I absolutely loved this book and thought it was phenomenal that a biography was written about a lesbian athlete. I think it was very tastefully written and is powerful for young readers, especially those that follow sports. Very well done!

I really enjoy this book series, and I feel like the people chosen to be featured are very diverse both in terms of category, country, or time! I enjoyed this a lot, especially since it talks about how there are many ways to be a girl! I also really enjoyed the art style, and felt overall that I learned a lot about Megan!

Megan Rapinoe is the newest lead in this latest edition of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This series is such a delight and the perfect way to educate not just kids but everyone about historic and cultural icons.

Megan Rapinoe is an American professional soccer player who plays as a winger and captains OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League and the United States national team. This book follows Megan as she comes out to her performing in the Olympic Games and receiving Golden Boot and Bolden Ball Awards in the World Cup.

Paulina Morgan illustrates this installment and does a fantastic job. Morgan's' art style was so captivating and hisherart definitely further helped tell Rapinoe's' story. This book taught me about an influential person who I had previously never heard of. I love collecting these books and am so thrilled to add this one to the rest of my collection.

Beautifully illustrated and what a short concise and encouraging story of living your truth everyday, even when you lose friends and those you love the most. This is so necessary for everyone to read in life. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is such a good series of short picture books about famous people, and I love how often we have contemporary and living people. This one, on Megan, the huge soccer star is wonderful. Nicely done, and shows her life and trials and such.

This is a good introduction for kids that might be interested in knowing more, or even in knowing about sports figures. Good introduction all around.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

While I think it's still a majority of this series of books for young people that concern dead subjects, the number of volumes about positive role models who also happen to have the advantage of being alive is growing. And few could count for more than Megan Rapinoe – or so it appears on this evidence, for women's football really doesn't float my boat. That aside, the fact she was a world's best, one of the few notable homosexual sports players, and someone who sticks up for being true to yourself, all go to qualify her as inspirational. It's a shame then that this isn't a very attractive volume – she looks a punky sort of creature, until 'Boom' she outs herself and there she is in full-on purple La Roux hair, despite all the evidence to the contrary from the photographs on the teachers' notes pages at the back. I think you can correctly infer I had no idea who this woman is, beyond being able to match sport to name, but I was glad to have this quick introduction. These books are all about the positive messages, and the majority succeed. While this tried its best to fail when it comes to the visuals, it's another win for the series.

'Megan Rapinoe' is an inspiring addition to the Little People Big Dreams series! I loved learning about Rapinoe's rise to becoming the best female soccer player through her devotion to sport and natural skill. I especially loved learning about her supportive family, her being true to herself, and fighting for causes she is passionate about.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

This series is always a joy to read, its a really nice introduction to well known people for little children. Of course the plot is always a little bit fast but thats to be expected and its totally understandable.
This one here is about Megan Rapinoe, a very talented and famous American soccer player. I know how good the US National Women's Soccer team is and if it is that good, it's also thanks to her. She's such an inspiration for people all around the world and I'm so looking forward to seeing her future soccer career and just her future in general.

The art style in this wasn't my favorite, but it was a cute book and it had a great message and good representation. I would definitely buy this as a gift for friends with young kids.

I've been a big fan of Megan Rapinoe for many years, and this "Little People, Big Dreams" biography does a great job of rendering her story (so far!) for young readers. The illustrations are a little flat but cute and joyful, and go great with the exuberant text. A cute and fun way to celebrate this icon with young readers!

Part of the Little People, Big Dreams series.
Sanchez Vegara captures Rapinoe's passionate spirit and commitment to equality and justice in language elementary readers will understand. Through the text and illustrations, young readers see Rapinoe's journey from childhood through the triumphs and challenges of being unique and considered different by others. This book will encourage readers to be true to themselves along with learning about this incredible woman's life.

Yes! Another picture book in the Little People Big Dreams series! This one focuses on all star soccer player Megan Rapinoe who helped lead the US Women's Soccer team to victory. Like the other books in the series, this one is filled with fun, colorful illustrations that highlight various moments. We see Megan as a child playing with her sister and then developing her talent and passion for soccer. The book is also LGBTQ positive in that it discusses Megan's pride in being part of the LGBTQ community. This book is perfect for girls who feel like they don't quite fit in and want to follow their own path.

Megan Rapinoe is one of the latest editions to the Little People Big Dreams series by the amazing Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara.
In this book children learn that it is okay to be who you are and to embrace being an individual. It points out that not everyone likes the same things and this is not a bad thing. Megan Rapinoe is a positive role model for children, especially girls, and I like the fact that the series is focusing on role models who are still alive as well as ones who are deceased.
The illustrations are bright and will draw the reader/audience into the story.

This was another great book!

I love the Little People, BIG DREAMS book series, and while I didn't learn as much about Megan (as her story is much more recent than most of the subjects of this series), I love the fact that her story is being told.

A vibrant and beautiful story to match the subject of it. This tells the story of one of the most successful footballers, irrespective of gender. This is perfect to show that all children can go on to be professional footballer.

I am not very sporty, I don’t play sport, and I watch very little, so I did not know who Megan Rapinoe was. That, to me, is the beauty of the Little People Big Dreams series, you don’t have to know who that person is when you pick up the book, because after reading it you will.

Megan's story is not just a story about sport and soccer, although Megan is a soccer player and she was on the US team that won the Olympic final in 2012. It is also an important story about being yourself and working hard to make your dreams come true.

The Little People, Big Dreams biography of Megan Rapinoe, written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and illustrated by Paulina Morgan, tells the story of Rapinoe so far, from her childhood growing up in Redding, California, to her lifting of the World Cup trophy.

