio <3 Such a unique storyline. I love any and all books set at camp! Love the cover! Narration was great! Definitely recommend!

I really dig this book. Like... a lot. A murder mystery? Sociopaths? Teens thrown together under questionable circumstances? Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh and there's a cult. I loved how the secondary characters were fleshed out and the entire premise. Our main character, Signal, feels a little emotionally stunted for her age, but being a loner and then being in prison can do that to a person. My biggest complaint was the rather abrupt ending. I was hoping for big government conspiracies and... well... more... If this happens to have a companion novel later, I'll definitely read it.

4.5/5

You will be forever happy that you decided to read/listen to this extraordinary book. You will find dialogue that is genuine, realistic, and honest, you will find a love story that is, well, lovely and dramatic, you will find friendships that are relatable, you will meet characters to fall in love with and characters to hate with every fiber of your being, you will be a part of a mystery that is engaging and surprising in its execution, you will encounter suspense that is terrifying and ridiculous at the same time, and you will endure a perfectly intense ending that is a little twisty but believable. You will find this is all wrapped up in a neat little bundle that is really a commentary on how friendship can bring the best out of people and how deep inside all of us there is love to be found. And after reading you will discover an important message hidden within this thrilling and absurd novel: we are all complicated and we are all full of internal struggles and we are all shrouded by an external faux toughness. Maybe you will not see any of this or maybe just some of it. Maybe you will say it is a bit too clichéd or maybe you will say it is a bit predictable. But I believe you will not forget this experience easily.

PR: I cannot leave this review without mentioning the narrator Jesse Vilinsky. She totally rocked this! My god it was amazing listening to her bring this story to life.

I will update the feedback when my reviews go live on publication day.

THIS WAS SO GOOD!

This is not my usual type of book AT ALL. But it sucked me in from the very beginning to the very end. This book was very well paced. So much happened. I was never bored.

I had moments when I was a little frustrated with the main character. But then I had to remind myself she’s a teenage girl, and teenage girls make those types of mistakes all the time.

I thought this was creative, exciting, and very well written.

We will blame some of disappointment on my inept ability to read a synopsis all the way through. My brain processed the key points: Girl wrongfully accused of murder skirts prison time by joining an assassination training camp, even though she is actually squeamish about blood. This sounded interesting and I imagined something sort of campy with lots of action. I missed the part that noted this girl, Signal, would find love at the camp, which played a huge role in the story and, for reasons I’ll explain soon, wasn’t my cup of tea.

The writing is certainly worthy of praise and the story is solidly developed. It had a more serious tone than I’d expected, which was not an issue. This simply required some adjustment on my part. There was more than one page-turning mystery to unravel and I definitely found some of the reveals surprising. Lily Sparks has talent as a storyteller and while there were well-worn tropes within this, the book centers around a fresh concept.

I do appreciate the underlying message about judging others and having the capability to see beyond certain labels. This is a positive theme but the way it evolved in the story also had hints of toxicity. It seemed to negate the importance of comprehending that some people are genuinely dangerous; that there isn’t necessarily some saccharine personality hidden underneath that tough exterior. Since this is directed toward teens, I do feel mild concern over what is being conveyed to impressionable, developing minds.

There is a love triangle in this book, which I wasn’t fond of. I can see how someone like Signal could get caught up in this vulnerable predicament, but it frustrated me, nonetheless. Most of it felt very cringy and it also seemed to romanticize the “bad boy” notion.

My final gripe is that I found a particular villain came across as a major cliche toward the end of the book. I won’t detail this further, as to not spoil anything.

I think this novel holds promise, despite my qualms with it. It wasn’t the fun read I’d anticipated, but it held my attention all the way through and offered gratification with its twists.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my audio review copy. All opinions are my own.

Wow. I read the synopsis for this book, however I don't think I realized what I was getting myself into.

Girl *possibly* kills best friend.
Girl gets shipped off to camp.
Camp is full of killers - and is there to teach them to be even better killers.

I did find a few parts of the story confusing at times. One of the flashbacks confused the heck out of me and I'm not sure if it was the book or the narration of the scene that made it so convoluted. Other than that, the story was put together well. I liked Signal and the other campers were great too. It was nice getting to see several of them show growth as real people and not just "psycho killers." I also liked that I went the whole book without guessing who killed Rose. Was it Signal? Was it someone else? The ending brought it all together nicely.

The story was enjoyable. The audio performance was fantastic. I definitely think you should check it out. It's worth the read!

I got an audiobook review copy from NetGalley and I cannot stand the audiobook. The narrator is fine but it sounds so robotic that it's hard to listen to. Sped up especially it cuts out words and is impossible to listen to. I'm really sad that I couldn't listen to it because the concept sounds so interesting but I just can't.

I received a digital arc and an audiobook copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

<b> Spoilers! Not any of the major endings, but some smaller details and plot points. </b>

OH WOW. So do I have mixed emotions about this book.

The story revolves around Signal, a girl who believes she is innocent and was framed for the murder of her best friend Rose. She is given a second chance to live a life outside of prison by joining this secret camp of teen killers.

Right off the bat let me say I really really enjoyed reading this book and I REALLY hope the author writes a sequel. I was so excited for every time I had a chance to read a little more of this book, and to me loving the experience of reading a book is the most important thing. So 5/5 stars for that. I also adore the narrator for the audio book version and will probably seek out more that she's narrated.

The story was a really unique and interesting one and there was enough mystery to really keep you on your toes. Another thing I really enjoyed was it gave me, oddly enough, <i>Unwind</i> by Neal Shusterman vibes. The whole "group of kids who are hated by society even though they're just kids, now matter what they have or haven't done" thing is an obvious similarity, though of course in this book, these kids are actual former prisoners. But besides that, the talk of the Protectionists and the testing and classifying of individuals just really reminded me of <i>Unwind</i>. In both books, there are definitely those moments where you stop and think about the way we judge and handle those who society looks down on and kids in general. They're obviously very different books, but I loved those little similarities.

<b> That being said, I did have some issues with the book... </b>

While I loved getting to know these somewhat normal characters and this very not normal camp and all of the mystery and suspense that came with them, I am very over the teen book cliches that have once again shown their faces in this book. Love triangles, "The Bad Boy Who Isn't Good For You But Wants to Make Out Anyway", and "I'm Not Like Other Girls" tropes? It's unnecessary and overdone. These tropes by no means keep me from liking a book, but I do think they aren't necessary. Thankfully, after the first quarter of the book or so, the "I'm Not Like Other Girls" dies down a bit. In this particular book's love triangle, we have Erik starring as the guy who is a jerk at least 50% of the time, but because he's infinitely more interesting than good guy Javier who is so very bland (besides his back story), you end up rooting for Erik anyway. Or at least I did.

