This is the fifth book in the DI Fawley series. I will point out I have read all the previous books and an a fan but in my opinion you can pick any of them up and read as a stand-alone.
This was another gripping installment, take everything you think you know and turn it all on its head and that is where this novel gets good. You can’t rely on preconceived ideas to get to the bottom of this story, plus you have the added suspense of what’s happening around DI Adam Fawley. I’d have no problem recommending this or any of the books in the series.

What a compelling book!
I’m ashamed to say that I’ve previously not read or listened to the DI Adam Fawley series , but this doesn’t detract from this story , and there is a helpful recap of characters at the beginning for someone in my position. The calibre of writing and the characters back stories allows this book to be read/ listened to as a stand-alone .
There are two cases running through the story the first case is one of sexual assault , the accuser is a male student and the alleged perpetrator is a female professor. Who is telling the truth? This adds a he said she said element to the book, and who do you believe? The writing is both intuitive and enthralling.

The other case is an old case involves Gavin Parrie who is dubbed the “ the roadside rapist” and he was convicted and served a prison sentence The original case involved Fawley’s wife Alex.. Parrie is released , and Fawley finds himself a primary suspect in a murder case.

The narratives in this book are excellent , it kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed how the true crime podcast was mingled in to the story and the narration is superior in its nature. The characters and story lines kept me engaged until the end , and on reaching the conclusion I felt both a surge of relief and contentment.

I avidly await the next in the series.

A fabulous book! I didn't realise until I'd started listening to this one that it was part of the Adam Fawley series that I'd enjoyed last year. Cara is a very good author, writing interesting stories with lots of side stories and backstories that tie together or help to develop depth of character. This one is no exception: there are so many plot twists!
Adam Fawley and his team investigate a sexual assault that isn't quite what it seems and just as you're thinking that perhaps this book isn't quite as thrilling as the others, an old case returns and the pace ramps up.

4.75* Gore score 1/5
This is #5 in the Adam Fawley series.
🎧Audio version with a cast of 3 narrators. They are excellent. I love Lee Ingleby as Adam Fawley. The narration adds tension and suspense increasing the enjoyment of the book and increased my score from the book version.
I read the book awhile back I absolutely love Lee Ingleby narrating so I couldn’t resist listening to the audio too. Adam Fawley’s character is likeable, he loves and is concerned about his heavily pregnant wife. I like his dry wry sense of humour. He is a dedicated detective.
Great that there’s a catch up for people new to the series, or just as a reminder for those familiar with the books.
The book has 2 threads starting with a male Oxford student accusing one of the female uni professors of sexual assault. The beginning of this thread starts off a little tamely but soon ramps up in intensity.
The other main thread evolves around Adam and Alex. Adam’s previous actions comeback to haunt him, as some one is after revenge.
I didn’t find the social media sections add anything to the book, being a bit of a distracting with the lengthy user names. I love the use of the true crime podcast, they are the modern whodunnits.
I love that Adam Fawley talks to the reader directly, that makes the reader feel very included.
There’s some great twists and turns with both threads all very believable.
This is my favourite book of the series that I’ve read. It is only the slightly slow start that holds it back from being 5*. I think I’m probably being overly picky here.
The series is being made into a tv drama I am keeping my fingers crossed that they use Lee Ingleby in the lead role, for me he epitomises Adam Fawley.

A clever plot with some compelling characters so what’s not to love? My first Cara Hunter as far as I can remember but now I want the back story filled out so will be getting the previous books in the series. It’s a stand alone book though but it just tantalises a new reader to want more.

#Edit I first read this book on my kindle but have since listened to the audio book which was excellent, very well read and only added to my enjoyment.
First my thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my early copy of The Whole Truth. I am a huge fan of Cara Hunter's and I have a bit of a crush on Adam Fawley so I was delighted to read the latest in this police drama series.

