This premise pulled me in immediately. I was sold just from the blurb. Sarah thinks she’s got the perfect marriage. She’s a successful defense attorney, who finds herself in the position of defending her philandering husband for murder, oh wait the murder of his girlfriend! She was found brutally murdered in the marital bed at the couple's cabin and he says he didn’t do it.

This is a twisty domestic thriller that wants to keep you guessing until the very end. The story is told alternating between Sarah the wife/lawyer and Adam the husband/suspect. I loved it at the start because this kind of story is my break and butter. It is exactly what I want to read. I felt some of the characters were just weird (hello, Sarah's assistant and this creepy sheriff). The story certainly had a lull in the middle and I started feeling as if I just wanted to know what happened. The story picked up again towards the last 70 pages and I read it in one sitting to finish it.

I really didn't know who killed the poor girl and never, ever saw the end coming. While I felt it had problems in the writing, and characters, plus a few pacing problems, I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to others looking for a new take on an old story. 3.5 stars.

I read this book prior to listening to this and let me tell you I did not think that it could get any better. This was hands down one of my favorite books of the year and I love it even more now with listening to the audio. I think that the characters fit the narrator's voice and it was exactly how I expected it to sound. If you have not read/listened to this yet, you really need to!

Thank you to NetGalley and dreamscape media for allowing me to review this audiobook.

Sarah Morgan is a well-known criminal defense attorney. She has made partner at the firm and has everything that she has ever wanted from life. Adam Morgan, not so much, he is struggling on his road to becoming a famous author. Married to Adam for 10 years she is blowing off yet another anniversary date they planned to spend up at their cabin. Adam, not being happy in the relationship has been having an affair with a married woman, Kelly Summers. When Kelly is found dead in their lake house, it is up to Sarah to prove that her husband did not commit the crime. Is Adam truly the killer, or is someone framing him?
This book makes you wonder, can you really trust anyone?

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose is the kind of book that will make you second guess your ability to judge people. Days after finishing this book, I am still wondering what the heck went down. The ending had me muttering "whaaaa, noooo, reallyyyyy? Oh com'n."

The entire story you are eyeing up suspects as if the whole town was part of one giant conspiracy to commit this murder. And as soon as you think you have it figured out, there's a twist and a punch... and you're back to wondering what is wrong with you.

Some of the characters are quick and witty while some of them are impulsive and thoughtless. You will be rolling your eyes and might even throw the book across the room once or twice out of frustration; how could a suspect be so stupid?

While this whole story is built around a murder trial, the reader doesn't actually get to experience the trial itself. I was a little disappointed by this, especially because there is so much build up to this trial! The whole story is about finding evidence and figuring out who did it! Well, who did it? Read and find out.

PS. Don't let the title fool you; this is one of the most unreliable narrators I have ever experienced... can't trust a damn thing.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape for a copy of this book for review!

W.O.W.

This book takes you on one VERY wild ride and I don't even know where to start for this review, other than I loved it. I devoured it. I even set my alarm 45 minutes early two days in a row to get uninterrupted time to read it.

Jeneva Rose...well done! This story hooked me from the first chapter and when I was totally certain I had it figured out...like 100% positive I was right, she turned the story a different direction and I literally was left with my mouth open on the last page.

That rarely happens with thrillers anymore and I am SO excited to see an author bring back the true element of surprise.

I read the book earlier this year, but when I saw on the author's instagram that it was now offered on audio - I had to request it and I am SO GLAD I did! The narrator's voices were on point - almost exactly what I thought they would be as I was reading the book earlier this year.

THANK YOU Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC - I loved reliving this story!

HOLY TWIST! All along I thought I had known who did it, but little did I know I was wrong. The cliffhanger between chapters really got me too, because the next chapter doesn’t immediately pick up where the last had left off. I really liked this boom and will definitely look out for more books by Jeneva Rose in the future!

The audio for this book is fantastic! I thought it was fantastic that we had both a female voice as well as a male for each part since the book is based on both Adam & Sara. I usually listen at 1.75 or 2 speed & it was stealth easy to follow & understand even after a faster speed. The book itself will keep you on the edge of your seat & is a great suspense novel! Totally recommend it!

What a freaking page turner. Book had me guessing from page to page and I never wanted to put it down. Literally did not see the end coming. At all. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

THE PERFECT MARRIAGE by Jeneva Rose is a story of a broken marriage & a legal thriller. so engaging & gripping- finished in 2 days! I’ll definitely have a ‘book hangover’ from this one. brief synopsis: Sarah is the best criminal defense attorney, while her husband Adam finds himself wrongly accused of murdering his mistress Kelly. legal thriller/mystery ensues, taking place somewhat in DC. often funny, occasionally sexy, & always thrilling! I developed a habit of predicting mysteries but couldn’t predict this one. so many well-developed characters culminate in an unpredictable ending. further, the author is absolutely delightful on bookstagram & also on tiktok. love when a debut is excellent from a fabulous author. thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy of THE PERFECT MARRIAGE, which is published in late December 2020!

Sarah and Adam Morgan have THE perfect marriage - he’s a successful law maker and she’s a flourishing lawyer, they take trips to the countryside to stay in their cabin, and they have their whole life ahead of them. Sadly, their lives come apart as a secret that Adam kept from Sarah comes to the light in a deadly way. Will their marriage survive, and does Sarah even want it to?
💍 𝓜𝔂 𝓣𝓱𝓸𝓾𝓰𝓱𝓽𝓼: This book was a @netgalley Audiobook Arc. I loved this book. There were so many twists and I thought EVERY ONE was guilty! The only thing I would change is the length - I felt a lot of the book could’ve been left out.

This was a good audiobook. The ending came out of leftfield. Just when you think you know the outcome, so many details come to light.

I'm going to be 100% honest here. This book was really good, but I don’t think it lived up to the hype. It didn’t help that I saw this advertised EVERYWHERE saying how amazing it was. I was hesitant to pick it up, but then NetGalley offered the audiobook and I was like yep!

The narrators were great. I would have loved to listen at speed 2.5 but whoever mixed the audio, it would have been too fast for the formatting. No big deal. But the narrators were great and I’m glad I got it on audio.

The story, however, was just okay. The ending didn’t shock me. In fact, I guessed ½ of the ending relatively early on… we’re talking first couple chapters. I only say that because I think I was expecting something crazy and was able to guess that crazy. Kind of the downside when you hear there’s a twist and your mind thinks of all the potential scenarios. Mine just happened to be the only one I stuck with and I was spot on.

I feel bad reviewing this so low. 3 stars usually is a dud to me, but this wasn’t a dud. I do think people will enjoy this a lot more than I did, just don’t go into it expecting the next Gone Girl or other legendary thriller that makes all the headlines.

LAST NOTE! I am excited to see this being made into a movie. Or is it TV show? Either way, I do think it’ll be perfect for the big screen.

Wow. The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose is a stunning thriller that kept me listening late into the night. If you were a successful defense attorney and your husband’d mistress is found murdered - would you defend your husband? That is exactly what Sarah Morgan is doing for her lying, cheating husband, Adam. The narrators are all great and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

WOW!! I did not see the ending of this book coming. A must read for any mystery/thriller reader. I will be thinking about this book for a long time.

Chilling. Addictive.
Sarah and Adam are about to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. Sarah, a successful defense attorney, bails on their plans for quiet time at their lake house, forced to prepare for a high profile trial. Adam goes along- to meet up with his mistress, Kelly. She is also married - to an abusive man who terrifies her. Later that night, Adam leaves the lake house. The next day, he is taken into custody as a suspect in Kelly's vicious murder.
Sarah takes on Adam's case, desperate to prove his innocence.
Countless what just happened moments. I couldn't stop listening. Though I figured out the culprit, I finished this audiobook truly enjoying the chilling twists.
Narration performed by excellent performers. Very enjoyable.

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose is a great story. The plot is fun and twisty. All of the characters seem like they have something to hide. This makes for good red herrings that lead to a surprise ending I did not see coming! The narrators of the audiobook have great voices and made this an enjoyable listen.

***** I received an ARC from NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my honest review. *****

Sarah is a criminal defense attorney; a partner at her firm. Her husband, Adam, is a writer. One who has been struggling to write. Then Adam is arrested for murder- his mistress was found dead in their bed at their vacation home. Sarah is now defending her husband- and she knows in order to save him, she has to find the real murderer.

This is a debut author. Overall, the story was good. Plenty of red herrings to keep your mind busy. The characters were awful- as in unlikeable. Not a likeable one in the bunch. But not so much that it kept me from reading. While I correctly guessed most of the mysteries, there was one that threw me for a loop.

I listened to the audio version of the book. There are two narrators since the book alternates POVs. While I wasn't impressed by either narrator, I also did not want to stab my eardrums. So I was pleased. It is more of a production thing, but the narration for Adam was a bit quieter. I found myself having to adjust the volume at times, when switching POVs. Overall, well paced, clear and easy to understand.