I also had a couple of moments that just left me confused as they seemed to be convenient plot points that didn't really make sense with the previous information we'd been given. For example, I was so confused about why everyone believed two of the characters were dating, when right after they supposedly broke up, one of them was making out and "dating" another person. I get you're a teenager at camp, but still. No one questioned it. Along those same lines, one of the campers had a huge issue with the main character, Signal, flirting with any guy, more so Erik but also any guy there. But when Signal ends up kissing a guy, suddenly the camper is rooting for her! I understand they had become sort of friends, but people don't just change their feelings like that. I just found it convenient that when Signal is finally openly ready to be with someone, everyone is now okay with it. It's a minor thing but it kind of bugged me.

My biggest issue with the book is probably the camp. I don't understand why they never really taught the kids how to fight. Where were knife lessons and lessons on defensive techniques? Maybe we are supposed to assume that they were taught that in between the scenes we actually read about, I don't know. But Signal sure didn't seem to have actually learned how to kill someone. I mean... what's the point in learning how to dispose of a body if there's no body to dispose?

How the book wraps up, the characters all tie together, and the mystery is solved has me really split. I won't say what happens, because you should read it to find out, but... I love when books tie things together and characters are connected in ways you may not have thought of, but in this book, I feel like some of the endings and connections come off as a little far-fetched and convenient. But then again, it's a book about a Teen Killers Club... what else should I expect?

<b> To wrap things up... </b>

Despite the many issues I had with this book, I really enjoyed it! I demand a second book ASAP! I NEED to know how and why certain people are alive and demand to know Erik's backstory. I was so disappointed that we never got to find out more about his past, but I'm hoping it's because the author wanted to leave room for Book 2.

I would definitely recommend this book as it's a great fast-paced read! 3.5/5 stars!

Teen Killers by Lily Sparks is not my usual style but I wanted to try something new and it did not disappoint! Lots of twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting. I found myself wanting to listen to it even when I was doing other things! The narrator was also new to me and she did a great job. I’ll be looking for other books with her reading them!
Teen Killers is the story of Signal, a teenager accused of murdering her best friend. After almost a year in prison she is brought to a camp where she meets other convicted teens. While at camp, they are expected to learn how to kill more efficiently, how to clean up after themselves, and how to not get caught. But she doesn’t fit in with the others. She finds no excitement in the tasks and soon finds herself making friends and falling in love, in spite of herself. When they are sent out on dangerous missions, though, she will have to learn fast. All while trying to figure out who really killed her best friend, because she is innocent.
Good book. Fast paced. Lots of fun! Definitely recommend.
Thanks NetGalley for the chance to listen to this story. All opinions are my own!

I requested this from Netgalley based on a quick glance of the synopsis, and I liked the cover. Knowing next to nothing about it, I was immediately pulled into Signal's life on the bus on the way to some "class A" teen killer's program. It started off with a bang that just makes you need to keep reading.
I really enjoyed Signal's time at camp getting to know these other teen killers. The more main-side characters I liked a lot. Nobody was one of my favorite, she started out completely terrifying but I liked getting to know her and how Signal tried to protect her and she repaid the favor. Javier (please excuse if the spelling is wrong since I listened to the audio!), Eric and Jada were great additions. Javier was the mysterious handsome dude, Eric was the cocky handsome dude and Jada was the spunky outspoken female. We didn't know much about Dennis at first (computer nerd), but I'm happy he got more of a role in the story as it went on. The others (Kurt and Troy?) kind of faded into the background.
Now, the whole reason Signal is considered a teen killer. She was convicted (or was she framed?) of her best friend Rose's murder. She doesn't remember a lot from that night, just that she was found with the dead body. I liked that this book focused on trying to find out who did kill Rose, if not Signal, but also focused a lot on the camp and the other campers. As the clues get put together, they find out it could have been this person...no, this person...no this person, and it all makes sense. It doesn't feel like unnecessary red herrings just to have them in there, but actually logical suspects from the clues they start to figure out.
After a man in a dog mask tries to kill the campers (SUPER creepy, on the edge of my seat scenes here!), they are sent out on their first missions, and this is kind of where I lost a tiny bit of interest. They end up at a cult on a farm and I just...why? By the end, it did make sense with the story and I liked how it all played out, but I'm not really one for a cult. I'm glad it didn't take up too much of the book.
It ended with a lot of hope (if this is a standalone book), but at the same time kind of on a cliffhanger that sets up nicely for a sequel that I would be very interested in reading!

Oh my lanta people. THIS IS NOT A DRILL, go go go preorder this book because it was one hell of a ride. I went in pretty blind, the cover and blurb was enough to make me request. I am thrilled I did.
The story arcs in SO many different directions throughout. It was almost like getting a story within a story three times over. Let us jump into our rag tag crew of misfits. I do not want to say too much because it is better to catch it all as it comes but I loved them. I loved camp, the twins, the girls, Jada and her cutting of people, and of course our romance. Signal our lead has some shit luck, and in way plays into the needed someone to save her trope, however not really. I think her compassion was her greatest strength and in turn, it showed out more because of her shortcomings in the physical.
Speaking on the romance its where my one and only problem comes in. We have a love triangle; I am cool with that, but cheating. I am going to try to lay this out as spoiler free as possible. I felt as though it could have been avoided. She could have just not made Signal official with the person. We still would have had the pull and the angst without the cheating. Book would have been perfect.
All that said the story was almost flawless. I will be biting my nails until the next one comes out. It was SO GOOD.
Narration was EVERYTHING get this as an audiobook people because Jesse Vilinsky out did herself. I love her narration usually but this was the best. She brought so much life to every single character, they each had such distinctive sounds that I would have known who was talking without the book telling me. tens tens tens across the board for her.
JUST BUY THE DAMN BOOK. You will not be sorry.

Oh my GOODNESS. I don't even know where to start. This book had me hooked from the very beginning. We follow Signal Deere and a group of Class A teenage killers who are sent to a "camp" to avoid a lifetime behind bars... But it is so much more than that. They are teenage assassins who must face new trials and tribulations as their time in camp progresses. There's a HUGE love traingle, a killer trying to take them all out and so many unexpected surprises throughout this story. AND THE ENDING?? I NEED more!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun thriller with wild twists and turns.

Signal has been framed for the murder of her best friend, and to escape life in prison she is sent to a camp for Teen Killers, a secret organization that trains teens to take out targets for the government without getting caught. But Signal isn't like the rest of the teen killers, she's innocent...or is she?