It was such a pleasant surprise to find The Fawley Files at the beginning of the book which worked so well for me as I read a lot of books and many of them are of the same genre; it was a great little refresher , but would also be helpful to anyone coming across The Whole Truth without prior knowledge of the series.

As ever Cara Hunter weaves two storylines together with an expert touch keeping the reader on their toes the whole time, another triumph!

My only problem was that texts and sketches were not readable, at least on my Kindle, annoying but not too much of nuisance.

I am so excited to read that a television series is planned, I just hope they pick the right person for Adam and don't ruin my little mental dalliance!

Although this is the fifth in the series, I didn't feel lost as I listened to this audiobook as there was a quick recap at the start so that I knew the key characters quickly. I was hooked, a case of sexual assault between a student and their Oxford professor, and then later another case. I enjoyed there being two cases running simultaneously, it felt more realistic than crime novels that only seem to have one crime happening in it. I used to live on Walton Well Road in Oxford, which made some of the details in this book a little too realistic for me, but it was also great that I knew the places being mentioned.

I will definitely be going back to read the others in the series. Great book!

I actually found this audiobook really hard to follow. Thankfully I was approved the book and the audiobook and the book is much more enjoyable.

There are so many characters, so many plot twists and certain aspects just don't come across well on the audio version like the group text messages, twitter comments and the podcasts. All are really informative on the rumours of the crime but frustrating to listen to a phone vibrate for the group messages then to verbally hear the music fade commands for the podcasts. It just doesn't compute well sadly.

However, the actual story line is great. The plot comes toegther really well. And the writing really emerces you in the characters (more so in the book version).

I listened to and read this book, absolutely brilliant, the narrators totally captivated me.
The story was as usual gritty, edge of your seat stuff x
Highly recommended in both forms.

The world of audio books has come a long way from the days of listening to set books in order to ease the task of reading the classics to get through English lessons and exams. This book is so well narrated with different voices which helps. Having not read the previous books in this series it was at first hard to follow the many characters. Yes, there was an introduction to each given at the start but without the ability to ‘skip back’ and remind one’s self of who was who, it took a while to get into the flow. I would recommend that you don’t try to multi task whilst listening to begin with or you may lose the plot! However, this is an enjoyable listen and a good detective story. A mix between Endeavour and Call of Duty but as an audio instead of TV drama. Recommended for crime drama fans.

I’m always excited by a new Cara Hunter novel coming out but this is the first time I’ve had an audiobook version, it was quite different to other audiobooks as it had a recap of who is who at the start and it was read by different narrators and even had a few sound effects which made it more interesting, I would say though if you haven’t already done so read the novels from before (this is book 5) as it will make understanding of the characters much better as there is quite a back story. This particular one has Detective Adam Fawley investigating a alleged sexual assault between a student and teacher, it uses a narrative between the characters and podcasts and hashtags showing the way trial by media in the 21st century, it is cleverly written with plenty of twists and turns to keep you engaged. The epilogue at the end was a satisfying conclusion and excellent news that the rights have been given to making the series into a tv programme, I just hope they can live up to the novels.. I look forward to the next instalment.

Set in Oxford and the surrounding area the book is gives accurate place names and describes the areas very well. A modern day Morse mystery connected to one of the colleges, a police officer accused of a crime, two story lines are being investigated. What was the motive? A book full of twists and turns, good narration, thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook.

I have to admit firstly that I have become a real fan of Cara Hunter’s books, so was very happy to be offered this one to review. I was not let down! This time our protagonist is the one in the spotlight, accused of the most appalling crime, whilst we also examine a tale of sexual assault. Who really is the perpetrator?
I loved this book and especially the epilogue.

The Whole truth’ is my first experience of author Cara Hunter, and Im delighted to have encountered her work through this utterly gripping audiobook!

Though part of the ‘DI Adam Foley’ series, I can testify that this absolutely stands up a a standalone. I feel very motivated to seek out the other titles, and not at all concerned as to keeping to chronology.