I think most readers will find this book enjoyable- in both print and audio. I am pretty critical when it comes to thrillers/suspense- it takes a lot to impress me, so three stars is a solid book in my opinion.

YES! YES! YES! I finished this book in one listen. I couldn't stop. It has been a hot minute since I enjoyed a thriller this much. It pulls all the stops, tricks, and twists. Fast-paced, great characters, and an altogether enjoyable read.

I couldn’t stop reading this! It was a fast read with some really strange and off beat twists. I scratched my head a lot because some of it is just unbelievable and borderline too much. The ending was great and worth the read!

I listened to “The Perfect Marriage” as an audiobook, and a big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah Morgan is a brilliant attorney with a seemingly perfect marriage, and husband Adam is a sometimes struggling writer. Although everything seems perfect, their lives are blown open when Adam’s mistress is murdered and Sarah becomes his defense attorney,

The characters in the story are well written, and Jeneva Rose kept me guessing until the end. There were moments that were quite implausible, and a lot of of bad (and unnecessary) language and fairly explicit scenes. I don’t mind the odd F bomb but there were many!

I liked the narration, the fact that a male narrator read the part of Adam, and a female the part of Sarah. The story kept me listening and guessing until the very end. I am going to give this book 3 stars rather than 4/5 for the reasons listed above. Despite those reservations, this is a fun listen/read.

“Don’t call me Cubby Bear, Mom. I’m in JAIL.”

This is a wildly unrealistic, yet very entertaining domestic thriller/mystery. I have to mention that it’s unrealistic because, as a lawyer myself, I really couldn’t get past the premise of a wife defending her husband for murdering the woman he was cheating on her with. Girrrrrl, no. No one even mentions a conflict of interest until halfway through the book. So, if it’s a traditional legal thriller you’re looking for, this is not the book for you. However, once I decided to go with the premise, I found myself very entertained. There are some juicy suspects, good red herrings, and interesting and fun characters, not least of which is our heroine, Sarah — the county’s most famous female criminal defense attorney who has inexplicably decided to defend her sleazebag philandering husband.

The excellent audiobook performances, narrating for both husband and wife, really enhanced my enjoyment of this book. While not super intellectual or heavy on the accurate legal thriller details, this is a fun and devious portrait of a marriage gone wrong. I was entertained. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Dreamscape Audio for the advance listening copy!

The Perfect Marriage is a crazy domestic thriller that has the reader questioning everything.

Sarah Morgan is one of the best lawyers in Washington D.C. Sarah’s husband, Adam, is arrested for the murder of his mistress. Sarah is the only lawyer that has any chance of saving Adam. Is Sarah actually the best lawyer for this case? How will Sarah’s personal feelings affect the case? Is Adam guilty?

The Perfect Marriage grabbed my attention from the beginning. This story is so crazy. I was constantly trying to figure out if Adam was guilty or not. Adam is adamant that he had nothing to do with killing the mistress he loved. There are so many twists and turns throughout this book. I liked how Sarah’s personal conflict was brought up throughout the book along with the suspense. The Perfect Marriage is an excellent domestic thriller with so much drama and surprises.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt and loved the narration. They talked with so much emotion and were the perfect voices for Sarah and Adam.

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audiobook of The Perfect Marriage.

This may look like a slam dunk case, but there’s more than meets the eye... much more. Sarah is a high powered defense attorney. Her husband, Adam is a struggling writer. Adam is having an affair and when his mistress turns up dead at their lake house, Adam is quickly arrested for her murder. Sarah is the only one that can save him, so she works diligently to do just that, but will it be enough? The dual voices in the audio worked well and it was a nice change to have Sarah and Adam tell their own stories. Filled with red herrings, twists and a host of unlikable characters, this book was a page turner, but it was also filled with an over abundance of offensive language and the ending left me cold.

I am very torn about this book.

The whole plot of a wife defending her husband during his murder trial is insane. I assume someone at least googled it and that it’s theoretically allowable, but I can’t imagine it really happens. Every interaction the main character has with her husband is unrealistic. Obviously I understand having read the end that she’s a sociopath, and that would have been a good explanation except that there is never any indication that this is the case because she doesn’t have any sociopathic interactions with anyone else, only where it involves the husband. I guess she’s a little weird and cold towards the other people but there’s never anything that would make you question her sanity. Even knowing the ending I can’t think of any indications. Just a small hint here and there would have helped the believability.

And then, what, turns out she did all this— killed the husband’s mistress, threw his trial, compromised evidence— all so that eleven years later she could marry her boss? Seems a little stupid.

That being said, even with how inane the plot was I really, truly enjoyed this book. The writing style was very compelling, it kept me guessing. I would definitely read more from this author I would just hope for a more realistic storyline next time.

Book 285 for the year! 4/5 stars for this adult mystery read. Great for fans of Gone Girl. Not my favorite cover, but it does fit the story. Love the dual narration! Lots of twists to keep you guessing! Definitely recommend!

Yes! This was a heart throbbing, pacey and juicy psychological suspense novel I needed!!!

Sarah's husband is accused of killing his mistress. And she's his lawyer. Even though Adam cheated on her on their 10th anniversary at the lakehouse where they were supposed to go together (can you believe that?!). But perhaps Sarah wouldn't have won the wife-of-the-year award when she blew off his request to spend time together at the lakehouse because, as usual, she's too concerned with advancing her career. Though at least she has one and isn't wasting her life away as a struggling writer like Adam.

This book was a compulsive listen. I'm so glad I picked up the audiobook version because the narration is expertly done, keeping me wanting to listen to just one more chapter. Not only is it packed with twists, but the final reveal absolutely blew me away.

As a passionate thriller lover, I enjoyed every bit of The Perfect Marriage and all its suspense, cheating, lies, betrayals, murder and relationship drama.

3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC copy of this book to read. I enjoyed this book as I was reading it, but I figured out the twist pretty early and wasn't overly excited to pick it up when I set it down. This story is about a couple named Sarah and Adam. Sarah is a very successful lawyer and Adam is a struggling writer. They have a lake house and one day, Adam's mistress is found dead at the lake house. He is accused of killing her and the rest of the book is figuring out whodunit. Sarah is his lawyer and the book alternates perspectives between Sarah and Adam in short, potato chip chapters. I really enjoyed that part of the writing style and would've liked it more if it had a little more to it. I thought it was really easy to understand and follow and this would be a good intro to thrillers if you haven't read much of them.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
The mistress was accused of killing her first husband. She's married again but her husband is barely a suspect. There are a couple other suspicious people, including Sarah's assistant who threatened Adam after finding out about the affair, but it was pretty obvious to me from about the halfway point that Sarah was the one who killed her. The husband gets sentenced to the death sentence and dies for a crime he did not commit.

4.5 Stars
WOW WOW WOW!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to the wonderful book.
I finished it yesterday and have not been able to stop thinking about the ending!! If I had placed a bet on what the ending could be when I started this book, I would have been dead wrong. My jaw truly dropped.

What hooked me right away about this book was how steamy Adam’s first few chapters were. And at times, it felt like there was something to root for in Sara and Sheriff Steven’s chemistry. (At least in my opinion)
What would have made this book 5 stars for me, was if the ending would have been less rushed. I wanted more from Adam. I wanted a little more from his mother. I wanted more of an explanation on Sheriff Stevens.
I thoroughly enjoyed the narration of this book. They each really sold the characters to me.
Can’t wait to read what Jeneva Rose writes next!!

I really liked the premise of this story. It was a great mystery and twisty. I liked the two voices - it was easy to keep up with which POV was active. I didn't like a couple of the characters which made it difficult for me to LOVE the book.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media first off for this free audiobook of The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose. The story is set up with a man named Alex who is accused of killing his girlfriend and being defended by no other than his lawyer wife. The Perfect Marriage is set up where the story is told from Alex and Sarah Morgan's point of view as they prepare for trial while also finding clues to prove Alex's innocence. What transpires will have you on the edge of your seat! I truly thought I cracked the case around midway through the story, but should have noted the title of this book to know that quite a few suspects could not be taken off the table. The author does a tremendous job of setting up for a fantastic finale that could make any reader bump up their rating of this book, I know it did for me!

Wellll, meh. I didn't really buy that this woman was representing her husband where he is the prime suspect of killing his mistress. So I was never really into the book. The narrations were good. But not myy favorite domestic mystery/thriller.

“I’ve always believed the eyes cannot lie. They hold the truths we are unable or unwilling to speak.”

I give you a husband and a wife. Husband is failing in his career. Wife is a ridiculously successful defense attorney. Husband cheats on wife. Mistress is found dead in husband and wife’s bed. Husband is charged. Wife defends him.

😲 What in the actual f**k did I just listen to?! This book was like a train wreck you just can’t look away from. It’s an f-bomb laden, fast paced whodunit with a few twists thrown in for good measure. I won’t say much because the less you know about the plot going in the better it will be for you. If you enjoyed The Silent Patient, this will be right up your alley.