This book was a ride from start to finish! I was instantly hooked from the first bus ride. I loved the flashbacks and every one of the characters! God help me, I even loved the love triangle. This is such a thrill and the writing was addictive.

So, when will there be a sequel?

CW: murder, abuse, dismemberment, pedophilia, cults, gore

When your number means how many people you have killed, you know you are in for a thrill ride. Teenage killers brought together, false accusations and unexpected turns come together for an original and suspenseful tale. The audiobook was very well done. I felt as if I was there with the characters experiencing the crazy! Thank you NetGalley for my audiobook.

I didn't expect to care and love these characters so much. At the beginning, most of them creeped me out. I was worried and scared of what they might do to the main character but time passed, things happened and I ended up crying for them. How did THAT happen? ahah. This book almost broke me.
It took me by surprise and I loved every second of it.

In this story, you follow a wrongly accused teenage girl as she is sent in a camp to learn how to kill efficiently and how "to not get caught". They're prisoners and they have no other choice than to do what they are told before they're sent on a mission to kill a target. The fact that our FMC is innocent is even more scary since she has to fit in when all of this is terrifying and horrible especially since the other teenagers here aren't the most stable people out there. The atmosphere was on point and I was stressed out for her. The whole mystery about who really killed her victim was also interesting.

Overall, this book kept my attention from beginning to the end and I couldn't look away (or listen away in that case, I guess). I am really glad I got to read this book because it will leave a mark on me.

(Thank you for letting me read and review an ARC via Netgalley)

I was skeptical about this at first.

First off the narrator was ok, that being said there was some parts I had to take my hearing aid out because it was shrill.

Signal is a class A. Class A means they committed murder as a teen. She clings to her innocence about killing her friend.

A hand full of class As are heading to camp to learn how to kill and clean up their mess.

Signal falls in love, learns about her case and has to survive this crazy new life of hers.

WHAT. A. BOOK. I absolutely loved Teen Killers Club! It’s a cross between #MurderTrending and Twilight. A secret government program rounds up teen killers from prison to train them to be assassins at a repurposed summer camp. I loved following Signal and her friends as they try to hide bodies, run obstacle courses and learn how not to get caught. It was fast paced and I genuinely enjoyed the narrator.

Ok, this book was a treat. Unique plot, great writing, and enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of the page but wasn't confusing or overwhelming. All the best elements of a secret society with plot and pacing that I've not yet encountered. Definitely a great read for YA adults, but certainly not limited to that audience. Thank you, Net Galley and Lily Sparks!

One of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. Perfectly categorized, as this book has a little bit for everyone, or everyone that enjoys YA, that is. Suspense all throughout. A little bit of a love story, but not too much. An extremely interesting story idea. The narrator is one of the best I’ve ever listened to. I absolutely loved her voice and all of the different voices she used for the different characters. There was never any question or need for telling which character was talking. Fantastic listen. The end left it possible for maybe a second book, which I would love.

This book has it all. Action, adventure, MURDER??? I am honestly so happy I got to read and experience it early. I feel like the audiobook maybe the way to go for this one yall because it really helps you get into the head of our protagonist a bit more. I just wish it was a bit longer.

Overall, Teen Killers Club is a yes please of a debut.

This one got off to a rock start for me, as I was listening to the audiobook. But I am really glad I stuck to it! This has such dark and twisted vibes... I mean serial killers and camps? Sign me up!

So Signal goes to jail for killing her best friend but she doesn't remember doing it. This book was everything I never expected. I do think I need to go back and read it regularly without audio though.

Signal Deere is a seventeen-year-old girl framed for the murder or her best friend. She is doomed with a life sentence until she is given a chance at freedom; she can be liberated if she accepts to join the Teen Killers Club, a top secret camp transforming psycho teenagers into merciful assassins...

°°°
Narrated by Jesse Vilinsky alone, this audio still seems to have its full cast of actors. Vilinsky interpreted each and every character with such recognizable passion that I never doubted who was talking when listening to the audio. She embodied beautifully Signal as well, her voice matching perfectly her energy and her personality.
The pacing was sometimes a little bit off, and in those moments I would just rush a little the speed, but would quickly go back to the normal speed afterwards. It flowed more naturally that way.
All in all, I would definitely say the audio immersed me even more into the story, and have probably contributed to my clear appreciation of the book.

As for the story itself, I am fully in love with it. I don't have enough strong words to describe how I adore the unique plot line, the amazing yet twisted characters, the clear writing style and the epic ending. I have never read a YA mystery thriller such as this one before. The concept was one of the utmost original I have ever come across and the execution met the expectation. This is a story I will definitely want to revisit more than once in the future.

I highly recommend that book to anyone (please, just pick it up), but if your are looking for a unique twist on YA mystery thrillers, this one is absolutely for you.

I never thought I would be rooting for serial killers. This book takes morally grey to a whole new level. I'm pretty sure I went through all five stages of grief in the last five minutes of this book alone. Wow. Writing this review is difficult because I loved it so much. This went not at all how I expected it to. Holy plot twists, crazy romance, amazing friendships, a bet that the main character can't stop herself from making, and so much more. I decided to request this novel because it sounded like a cool idea for a mystery, and now, despite the fact that this book has yet to be released, I want the sequel. How would one go about getting that by the way? I have been screaming in my room until four in the morning about this book the past two days, and am writing this review at 2:33 a.m. This book had me all kinds of enthralled, leaving me so curious as to what would happen next. I love how this book looks at how we rate the psychological build of certain people as "'dangerous" and how that would apply in a world where that ranking system decides whether or not you will ever live a life outside of prison. I hated the original antagonists of the story, and came to realize they weren't even the worst part. The premise of this book is that the main character, Signal Deere, is investigating the murder of her best friend the night they were together, she was framed, and the events she doesn't remember. I am shaken to my core after reading this book. I had so many thoughts the entire time, of who I thought it was, what I thought was going to happen, and save for a single plot twist, every guess I had was wrong. So, yeah. I will be hoping and praying for a sequel to this book, and checking net galley frequently to see if it becomes an option. I am glad beyond words that I decided to request this book on a whim. This is one of the easiest books I have ever rated. A five star book in every single sense of the phrase. No matter what genre you prefer, this book has a bit of it all, and I will be recommending this to anyone who will listen. A special thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for accepting my request to read this book.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I wasn't sure i would like it, but the narrator is really good, and the story was interesting enough to keep me coming back.

