Thank you to Random House and Netgalley for this ARC of the latest in the Private series and what an addition to an amazing series. This story is fast paced and you are on the edge of your seat all the way through. It is the sort of book where, when you are reading it, you want to get back to the previous characters and then when you are reading about them, you want to be back with the others. 5 stars all the way.

Excellent book again following Jack Morgan of Private investigations full of intrigue and twists. Love the main character Beth as she struggles to keep her children safe.
Really enjoyed the story and finished it in one night as I could not put it down,
Would recommend to anyone even if you have not been following the other Private books.

This is a great follow on from Private Moscow. It started off with a bang and I thought this was a thrilling, action packed, fast paced read with so many cliff hanger chapter endings I was desperate to know what happened next. Jack Morgan and his team are all so likeable, as are Beth and her family who find themselves targeted by dubious characters and end up running for their lives. This is a very well written, engaging read that at times had the ‘wow’ factor and definitely hit the mark with me. I loved that a couple of characters from the previous book made a brief appearance in this one. Overall a great read that flowed really well and was hard to put down. It had everything I like, a great plot, twists galore and raced to a final conclusion with all loose ends tied up nicely. Looking forward to the next one.

Brilliant adventure with Jack and the Private agency involved in a seemingly simple missing persons case which turns out to be much more deadly. My favourite out of all the Private stories so far.

An excellent book that keeps you gripped from start to finish. The characters are well written and will keep you wanting more.

I think that I have to count amongst my biggest regrets the fact that when I started reading again in earnest a few years ago, I didn't rekindle my old obsession with action thrillers. I definitely regret not having found this series sooner as, two books out of sixteen in, I am hooked. Heck, I was there after Private Moscow, but if there was any doubt then Private Rogue has blown it to smithereens. Which is not a bad comparison given how this book starts. The grounding (understatement) of a team of US Special Forces operatives who have been sent to Afghanistan on a rescue mission then. ends in complete and utter devastation. Only one person survives and they well and truly have a target on their back.

High action, tense and with such urgency inherent in the text that if I had any belief I was in for an early night, that was also gone. I devoured this book in two sittings, getting over half way through in one evening before finally admitting that sleep might be good for my soul, if not my impatience to find out what was going on. But, tense as the opener was, it was only part of the story. The Private series is about a global team of private investigators after all and, best will in the world, they generally have bugger all to do with the Special Forces ops. So cut to Jack Morgan and his team who are engaged to find a missing family, a search which isas fraught with danger as a trip to the Afghan mountain ranges as it turns out.

Split between action in upstate New York and the inhospitable mountain ranges on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, the book absolutely gallops along. The writing is tight, the plot full of intrigue and pulse pounding moments that kept me completely invested in what I was reading and most definitely kept sleep at bay. The chapters are short, pacy, each one leaving readers with a kind of cliffhanger that makes it virtually impossible to ignore the 'one more chapter' call. And it really helps that the authors have created characters that you are completely invested in. Although, yes, this is about Jack Morgan and his team, I was completely invested in the lives and fates of the US pilot trapped and hunted in Afghanistan, and the mother and her two children who are being equally hunted back in the US. Although not immediately stated, the link between the two events is clear, even if the why of it is not.

I love the action. sequences, the pace, the energy and, more than anything, the characters. Jack and his team are memorable, occasionally quirky, full of humour, but dedicated and focused. There is none of the inherent sexism that perhaps dogged action thrillers of old, all characters, male and female, giving as good as they get. I do love Sci and Mo-Bot, two of Jack's top tech and science geeks, who bring a unique personality and a little less machismo to the story and are as important as the all action Jack given the nature of the threats. the team face. It's never about one person, even if Jack has the lion's share of the attention with many of the chapters told from his point of view. It's a team game and the respect that Jack has for those around him makes you believe in what they are doing. It certainly makes me want to read more.

Fast paced, edge of the seat action, emotionally driven story laced with a very generous helping of corruption and espionage. The kind of brilliant storytelling that makes me power to the last page. Everything I look for in my action thrillers and I am one very happy reader. Loved it.

Jack is contacted by Donald Singer and begged to find his daughter, Beth, and grandchildren who went missing the day before in upstate New York. At the same time a marine pilot is shot down in Afghanistan and while he escapes the crash he soon finds himself pursued by Russian mercenaries. Jack ends up back in Afghanistan to save Beth.

I thoroughly enjoyed Private Rogue, which is an action packed thriller with an international setting and an interesting motive. The narrative is split three ways between the pilot in Afghanistan and his efforts to evade capture, Beth and her efforts to evade capture in New York and Jack’s efforts to save them all and work out what is worth killing for.