This audiobook has two narrators, one each for the husband and wife. Although I usually love a narrator that can do unique voices for each character, having a male and a female narrator in this one really gave it life. Multi narrator audiobooks are quickly becoming my favorite!

I want to thank @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for this audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review. Publication date December 29, 2020.

I loved this book at the beginning and was always anxious to get back to it. It was certainly engaging, but there were several aspects that made me find it ultimately disappointing. One thing that bothered me throughout was the character of the mother-in-law--she was an incredibly cliched stereotype with completely unrealistic dialog and no redeeming qualities. A little nuance would have been nice! Other than that one character, I thought most of the book was well written, but I found the ending very disappointing. I was not really surprised by it; it was actually what I suspected right from the beginning, but I thought that the author would steer clear of it as being both too obvious, too overdone, and too implausible--almost cheating, given how the book was written. (I know what literary device she was using; don't want to mention it so as not to give too much away, but I've seen it done better.) I also thought all the quick pouring out of the details at the end could have been better handled. One other minor quibble: why the title? It's a title that has been used often and I know that it usually means it will be revealed that the marriage wasn't perfect at all, but right from the outset it was clear that no one would have considered this a perfect marriage, so I thought the title lacked imagination. Despite all these criticisms I'm giving this book 3 1/2 stars, rounded up to 4, since I did very much enjoy listening to it. The narrator for the Sarah parts was very good and the narrator for the Adam parts was absolutely outstanding, and I felt that the audiobook added to my enjoyment of the experience. Many thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an e-copy of this audiobook.

Thank you Netgalley for this audiobook of The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose.

First off, the narration was great! One of the signs of good narration, IMO, is when you can really sink into the story without really thinking about the narration. If I'm focused on the reader, it's probably not for the best reasons.

Sarah is a high powered attorney with a stellar reputation, which is lucky because her husband Adam is being charged with the murder of his mistress. But separating emotions from skill could be tricky, and Sarah is going to have to work very hard to overlook her husbands transgressions in order to free him.

This was pretty good. My biggest complaint is that it really was a bit over the top and campy. They brought soap opera quality drama and violence that is borderline comic. As far as the story went, none of it blew my mind, it was thoroughly predictable, however, it was also the perfect type of fluff to distract me from holiday stress.

Thank you so much for this ARC!

Wow, I was not prepared for that ending! Total shocker.

At first I almost stopped listening, something about the narrators that was a little tough for me at first, but SO glad I did not stop listening. I even spent 35 minutes on Christmas Day listening to the final chapters in my car while I had no electricity. That is how dedicated I was! Adam really sounded like Gerard Butler at times. :)

Absolutely loved this story and the audio version. A great cast of characters, questionable motives, and an ending I didnt see coming. An entertaining domestic thriller, however I just couldn’t buy into the fact that a wife would represent her cheating husband. However it all makes sense at the end! Great book.

Sarah is a high powered attorney. Adam is a struggling writer. They have been married for many years. Then one day Adam's girlfriend is found murdered in their lake house retreat. Sarah then becomes Adam's defense attorney.
I loved the premise of this book. AND I didn't see the end coming for quite some time, which is rare. I listened to the audio version and the narration was great. My only caution is if you don't like profanity then this book might not be for you as there is quite a lot of it.
Good solid mystery with lots of turns.

A woman decides to be her husband’s lawyer when his mistress is found dead.
The concept was interesting but wow was this too wordy. I have heard a lot of great feedback about this book but it did not live up to the hype for me.
Did not love the audio either.

This was a face-paced, delicious audiobook about a husband who has been accused of murdering his mistress and the wife that defends him (literally, she’s his lawyer). Told from both perspectives (I loved having two narrators), I couldn’t stop listening and thought I knew who the killer was but I was wrong!

Adam Morgan has been juggling two romantic relationships. His wife of 10 years, a high profile defense attorney and his mistress, a barista he met by happenstance. Sarah, Adam’s wife, suggests growing their family, something that Adam has wanted for a long time. This encourages Adam to end the affair with Kelly and recommit to his family and being a father. Then Adam is arrested for the murder of Kelly who was found stabbed to death at their lake house. Did Adam kill his mistress? Did someone else know about their affair? Now Sarah might be the only hope in proving Adam’s innocence, even after his betrayal.

What a fast paced domestic thriller! Right from the get-go the suspense started to build, and I could not stop until I knew who killed Kelly. I am drawn to novels with alternating character perspectives, so I was captivated right away. Being within the minds of the characters adds a layer of empathy for a reader, because you feel as if you know the real them. The subtle nuances that make you question their character are what really make this novel a true psychological thriller.

I had the privilege of receiving an audiobook of The Perfect Marriage, which I believe added to the suspense factor. As a listening experience, this audiobook had great flow. The dual narration for the alternating perspectives added to the overall experience. Both narrators were easily understood and had great inflection through dialogue. Their voices were quite engaging.

I was very impressed with this debut novel by Jeneva Rose, and I look forward to reading more from her. Thank you to NetGalley, Jeneva Rose, and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Captivating from the beginning until the end. There were so many suspects in this murder. The story progress very naturally without many drastic twists and turn, and yet there is something very natural about the plot that power the story along. It held my attention very easily. I've always kind of identified who was the murderer. The ending does not disappoint and it just made the story greater.

The story was narrated by Neil Hellegers; Teri Schnaubelt. They read at a comfortable speed with emotions put into each character. They made each character come alive. Their voices were not a distraction from the story.

Just finished my ARC of The Perfect Marriage! Love how each perspective has a different narrator! Interesting story and easy to follow!

"His mistress is dead. His wife is his only hope." The tagline immediately made me want to read The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose. I'm happy to say that it did not disappoint!

Sarah Morgan is a BOSS (are the kids still saying that nowadays?). She is partner at a prestigious law firm and one of the most successful defense attorneys in the Washington, D.C. area. Her life is dedicated to her job and while she loves her husband, it's obvious from the start that her marriage comes second. Adam, a struggling novelist, does not enjoy living in his wife's shadow and spending so much time alone while Sarah works late into the night. It's only a matter of time before he begins having an affair with a waitress. He comes to love both women for different reasons and can't decide which one he should leave the other for. Adam's choice is made for him when his mistress is found stabbed to death in his bed. Facing a murder charge that includes a death sentence, Adam is facing an uphill battle as all the evidence points directly to him. If he has any chance of proving his innocence, he needs his wife's help, but can he trust that she has his best interests in mind after all he's done to her?

This was a solid thriller that will surely entertain fans of the genre. The novel moves along at a quick pace, alternating narration between Sarah and Adam. There are plenty of red herrings and a shocking twist at the end that readers won't see coming! I was actually really satisfied with the ending despite finding it disturbing. The biggest complaint I had with Rose's story is that Adam was a complete tool. I honestly couldn't stand his character and was hoping Sarah would just leave him to fend for himself after all his douchebag antics. While the twist at the end was great, I felt it was a little implausible, at least without answering a few more questions for me.

The audio narration was just okay on this one. It took me awhile to get used to the female narrator's voice, especially when she changed it to read for various male characters. It would have been funny when she voiced Matthew's character if it hadn't been so cringeworthy.

Overall, this one is definitely worth all of the hype it's being given! Give it a read and you won't regret it.

The Perfect Marriage
4/5 ⭐️

Thank you to @dreamscape_media & @netgalley for allowing me to have a copy of the audiobook in exchange for a review!

This is Jeneva Rose’s debut novel and I never would have guessed! It’s packed with so much suspense and really leaves you asking, “who really did it?” Call me naive but I honestly didn’t guess the ending. My mind was made up on another character!

It had quite a few male characters so I became confused at times but the ending really tied together why everyone was necessary. A couple things felt unanswered to me and that’s why I couldn’t call it perfect but it was pretty close! 🙈

Adam is cheating on his wife, Sarah, with Kelly. Kelly is cheating on her husband, Scott, with Adam.. and maybe a second affair? Now Kelly is found dead in Adam’s bed but who did it? And why?

Absolutely amazing!! I thought I had it somewhat figured out, but Rose completely threw me for a loop with such a major twist!!
Completely five stars for me. I couldn’t wait to finish this to find out what happened. It kept my attention throughout and I loved reading it!

**”The question isn’t whether or not he loved her. The question is, did he kill her?”**

Sarah Morgan is a high-powered criminal defense attorney who seems to have it all - a skyrocketing career, a beautiful home in D.C., a cozy lake house in Virginia, perfect hair.... Her husband, Adam, doesn’t feel quite so fortunate. His writing career is floundering, his wife doesn’t want kids, and her workaholism leaves him feeling lonely and neglected.

**”She is the best, like I always knew she would be. I just never thought I’d resent her so much for it.”**

Sarah doesn’t know it, but Adam has spent more than a year having an affair with Kelly, a woman who is nothing like type-A, straight-laced Sarah, and whose own marriage might be even more unhappy than Adam’s. Adam is so in love with Kelly that he’s almost ready to leave Sarah for her... until Kelly is found dead in Adam’s bed. Suddenly, their forbidden love story is over, and Adam is the prime suspect in her gruesome murder.