Teen Killer Club was an entertaining listen and offered a good distraction from the world. Signal is wrongly accused of her best friends murder and is sent to an assassins training camp to avoid jail time. That being said, I thought this was funny with its morbid humor but I didn’t love this for a few reasons. I liked the writing and I do think the narrator did a good job bringing the characters to life. Signal herself was pathetic which I understand was the point but I didn't like how weak she was. I also didn’t care for the love triangle either. As for the rating, I’m caught in between liking it but also thinking it was okay. I thought the plot was interesting enough but sadly didn’t love this one as others have seemed to.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced audiobook!

Signal is sent to camp . . . for convicted murderers. Well, to be specific, Class A types. Not everyone at camp has a number, though. Does Signal want to disclose that she might not have one, either?

After the campers are partnered together for unique assignments, to take out a target, Signal starts to plan. She decides she wants to make a run for it, but discovers that the tracking device implanted is set to detonate if she breaches her route within a few miles. How will she escape her assignment?

Part romantic thriller, part murder mystery, Teen Killers Club will keep any reader on high alert.

I recently finished this debut novel by author, Lily Sparks, and I was really impressed! I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Synopsis: After being framed for the murder of her best friend, Signal finds herself serving a life sentence in prison. Meanwhile, a new classification system to rank citizens from least to most dangerous has been created, resulting in Signal receiving the most dangerous classification, Class A. Utilizing the new classification system, the government has created a top secret program for the most heinous offenders offering them a chance at freedom. With all appeals exhausted, and little details on the objective, Signal decides to join this new program in an attempt to escape the monotony of life in prison.

I loved the premise of this book! The ambiguity of the ending and almost dystopian type government makes it perfect for a sequel.

A YA thriller for fans of Nikita and murder mysteries. Wrongfully convicted for the murder of her best friend, Signal Deere faces a life in prison... until she's offered an out: join a secret government program training teen assassins. Only problem? She's never actually killed anyone. But she's been designated as a Class-A-- the most dangerous and unredeemable classification of criminal--so there's no hope of appeal. And at this camp where the number of people you've killed determined your standing, she's going to have to do her best to fit in as the hardened criminal she's supposed to be. But before she's through she's going to bring this misfit group of unrepentant killers together, because no one else is going to look out for them. And someone in the woods is determined to kill them first.

Misfit found family, complicated characters, twists and turns galore-- this had everything I could've wanted in a murder mystery thriller about teen killers forced to become assassins at a summer camp. A thoroughly entertaining YA thriller that is excellent in audio.

Book Review ✨🌙💫

“But hey, new girls, how many huh?”
“Getting straight to it I see”, Dennis says still not looking up from his paper.
“Dennis’ number is obviously 0”, Jada looks from me to Nobody again., “C’mon ladies, we already know each other’s numbers already. How many?”.
“How many what?”, I stall.
“She’s asking how many people you’ve killed”, the deep voice from the tree says. Only it’s not in the tree anymore, it’s right behind me. He’s crept down so silently I didn’t hear him over the wind rustling in the leaves. There’s a throb in my chest as my heart rate surges. I can feel him hovering so I don’t turn around. I pick up a yellow crayon and start drawing a line of stars across my paper, using all my focus to keep my hands from shaking.
Of course that’s the first question here. They’re killers . Underneath the bright shirts and construction paper, that’s all we have in common. We’re convicted murderers.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. The story follows Signal Deere who has been framed for the murder of her best friend, Rose. In an attempt to avoid prison, Signal signs into a secret program for 18 and under Class As ( the most dangerous and manipulative criminal profile) and whisked off to an abandoned sleep-away camp where she and seven other bunk-mates will be trained as assassins. Their first mission: to hide a body.

Thank you @netgalley and #dreamescapemedia for providing this audiobook. Thank you Jess Vilinsky @jsvilinsky for the narration. You rocked it! And thank you Lily Sparks @teen_killers_club for writing a great book. A beautiful 5 stars from me.

This book is crazy and I mean that in the best way. I was pulled in from the beginning but it was the twists and turns in the second half that really kept me engaged. The narrator of the audio book Jesse does a great job at playing Signal and voicing all the characters. I laughed and cried along with her. Even though Signal is at camp with a bunch of class A's, the writer makes them all empathetic. You feel for every one of them, even Eric. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves YA and thrillers.

Engrossing from the first (audio) page! An exciting and thought-provoking story of found family among misfits. Sparks strikes a delicate balance between the salacious details of a gaggle of teen murderers and the rich and complicated inner lives of those characters.

<i>ARC provided by NetGalley for Honest Review</i>
4.5 I Need MORE {NOW} Stars
While sociopaths and crazies are usually my thing, I went into this book fairly reluctantly. So many of my peers were reading it so I figured I'd give it a go myself when I saw it on NetGalley. I am so flipping glad I gave this book a shot because it was really great. The concept is so unique and well elaborated, I really hated to see it end. This was a fairly thrilling read throughout and as Signal tries to get to the bottom of her friends murder, the same murder she's been charged and locked away for, there's so much going on that Signal really struggles to even stay alive. At different points during the book it appeared like this person or that person was guilty including Signal. The end I did not see coming and there's still so much left hanging I really hope we get another book. ***Stop reading to avoid spoilers*** I need Team Eric/Signal to take down the program, save their friends, somehow miraculously get Signals incarceration overturned and her innocence known. Obviously she's really the only one who can be free because the others are actually guilty. But maybe taking down a government agency even worse than them can work in their favor. Who knows, all I know is I need answers lol So many people owe her a Gods damned apology it's not even funny. Love how only a real psychopath saw through her innocence. Really loved this! The audio was also really well done and the narrator did an amazing job with inflection for each character.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh man, Teen Killers Club was a wild ride. In the beginning, it was so creepy because all these kids were freaking creepy. I honestly had no idea what I just walked into but I wasn't going to back out either.

In this, you will meet Signal. She is 17 years old and was wrongly accused of murder. She kept saying she didn't do it but no one really believed her. What a bunch of assholes. So being deemed a murderer, she get's sent to a creepy ass camp to learn how to kill more efficiently. Weird? Hell to the yeah.

Due to this camp taking a note out of the movie Suicide Squad, all these teens have no choice but to obey their comments. No matter what they are. Mostly because they have a tracker in their neck and they can basically be killed with a single push of a button. Once they get these missions, they have to follow the path to and from the camp. If they step outside the line, they die. If they don't complete the mission, they die.

Basically, they die if they don't kill someone or something.

Besides all of that, I was completely on the edge of my seat for the entire book. I can't even begin to explain my love for it either because of all the twists and turns throughout it either. I'll even admit that I almost threw my phone at the wall when I was getting closer and closer to the ending.

Hot damn, this book was so freaking good. Definitely recommend it.

With 2020 being the absolute disaster of a year that it is, sometimes you need an equally WTF type book to jar your numbed senses, which is exactly what Teen Killers Club brilliantly does!

