Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for kindly providing me with a digital copy of this book for review.
Another Little People book that's put a big smile on my face! Can’t believe how many of these books there are now- Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara certainly puts in a lot of hard work to research and write these books, her output is admirable.
What I like about these books is that there is a diverse selection of notable people chosen as the subjects, and Prince (or the artist formerly known as Prince) is definitely a good example of this. I love that this book shows a young boy that took dance lessons, wore high heels as an adult, and refused to be labelled. I think many young children will find Prince’s story inspirational.
The artwork is up to the usual high standard for the Little People books, and I was pleased to see the cover is predominantly purple, because what other colour could you possibly use for Prince. An absolute pleasure to read as always.

This story is about Prince ,who was born to a pianist and a jazz singer but this doesn't affect his passion for music .

This story is inspirational for everyone ,showing that be fearless and limitless.

You are the one who will make your dreams come true

This is such an adorable book, I can imagine reading it again and again without tiring. The illustrations are precious and the narrative sticks to facts about Prince. Real talent and generosity were key to Prince's legacy. I'm thrilled that it can now reach a younger audience to inspire. Great job putting this together.

A fantastic overview of Prince's life which doesn't shy away from his queerness! A beautiful and unique man honoured in the right way.

I love the books in this series and always find something new in them, the focus of this book is the musician Prince!

In this book you get to read a little about his early life in the book and the influences that made him such a fantastic all round performer - this is the perfect little book to introduce Prince to younger children.

Lovely images and another great addition to the series - 5 stars from me for this one

This series is always a joy to read, it’s a really nice introduction to well known people for little children. Of course the plot is always a little bit fast but that’s to be expected and it’s totally understandable.
This little book here is all about Prince, a great singer that we all know. I loved reading about his childhood and then his stardom. He wasn't afraid to be himself and to do what he wanted and these are things we can also be inspired by.

A book that is perhaps the most purple one you'll have seen – and rightly so. This short little tribute is in the series designed to inspire the idea in the young that anyone can become anyone, and that everything is possible with hard work, inspiration and a prevailing wind. So here is Prince Rogers Nelson, becoming a virtuoso musician at a young age (presenting his first album when he was still just a teenager, having played every note on it, with the help of 27 instruments), and becoming a film star and global icon as well. So no, we don't get his ignominious end, the dreary welter of songs he churned out for years before that which entertained few beyond a circle of hardcore collectors, or anything else more realistic, but I cannot pretend Prince at his prime was not a person for us all to want to aspire to. The book does rather go down a hole of wokeness, pretending he was a hermaphrodite (that symbol was not just the gender signs, you know, so it had little to do with him being non-binary (which is highly debatable)), but it succeeds in earning its place alongside the majority of this series on school shelves.

I really love this book series, and especially love the diverse choices picked for it! I love the art style used here, and really feel like I learned a lot about Prince and his life story! I think it deals with his androgynous look in a good manner.

This installment of the little people BIG DREAMS series is all about Prince, another person I knew of but nothing about, so it was nice to learn a few facts. Did you know that he inherited his father's stagename, for example?

The colours in this book are very vibrant, and fittingly, a lot of purple has been used. I guess it's the only way to go when talking about his artist.

What can I say? This one is another success that will bring much fun to little readers.

The arc was provided by the publisher.

Another lovely addition to this series.

As always, the illustrations are beautifully done, and the story itself is short and simple. I’m sure lots of children and adults alike will love this.

Some people are just born for stardom and the stage, and it seems that this was most definitely the case with Prince.
As always with this series, I usually know something about the person in the book, but I always find out something new, so what did I learn about Prince:
Prince inherited his name, Prince was his father’s stage name.
He wrote his first song at 7.
We wrote the soundtrack to Batman.
When he changed his name to Symbol – his intention was to unite the masculine and feminine side in all of us.
Today we are more conscious of gender stereotypes, it’s nice to look back on someone like Prince who has been breaking down these stereotypes since the late 1970s and never stopped.
He was a unique character, who had the courage to be himself, make his own rules and that is a character to admire.

Review to come December 27th to blog/Goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I loved Prince's songs and while I did know several things about him, I was still very eager to try out this book. I have read several other books in the series (Dolly Parton, Maria Montessori, Vivienne Westwood, Coco Chanel (read this one in Dutch)) and they are all just so much fun to read.

This one tells us all about Prince, about his family, about what his first song was, and how he went on to become one of the biggest stars. I had tons of fun reading this book as I learned several new fun facts about him. I always love the writing style of the books, they are really engaging and make learning about someone fun!

Like all other books in this series (Little People Big Dreams) at the end of the book we get a timeline and some photographs of the person the book was about. Here we get some additional information about the person, in this case Prince. While a lot of it is condensed into the story, here we get the not-so-condensed-but-still-shortened information.

The art, on the one hand I like it. It is so vibrant and fun, on the other hand the people just looked a bit silly to me. Though I have to say the style did grow on me as I read on.

I would recommend this one to all who want to learn more about Prince or who are fan of him.