At the end of the book we learn that this series has been commissioned for TV, an exciting prospect, and if this book is anythingI to go by, I have no doubt the series is more than worthy!

I was sold on the synopsis that promised the ‘professor taking advantage of student’ scenario with a twist: a female professor and strong male post graduate student, this story was delivered and a whole lot more! Such a gripping plot! DI Adam Foley is a strong lead, who gets himself in a very sticky situation. Wife, Alex, heavily pregnant, as a lawyer, features strongly in her own right.

As an audiobook this really works - for those of us who haven’t followed the series, we are helpfully giving a recce of the characters from the get go which is both helpful and novel.

The story is interjected with podcasts which are narrated superbly and again just makes the whole book feel really sleek, thoughtfully put together, and very special!

My Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Audio and Cara Hunter for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review

I’m a big fan of the DI Fawley Series and yes this could be read as a standalone but it is definitely worth reading the series in order as a lot of the storyline can carry over. I really like the fact if you have or haven’t read the others in the series you were given a quick introduction to the different characters. I was hooked from the first sentence. Loved the dual storylines and they were equally as intriguing as each other so one didn’t overpower the other. As always really likeable characters bar one or 2 but that goes without saying and adds to the story. Loved the narration and how the information was given to the listener. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin General UK for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook that will be published on the 29th of April.

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and Cara Hunter for providing a ACR for me in exchange to my honest review.
I indeed like DI Fawley Series very much. It is a truly excellent series. Cara Hunter is a genius writer and she has so much passion in writing thrilled books. She writes so well and her characters are wonderful. "The Whole Truth" is as creative and fresh as the first one. I am very impressed of Cara's unique writing style that she keeps currently involving social media, podcasts and WhatsApp messages in her books. In this book, the first storyline is about a sexual abuse complaint and the second one is murder case investigation. It is a very good police procedural crime novel with excellent characters and a twisty plot. The story at first though was a bit slow to come together but when it did, I was hooked. As previous mention, there are two plots running through. These parallel plots all being precisely set up, ready to go into sudden directions with many turns and twists as the story progresses. I was at the edge of my seat to see what come up with DI Fawley at the end.
All in all, this was a irresistible, gripping read with lots of suspense and thrill before the truth comes out. You definitely loves it and the twists would keep you guessing. I admitted it's a fantastic read and a worthy of 5 stars in that I highly recommended.

This is the fifth book in a series featuring Oxford based Detective Inspector Adam Fawley and his team. I hadn’t read the earlier books but rather helpfully this one kicked off with a brief introduction to Fawley and his crew – I wish other series of this type would follow this lead, what a good idea.

We are introduced to two cases here, but I’ll only provide brief outlines so as not to spoil the fun for future readers:

1. A promising postgraduate student accuses a high profile female professor of sexual assault.
2. A friend of Fawley’s heavily pregnant wife is brutally raped and murdered as, coincidentally, a man known as the Roadside Rapist is released from jail.

There’s good and bad for me in this type of British police procedural: the plot is often tangled and intriguing and the lead policeman is usually a complex character with a few skeletons in the cupboard, but you also have to battle through the team politics and personal life stories of a multitude of colleagues. I’ve been on this journey a few times with series I’ve stuck with for quite a while but I always seem to eventually tire of secondary characters. I guess my preference is for American (or Spanish, or Italian…) crime fiction tales where by and large the cast of crime solvers is much smaller.

Anyway, that small gripe aside I do have to say that this story did, for the most part, retain my interest and I also developed a liking for the lead detective. There are twists aplenty here (maybe even too many in one of the cases) as Fawley finds himself up to his neck in complications and having to rely heavily on his colleagues to carry the heavy load of investigative work. But my old fear of a large support team and of getting tangled up in the personal lives of (what were to me were) fringe characters did raise its head and I fear it also interrupted the flow of the tale somewhat.

Fans of the series will probably take a different view but I feel that the ‘surprises’ in one case were somewhat undone and their impact usurped by yet another twist – at least one too many – and the other case was pretty much telegraphed from the start, with simply the ‘how’ being left to figure out.