Signal Deere (yep, that’s her name and my only real gripe with the book) was convicted of murdering her best friend and labeled a Class A murderer (the most dangerous and manipulative). In order to avoid life in prison, Signal agrees to join a secret program designed to train Class As under the age of 18 as assassins. Unfortunately for Signal, she’s not actually a murderer unlike her new bunkmates at camp, and it doesn’t take long for everything to go terribly wrong.

This story really takes the fun and excitement of summer camp and turns it into this dark and sinister setting where these teenagers are literally being trained to not only assassinate people but also ensuring that they don’t get caught. If you have a weak stomach and gore bothers you, you may struggle with this one a bit. These teens are literally learning how to properly dispose of bodies, which can range from digging deep trenches to liquefying bones. The writing of this story is incredibly vivid and immersive, and I honestly felt like I was in camp hell alongside the team.

The characters from this story are incredible, and they are the epitome of a rag tag team. Signal is our MC, and she definitely has the most to gain and lose since she can’t remember what happened the night her best friend was murdered, and she doesn’t have the penchant for murder like the rest of the team. Considering there’s a sizeable cast, each of the characters are really well developed and perfectly play out their respective roles. I never thought I’d come to love some of these murderous teens, but alas, here I am.

There is a love triangle in this story, which the author executes really well given the circumstances that these teenagers are faced with. I am not going to go into details, but I definitely appreciated the challenges that were addressed.

The pacing of the book was steady and held my attention. You have the unsolved murder mystery of Signal’s best friend Rose, but you also learn about why each of the teenagers have been sent to this camp and the crimes that they respectively committed. Furthermore, learning about the inner workings of the camp itself was both highly disturbing and fascinating. I never felt like the plot became stagnant. I was definitely engrossed through out.

If you’re looking for a great “escape” read, I definitely recommend this one. It’s one hell of a roller coaster ride packed with plenty of twists, turns, and murderous happenings.

Thank you to Crooked Lane Books for the tour invite and providing a review copy. This did not influence my review. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved this book. I think it will be much discussed when released. Plus, it's a great audiobook with.str9ng narration.

Teen Killers Club is a book about humanity and redemption. It's a fascinating.look into the minds of those deemed as killers and how others want to manipulate them.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for sharing this book. All thoughts are my own.

As a recovering camp counselor, I couldn’t help but read Lily Sparks’ Teen Killers Club and be immediately taken back to summer camp. There were a few differences between Signal and my experiences though. The main difference was that my camp wasn’t populated with violent murderers.

I found this book at a time when I desperately needed an escape from reality and Sparks overwhelmingly obliged. With pieces that reminded me of Wet Hot American Summer, techno-music science projects of CSI, and teen drama of the OC I was hooked.

Oh yeah, watch out for the weirdo in the dog mask.

Thanks, NetGalley for the access and opportunity.

WOW! This was SO good! Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the Audio ARC of Teen Killers Club.

It was entertaining, witty, imaginative, unique, and had heartfelt moments. It had elements that reminded me of the Amazon Prime Hannah show, The Borne movies, and a dash of Breakfast Club. I loved the characters and banter, I was surprised by plot points or reveals multiple times, and I liked the narrator.

I loved, loved, loved this book! I did not want to stop listening to this book. I did not think I would like it with the premise of a group of teen killers put together in a "camp" to train them to be assassins. I really liked the character development, plot, action, just WOW! The whole book was surprising, but the mystery surrounding the
murder Signal was convicted of committing, had so many twists! I had major "book hang over" after this book. I also liked the narrator. I highly recommend this book!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for a free audiobook ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book totally took me by surprise! I was totally engrossed in the story, trying to figure out if Signal was innocent or not and what secrets the other campers were keeping. This went in so many ways, I constantly doubted myself and my theories. There's also an interesting love triangle to add a bit more drama and keep us sucked in.

Signal has been (wrongfully?) convicted of killing her best friend and classified 'A', the worst level of offender. To avoid prison, she's joined a camp for other class A's, but she gets a surprise when it turns out the kids are learning to be assassins. Signal isn't cut out to kill people, so she begins to unite the kids and tries to convince them that they're better than murder and need to get out. She bonds immediately with Javier when he helps her with their tasks. He's sweet and doesn't seem to fit in the merciless killer box.

The other guy is Eric, who has the most kills of anyone at camp. He's known to manipulate others, get in their heads and exploit their weaknesses. He and Signal have clear chemistry, but it's hard to tell if he's interested or just playing with her. I was torn between who to root for for most of the book, but by the end I knew who was the right choice.

The killer storyline was twisty and well done. I would have liked more of the characters' backstories and the ending is pretty open. I hope their will be a sequel, please?!!
The audiobook narrator did a great job. She really put herself into it and added little details that made it even better.

Teen Killers Club had me hooked right from the beginning. The audiobook narrator was great, a perfect choice able to convey the struggling, and wrongly convicted Signal, as well as the cast of campers she finds herself with. This quick paced book is YA, but besides a couple of scenes focused on kissing/being unexperienced in relationships it doesn't feel young. There was good character development for the campers, surprising twists and turns, a bit of romance, and action galore. The premise of murders being categorized on their level of derangement, and the most dangerous "Class A" teens being trained to be professional killers is extremely interesting. Throw in the fact that the main character, Signal, comes to camp having never killed anyone before, and looking at this as an opportunity to figure out who actually killed her best friend. There isn't a dull moment. This is a "summer camp" like no other. And the ending - wow. I'm content with this conclusion, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I want more of the Teen Killers Club.

I volunteered to listen to this book through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. The narrator did a great job reading this book. The pacing of this story is great. I highly enjoyed this audiobook. I would definitely recommend, this audiobook to anyone, and everyone. This audiobook will be in stores on November 10, 2020 for $24.99 (USD). The narrator did a great job, I can't wait to listen to more books narrated by her. And I can't wait to read more books by Lily Sparks.

Listen to this book. Or read this book. Either one, I listened to it because that is how I was able to get it.

A group of teenagers who are labeled violent and dangerous beyond redemption are taken from their prison sentences and brought to a camp to teach them to be more productive and competent killers! This is a world where people are rated, some before they have ever committed a crime, and labeled by level of danger they present. Our kids have been labeled with a big old A (for Assassin, it seems) The lessons they learn are harsh and shocking. They ARE teens who are being trained with the intention of being sent on assassination missions. What could go wrong with that plan?

Signal is a little different because she is pretty sure she hasn't killed anyone. I mean, she is more than 90% sure she didn't kill her best friend. She definitely does not remember doing it. The courts disagreed. Now she is going along with the hope that she can find out who really did kill her. And who and why she was framed for the murder. just in case it wasn't her after all She is almost certain it wasn't. Pretty sure.