An especially colourful installment of this remarkable children's book series, explicitly addressing nonbinary identities, in memory of Prince?! It's here!

Prince by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is the latest addition to the popular Little People, BIG DREAMS series. This time around, the spotlight is on Prince, the fascinating and iconic musician. Accompanied by colourful and quirky illustrations, we learn the story of Prince's individual path to superstardom. Readers of all ages will be drawn to this informative tribute to one of the world's most recognizable and eclectic entertainers.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the opportunity to read this ARC.

A beautiful book about Prince's life and musical and artistic contributions. His life is presented simply with lovely illustrations. The text really illustrates his vibrancy in his music, art, and personality. Prince was supremely talented, iconic, and charismatic. A wonderful addition to this series!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

Adored reading about one of my favorite artists and learned a few things about Prince I didn’t know. Fun, colorful illustrations capture Prince’s style and persona. An excellent book for Prince fans to share with little ones - it will introduce Prince and the artist’s beautiful work while encouraging wee babes to embrace their uniqueness and chase their dreams!

Would’ve loved a bit more about how Prince was not just an uber talented person but was also committed to important social justice issues. Prince followed a plant-based diet out of respect for non-humans. Prince would turn down presents made from the skin and fur - leather, wool, etc.- of other animals because of the suffering involved. The artist wished for animal killing places to be closed, saying, “We need an Animal Rights Day when all slaughterhouses are shut down.”

“Compassion is an action word with no boundaries.” ~Prince

Rest in Power, Prince 💜

I loved this book about Prince but will not adopt it for my classroom use or suggest it for my students to read. My students are so young, they don't even know who this musical legend was and what made him so great. I listened to Prince as a Gen X'er in the 80's. This is one of those books that I would buy and keep for myself for pure nostalgia value. Little kids... get off my book!

This was a very age appropriate picture book about Prince that carefully covered the details of his life. As an adult, I understood the illustrations, but I don't think kids would necessarily understand them. With that said, the illustrations were beautiful. The end of the book has a more extensive biography of Prince. I think it handled the story of his life well, and parents could give more information if they wanted to.

Here's the story of a famous Prince, a singer. One precious thing I learn from him: you are always a special person. You are not defined by your academical value, but your talent, your passion, and your love of something. Can be enjoyed by all age, please spend some time to read the book.

Prince is the newest lead in this latest edition of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This series is such a delight and the perfect way to educate not just kids but everyone about historic and cultural icons.

Prince was a an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, actor, and filmmaker. This book follows Prince embracing feminine attributes with his music to starring in the film Purple Rain and chasing his name to a symbol

Cachetejack illustrates this installment and does a fantastic job. Cachetejack's' art style was so captivating and her art definitely further helped tell Prince's story. I love collecting these books and am so thrilled to add this one to the rest of my collection.

Sanchez Vegara continues to bring well known people to life for elementary level readers. This book about Prince is no exception. She takes readers from his childhood through all of his musical explorations. The illustrations show his larger than life personality and his gifted musicianship. Informative text included at the end fleshes out the book for further study. This is a terrific introductory biography series for younger readers.

Fun and very colorful picture book about the life of Prince!

Prince grew up as the son of two jazz musicians in Minneapolis, so he was exposed to music at an early age and developed a deep passion for it. He learned to play multiple instruments and loved the combination of music and dance. He went on to be a very successful and entertaining recording artist.

This book is a great introduction to the musician Prince for the littles. It is full of positive messages about following your dreams and supporting others in your life via your success. Highly recommend for music fans, young and old!

I love this series of books. I appreciate the diversity of dreams and accomplishments and believe this series is a great addition to any young readers libraries as it teaches that there are many forms of success enforcing the principle that no matter what you choose to do in life you can actually dand remember to dream big!!!

This maybe my new favourite book in the series! I absolutely adored all the illustrations, especially Prince with the cats and I also learnt that he had been part of the batman sound track (as if he wasn't cool enough already!) I will definitely be adding this one to my collection when it comes out!!

This book was just terrific! I love the Little People, Big Dreams Series. This book about the fantastic artist, Prince was incredible. It gives us a glimpse into the life of someone unique. Prince loved to be himself, and mixed dance, music, composing, and songs into his Albums. He is an excellent example for children, but really all of us, to hear of his different ideas and how he used them to be a force of creativity. He wrote his first song at 7, his first album at 19 playing 27 instruments. His album titled Prince lead him to be a superstar. He reached for his dreams, saw the world as a big rainbow, and wanted to celebrate that. The pictures in this book are tremendous. Those bring the book to life. The colors and pictures are vibrant, so it is so easy to understand the beauty that Prince conveyed. I loved reading and looking at this book, but the more diverse stories children can read or hear, the larger their world. This book is perfect for that.

Very colorful. I liked the illustration style in this one. And as always this whole book series is an epic win for young children.

I adore this whole series, which features modern(ish) pop stars, authors, and artists in a kid-friendly bio format. For some reason, the publishing industry and education world only focus on long dead artists and authors ("the cannon"). It's so refreshing to be able to give your library biography section an update with these kids' books.