The novel is very evenly paced as it’s high octane, tense and thrilling throughout. It does require a certain suspension of disbelief as the characters not only escape certain death on several occasions but have the nous to fight back, but then, that’s vintage Patterson. Why let a little reality get in the way of constant thrills and spills? On the other hand, Russian mercenaries and spies running an operation against Americans is not as outlandish a proposition as it might have been 10 years ago. I’m not going to pretend that I understand the science underpinning the motive, don’t know if it’s possible and don’t really care, but I can grasp the importance of it. Thank goodness the reveal doesn’t come until near the end of the novel and the authors don’t dwell on it.a brief mention is enough so that it doesn’t detract or distract from the general mayhem.

I think Mr Patterson has upped his game by collaborating with Mr Hamdy. The series seems more mature and readable in his hands. I like the prose and the smooth way the novel segues from one voice to another. It makes for an all round better read that is very immersive.

Private Rogue is a good read that I read in one sitting, so I have no hesitation in recommending it.

With James Patterson and Adam Hamdy as co-authors you know this is going to be a great read, and it doesn’t disappoint. Following on from Private Moscow, it shows Jack Morgan in a slightly different light to start with, coping with nearly dying, being in a hostile situation and realising his feelings for Justine, his right hand woman. He’s trying to stand back and not be so hands on until this case becomes more than a missing daughter. It’s fast paced, authentic and grabbed me from the first page. As with all of this series, it offers great characterisations, excellent research and a thoroughly gripping read. Roll on the next one. A definite recommendation.

A good addition to the private series.

I have found this series to wax and wane but this was a strong novel based around what would seem to be a simple missing person's case.

Another strong addition to the strong Private line-up. I recently read Private Moscow, which was my first Private book for a while but was instantly at home again with this one.
Consistent action and story/plot and some of the same old core of characters with a few additions thrown into the mix.
Overall can't really fault it as an action-thriller. You know what you're getting and it doesn't disappoint.

An original storyline that includes various victims, cross country settings and some unknown enemies. It shows the impact of corruption in politics and power in various settings. It keeps you guessing throughout as even the characters don't know why they've been targeted. I enjoyed this and I like the series but this particular story could be read without reading all the others first and be just as good a read. Short chapters as the usual easy read style of James Patterson.

James Patterson has done what he does best. Collaborate with a co author and produce a mighty fine book. A great addition to the Private series. Lots of twists and turns. A fast paced deeply engrossing book.

This, along with the previous book in the Private series, are written by James Patterson and Adam Hamdy, featuring Jack Morgan who runs the cutting edge global Private detective agency. This addition picks up from where the last one left off. Jack and Justine have rekindled their relationship, but he has still not gotten over the trauma of previous events, and has been taking a more management role in Los Angeles, rather than getting involved hands on in any case. This situation is about to change as he takes on what appears to be a straightforward case from a client, Donald Singer, a distraught father whose daughter, Beth, is missing, along with her two children, Danny and Maria, in upstate New York. An American special operations team undertake a secret mission in Nuristan, Afghanistan, which goes spectacularly wrong, resulting in almost everyone involved tragically being killed.

However, there is one survivor, the pilot Floyd, who manages to escape the Osprey crash site in the deadly frozen, wintry mountainous region of the Hindu Kush, only to find himself being hunted down by ruthless Russian mercenaries, who seem to want to capture him alive. Beth may be a mother now, but she is a ex-military woman, so when her vehicle is stopped by a couple of sinister looking police officers that do not look right, she escapes with her children, only to find a drone has followed them to their place, leaving her no choice but to go on the run to find a safe place to hide out in. However, whoever is hunting her down is well organised, dangerous, extremely well resourced and not going to give up. This is a fast paced, action packed thriller with short, snappy chapters, packed with oodles of suspense and tension. It is a gripping read, although you will have to suspend your sense of disbelief to fully enjoy the entertaining thrill ride. I have only read two books in the series, this and the previous one, but already I am enjoying the returning characters, such as Maureen Roth, aka Mo-bot, the ace computer geek, Seymour Kloppenberg, the chief criminologist, and particularly the Private Moscow duo of Danita Orlova and Leonid Boykov. This is for those of you who enjoy high octane thrillers and for other crime and mystery fans. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.