The other teens she meets at camp have far less trouble with the murdering and the body disposal. Can we just stop and think the setting here? A creepy, closed down summer camp being used to train kids to kill without getting caught. How perfect is that? Not every teen is as innocent as Signal assumes she is. Some have racked up quite a kill rate. You wouldn't think that they would be a group you could trust or depend on. They are all she has, though, so Signal gets past that. She does find that there are people she can trust as she tries to solve the mystery of the murder she has been convicted of committing.

Oh, and there are people in masks trying to murder them, too.

Sure, this book gets a little weird. That is what is so entertaining about it. A serious and factual book about teenagers being trained to be killers for an off-book government agency is pretty dim. You have to make it weird to make it less depressing. I enjoyed the banter and the sarcasm that sprang up between the characters most of all. It's not easy to make teen killers even a little likable.

3.5 stars!
Signal is arrested and imprisoned for the murder of her best friend, Rose, after she is discovered at the scene of the crime. She is given a Class A rating due to the violent nature of her crime and being seen as an extremely dangerous prisoner. She is approached by a government official who offers her the opportunity to be released from isolation and sent to...camp? When she arrives, she discovers she is joining a group of other Class A juvenile felons who are being trained as assassins for the government. Signal meets the other campers and shortly realizes her life will never be the same.

The characters in this story are fascinating! Signal was very likeable and who doesn’t enjoy a love triangle? She becomes the love interest of two very différent boys at camp and a nice subplot develops out of that. She navigates new friendships along with her new relationships and the reader slowly learns about the other campers and their pasts. I did find the plot a little wonky as it weaved in and out of Signal’s quest to prove her innocence and the problems at camp. The author’s voice came through clearly in her writing and it is definitely set up for a sequel! I listened to this on audiobook thanks to @netgalley & @dreamscapemedia and I did not love the narrator. Her voice kind of grated on me a little bit as every line was read very dramatically, even lines that were just transition sentences. Overall, a very unique YA thriller that you will like if you enjoy character development!

She is innocent, she is not a murderer. Yet, only Signal Deere knows this is true and the reason she is headed to a secret killers compound. Can these murderers help her prove her innocence or will she became one of them? The Teen Killers Club is a fast paced mystery suspense novel. Sparks weaves a complex murder mystery with physiological elements to create a multi tired plot that will have readers thinking twice if they really know the characters. Signal is an innocent teen who is thrown to the wolves and must navigate her way through a special force for murderers. While the premise of the plot is intriguing, Signal is shallow and the reader does not get much depth or foundation of who this protagonist is. Very little of Signals past and her relationship with her deceased friend is given. This makes the set up for the whole book flimsy and unengaging. Readers learn more about the other members of the Ten Killers Club and even this information is not very much. The testing for admission to the compound is mentioned in passing and not really thought out. The school itself is loosely based on a training facility and does not offer any "assassin training" to aid the teens. Overall the book is a fast paced mystery that does not have any real depth to it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Murder mystery fans will enjoy this. Give to readers who liked A Good Girl's Guide to Murder or Sadie. Signal Deere has been convicted of murdering her best friend and rated as "Class A". Instead of serving out her sentence, she is taken to a camp where she and other Class A, convicted murderers learn to become assassins. It's an interesting premise for a plot and it is well-executed (no pun intended) for teens. There are a few feel-good, camp moments that don't quite fit the narrative or mood. Not all the characters are well developed, but, at times, you end up sympathetic to those that are. Then you remember that they killed a bunch of people and why should you be interested in this tangential love story. Mentions of sex and assault place this in high school collections.

Gory and icky and fun and mysterious. Glad to buddy read this with my favorite 15 year old. Lily sent a hard copy to Esther, so I grabbed the audio so I could guide her through her review on the podcast. It went really well. We disagreed about which characters were our favorites and our least favorites and agreed that this is definitely a great book for older teens that aren't creeped out by blood and gore.

Wow hi this was absolutely the most fun book I’ve read this year. Now please excuse me while I attempt to calm down and stop shaking so that I can write a proper review.

Teen Killers Club was a tremendous pleasant surprise that well exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical because of the hokey title (is it too late to change this? It really doesn’t do the book justice), but I was hooked from moment I started reading and continued to be impressed by this fun, intricate and somehow both creepy and heartwarming thriller.

Heroine Signal Deere and I don’t have much in common (personally, I would LOVE to go to assassin camp), but I found myself adoring her anyway, along with the rest of the band of quirky, enigmatic misfits tabbed as dangerous Class As and sent into a deep state government training program that turns teenage violent offenders of the worst sort (or are they?) into professional killing machines.

The dual storylines of life at camp and Signal’s attempts to find out who the real killer was in the murder she was convicted of weave together beautifully, both plot lines equally riveting and magnetic.

The audiobook narrator was also exceptional. She reads with such intensity and spirit, but never feels hammy or overly emotive.

If you like action/suspense stirred in with a heaping dose of character-driven psych, then this is the book for you, especially if you like those things with a side of the delightfully creepy. Oh, who am I kidding? This is the book for EVERYONE.

I just have one question: How am I ever going to survive the wait for a sequel?

Designated as “Class A,” the most dangerous and manipulative criminal profile, Seventeen-year-old Signal Deere is convicted of the murder of her best friend and faces life in prison. Her only other option is to go to a camp for teenage killers and learn to be an assassin. During training, she bonds with her fellow criminals, and it quickly becomes apparent she’s not one of them. She didn’t kill Rose. She couldn’t have. If only she could remember that night. As she races to find the answers that will clear her name, she faces the real assignment of killing someone, and the further she gets into her assignment, the more she realizes it’s not just a random person.

I loved this book. It’s everything I seemingly do not enjoy in a book, killers, murder, true crime, and mystery, but somehow this all comes together into a work I couldn’t put down. I even squeezed in a few minutes while doing back of house tasks at work to finish it up. I desperately wanted to know who killed Rose, and I loved the twists and turns as Signal tried to remember the night/discover who killed Rose.

There is a bit of a love triangle, which I wasn’t the biggest fan of, but it’s enough of a side story that it didn’t detract from the thriller aspects and character development too much, and in more than one situation, it pushed the plot along, so bonus points to Sparks for that.

It’s freshly out, so be sure to check it out if you prefer your YA with a bit of a harder edge with more adult themes and more of the pace of a thriller.