This particular title about Prince is a perfect example. Ahead of his time and dancing to a beat of his own design, this book is an amazing piece to share with kids. Very kid-appropriate even though Prince himself bordered on the risque at times. If you're worried about those risque times, don't. No one hesitates to show kids bios on artists like Picasso or historical figures like Jefferson. This is no different.

Prince is another fantastic book in the Little People Big Dreams series by critically acclaimed author Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara.
I discovered a few things I didn't know about Prince reading this and found the colourful pictures warm and interesting with an abundance of colour just like Prince was in life.
This book encourages children to follow their hopes and dreams and is a wonderful tribute to the late Prince.

Here is another in the wonderful series that tells the stories of those who were once “little people” with “big dreams.” This vibrantly illustrated entry is on Prince. Young readers will find out how Prince got his name and why he changed it, how old he was when he wrote his first song and when he was when he recorded his first album, the ways in which he was unconventional and more. This book celebrates the artist and his music. It is another winner for kids who dream.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

I don't read a lot of children's books, but the "Little People, Big Dreams" collections always catch my eye! This book was a really quick and easy biography of the artist. It would be a great gift for children of Prince fans. The writing was informative yet easy for young readers to understand. The illustrations were unique and simply gorgeous. I'd definitely recommend if you have a young reader!

Another great addition to the "Little People, Big Dreams" catalogue. I feel like it encompassed the pizzazz that Prince brought to the world, yet with a brilliant adaptation for young minds.

So cute and so informing. I loved this one. The illustrations were terrific and I loved the color palette. This was such a beautiful non-fiction book, and I adored it. I so highly love that anyone can read this, and be informed on these historical figures. I also loved the writing style, it was fun but informative. This was a great read.

If you're looking for a fun way to introduce your favourite musician to your young ones, grab Prince by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara! I absolutely love this series and have to keep sharing it, seriously!

I love this non-fiction, picture book series that introduces famous people to young readers. This book combines fantastic illustrations with a positive, family friendly story about Prince! It's a fun, quick read that will let you learn a few new things while enjoying non-fiction with your kiddos.

He was a young boy born to a musician, and he picked up his Father's stage name (I did not know that!). Eventually he becomes one of the world's most famous musicians with the coolest purple outfits around.

My only critique is that the illustrations in this book are less than a lot of the other books. The style was kinda goofy and too child-like for me. They're still okay, but some of the other books had better.

Four out of five stars.

This is another adorable entry in the Little People, Big Dreams series. I appreciated the colorful illustrations and was very excited to be able to share the story of Prince with my two young children, but I wish it went into a little more detail. I didn’t feel like it had as much impact as it could have for such an important artist.

This is a neat biography for the child who has parents that are Prince fans. It is also a good introduction to Prince and who he was as an artist/musician. I really liked the illustrations of the book. A great read especially good for young readers.

So colourful and fun, a great introduction to Prince for younger readers. My two girls (aged 6 and 4) were captivated by the artwork and were very intrigued by Prince’s story. It’s great to see such a variety of profiles in the Little People, Big Dreams series. We always enjoy these books in our house and thank you to NetGalley and Quarto for the advance copy.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This one here is about Prince and I enjoyed a lot reading it. He's such an inspirational figure! I'm so glad children have the chance to read about him.

My little one loved this book! It told just enough information to get him wanting to know more about Prince and his music. We will be checking out more in this series.

Sometimes I wonder if I was born in the wrong decade. I love music but I seem to have missed out on growing up with so many fantastic musicians and performers, and Prince is certainly one of those. Despite being too young to really remember the work and performances of Prince I still love his music, hits like ‘Purple Rain’ and ‘Kiss’ just stand the test of time.

With a talented musician as a father it only seemed natural that Prince would inherit some form of musical gift. Prince loved music, loved to dance and loved to play his dad's piano despite not being allowed to. Whilst not loving school, he thrived at dance lessons where he could express himself and show off his own creativity. Prince could do it all - he could sing, he could dance, he could play instruments, he was the complete musical package and this made him a superstar.

He broke the rules and challenged musical stereotypes - he wore outrageous outfits including wearing high heels and did amazing things with his voice. He was one of the most colourful performers in pop and his music spanned musical genres where he would combine and mix sounds and styles to create incredible and original songs.

Delightfully illustrated with bright and bold artwork and with a story told in short and simple sentences, this is a very colourful read about the man who made a memorable mark on the musical industry. At the back of the the book there is a short overview of his life which includes key facts and dates and a historical timeline featuring photographs.

Prince was unique. A unique talent, a unique performer, a unique individual. This book is a celebration of that uniqueness and a reminder to us all to just be ourselves and to be the one who breaks the mould.

Recommended for 5+.

Prince is the latest in the Little People, Big Dreams series and is due to be released in early 2021. I had heard of Prince but knew nothing about his music or upbringing so learnt something new by reading this book. This picture book contains vibrant illustrations and is another great story to add to this series. Thanks to NetGalley for digital copy.