**”In my experience, everything can change in a moment.”**

Adam insists that he is innocent, and with his wife’s extensive legal expertise, Sarah is the only one who can help him prove it. But will she want to help him once she knows the truth? Is it possible that he’s being honest about his innocence, even though he lied about everything else? And if Adam really didn’t kill Kelly, who did?

**”If he could lie to me for this long, maybe he could kill.**”

With *The Perfect Marriage*, Jeneva Rose has delivered a 5-star legal thriller that will keep you guessing until the very last chapter! It’s probably an unrealistic story, but so fast-paced and suspenseful that I didn’t mind. Filled with twists and turns I didn’t see coming, and enough suspects to keep you guessing (but not too many to be confusing), this was one of my favorite thrillers of 2020. An absolutely addictive read - I listened to the dual-narrator audiobook, and didn’t turn it off for 8 hours straight. It will make a fantastic movie or miniseries!

The Perfect Marriage is a fun, fast paced psychological thriller.

Sarah Morgan is a hot shot criminal lawyer in DC. Her husband, Adam Morgan is a struggling writer. Dissatisfied with his marriage, career, and …well, life, Adam is spiraling downward. FAST. He cannot seem to get a grip on his writing, his alcohol consumption, and now he also started to see another woman regularly at the lake house which Sarah bought for him to “write at”. Sh*t really hits the fan when Adam is arrested for the murder of his mistress which he is convinced he did not commit. Amazingly enough, his wife, graciously agrees to represent him in court despite his betrayal. Will Sarah be able to get to the bottom of this, and figure out “whodunnit”?

Told from 2 POVs The Perfect Marriage is heavy on juicy, “forbidden” details. Rough sex, cheating, self-loathing, overindulgence in sex and alcohol, traumatic childhood, dishonest cops, brutal murder – it has it all. The story unfolds at breakneck speed and is unputdownable. I was NOT able to guess whodunnit correctly, and was quite surprised by the shocking ending.

The audio production is fantastic. The Perfect Marriage is a dual narrator performance, and both Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt are phenomenal. I highly recommend this book on audio.

This being said I do have few issues with the way we were “led” to believe certain things.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS. Read ahead only if you have already read/listened to the book.

I feel like I was tricked, ya’ll 😊 I (somewhat) understand why the killer might have chosen to act the way he/she did, but I am confused as to why he/she would “think” in such misleading way when alone (??) I feel that we, the readers, were tricked into believing that this person could not have been our person of interest because of the way she/he voiced her/his thoughts and feeling with no one around. That did not really make too much sense to me.

Overall though, I think The Perfect Marriage was an impressive debut. I will definitely give Jeneva Rose’s other works a try.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media, NetGalley, and the author for giving me this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Fantastic narration from both narrators. They really brought the characters of Sarah and Adam to life as well as the secondary characters. Thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end.

Adam is on trial for the murder of his mistress...his wife is his lawyer.

I love thrillers that keep me guessing- and this on did just that! There were a few twists that were downright unrealistic but this was a fun one. I feel like sometimes with thriller, they can go a little haywire and become a little senseless but I like the entertainment so I don't mind. It can really make it fun sometimes. And that ending...wow.

The audiobook was well done as well. There were alternating narrators- one for Sarah, and one for Adam. I really enjoy when a story- especially thrillers have different narrators. It makes things easier to follow.

This was the authors debut and I will definitely look for more by her. This book is out tomorrow.

I started this story while wrapping Christmas presents on Christmas Eve and was instantly enthralled. I didn’t want to stop listening but with it being Christmas I had to. Needless to say I finished it as soon as was possible with in the next few days.

Who killed the mistress?

The author tells a story about Sarah Morgan a successful DC attorney and her husband Adam Morgan, a struggling author. At first it seems they have a perfect life together until Adam’s mistress if found dead in their 2nd home. The twists and turns of the story will keep you on your toes. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and my thank you goes out to NetGalley for the listen.

Wow wow wow... I was not expecting that ending! I loved this book I was hooked from the very beginning. I can honestly say when I wasn’t listening to this audiobook I was constantly thinking about it and trying to figure out Adam and the motives of every character.

Great book, it has some more pg13 moments but a great thriller nonetheless. Thank you to netgalley for an advanced reading copy. Very much appreciated

I love twists and turns but I also love likeable characters in a book. I didn't really like any of the characters in this story- and maybe that was by design, but I need that in order to love a book, I need someone to root for. Adam was sex crazed and immature (Mama's boy) and hearing his inner thoughts was frustrating - he deserves everything that he is getting in my opinion. I also am not a huge fan of the F word for the sake of using the F word... when other words will do. I was not a fan of the narrators either.

What I did really like about this book were what I would consider a well deserved ending and the different Points of View in the book.

I will read more by Jeneva Rose.

What a crazy, awesome story! This was a murder-mystery/wrongfully accused/legal thriller/domestic thriller mash-up, and I loved it!

Adam is having an affair.
His mistress is found dead in his lakehouse bed.
Adam is arrested.
His wife, a top defense attorney, becomes his lawyer.
Adam swears he didn’t do it.

That’s the main idea of this one. If Adam isn’t the murderer, who is? They need to work fast because he’s getting charged with murder and the prosecution is pushing for the death penalty.

I was really not expecting this book to go where it did. It was fast-paced and filled with twists that I was just completely taken by surprise with. I had inklings of who I thought did it, but then I would dismiss them because they didn’t seem to fit. Boy…😲 was I wrong!

This is a dual-POV story, so you get to hear Adam’s side of things as well as his wife’s. I liked that there are two narrators to tell the story in the audio version. They both did an excellent job, and it helped make the story come to life for me. I highly recommend the audio if you can grab it!

Overall, I thought this was an awesome thriller with so many twists, I was constantly second-guessing what was happening. The ending was great and made the whole story come together for me. I highly recommend it if you enjoy domestic thrillers!

I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Sarah is a successful lawyer and Adam is an author in a lull. When his mistress ends up murdered in Sarah and Adam’s lake house, Sarah is Adam’s best chance at being acquitted. I’m not typically a fan of fiction audiobooks, but this book kept me hooked from the start. The plot moves along and kept me engaged throughout the story and of course ends with a twist. If you’re a fan of thrillers, this is a must read.

What a ride, the perfect marriage has many twists and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just when I thought I had it figured out the ending took my breathe away. I enjoyed the story but LOVED the ending.

I kept seeing this one pop up EVERYWHERE and knew I had to read it. This book was like a game of clue. You think you know who did it. But then you think it might be this other person. And then you think it could be someone else. I loved how it was told from two different points of view. I can’t wait to see this one turned into a movie or mini series.

In a year of amazing female debut authors, Jeneva Rose joins the ranks of one of the best. The Perfect Marriage is a thriller lover’s dream. It’s twisty, it’s edgy, and it has a jaw-dropping finale that I promise you that you won’t see coming.

I was totally captivated by Jeneva’s strategy of telling the story in alternating chapters, one in the voice of Sarah Morgan, a badass defense attorney, and then one in the voice of her husband Adam, a lying, cheating, down-on-his-luck writer. So often in a book like this, the narrative is from one character’s point of view, and I felt the contrast in the stories gave the book a substance and dimension that left me feeling completely satisfied as a reader.

The narrators, Neil Hellagers and Teri Schnaubelt are amazing, and they definitely added to my enjoyment of this already thoroughly entertaining novel!

Wow! What a strong start to my 2021 reading! I was hooked right from the very start and I just HAD to finish this book. I could not put it down. It’s a great whodunnit storyline. The characters were great and my guesses changed throughout the book. I was a little disappointed with the ending but I still loved the reading experience throughout the book. I had a very hard time with thrillers in 2020 so I was very excited to finally read a good one to kick off the New Year! Very well done. I highly recommend checking this one out.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the Audio ARC of The Perfect Marriage.

WOW! It was so hard to pause this audiobook. I had theories early on and I was hoping that my theories were wrong so I was pleasantly surprised that as the story develops, I was more and more confused and everyone starts to become a suspect. The author's writing really helped me keep everyone straight because at first when everyone is being introduced, it's a little daunting and I was wondering if I could keep up. But, luckily there are very few scenes with a ton of characters so as I listened it was easy to remember who everyone was. All the way till the very end I was stumped! I'll be recommending this thriller read a lot.

Fast moving thriller. There were definitely some flaws along the way (the carefree way they approached the murder charges was a bit annoying ) but it was so much fun, I didn’t care. I flew through this one because I couldn’t wait to see how it would play out. The ending left me a little disappointed though, but I still recommend it. I’m excited to read another one by this author. Far fetched, but entertaining. A solid 4 stars most of the way, but the ending dropped it down to 3 1/2.