WOAH WOAH WOAH

Normally people would frown upon becoming an assassin but these are bad ass female characters that I didn’t have in books when I was growing up. We didn’t have books that tackled these issues so head on with the right amount of snark and the right about of serious that wasn’t cheesy but relatable to teens. A lot of books fall through on the snark because the author wants to be “down with the kids” but this book just kept it rolling and it felt natural.

Also the author played into my guilty pleasure of the camp/secluded environment trope so I had to love it anyways.

I’ve read nearly 150 books this year and this one is definitely in my top 5. Wow! My favorite thing about it is that is different than anything else I’ve ever read. The audio narration was fantastic. This story has a little bit of everything. Mystery, action, romance, snarky dark humor. I usually only listen to audiobooks on my work commute but I couldn’t put this one down. This book got me excited for laundry so I could listen while I folded. I loved it and would recommend it to literally anyone. Thank you NetGalley, author, and publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

"There is no such thing as good and evil, just strong and weak." but I don't believe that...I believe there is evil, and evil begins when we do what we know is wrong, out of fear......
What an action packed, gruesome-yet-glimmers-of-hope page turner! Just when I'd think I had the story line figured out...wham... along would come a twist to bring me up short.

Main character Signal, psychologically labeled as a (worst-of-the-worst) "Type A" is pushed into making a deal with people running a black-ops type camp for assassins. Having been framed for a murder and mislabeled, Signal arrives at camp and is immediately out -of-her-depth. She is not only faced with grueling physical training, but one early assignment has Signal desperately trying to hide/dispose of a body [it is a camp for assassins after all]. Signal and the other campers are supposed assets for the organization, but are brutally treated and forced to wear "kill switch" implants, making Signal question whether she and the other campers are as interchangeable and replaceable as gears in a machine to be used and discarded without thought.

While the truth behind Signal's story is revealed, Signal learns her own truths about her humanity and she vows to find a way to regain a hold of her soul and choices.

I will recommend this book to my library students because Signal's story is just the type of book that older middle school students and high school students wanting a thrill, will dive right into. From page turning thrills to a bit of romance, this book tell quite the story.

This audiobook was addicting. From the minute I started it, I couldn’t stop. I listened to it all in one day with my full attention.

Standardized testing in school is nothing new, but what if they weren't just testing your knowledge, but your personality, looking for those students who might show violent tendencies, or mental illness, or serial killer tendencies. People now known as Class A’s . Signal, the resident goth girl is a loner, with just one friend, until that friend winds up dead and the only suspect is Signal. After conviction Signal is looking at a lifetime of prison, or take a job that will probably kill you young.

This job includes preying on those serial killer tendencies to take out targets of value to the government. But before the first assignment, comes training camp. And I mean camp, in cold cabins and everything. Think camp Crystal lake before Jason. But when your camp activities are dismembering fake bodies and trying to hide the remains, you better get it right, or your might be the next remain.

This book is about more than blood and guts. There is a true mystery, and a love triangle that keeps the story moving. Plus lots of blood and guts for those of us that like it. In a way it reminds me of #Murdertrending and Clown in a Cornfield while at the same time being completely different. This book was so much bloody fun I am highly disappointed I have to wait for the next one. But I do know for sure that I will not be deleting this audiobook because I see myself revisiting it before book 2 arrives.

I found this novel quite interesting. It places the reader into the perspective of someone who is innocent, yet punished for the crime. I wish there were some other references to the other characters, like Rose or Eric. It does end on a cliffhanger, which was great.

The protagonist is a convicted teen murderer who has no recollection of her accused crime. Still, she is sent to a camp for teen murderers with the express purpose of learning how not to get caught. As the story progresses, she learns more about her campmates, each developing into rounded characters, and the multilayered mysteries began to show themselves. This book was well-written, engaging, and found the perfect balance between giving closure and an opening for a sequel. It's a great addition to teen libraries!

Signal doesn't remember what happened before she woke in a barn, holding the dead body of her best friend. All she knows is that she was convicted of murder, tested and labeled as a Class A (only used to describe the most gruesome killers), and sent to jail. When she is moved to a camp-style assassins training camp, Signal is surrounded by other Class A's--all more dangerous than herself. As Signal tries to complete the various assassin tasks like dismembering a body, cleaning up after a murder, and mastering the dreaded obstacle course, she realizes that none of the Class A's are exactly like they seem. When it becomes clear that Signal was framed for her best friend's murder, Signal must rely on her assassin peers to solve the mystery.

Teen Killers Club is an adventure packed mystery/thriller that is a step up for fans of Camp Valor and #murdertrending. Although a bit descriptive in the violent murder sense, the humorous tone is a sharp contrast to the content. Audio was fantastic.

I listened to the audiobook version of this title. I thought Jesse Vilinsky did an excellent job. It was really well read. The book itself was a unique concept and interesting. The perspective of the storyteller was somewhat expected, but it was done well. The love triangle was a little forced, but overall it was a good read, for older YA (wouldn't recommend for my teen).

What do we do with teens who kill? Teach them to not get caught of course!
Signal is a "Class A" felon in prison for murdering her best friend. Signal maintains her innocence, however, she is resigned to the fact she will spend her life in prison. So when an opportunity to leave prison and go to a secret "camp" she jumps at the chance.
What Signal doesnt know is that this camp is full of Class A teens and they are being trained to kill, and trained how to not get caught.
When training is done, they have their assignments, will they succeed?
This story has a great group of characters, and an interesting storyline. It shows now everyone is who they seem to be. I couldn't put it down!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free audiobook ARC of Teen Killers Club! So right away the premise of this book got me and stories about framed murders fascinate me. There was a love triangle that I was kind of meh about... and an introduction of a cult! Also fascinated by cults so I liked that plot point. There were a couple of twists I did not see coming! Overall I really enjoyed this book and the narrator was AMAZING! Perfect for the characters.

Thank you Crooked Lane Books for the finished copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media as well for the free ALC. All opinions are my own.

I listened to the audio and I think it’s helped get me out of my slump. This book was definitely not what I expected at all and then it turned into even more than I could have hoped for!

I’ll get my one gripe out of the way first; I’m not a huge fan of the love triangle trope so I could have done without that aspect.

Everything else, however, made for an awesome YA thriller (maybe even a tad horror?) that was completely original. At one point, I was kind of like okay where is this going, but the way everything came together at the end was mind blowing! Plus there’s a cult! Who doesn’t love a good cult?

I definitely enjoyed the narration. The part that sticks out the most for me is the cult scene where there’s a lot of chanting going on. Props to the narrator for giving me actual chills! Super creepy.

Overall, I really loved this book, even if the love triangle was a huge portion of the plot.

Signal is in jail for the murder of her friend, but she could never guess where life will take her next- A camp for teen killers to learn how to be better killers.