Adam Hamdy adds a great deal to this new Title in the Private series. The book does not disappoint taking the main characters further and testing them more - all in realistic ways. A must read for Patterson fans who if new to Adam Hamdy will certainly enjoy the additional depth so much in evidence in his own novels. Patterson keeps finding new partners to keep his books fresh and his series thrill a minute

Having read numerous books by James Patterson previously I was looking forward to the latest in a series I haven't really invested the time in up to now. The fact that it is co-authored by Adam Handy as well, made it an interesting choice so I was invested to see how it turned out.

Like some of Adam's books, there is a flow to the story that you think you know where it is going when all of a sudden it is flipped on the head and starts to go down another route. This is what makes the book work, as it's never good if as a reader you can predict halfway through what's going to happen next.

What starts off as a missing person, gets bigger and bigger, with the opponents becoming more and more sinister (don't want to say too much, as would like other readers to find out for themselves what happens).

Overall a good book with some good action scenes and thrills, if only let down slightly with an ending that seems to finish too quickly after the build up - granted this could be because I got to the last act of the book and didn't want to put it down as I couldn't wait to finish it! So if you like a book with thrills and chills, this si for you.

Private Rouge is book 16 - what?? I was really shocked when I saw that. The Private series featuring Jack Morgan is always a an action packed thrill ride and I always look forward to the next adventure. James Patterson never fails to hook me in and this was another of his books that I stayed up way too late to finish...no regrets. No secret that James Patterson is a favourite author of mine and always will be.

Jack's reputation is that of the best - and everybody wants the best.. Donald Singer is desperate to find his daughter and grandchildren and begs Jack to take on the job. They have gone missing and are in danger. Meanwhile, a marine pilot is shot down in Afghanistan and while he escapes the crash he soon discovers that he is being hunted by Russian mercenaries.

It is non stop action and I couldn't read it fast enough. Thanks so much to Random House UK for my advanced copy of this book to read.

Running alongside Jack's investigation, we read about a US helicopter shot down in Afghanistan - there is only one survivor, the pilot. Can he make it to safety, and how does his story tie into that of Jack's missing family?

I really enjoyed this Private story. Yet again James Paaterson gives us a fast paced, easy to read thriller, and I very much doubt we've seen the last of Jack and his team!

Time to clear your schedule for the afternoon, coffee pot on and phone turned off - you won’t want to put this one down. Jack Morgan is back in town!

I can’t believe after 15 previous “Private” escapades, James Patterson has yet again delivered with number 16 in the series; another sensational read which can be enjoyed as much by a “Private” newcomer as by a “Private” tragic - though I admit half way through “Rogue” I found I had missed “Moscow - yes, I’m reading that now! Jack Morgan and his team yet again keep us engaged in an enthralling adventure through both the wilds of Afghanistan and back in the US - I can’t wait for #17 to arrive. Definitely 5 stars for this one.

I am guaranteed a page turning read when I read a book from Patterson's Private series.

In this book Jack Morgan is hired to find a clients daughter and grandchildren. All the regular team are featured in this book including Justine, Mo, Sci and Jessie all of whom I find wonderfully written characters.

This story takes Jack back into a deadly showdown with Russians as well as him returning to Afghanistan.

I thought this was another gripping read from Patterson, and whilst I have found some of his other series a little predictable, Private remains as exciting as ever.

Jack is back! Anyone who follows this series won’t be disappointed, and neither will those who read the private series for the first time, as can be easily read as a stand alone book.

This is book sixteen in the Private series and I have read all fifteen previous books in sequential order and I think this is the best one by far.
Jack will need to face the trauma of his past to save a family's future.
The Private series features Jack Morgan, who runs the Private, a global detective agency. It was great that this book picks up straight from where we left off at the end of book fifteen and I was also pleased when Jack and Justine rekindled their relationship. Jack has to face demons from his past that he thought he had left behind so even though he is still involved with the agency, has taken on more of a behind the scenes roll and is spending less time in the field. This changes though when he decides to help a client. Donald Singer is a distraught father whose daughter Beth, and her children, Danny and Maria go missing in upstate New York. Jack thinks that this is a straight forward missing persons case, but boy, is he wrong!
It’s an edge of your seat roller-coaster ride from start to finish. With cutting edge problems that are easy to believe that really could happen, but thankfully, the team at Private are more than capable of dealing with. The team have to travel the globe fighting more than just 1 enemy and you don’t know who you can trust...
I stayed up way too late reading this book, the classic, just one more page / chapter as I was just so immersed in the storyline, the characters and the setting. I don’t mind admitting that it also might have something to do with James Patterson being one of my favourite authors too.
I highly recommend this spine tingling, fast paced thriller of a book to basically anyone who loves reading, and I can’t wait for book seventeen in the series.