This was a solid thriller with unlikeable characters and an unpredictable ending. The storytelling alternates between Adam and Sarah, revealing the problems in their marriage and Adam’s stalled career. There are several suspicious characters along the way who keep you questioning who is at fault. I would have liked the legal proceedings portion to be drawn out a bit more at the end, but overall it’s a twisted domestic thriller.

If you need a quick and suspenseful thriller that will shock you, I recommend picking up The Perfect Marriage! The audiobook was especially easy to listen to with great narration.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book, didn’t LOVE it. I’m trying to get more into audiobooks but in this case it just really made it that much more dramatic. Lots of twists and turns. The ending surprised me for sure but seemed pretty far fetched.

It has been a couple if says since I finished this book and I am still thinking about it. The twists and turns of the roller coaster kept me thinking I had figured it out, but I was wrong. I never reread books, but I want to reread it and see if I missed obvious details because I was focused on other characters.

Adam Morgan, a struggling writer, is feeling neglected in his marriage with Sarah, a successful defense attorney. When his mistress is found stabbed to death, Adam becomes the number one suspect. Sarah has to face the challenge of tackling her toughest case yet of defending her husband, while trying to save her marriage to a man she hardly recognizes.

Listened to this one with my fiancé on our twelve-hour drive and it kept us entertained for most of the ride. He had more issues with it than I did, especially with the legal jargon and scenarios whereas I found the twist at the end satisfying, albeit insane. It was the perfect audiobook for a long drive because almost every chapter left us placing our bets on whodunnit.

We finished it and talked about it for about one minute and then moved on with the trip 😅. That pretty much sums it up. Entertaining and does its job as a psychological thriller. Would recommend the audiobook because I love quick thrillers to listen to and the narrators were great! Thank you @netgalley and @dreamscapemedia for this engrossing thriller!

I know I'm in the minority, but I did not love this book. I accidentally downloaded the audio version, and to be fair, this was my first time listening to an audiobook. I am sure I would have liked it a lot better if I was able to read it, since I get distracted and like to go back and reference sections. The narrators' voices didn't fit what I had in my head, and I actually flinched every time the woman narrating Sarah (the wife) read a man's voice, especially the southern drawl of the Sheriff. I also felt the dialogue was a little cliché in parts, and that the narrator for the husband (Alex) withheld in reading the angry parts. The story was pretty flat throughout, but I did add points for the action and twist at the end.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced reader's copy for review.

The Perfect Marriage review!

Adam’s mistress is found dead in his bed. He swears he didn’t do it. His wife is the only that can save him. Will she do it? This is a solid thriller. It’s a page turner that made me suspect each character at some point. Though, the ending wasn’t a jaw dropper, it was somewhat surprising. I finished in one afternoon because I couldn’t put it down. It also had some steam which is always fun 😆. The characters did drive me insane. Especially Adam’s mother. She was impossible! So prepare to hate literally all the characters! 3/5⭐️

This book, especially as an audioboook, was absolutely fantastic. I typically take pride in being able to guess the ending of a mystery or thriller, but I did NOT see that coming. Seriously, if you are looking for something fresh that will keep you in suspense the entire time, I would highly recommend checking out The Perfect Marriage. The audiobook was also very enjoyable and would definitely listen to something from the narrators again.

This was the perfect book to start the new year! Wow! Loved this domestic thriller and its twists and turns. This was a stellar “who done it” mystery just teeming with suspense. I sped through this audiobook in a day. The audio performance was brilliant with two different narrators representing the two main characters Adam and Sara. The plot alternates between Adam, Sara’s husband suspected of killing his mistress, and Sara, a top notch lawyer representing her husband Adam. Unreliable characters combined with a dynamic plot and layers of deceit made this story a fun and riveting read. A gracious thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for an advanced audio version in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook. A Perfect Marriage is a twisty domestic thriller that will keep you in suspense until the final twist. Is Adam guilty, or is someone else responsible for the murder? This is one of many questions dominating this puzzling whodunnit. The narration added a level of enjoyment and propelled the story to the breathtaking conclusion. Deception, betrayal and suspicion are perfectly executed as the mystery starts to unravel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This superior absolutely engrossing book The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose deserves a perfect five stars! Though the story may be your typical domestic thriller. Husband cheats on wife. Husband's mistress is found dead. Husband is the main suspect. Wife defends husband. The wife's job as a defense attorney is taking off while the husband's writing career plummets. Meet the couple Sarah and Adam Morgan. From the outside, it may look like everything seems perfect in the marriage, but from the inside, ugly secrets fester. Their quiet life was disturbed when Adam's lover, Kelly Summers, was found stabbed to death in their second home, a lake house in Virginia. Is Adam capable of killing the woman he is having an affair with whom he claims she loves? Sarah has decided to defend her philandering husband, find out the truth, and possibly, help set him free.

I know, if you were like me, my first reaction is WTF? Why would she do that? I've read so many mystery, thriller, and suspense novels, particularly domestic and psychological thrillers, to know that Sarah has a motive why she decided to defend the husband who cheated on her and destroyed their marriage. I was able to deduce from the beginning who killed Kelly Summers. While some of you might no longer enjoy the book because you easily found that out, in my case, that made me all the more interested in the book. Because for me, it's no longer the whodunit that satisfies me (believe me with all the books, TV shows, and podcasts I've read, listened to, and watched) but the unfolding of the story. It's the HOW and WHY that makes these types of novels interesting. Jeneva Rose did a solid job with how the story unfolded. Each and every scene is important to the events following. Every character has played an important role in the impact of the main and supporting characters on the roles that they play and on how the story progresses and eventually ends.

The book is told through two voices: Sarah and Adam. I appreciated that for the audiobook, the creators had chosen two narrators for a male and female character. Both Teri Schnaubelt and Neil Hellegers have brought Sarah and Adam to life. Their voice matches the characters' persona. Their pronunciation clear. The recording clear. There is not a single moment that I have lost interest while I was listening. I also enjoyed and appreciated immensely how the author had narrated the story and brilliantly chosen whose voice is going to narrate it. There is one chapter where Sarah is doing most of the action but it was Adam's thoughts I am listening to. This is very interesting how the author has written it this way. To me, this is very brilliant and intelligent of the author to do. I guess this is the author's writing signature.

Are you a fan of domestic psychological thriller? Do you enjoy observing or studying human behavior? The interesting relationship between a doting mother and her son? The friendship between women at work. The relationship between the mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law. A husband having an affair and he is in love with the woman he is having an affair with. I guarantee you will devour this book in a day or two. I just started a new career and I'm still in training. I have a lot of modules to learn and study. Despite all of that, I was still able to finish the book in just a couple of days. It's that good. What a great way to start 2021 with a brilliantly written domestic psychological thriller novel!

My sincerest gratitude to NetGalley, publisher Dreamscape Media, and author Jeneva Rose for providing me an advance digital copy of the audiobook. All reviews are voluntary, honest, and my own.

I was sucked into this book immediately, and I couldn't put it down. The story flew by, and I was definitely intrigued to see where it went. There are enough suspects and unlikeable characters that the book keeps you guessing until the end.

The narration was excellent, with just the right inflections and emotion. Each character had distinct voices so it was easy to tell them apart and just sink into the story.

And what a story it was. There are some things that came across as unrealistic regarding the police work and legal process, like autopsy and DNA results coming in overnight or a spouse as defense council. Some of the people's actions and dialog were also forced and unnatural. But it was really easy to overlook those minor things because the story was intriguing and such a great concept. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and DreamscapeMedia for an ARC.

Thank you Jeneva Rose, Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the #gifted copy of this audiobook.

Sarah and Adam have a perfect marriage... or do they? Adam’s mistress Kelly turns up dead in their lake home and he’s the last one to see her alive; his only hope at freedom is his top notch criminal defense attorney wife Sarah. Can they figure out who really killed Kelly and set Adam free?

If you’re looking for a thriller that will have you guessing up until the very end, this is an amazing option!! There are some great twists along the way, which will have you scratching you head and trying to solve this case alongside Sarah & Adam. And don’t worry... this isn’t a story you’re likely to solve along the way!

The story is told from the POV of both Sarah & Adam, letting us see into the depth of their feelings and also into the case as it unfolds. This is a fast paced read and will have you hanging on the edge of your seat. Expect the unexpected with this one, especially the fourth into the book you get!!!

𝙰𝚞𝚍𝚒𝚘𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔 𝚃𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜: Since this book is told from the POV of both Sarah & Adam, I appreciated that there were two narrators for this story. Each narrator had a clear and easy to listen to voice, which really help bring the personalities of their characters out in the reading of this story.

I'm closing out 2020 with the audiobook of The Perfect Marriage, and WOW, this book closes out my reading year with a bang. I cannot believe The Perfect Marriage is Jeneva Rose's debut novel. A wild ride from start to finish, this book is well-paced and very satisfying.