I listened to an audio version of this book which was expertly narrated by a trio of readers.

This is the first D I Fawley book I’ve read and I really enjoyed it. I was very thankful for the brief character outlines at the start of the book because this really added to my enjoyment and made it that I didn’t feel like I was playing catch up.

It was a really good procedural novel and I liked the interacting sub plots. I wasn’t personally a massive fan of the true crime podcast element but understand that this was completely crucial to the story development.

Another great book in this series, Caleb has accused his tutor of sexual assault, and DCI Folley is arrested for the murder of his wife’s friend. Another brilliant book in the series and I am looking forward to the next books.

Well, I’m very late to the party with Cara Hunter. Why have I missed the previous four books in this series? I’ve no idea, but I was blown away by The Whole Truth. I listened to the audio version long into the night and my only disappointment was when the story finished...but I note the next is due for publication in 2022, so there’s god news.

This is a crime thriller in a different league to most. The lead characters are a significant part of the plot and I’m looking forward to reading the earlier books to fully understand the characters and how they develop. So it’s very much character driven, borne out by the introduction which gives a neat overview of the main players. I felt I hit the ground running as the story launched. What a plot! It’s edge of your seat stuff as new facts emerge and the bones are laid bare. So many unexpected twists, it was hard to stop listening. The plotting is incredibly intricate and there’s real depth to the story, locus and the people. All human life is definitely here, warts and all and I absolutely devoured this. Narration throughout was excellent; clear voice and distinct characters. Intelligent crime fiction at its best.

Another amazing book from Cara Hunter. This is book 5 in the D.I Fawley series. For full enjoyment of the story I would read books 1-4 first. They are beyond amazing and the character development throughout each book really adds to the richness of book 5.

I don't want to talk about this book too much as I might giveaway the earlier books in the series. Without giving anything away, this is by far my favourite police/thriller series to read. I have yet to find a more engaging and impressive author than Cara Hunter. Her writing is amazing, her story writing fresh and her plot twists so amazing and unexpected they leave you spinning.

This was my first time listening to one of her books as an audiobook. I usually read her books in less than a day haha. The multiple narrators are a bit confusing at first but stick with it. it all sorts itself out and the different voices (particularly a specific narrator for D.I Fawley himself) really adds to the richness of the storytelling.

I cannot recommend this author and this series enough. I read the first four books in less than 4 days. Seriously, do yourself a favour and buy this book.

Absolutely brilliant! My best book of the year so far. The tension is palpable and the story line twists and turns like a serpent. Incredibly clever with a completely unexpected jaw dropping ending.

Although this was the first book in the series I has read, it was a great stand alone read and I will now be reading the other books in the series. and keeping an eye out for more from this author.

During this book DI Adam Fawley is called to investigate two very different cases. The first involves the sexual assault of a male student by his female professor. The second is a murder case that harks back to a case in Fawley's past where his wife was injured and the killer was caught, but is now out on license. Both stories were intriguing, woven together seamlessly, and made me want to carry on listening past my bedtime to find out what happened. I love Ms Hunters style of writing, where the narrative was interspersed with podcasts, emails and online news articles. The characters appear real and well fleshed out, and I really cared what happened to Adam, his wife and his team. The plot was twisty and this is a brilliant police procedural.

I listened to the first book in this series, but for some unfathomable reason hadn't listened to the others until this one. I'll be remedying that soon! Because of this I was very pleased that Cara Hunter included a Who's Who at the beginning of the book, which helped me remember all the major characters, and catch up with what had been happening. This makes it easier for anyone coming to the series with this book.

The narration by Lee Ingleby, Emma Cunnliffe and Roy McMillan was excellent.