This audiobook dives into Signal's life at this camp and her continued fight to clear her name. Listening to her struggles and winning moments was brought to life by the narrator in this story. The twist of this story was one I didn't see coming and made this story for me.

There were a few points that seemed a bit far fetched for me, but the story was so enjoyable I was able to overlook them.

While I was not a huge fan of the voice actor who narrated the book, the story was good enough to get past that. This story follows Signal Deere, a teenager accused of essentially beheading her best friend in a shed in the woods. Though she doesn't remember much of that night, she is convinced she was framed, but it's too late. She's on a list of kids rounded up and taken to a camp to train to be a teen, covert operative tasked with killing targets-- or rot in jail for a crime she doesn't think she committed. However, the other campers are all essentially teen serial killers, so they can't know she's not one of them.

I can definitely see how this is progressing as a series. Would make a great CW show, especially if you're into the will they/won't they/who to choose dynamic like Team Stefan vs. Team Damon.

When Signal wakes up with the dead body of her childhood best friend, Rose, in her lap, she has two options. Either she can spend her life in prison with no chance of parole, or she can join a secretive government training program to develop teenage killers to take out dangerous targets. Signal chooses to join the Teen Killers Club and is suddenly thrust into the hazards and stresses of training alongside skilled and experienced teenage killers. But there’s a catch, Signal didn’t commit the crime she was convicted of and she has never killed anyone. Will she survive inside of camp? Can she figure out who did kill Rose, and clear her name? Will she ever have her first kiss? Teen Killers Club by Lily Sparks perfectly combines all the drama of teenage life that YA Fiction demands with the chilling and gruesome narrative twists and turns that True Crime buffs obsess over.

If I could, I would give this book 3.5 stars! It took a long time for me to get into this book, and I didn’t feel engaged with it until about the 60% mark. But, once I was in it, I was really into it! This story has so many unexpected twists and I felt like I was unraveling the mysteries at the core of the book at the same time as the characters. I know this would have been one of my favorite books as a teen, but as an older reader I felt a bit more removed from the story and found the quickness with which the characters bonded to be somewhat unbelievable.

So I initially requested this book because of the awesome cover and title. Turned out it lives up the amazing cover. This is a weird story of a group of misfits from prisons being used as assassins. I enjoyed the characters and their back stories. I would absolutely be down with a sequel with this group. It doesn’t feel like their story is quite over yet.

My initial reaction to this title went a little something along these lines . . . .

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

And I surely was not disappointed at the onset where a bus of juvies being transported to a new facility seems to be taking a bit of a detour – calling to mind a potential YA version of Con Air.. That wasn’t quite the case, but still the idea of an algorithm that rates your potential for murder and arson on a scale of D (being a benign granny) to A (true “human-sharks” a la Charles Manson) was still right on brand when it comes to things I enjoy. And the idea of . . . . .

“We want to use Class As’ skills in a … productive way.

“We’ll be training you to kill people.”

Well, as the late Kurt Cobain once said - here we are now, entertain us : )

Unfortunately this fell victim of YA selections of the past with a real Mary Sue for a leading lady who was more concerned with receiving her first kiss and relying on the kindness of a real stupid effing love triangle strangers rather than learning how to kick some ass when given the opportunity. This had true potential for being 4 Stars, but between the kissing stuff (I mean, really, aren’t we better than that at this point????) to the whodunit reveal that more than kind of jumped the shark (additional twists instead of the most obvious solution aren’t always necessary) and the ending leaving this wiiiiiiiiiiide open for a follow-up has me saying that's a pass for me, dawg..

3 Stars because I was entertained for the majority of the book and because I'm well aware that I am not the target demographic.

When I read the synopsis of this audio book, I knew I would like it and it did not disappoint. Killer teenagers is a great storyline. I really enjoyed the characters and it was a little predictable but overall I had a great time reading it and will read more from this author in the future!

3.5
I enjoyed this but found it a bit predictable (which isn't necessarily a terrible thing). I think the premise of a club of killer teens is pretty fascinating but the way everything played out made me feel.. fine/meh? I wasn't on the edge of my seat until the last 10%. I think the ending was well done for the most part and I thought how everything wrapped up was pretty interesting. This is a bit nit picky but I couldn't get over the MCs name. Every time I heard it I was confused and had to remember that's her real name (same with Nobody), because everyone else had "normal" names. Lastly, I really disliked the love triangle we had going. I usually don't like love triangles so that one is more of a me thing than anything else in this book.

TEEN KILLERS CLUB is a fast-paced YA thriller. While serving time for the violent murder of her best friend, Signal is transferred to a training camp where she and other violent teen killers hone their killing and concealment skills. Signal's more kind and empathic nature stand out from the other teen assassins that she is grouped with. Filled with dark plot twists, love triangles, and murder, TEEN KILLERS CLUB will keep you hooked.

I recommend it for YA readers, ages 14+

The audiobook was well done and engaging.

Framed for the murder of her best friend and given a choice, prison or join a secret group of assassins. There is a classification system. Everyone who commits a crime is tested and based on this almost personality test it helps determine your likelihood of repeat crimes or violence. This gives the book a very dystopian feeling.

Our main character didn't hurt her friend, but everyone believes she did. I really liked the comment about how she tried so hard to be feared while in high school and now, she is. There are so many great one liners. It also has a creepy factor. One of the characters wears a dog mask and it is so creepy, who would have thought that was possible.

Sorry, I thought I would not be able to listen and review this title, but t still appears on my bookshelf on my NG app, It may be due to me sampling the start of the narrator. I will update my review once I finish listening to it (over my holiday break).

thank you

Teen Killers Club follows Signal, a girl who has been charged with her best friend's murder being offered a chance to ditch prison to become an assassin for an undercover organization. The catch? Signal is innocent and now surrounded by Class A killer teenagers. The worst of the worst, those without remorse or comprehension of what they've done wrong. Can Signal survive long enough to escape and find a way to prove her innocence?

I really enjoyed this book! Signal is a well written main character who fits in with this crew of killers in the best way, while also not being one of them. It's a hard balance to explain without spoiling the book, so you'll have to read it yourself to understand, but I'd bet you'd feel the same way. The other Class A's are exceptionally written. There is something to love and fear about each of them and their stories are peppered throughout the novel. The only reason it gets four and not give stars from me is this: it leaves us with a massive cliff hanger and there is no confirmation for a second book yet! I'm waiting on baited breath to find an announcement about a second one.

Overall this is a great beginning for what will hopefully be a great new trilogy or series. I recommend it for anyone 13+ as there is some violence in it, but nothing too graphic. Here's hoping there will be a book 2 to review!