Top defense attorney Sarah Morgan is the best at, and in control of, everything in her life. Her husband Adam, on the other hand, is a struggling author whose mistress is found dead in the bed of Adam and Sarah's lakehouse. Sloppy policework, an overbearing mother-in-law, and betrayal from everyone she trusts won't keep Sarah from defending Adam; after all, Sarah is the best.

Without giving away anything, I'm afraid I can't say much else about the plot. Instead, I will just leave my opinion that The Perfect Marriage is a book domestic thriller lovers will absolutely devour. The audiobook narrators for Sarah and Adam were both easy to understand and easy to listen to. I will admit, I always change the audio speed to speed up the audio.

So, why 4 stars instead of 5 stars? First, a couple of minor frustrations: There are a couple of events in the book that seem unexplained, and I wondered if I missed something, or if the author intended to come back and do something with these events, but then did not. Likewise, I wondered if such a small group of characters really could have so many individuals with anger issues; there are a number of characters who either completely lose their temper or fantasize about taking out their anger in violent ways. More importantly in my rating, there is a significant time jump near the end of the book, and after spending so many detailed hours with the characters, I felt a little cheated by losing so much time with Sarah and Adam when we jump ahead at the end.

A most important note in my rating: I decided to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 stars primarily because of the language and the graphic descriptions. The story is so good; I feel like the plot and characters could have held up without these unnecessary excesses, although I can see that the author probably included some of it to help create the personalities of the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley, Ms. Rose, and Dreamscape media for an opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for my honest review. The Perfect Marriage was published on Dec 29, 2020.

YES, JENEVA ROSE - thank you! You have somewhat restored my faith in female authors in the thriller genre! FINALLY, in my last book of 2020, there is a book about a strong female character! Not an unreliable female narrator, not a woman who is a drunk, not a woman who acts so completely stupid that you can't stand it!

This was an interesting story that moved a bit slowly in the beginning and middle, but got much better in the end! Perhaps because it was an audiobook; perhaps it was the story itself? The narration was good and it was engaging. This is absolutely a worthwhile read!

Wow. I feel like I got slapped by that epilogue!

The Perfect Marriage follows a married couple as the husband's mistress is found dead, stabbed multiple times, in their own bed at their second house where Adam spend most of his time. Sarah, his wife is a really good lawyer and even though he's a cheater, she decides to defend him because she doesn't believe he killed Kelly.

At first, it seems like it's not very complex and is pretty straight forward as to "who did it" but the more I listened to this audiobook, the more I suspected everyone. That last chapter killed me as I never saw it happened. You can bet I'm going to remember that ending for a long time! I still don't know how to feel about it but what I know is that I couldn't put down this book and I'm glad I read it. If Jeneva Rose publishes something else, I'll definitely check it out.

Leaving 2020 with a bang with this one! I love a good courtroom drama and this one did not disappoint. Infidelity, murder, multiple suspects, red herrings, prison escapes, this book had it all. It was a very entertaining story. I actually listened to the audiobook when I was working around the house and would read the Kindle version when I could sit down and read. I needed to find out who did it! I have never done that with a book before. The narrators were great and easy to listen to. One of my top books of 2020!

This is a story about betrayal.

I’m torn on how to rate & review this book. On the one hand,I hated all of the characters, and felt both irritated & amused by the blatantly unprofessional conduct displayed... and on the other hand I appreciated the twist at the end. Overall, an okay book.

What would you do if you found out your was in police custody for murdering his mistress? Would you divorce him murder him yourself or defend him as Sarah Morgan does? Sarah and her husband Adam take turns narrating their story in The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose. I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook which featured a voice actor for each of them.

The Perfect Marriage was filled with twists that made me want to continue listening to see how the next played out. I’ve read many of this thriller style and can usually guess how they end, but I was surprised in the end!

Thrillers are my favorite on Audio and this one was soooo good! The book itself was phenomenal, and the narration by Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt just put it over the top.

This was the most addictive book that I have read/listened to in a while. A lot of thrillers have a wife/husband/murder thing going on, but Jeneva Rose put such a fresh spin on it! I was immediately pulled in and hanging on every twist till the end. I was suspicious of everyone at some point in the book... I love it when I can not see the end coming like I did with this one! Sarah was such a badass, and also a saint for dealing with her witch of a Mother-In-Law with such class like she did. And Adam made for such an unlikeable character, what a creep!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for my copy of this Audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

WOW! What a WILD ride! This Audiobook was exceptional to say the least! It was fast-paced, interesting, suspenseful, and a thriller (my fav genre)! The Perfect Marriage? No no no, not so perfect after all. This story is told in two different perspectives - Sarah (a highly successful criminal attorney) and her husband - Adam (a successful writer). Sarah is shocked when her husband is arrested for a murder …. the murder of his … MISTRESS! Sarah decides to represent Adam and slowly uncovers everything that he has been hiding. This makes it very difficult to defend him, which leads him to be sentenced to the death penalty after serving some time in prison. This books ending shocked me and kept me captivated throughout! The story was very well thought-out and written to say the least, especially all the surprise plot twists at the end! If you haven’t already, I highly recommend picking this one up to read or listen to! Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to review this audiobook.

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose pulled me in immediately. I loved the twists and turns the author wrote. Kudos to the author for not letting me figure it out the ending. Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt both were fantastic bringing the characters to life. They each added the right emotions to their performance. Thank you #NetGalley and #Dreamscape Media for this great audiobook. I loved it.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audiobook version of this book. This was an excellent who done it mystery and I did not figure out the murderer in advance, and this makes me very happy. What a sick and twisted reveal to what really happened to Kelly and how she came to be murdered! While I found many aspects of Scott's case, including Sarah's work as his attorney, to be quite unrealistic, I still thoroughly enjoyed the mystery as a complete work of fiction and I stuck with it. I'm glad I did!

Having a dedicated narrator for both Sarah and Scott really helped bring this story to life. The back and forth story telling between his and her points of views fleshed out the mystery well and yet still kept me guessing.

Rating: 4.5/ 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 and a half of glass
Book: The Perfect Marriage
Release Date: Available TODAY!!! (December 29, 2020)
Author: Jeneva Rose
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers

Sipping Synopsis: Picture the person that you love and have devoted your life to has cheated on you. Now picture this, you are a big shot lawyer who decides to represent this cheating husband because the woman he cheated on you with has been found dead in your second house. This is what has happened to Sarah Morgan as she tries to defend her husband, Adam Morgan, who looks mighty guilty.

Final sipping thoughts: For the record, I would absolutely NOT be representing my husband if I were a lawyer and he cheated on me. In reality, I would probably need a lawyer as this cheating husband might have the same fate as his mistress, if you get my drift 😠😏. As soon as I read the first few chapters, I absolutely knew who the killer was. Although I was correct, the how, why, and juicy details were OH SO good!! This may be Jeneva’s debut novel but if she writes any follow-up novels like this one, I will be first in line to grab it! I want to also note that I listened to the audio version of this and the narrators Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt embodied the characters Sarah and Adam. The nuances of their voices and the emotion behind it had me wanting to keep going to the next chapter even though I needed to do all the things required as an adulting wife and mother.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley, @DreamscapeMedia and @JenevaRoseAuthor for an advanced copy of @ThePerfectMarriage

I loved this! I devoured this one in a day because it was just so good! There are so many questions that go through your mind throughout the book and you will never guess the ending. Being a crime enthusiast, I went through so many different scenarios and I never came up with the correct answer. I enjoyed the multiple perspectives and the additional characters really added to the story. I had a hunch about one part but that was it! I didn't like some of the characters but that was how it was meant to be. You are not supposed to love all these characters and it adds to the mystery of trying to figure out who the guilty one is! I loved all the added twists which made it even harder to come to a conclusion. This was like watching an episode of Criminal Minds and I was all for it!

This being the debut novel for Jeneva is so exciting as it was amazing. I am really looking forward to what else she comes out with in the future!

Adam's mistress, Kelly, winds up stabbed to death in the lake house that he shares with his workaholic wife, Sarah, and he is the prime suspect. Sarah is a prominent criminal defense attorney and agrees to take Adam's case despite his infidelity.

I thought this was an excellent book that I cruised through in a day because I had to know what was going on. It was an intriguing premise and there were just enough possibly guilty people to keep me guessing. Excellent debut. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Wow, just wow! I am sitting here a little speechless after listening to this book. That ending was superb. I mean, the rest of the book was great as well, but I honest;y didn’t see that coming until right before it happened!!

I definitely do not want to give anything away about this book because I wouldn’t want to t]ruin it for anyone else. So I will say if you like a good psychological thriller, pick it up! Now! And the audio version was so good. Both narrators did a wonderful job and I look forward to listening to another audio by both of them.

I love it when a book lives up to the hype! Sarah Morgan, a successful defense attorney, takes on her husband Adam as a client after his mistress is found stabbed to death in their second home. But did he do it? Told from both Sarah and Adam’s perspectives, this book is addicting and deliciously twisty, and you won’t be able to stop listening until you reach its shocking end.