This is the fifth Book in the D.I. Fawley series. An Oxford university student accuses the professor of sexual assault and DI Adam Fawley and team are called in to investigate. It’s are unique story because usually sexual assaults in books are by men and in this book the predator is a highly respected professor at the top of her game and the victim is a strapping 6 foot tall rugby player. Fawley and his team are up against the clock to solve this crime but at the same time people are watching him and trying to put an end to him and his team for good. The dual storylines are really really good and most of the characters were well rounded and a joy to read. The characters I didn’t like add interest to the book. I’m a big fan of the series and this book was as good if not better than all the rest. I actually enjoyed it more on audio which almost never happens. It can be read as a standalone but you would be missing out if you did not read the whole series. Thank you to NetGalley for this great audiobook.

I have been invested in DI Adam Fawley and his team since the beginning, so was very excited to read this latest instalment. Cara Hunter just gets better and better. "The Whole Truth" begins with an introduction to the characters - both useful as a recap and for newbies. I listened to the audiobook, narrated well by Lee Ingleby, Emma Cunniffe and Roy McMillan.

I've always loved Hunter's innovative format, where we get to see things like Press reports and social media reactions, and this time we have a podcast included too! One of the cases the team investigate in this book subverts our expectations of sexual assault and then ties us up in knots. It was particularly interesting to see how Hunter portrayed different officers' reactions to it. She isn't afraid to show us flawed coppers (I'm looking at you, Quinn!) or their human side. Another brilliant offering and, as always, I can't wait to read the next book in this excellent series.

The Whole Truth is the latest addition to the brilliant Cara Hunter’s series and it doesn’t disappoint. Well written, fast paced, twisty and suspenseful, it is one of the best in the police procedural genre. I really like the idea of the Who is Who reminder at the beginning - it helps to refresh the memory, if it’s been awhile since you’ve read the other books in the series.
I can’t wait for the next instalment.
I listened to some of the book on audio and the narration was excellent, performed by 3 different voices.

This was a great read with a well thought-out and clever plot! This is the 5th book in the detective Fawley series, but you can definitely read this as a stand alone book. I’ve not read/listened to any of the previous books so I was pleased that there was an overview of the main characters at the start. I did sometimes get a bit lost with the characters as there are quite a lot but I managed to follow the story and the more I listened the more I became familiar with them all. I was gripped by the storylines, the first main one being that of a male student accusing his female professor of misconduct and the second is the release of a rapist from prison, we learn about the back story of this through pod casts which were really effective especially when listening to the book. The rapist was convicted by detective Fawley and he said he would get revenge on Fawley when he was released from prison. This is the first crime/detective book I’ve listened to/read and I am certainly going to be going back to read the previous books in this series. It was full
Of twists and red herrings. I did find some of It predictable but I feel that was intentional, and then other parts of the story I was completely thrown by. The narration was well done and made it easy to listen to. I would definitely recommend this audiobook.

I loved this book and the audio. It’s an exciting thriller with lots of stories going on within the main story of a woman’s murder so it’s non stop. The only issue with the audio was as there are a lot of areas where there are text messages or tweets being read this can get a bit annoying on an audio but it doesn’t ruin anything. I really enjoyed the mix of narrators in this as well.

I’m a fan of this series and when the opportunity arose to listen to it on audiobook, I grabbed it. Readers of this series will know that Cara Hunter uses social media, e-mails, TV reports, newspaper headlines and reports to underline parts of her stories and I wasn’t sure how this would translate to the listening experience. I need not have worried. In fact this aspect works really well and helps to make it a really good listen.

I really enjoy this series. As with the best of all such series, it is the fact that you can connect with the characters, understand their vulnerabilities and enjoy the interactions with their teams that makes them feel like people you know. And in case you’ve forgotten any of them, Cara Hunter provides a very useful run down of the key characters at the beginning of this story.

As the book opens, Alex Fawley is heavily pregnant and somewhat uncomfortable as she awaits the imminent arrival of their baby. It’s a difficult time for them both, having lost a child – their ten year old son, Jake – in very sad circumstances a few years earlier. DI Adam Fawley is doing all he can to support his wife, but as it transpires, that’s not going to be easy because their past is about to rise up and bite them – hard.