The book is short and cute, if a little generic. It is a lovely introduction to someone I have long admired, and thankfully does not shy away from Rapinoe's sexuality, handling this topic identically to her soccer playing and activism, and every other element of her life.

A great addition to any soccer kid's bookshelf.

Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the ARC!

I'll be completely honest and say as someone based in the UK I knew very little about Megan Rapinoe before reading this book with my daughter. As with many of the books in this series, it's a colourful and beautifully illustrated book charting Megan's life so far both on and off the field. It gently discusses sexuality and gender equality which promoted a chat about these subjects with my young daughter. The great thing about these books is that they can serve as an introduction to the subject for a younger audience and be truly inspiring to slightly older children on the cusp of teenage years.

Simple and brightly colored illustrations and a condensed bio from childhood to the reason for inclusion in this landmark series is what makes each story so valuable to young, old, reading impaired, and ESL alike. Megan grew up in the US, but became a world class (including Olympic) soccer player!
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Quarto Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. THANK YOU.

Another great addition to this fabulous series of mini-biographies that show children that there are many ways in which people make a difference. It is great to see a biography of a female athlete and an activist for equal rights, somebody who achieved a lot of success through her passion and hard work.

Another fine example of what makes this series, Little People, Big Dreams so relatable for young people. Some of the mini biographies are of individuals who bestride consciousness from the twentieth century and others are a revelation and a delight to become familiar with.
Megan Rapinoe is a American soccer star, her career coinciding with the rise of women’s football where the USA has led the way in professionalising the game.
Yet her contribution isn’t a tag on but more a principle role. Her attitude, advocacy for change and above all her talent on the pitch has cemented her celebrated status as an acknowledged role-model.
Born into a sporty family she excelled in organised ball games and learned to be competitive and be her best. Ideally living in California she was able to access organised soccer leagues and competitive football. Her skill and talent were recognised and the collegiate system enabled her to be win a scholarship in soccer which ultimately led to a professional career.
I have always followed football in the U.K. and within the last couple of years the women’s game has achieved an elevated status with a professional structure and leagues across Europe. I have no doubt that this is partly due to the National side’s success in tournament football. Not withstanding the standards set by the USA side and the pivotal role played by Megan.
Her struggle for equality also impressed me as some professional sportspeople can focus solely on their careers. Megan placed that all in the balance when she came out in 2012 to declare her sexuality.
It might not seem groundbreaking today but within the men’s game, there has be a series of poor treatment in areas of race and sexuality. Gay footballers are historically reluctant to expose their sexual orientation.
Megan is a new name to me, since I haven’t followed women’s sport directly but she is a worthy entrant in this series and a name I am unlikely to forget.
The artwork and colour palette beautifully compliment the text this author manages to always find which tells the story and elevates the subject to someone you and any child would like to meet. The simple writing in short snippets with lots of action illustrations ensures each story is well told and memorable.

This is an interesting read for as i am not from USA. This book tells us the story of a talented young woman who against all odds became a phenomenon.
Good illustrations as always.

I love these books. Every single One makes me learn more and find an easy way to teach my kids about new people who made a difference in the world.

Feisty, talented, outspoken Megan Rapinoe is the latest little person with a big dream in thisseries of short biographies for young children. Kids will hopefully be inspired by this amazing soccer player and activist. I know that I was!

There are interesting facts for kids here. For example, Megan is a twin and she had a brother with whom she loved to play soccer. Readers will also learn that Megan felt different from others growing up and that soccer was a refuge for her. It also provided her with a college scholarship. This book also touches on Megan’s identifying as gay and her belief in rights for all.

The illustrations in this title are sprightly and fun. They add to the accompanying text. All in all, an excellent entry in this long running series.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

Megan Rapinoe is a new biography for young readers in the Little People, Big Dreams series. I've reviewed a number of these titles and all of them are delightful and exuberant little books which cover the lives of famous cultural, science, arts, and innovation icons while maintaining an age-appropriate level of detail. Due out 2nd Feb 2021 from Quarto on their Frances Lincoln imprint, it's 32 pages and will be available in hardcover, and ebook formats.

Written by Isabel Sánchez Vegara it's well written in clear accessible language. The whimsical and energetic illustrations were well done. The art by Paulina Morgan is full of fun - appealing and colorful, they just bounce off the page. The illustrations are bold and full of bright contrasting colors and simple lines and lots and lots of energy.

Well written and appealing, I am really enjoying all of these little books. This one is a worthy addition. The author has included a timeline at the back of the book with some photos and highlights from Ms. Rapinoe's life, as well as a very short bibliography including books to explore further.

Five stars. This would make a superlative reading circle book, classroom library book, or gift. I like that these books cover arts, sports, science, historical, and entertainment icons. There's something for everyone.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

I really liked this little picture book about Megan Rapinoe. I feel like she is the perfect role model for little ones. She is this amazing soccer player but she is also an amazing all-around person. It was interesting to hear more about her story!

Another fab addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS! bio series for young readers by the talented Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, a writer and creative director from Barcelona.

I love this newest on soccer star Megan Rapinoe, with such inspiring text, illustrations and photos. You get a real sense of her early gift for the game, as well as the courage it took to come out gay. As Megan accepted herself more, her game and life flowed more easily too. Offers moving insight into one of soccer’s greatest players.

These books are the best!! This is the second in the series of women who rule the world!! This book goes along Megan Rapinoe's life, from being a young girl loving sports, to all of the awards that she won throughout the years. This would be a good classroom library book for children to just get to know new people in the world.