It took a few chapters to adjust to the voices of the secondary characters, but other than that, this is my new favorite audiobook. The Perfect Marriage was the perfect start to my NetGalley experience.

In this book, a husband and wife face a life changing ordeal. The husband is framed for murdering his pregnant mistress. His wife takes on his case as he is facing the death penalty. Unfortunately, I did not get hooked on the story until the last 3 chapters. The story itself was ok, just a bit boring/bland. The ending was very unexpected which saved the book for me.

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose is a great psychological thriller that is filled with so many twists and turns. It is a book that will quickly suck you in and keep you guessing the entire time. I will admit, I started to feel like it was getting lengthy and I was ready to get it figured out. However, towards the ends it kept getting even better. The ending will leave you with your mouth wide open. Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to review this audiobook. I definitely recommend any reader to listen to this, especially if you love thrillers!

Jeneva Rose crafted a suspenseful thriller filled with endless drama that left me guessing until the very end. This story is based on Sarah Morgan, a successful defense attorney in Washington DC, who finds herself defending her own husband, Adam, a man accused of murdering his mistress. While their marriage may look perfect on the outside, we learn that Adam has been engaging in a lengthy passionate affair with Kelly Summers. As details about their affair and her inevitable murder are exposed, I constantly found myself questioning whether or not Adam was guilty. I have been left thinking about the end of this book for days, how did I not see it coming?!
I do wish we were able to experience more of the murder trial as there was so much build up and it was almost completely skipped over.
I am a huge fan of crime podcasts so I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I think I’ll make a habit of listening to more thrillers on audio.

3.5 stars!
The perfect marriage started off strong. I enjoyed the audio and the switch of point of views but I felt the storyline a bit unbelievable and problematic. This domestic thriller was fast paced and filled with twists I liked both Sarah and Adam but for me it fell a bit flat.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an audio version of the perfect marriage for my honest review. I look forward to reading more books by Jenova Rose!

The book, story, and narrative was very well written. I didn't see it coming but i did kind of feel like i knew the story but i really didn't. Murder mystery was very well carried out and the end was fantastic , terrible but wow !
Loved the audiobook , I thoroughly enjoyed team reading. The narrators did a fantastic job I loved their voices fit so well with the characters. Having different people narrate the book makes it more engaging. I highly recommend this book !!!

HOLY TWIST! I wish the audio was better on the Netgalley app, but besides that this was WOW what a great read. I could NOT put it down. Literally so hooked. I actually ended up buying this too since I wanted to support the authors. I can't wait to read more by her!

I really enjoyed this fast-paced legal thriller. My guess at the killer was wrong, and I love being stumped!

The short chapters made this book fly by, and the differing perspectives were very well done. It was interesting to see the story from both the husband and wife’s points of view.

I loved how the information was presented as the book progressed–the author would hint at something and then not mention it again for chapters and chapters. Just when you began to think she left a loose end, she brought the plot back around and tied up all those hints in a satisfying bow.

Excellent debut novel–I can’t wait to see what Jeneva Rose does next!

I enjoyed the narrators, and thought they fit the characters very well. The audiobook definitely did the novel justice.

This was a good psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the end! It's the story of Adam Morgan (having lived in Northern VA for years, I couldn't help but think of Adams Morgan, an area of DC, everytime I heard this!) who was having an affair when his mistress was murdered. Adam is the one suspect and on trial with his wife, a prominent lawyer, defending him. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. It's told from 2 points of view, Adam and his wife, Sarah. The voice for Sarah reminded me of the Tik Tok video voice used for dogs when they are in trouble, if that makes sense. I listened to it over two days and was so interested to find out what happens so I couldn't put it down.

*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sarah is a successful lawyer and her husband Adam is a fleeting writer. He has wanted to try for a family, and she has focused more on her career than their marriage. But that is no excuse for the affair Adam starts and continues during his stays at their second home in Virginia. When Adam’s mistress is found dead, he is charged with her murder. Sarah swoops in to defend her husband while learning the truths of his unfaithfulness. Can their marriage survive such deceit and possible crimes?

My thoughts: I loved the audiobook version of this book. The male and female narrators make it easy to follow along with the alternating pov of Sarah and Adam. The story was gripping, characters unreliable and the plot kept me guessing. Somethings made me say ‘hmm’ how could that really happen, but I couldn’t wait to keep listening.

I enjoyed this audiobook but whew did I not like some of the characters. And that ending wow!! This will definitely take some time to digest. I was rooting for one person the whole time and then I wasn’t. This was a mind twist of a book for sure! Highly recommend the audio version. The narrators were great with differentiating the characters with their voices.

Audiobook was a fantastic way to "read" The Perfect Marriage. Two different narrators do the man and woman's chapters. Both are clear, on point, and "sound" like who the author is trying to portray. Would highly recommend.

Jeneva Rose does an impressive job of twisting a thriller together in a way that keeps you guessing the whole way through. Adam Morgan is accused of murdering his mistress, who is found dead in their vacation home--and his badass attorney wife, Sarah Morgan, decides she is his only hope of being declared innocent. More players come into the arena as we learn nearly everyone around them is suspect for a variety of reasons. There is fantastic push-pull tension from the characters and their relationships.

I gave this book 4/5 stars for the simple reason that while I really enjoyed this book, and thought the plot was well developed, the characters at times did things that seemed just--OUT there, and maybe didn't fit with how they had acted up to that point. I also felt that some of the legal technicalities were more convenient than factual--like, there really didn't seem to be enough proof for a conviction without reasonable doubt, so I had a hard time buying into that part. Still a great read, and I'll for sure pick up this Rose's next book.

Thanks NetGalley/DreamscapeMedia for a free audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

First off, I would like to thank Dreamscape Media and Net Galley for letting me listen to the audiobook version of The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose in exchange for an honest review. I rated this book 4 stars because I loved how fast-paced the story progressed and how the author’s writing kept me on my toes. I was constantly trying to figure out if Adam was innocent or guilty and I felt that the Jeneva Rose did a wonderful job of building suspense throughout the entire book. I thought that this was a great read and I could not stop listening. Overall, I really enjoyed the audiobook version of The Perfect Marriage and I am definitely looking forward to reading more books by Jeneva Rose in the future.

Wow this was a great thriller and audio! I loved that each chapter was either the husband or wife. The whole story kept you guessing as to who the murderer was and even at the end I wasn't 100% sure until it was revealed. I was shocked by the ending for sure!

A solid thriller debut from a new author! I read on Rose's Goodreads page that she has three other books written but is looking for a publisher. Someone sign her!
The Perfect Marriage follows the unraveling of Adam and Sarah's marriage after Adam's mistress, Kelly, is murdered. The premise was not entirely new, but Rose has a knack for keeping you on the edge of your seat. I thought I had figured out what happened like 4 different times, but it certainly didn't end the way I was expecting. I have seen a lot of other reviews slamming this book for its use of profanity and dirty sex. But I'm here for it. That sort of stuff doesn't bother me, but I honestly didn't find it to be any more than what I read in other popular books. I'm really hoping to see more from this author in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest feedback!

I appreciate a book that keeps you guessing and highly suspicious of every character, and The Perfect Marriage does just that.

When Sarah Morgan, a very successful defense lawyer, finds herself defending her own husband’s murder trial the stakes couldn’t be higher. As the case unfolds more lies are revealed and lives are forever changed. This high paced thriller brings you all the drama of the court case, as well as a very heavy dose of marital drama. I enjoyed it start to finish, albeit some of the happenings in the second half were very far fetched.

Audiobook notes: As far as the narrators of the book I thought they were very easy to listen too. I found in the beginning they were maybe a little breathy/airy in their tones as if they were trying to seduce the reader even when that wasn’t the tone of the book. Overall they were very pleasant to listen too.

Thanks NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ARC in return for an Honest Review

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose is a solid psychological/thriller read. I truly enjoyed the dual perspective and the strong female character. It also contains that annoying ass mother-in-law who thinks there kid can do nothing wrong 🙄. Being the true crime thriller enthusiasts I am I did guess most of the storyline. However, it’s a quick thriller full of twists, mystery and law.

If you’re looking for a psychological/domestic thriller with a strong female character you should definitely check this one out. Also, the narrators were great!

Love love LOVED this!!!! I never listened to an audiobook that I couldn’t wait to listen to, and took every possible moment to hear what happens next. Twists, turns, and quite an unexpected ending that came together perfectly. Absolutely no complaints here!! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Morgans… Sarah and Adam.
Both are privileged in life but one is more successful than the other and one and only one holds on to the marriage tight.

Sarah is a successful lawyer with A-List clients. Adam is a struggling writer who is quite jealous of his wife’s career. He is happy for her success but with this comes a lot of responsibility. Sarah has always been busy and Adam feels lonely at times. But his loneliness ended when he met Kelly.
The affair continues until one day it stopped… because she was found murdered.
Adam became the suspect of this crime because he was the last person that Kelly was with. The power of marriage entered in this situation because Sarah didn’t think twice in representing and defending Adam in court.

