A great read following Philip Devalle, part English and part French, during the late seventeenth century,. I really enjoyed the characters portrayed within the book and felt them to be lifelike, dealing with aspects such as war.
The story is well written and researched - the history is fantastic. I will certainly be looking out for more books by Judith Thomson.