But before that happens Alex has an unusual case to deal with. There’s been an accusation of sexual assault at Oxford University. This accusation is from a student against a Professor, and a high profile Professor at that. One who draws a great deal of business support towards her College. The complainant is a male student.

Caleb Morgan, is no wallflower. He’s a six foot well-built lad with a steady girlfriend and he is claiming that Professor Marina Fisher sexually assaulted him when she returned from a College dinner and he was in her home, babysitting her son. Morgan’s mother is an MP, so the team are faced with 2 high profile antagonists and they have to work out which one is telling the truth. It’s a beautifully presented case of ‘he said: she said’ and Cara Hunter does an amazing job of keeping the reader on edge not knowing who is the unreliable narrator as the evidence does not help them one iota. You really feel for DC Gareth Quinn, just demoted after getting involved with a suspect and now put in charge of this case in the absence, on holiday, of DS Chris Gislingham.

Then a friend of Alex Fawley’s is found murdered on the railway tracks; initially thought to be a suicide, she has been brutally raped. This happens just as Gavin Parrie, the Roadside Rapist is released from jail on licence. Alex Fawley has been listening secretly to the true crime podcast, The Whole Truth, which campaigns on miscarriages of justice. The Whole Truth is supporting Parrie’s claim that he is innocent, and is examining all aspects of the case in the podcast.

Suddenly, Adam’s life goes into meltdown. Not only is Alex about to give birth at a difficult age (she’s 44), but now evidence has been uncovered that seems to suggest Adam could be implicated in the young woman’s murder.

Cara Hunter really does flesh out all her characters very well and as a result you feel invested in them and their welfare. She really does highlight the interdependency of the team and I enjoy getting to know them, their partners and learning about their lives inside and out the police station.

In this book, we know at least who Adam can rely on, and that’s clearly not everyone involved in investigating the murder. As things start to look very bleak indeed, Adam believed he’s being set up, but with no way of proving it, the tension is mounting as things start to get very heated.

The Whole Truth intertwines these two main storylines really well; keeping our interest and at the same time challenging stereotypes and making us uncertain of who to believe. It’s brilliantly executed, nicely twisty and keeps the reader on the hook all the way through.

Verdict: This is a great addition to the series. Hunter does a terrific job in raising interesting and intelligent topical questions that really make you think in the context of a twisty and often surprising storyline that is pacy and holds the attention in a vice-like grip. The narration is excellent and very clear. Highly recommended.

This was a really good listen and story. I loved the way the two narrators interacted with each other. The ending was brilliant.

This story was the first in the series that I have read (coming in late) but very intriguing and really do want to know more so off to investigate.

I will also be looking for more by these narrators.

I was given a copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

What can I say... Loved this book. Hooked from the start. It was the first of Cara Hunter's D.I. Adam Fawley series that I have read. It was a great fast paced police procedural thriller.

In the book there are two simultaneous storylines. D.I Adam Fawley is called to a case of a student, Caleb, a son of local MP, who alleges he was sexually assulted by his professor, a well renowned professor in her field. Meanwhile the roadside rapist is released from prison on parole and D.I. Adam Fawley was the person who put him away and he vowed revenge on him for this. D.I Fawleys wife Alex, heavily pregnant, was a previous victim of his and his release is affecting her badly. Then her friend is found dead and an investigation begins.

I liked the way this book started with a recap of the main characters and series as this allowed it to be read as a standalone or part of the series.

The character descriptions were very detailed allowing differing aspects of each personality to be brought out.

The role reversal gave a different edge to the story however it did sometimes feel like there was an underlying current of woman couldn't be successful unless they used their looks for promotion.

I loved the way mixed media was used; the podcasts, emails, messages and newspaper articles; as it gave different stances on the evidence. I listened to the audio book first and found it easy to follow and then read the book.