I listened to the audiobook of this novel and the narrators did an amazing job portraying the Morgans. Right from the get go, I felt annoyed with many characters and that kept the story interesting. The flow of the story was smooth and I didn’t see the plot twist coming (although, I kind of smelled something already mid-novel). This was Jeneva Rose’s debut novel and it was well written! It was insanely gripping and throughout listening to the audiobook I can’t help but walk around the room feeling the tension that the characters are put into.
I am looking forward to more Jeneva Rose novels.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook.

Wow!!! What a fast paced, corner turning, make you second guess yourself book! I loved the story line in this book. I was suspecting everyone and still didn’t figure out who did everything in the end.

This book switches back and forth between Sara and Adam. I liked the duel perspective and I think it added to the suspicion. There were definitely times I could relate to Sara emotionally and my heart broke for her. There were many things that happened in this book that made me think “what?!?” But in a good story line way!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers!

A huge thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the audio of this book for my honest review!

Main characters Sarah and Adam Morgan is supposed to be celebrating their 10th anniversary but of course they didn't expect it to go the way it has gone. Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney while her husband is a struggling writer who is not quite in love with her anymore who was always too busy to spend time with her husband. The day came and went away, but oh how Adam wished it only went a different route. Of course, Adam is accused of murdering his mistress and if you think that's crazy well.....his wife is defending him. WTH!! Jeneva girrrrrl you did that!!! I was sold from the start. Who does that? I know it wouldn't and couldn't be me. No ma'am!! If you haven't read this in 2020 you better add it to your TBR for 2021 and at the top too. Thank you netgalley for offering this as an audio. Also, thank you to the author Jeneva Rose for an autographed copy that I won in a giveaway.

Ok, hear me out. This was a good debut novel by Jeneva Rose and I raised it to a 4⭐️ on goodreads and netgalley. On that note, I want to thank Netgalley for this audio version in exchange for an honest review.

Positives
This was a page-turner, fast-paced, kept you guessing of the culprit throughout the entire novel. There were plenty of twists and turns and that ending, was a twist on its own. I was not expecting from the start but had a slight feeling that it was going there. I enjoyed the dual point of views between Adam & Sarah. From the moment you start, it seems like an open-shut case but the more you listen to it, the more complex it got.

Negatives
The main issue I got was I just could not connect and it left me with more questions then I had answers. For a law stand point, the whole wife defending her husband in court held issues for me, brought forth legality issues and even the ethics of this whole scenario. Also, the profanity in this novel, holy cow 😳 - was that really necessary

In all, I do recommend this book. It will bring you on a wild ride!

This domestic thriller was full of suspense and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I will say that it was full of profanities that I did not like and could have definitely done without. Besides those, the story was excellent! I could never guess what had happened until the end of the book. I listened to this as an audiobook and I enjoyed the use of dual narrators for both main characters.

An enjoyable read jam packed with action and twists around every corner. *3.5/5

The plot is rather basic - husband is accused of killing his mistress and his loyal lawyer wife defends him. Admittedly I wasn’t overly intrigued at first glance, but the narrative was very intriguing and sucked me right in. Chaos ensues rather early, which was great at first, but then it plateaued until the last quarter or so. The killer was super obvious in my mind, but Rose included so many interesting twists along the way and especially at the end, so it was worth it. I thought there were far too many coincidences at one point, but it wrapped up very nicely in the end. I’ll be on the lookout for more work by Jeneva Rose.

The narrators have wonderful voices that were easy to listen to, even if some of the side characters were indistinguishable at times.

A huge thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGallery for access to the ARC Audiobook.

Sarah is a super successful defense attorney living her dream life. Her husband, Adam, is a struggling writer who is feeling neglected by his workaholic wife… Adam gets back at Sarah by engaging in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers at the couple’s lakehouse. One morning everything changes when Kelly if found brutally stabbed to death. Will Sarah be able to take on her hardest case ever and defend her cheating husband in a murder case?

The Perfect Marriage is a hard one for me to review. First off, I honestly found this audiobook highly entertaining. The voices were well done and I wanted to find out what happened next…

But the story was also completely ridiculous. It’s like the author has never watched an episode of Law & Order even. Her knowledge of police procedures or the court process. The timeline of the crime and trial was completely wonky, there was no investigation, and I was just left feeling frustrated.

But like I said- this one is seriously entertaining! Three stars!

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audiobook of The Perfect Marriage.

The Perfect Marriage is a great example of what I consider the perfect mystery thriller read! Author Jeneva Rose has written a gripping thriller that will keep you guessing throughout the story. I found the story to be original and entertaining. The characterizations were interesting and unique in many ways. The mother-in-law was priceless referring to her grown son as, “Cubby-Bear.”

The Perfect Marriage evoked strong feelings from me. I loved the twists and turns and there was no shortage of suspects. In fact, the group of disparate suspects made this a fun, yet chilling and challenging read!

I look forward to reading more from this author.

QOTD: How do you work your way out of a reading slump?

I’ve found myself slumping a bit this week after the events at the US Capitol. I got sucked into the news cycle election-style.

I’ve been on a bit of a thriller kick. So, hoping this @netgalley audiobook copy of The Perfect Marriage by @jenevaroseauthor will be able to pull me out of it. I’ve started three books this week and haven’t finished any of them 😅 but this one it definitely holding my attention.

I thought I’d hate it based on the first line alone, but it’s gotten much better since (I’m 3/4 through) and I’ve changed my mind a million times about who the killer might be.

This book is on shelves now!

Wow! What a ride! Excellent listen for the audio!!

Sarah Morgan is a successful lawyer who finds herself defending her husband Adam for the murder of his mistress, found stabbed in their bed at their lake house. You may ask yourself how can a woman do that, after what Adam has done? Stay tuned till the very end where you will get quite a twist!

Very engaging audio, excellent narrators! My thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to review.

WOW. That was a ride. First, every single piece of the book was entertaining. I didn’t come across one paragraph that I wanted to skip through (which is rare for me). I was enthralled all the way until the end. Speaking of the end, wow! Never would have guessed the ending (and I thought I knew who the killer was!).

You learn in the beginning, Kelly has been murdered. Adam, her lover, was accused of stabbing her 37 times (yikes). Sarah, Adam’s wife, who is also a lawyer, took on his case. How could a wife take on her husbands case who is accused of murdering his mistress you ask? Well, Sarah is a bad ass. I really enjoyed her character and the perspective of her character.

This was a super quick “listen” for me (I received the audio version). I had to know what happened. Who killed Kelly? I bet you’ll never guess!

I would highly recommend this book/audio to anyone!

Jeneva Rose's novel, The Perfect Marriage is a propulsive legal thriller full of twists and turns that will leave you breathless. Sarah Morgan is a defense attorney on the fast track at her DC law firm. Everything in her life appears to be going according to plan. Her husband Adam is a writer who hasn't written anything in years and lives in the shadow of his successful wife. And while Sarah realizes Adam has problems she isn't prepared to for the shock of finding him accused of the murder of his pregnant mistress in their vacation home. Hurt and bewildered, Sarah agrees to defend Adam against the charges and find the truth behind the murder.

I listened to this book on audio and it was really well done. I really liked the narrators. It is always helpful to have more than one as you get a real feel for the characters. This is a fast paced legal thriller that points you in many directions and has lots of surprises. The ending is what always sells me on a thriller and this one was really effective and unforseen. This is one of those books that if you divulge much information it will spoil the book for the reader. This book is all about the twists and unexpected revelations.

The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that the character of Adam is completely unlikeable. The way he thinks and talks about really made me dislike him. His first reaction to every woman is to describe her appearance and sex appeal. Women seem to exist merely for his pleasure and to be a boost for his fragile ego. I assume the author intended for the reader to have this reaction to him for the purposes of the plot. Still I would have liked to be able to feel a little sympathy towards him.

This book had me thoroughly confused as to who done it. As soon as I thought I knew, a new suspect would emerge and I loved that. I read lots of thrillers and it's hard to surprise me but this one really did. If you like books that move at a fast pace with lots of red herrings and surprises I would recommend this one. I would also encourage you to listen to the audiobook as it is really well done.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

It is very difficult for me to share negative opinions on books because I know that authors pour their heart and soul into their books. I strive to always extend grace to authors, but, ultimately, my responsibility is to readers. I will always share my honest thoughts.

There are so many elements to this book that I really liked. The writing is good, the premise is alluring, the characters are relatable, it’s perfectly paced, she did a great job at casting suspicions around. I LOVED the book until the end.
.
It seemed to me that the author had the goal of writing a shocking ending, which she delivered- but, I feel like it was at the expense of the overall integrity of the plot.

I am normally not a nitpicky reader, I can ignore some coincidences and holes, realizing it’s fiction, but there was just too much for me to get past in this one. It just fell apart for me.
