Description

If Alice had gone to a sketchy doctor in a sketchy part of town this might be the rabbit hole she went down. Charlie Cain went looking for a cure for a minor pain and was given a medicament with a teensy side effect: it made Charlie invisible. This is the story of what happens next. Charlie’s journey is Something Like Yours.

A Note From the Publisher

Corey Mesler has published over thirty books and is a well-known figure in Memphis and the literary world in general. This novel involves Mesler's typical concerns of word craft and character, mixed with his typical tongue-in-cheek eroticism.

Advance Praise

"The Diminishment of Charlie Cain is a funny, outrageous, moving, darkly comic odyssey. Part wish-fulfillment, part just plain crazy, wildly imaginative, bonkers and not exactly tasteful, the hapless Charlie Cain tumbles from one sexual adventure to the next and the journey, funny and sad and even moving, is one you're never likely to forget. What an extraordinary book."

--Edward Carey, author of Little and Observatory Mansions

"Mesler is a lyrical observationist. His wisely paced understatement and keen eye transforms an otherwise tale of woe into a magical spark. The Diminishment of Charlie Cain is a wonderful book by a consistently sage author."

--Steven Gillis, author of Liars and Benchere in Wonderland

Thanks to NetGalley, for the advance copy Of The Diminishment of Charlie Cain. What an insane, crazy,gut-buster of a book. I laughed way too much! Description If Alice had gone to a sketchy doctor in a sketchy part of town this might be the rabbit hole she went down. Charlie Cain went looking for a cure for minor pain and was given a medicament with a teensy side effect: it made Charlie invisible. This is the story of what happens next. Charlie’s journey is Something Like Yours. Poor Old Charlie has become unhinged due to a visit to a doctor. He has become everything people would maybe love to do if unseen. I guess, without a spoiler, I will say, it was the high light of my year. You will just have to relate and love the wickedly funny Charlie Cain.

Thank you Corey Mesler and NetGalley for the chance to read this hilarious book. From the start poor Charlie seems to be in the one step forward - two steps back pattern going down the rabbit hole. He seems to never be able to catch a break. Don't want to spoil it for you. Do yourself a favor and check out this book. You will be amused and increase your vocabulary!!