Amazing plot twists in this fast paced thriller with surprises along the way and I didn't figure it out til the end. The epilogue was very good.

In the audio book the narration by Lee Ingleby, Emma Cunliffe and Roy McMillan was excellent with clear voices and distinct characters.

I would definitely recommend this book to others in both forms. I can't wait to seek out the other books in the series.

Thanks to Netgalley, Penguin Audio, Penguin General UK and Cara Hunter for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When an Oxford student accuses one of the university's professors of sexual assault, DI Adam Fawley's team think they have heard it all before - they are wrong. The professor is a woman and the student a 6-foot male rugby star.

DI Fawley and his team are up against the clock. They don’t realise someone is watching and they have a plan to put Fawley out of action for good.

This is a twist on the traditional sexual abuse claim with a male accusing a female of abuse. You never quite know who to believe and it provides an insight into just how difficult it must be to prove a claim like this when it’s one word against another. There is also a second storyline running through the book when Adam Fawley is accused of a crime.

This was an enjoyable twisty ride and the whole truth was revealed in the end! I did feel like the end was wrapped up rather quickly though.

Even though this is the 5th book in the “Adam Fawley” series The Whole Truth can definitely be read as a standalone novel. It even includes an introduction to the characters, giving you a little backstory from the very start.
This book is clever, for all the times I thought I’d predicted the story and it’s outcome I was always proved wrong. This definitely keeps the book interesting.
I was lucky enough to receive the audiobook version of this novel. The two storylines both narrated perfectly alongside each other

‘An attractive student. An older professor.
Think you know the story? Think again.’ - cover tag line.

My thanks to Penguin Random House U.K. Audio for a review copy via NetGalley of the unabridged audiobook edition of ‘The Whole Truth’ by Cara Hunter in exchange for an honest review. It was narrated by Lee Ingleby, Emma Cunniffe, and Roy McMillan and has a running time of 12 hours, 22 minutes at 1x speed.

This is the fifth in Hunter’s series of police procedurals featuring DI Fawley, set in Oxford. I appreciated that the book opened with a short ‘previously on the Fawley files’ that served as an introduction (or refresher) to the main characters.

Aside from the accusation referenced in the tag line above, there is another case involving a brutal murder that comes to the fore during the investigation. No further details to avoid spoilers but trust me it’s complex and very thrilling.

Each of the previous books in this series has been a five-star read for me and Hunter’s latest has again proved an outstanding crime thriller. I was pleased to be able to combine reading with listening to the audiobook edition. It was also useful to have three narrators as it brought a heightened sense of drama to the reading.

Lee Ingleby and Emma Cunniffe narrated the earlier books in this series and I have previously enjoyed Roy McMillan’s narration on a number of audiobooks in my library.

Overall, a totally riveting addition to this excellent series that had me glued to my settee for the duration. I can hardly wait for Book 6.

#TheWholeTruth by #CaraHunter continues the #diadamfawley series with this the fifth instalment. I had my favourite combination, both the ebook and audiobook thanks to Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! There are two storylines, the first sexual assault told from a totally different angle and the second explores the history with the main character and his wife’s attacker 18 years before. I love how the author has also developed the characters within the team. I’m totally invested.
So many twists and turns with neither story suffering in the telling of the other. If you love a twisty thriller that will keep you guessing thEn like me you’ll absolutely love this series. The books just keep getting better. I started this after work today and have done nothing else except read and listen. It’s an absolutely riveting read.

This was another strong addition to the Adam Fawley series, and very enjoyable.
The characters were explained at the start, which was extremely helpful in remembering who was who.
The several storylines were difficult at times to keep track of, but it added several great layers to the story and kept the reader engaged. I feel this was because I was listening to the audiobook version.
I loved the podcast side story, as I am a huge fan of them anyway and this was such a good addition to give a different perspective and reiterate the ongoing story.
The narrators were all brilliant, very easy to listen to and kept me engaged throughout.
