The story of Tempest and Leonard.
When Tempest loses her job because it is made redundant by software Leonard created, she accepts a bet from her friend to find him and get him to take her on a date. But on the way to try and hunt him down she meets Arty and starts to fall for him - what will she do when she realises who he really is.
Add in the family drama happening around them, and will they ever get a chance to be together?

A great read, looking forward to more from this author

Thanks for the advance copy of Betting on love in exchange for my honest review

I throughly enjoyed this book, if I could give it more stars I would because 5 stars aren’t enough
This book was witty and extremely hard to put down, I was even dreaming of what would happen next, it was a very easy book to follow and to lose yourself in the book, it had a lot of emotions, sometimes i even felt that i was sitting on the edge asking will they or wont they?

Mary Beesley is new to me and I already want to find more of her, but it seems she is just beginning to release her books. I loved Tempest and Leonard and their realistic personalities, fears, frustrations and developing love life! Their conversation is witty, funny, sarcastic, heart-breaking and charming.

As a general rule, I do not read stories about billionaires because they do not seem realistic. Yet, Leo/Ardy was so down to earth and casual. Tempest was adorable, loyal, forgiving and self-reflective. So, these two hit it off spontaneously, yet, did not jump into bed within the first three days or even first three hours of meeting. In addition, there was plenty of sexual tension and a bit of faith.

You will love this unique look at betting and romance! I cannot wait for more of Beesley’s books!!!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Wild Rose Press, Inc for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a new author for me. I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh. Talk about convoluted. LOL Ok its probably not realistic in many ways, and I am sure that some will say they should have slept together sooner. Tempest I am sure felt she was never going to get a break. Also the bet scenario was a bit lame but overall still a fun book. 3.5 stars. I would recommend this book to romance readers, and I would read this author again.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and that they were not completely the typical rom-com leads. Tempest is tall (unlike the typical rom-com heroines who tend to be petite), although she is tall and thin like a model. Leonard is described as being a normal looking guy with thinning hair, which is a refreshing change from the typical male model male lead. The twist regarding their families was pretty predictable, but maybe that was intentional? I didn’t really appreciate when during one of Leonard’s sections that he thinks about how little he finds Tempest’s sister attractive, which makes it sound like he finds her post partum body unappealing. That’s a bit disappointing and makes him seem shallow.
I appreciated that Tempest was the one who initiated things towards the end. It seemed just a little abrupt after the buildup through the book. I found the setting being in Texas interesting, although for the most part, the book could been set anywhere. I also thought the mentions of religion interesting and not overbearing. That’s very unusual for a rom-com, especially one with sexual content (although not super graphic content).
One thing I have to mention, although my opinion here will probably make no difference……the cover just does disservice to the book. It looks like something self-published. It doesn’t even really make sense after reading the book.
Overall I had fun reading this book and would consider reading something else by this author.

One of my favourite tropes enemies to lovers! So I knew I had to read this one!

This book starts off with a bet by Tempest and her friend Blair. Tempest has to go on a date with the billionaire responsible for creating a software program that made her recently loose her job........All sorts of mishaps happen and it was such an easy fun read!

This book is well written, hilarious and sweet. I had moments where I was genuinely laughing. I really enjoyed the main characters dialogue with each other.

3.5 stars
Some of the plot was a bit predictable and rushed at times.
More of personal preference but there was no steamy scenes! The characters had great chemistry but hardly ever even kissed. If you are someone who doesn’t like steamy romcoms you’ll probably really enjoy this!

Overall Betting on Love is an enjoyable, light book and a good RomCom!

I enjoyed this book. Would recommend this book to someone who wants to have light romantic novelette. It was fast paced. Of course, there are some some weak points like the bet, the procrastination and the coincidences, But guess thats what adds to the humour factor to this book.

This book was a mess, but I swear I mean it in the nicest way possible. There were so many tropes and cliches all over the place that it gave me whiplash, but with that being said, it was a page turner for sure. As much as I found myself rolling my eyes and questioning what it was I was reading, I really did enjoy it.

I feel like the summary doesn't adequately describe what this book is truly about. I mean, the bet only takes up maybe the first 20% of the book, and everything else is just a whole different plot.

~~~SPOILERS AHEAD~~~
I gotta say, I wasn't the biggest fan of Tempest. Her attitude towards work didn't make sense to me. She turned down one job offer that would have been perfect for her skillet because she didn't feel they could see her worth, but then turned around and started working for a catering company (which has nothing to do with her skilled training). Then there's the whole declaration of love. Tempest knew Leo for 4 months. For half of that, she hated him. The other half, she actively avoided him. So I'm so confused about how she suddenly just loves him? And how she's able to tell him so? It's weird, and she's the reason I didn't rate this higher.
This book was definitely a ride... I enjoyed it, but I swear I got whiplash from the amount of random twists this threw in. Seriously, there wasn't much more that could've happened.
That may sound discouraging, but it isn't! The randomness made it fun, and this definitely wasn't repetitive. I was a bit disappointed by how un-romancey this was. I expected something that was mainly romance, and instead the characters spent 3/4 of the book avoiding each other. I wanted enemies to lovers, which this kind of fulfilled, but it was a bit lacking.
With that being said, I did enjoy the relationship between Tempest and Leo. Their (few) interactions were super entertaining! I didn't love the way Tempest acted as a relationship partner, she was slightly irrational, but I enjoyed this enough to ignore that.
Although this definitely had issues, it was a super fun book! Everything that could've happened, did. I did find the ending a bit rushed, and this could've been 100 pages longer, but oh well.
Short but sweeeeeet. Tempest in really a storm that after losing a job get involved in an accident with Leo who is the reason why she lost the job. They got somehow involved but a misunderataning comes and complicate their story. Then happen so many things but it is not right to tell all. But itvis a funny read anyway. Perfect beach read. I would say it is worth to risk.
this was such a lovely, bewitching story. the description itself sounded very interesting, so i expected to like it, but i didn’t expect to be completely charmed by it. i was engaged in the story since the first few pages and consumed this story in only few hours. at one point i wasn’t sure if i will like where the plot was going (leo’s identity was discovered quiet quickly and the story changed the expected course a little) but i did, very much. i really adored tempest and leo, i think their dynamic was amazing and they really fit well together. i know that some people felt like the story was a little dragged, because at 90% of the book they kissed only once, but this actually made me enjoy the story even more; i love slow-burn and long, painful mutual pining is definitely one of my favourite parts of romance.
besides tempest and leo, i also really liked other characters in this book and was entertained by all their scenes. blair was incredible, i would love her to my friend, and christopher and silvia’s relationship was very heart-warming and sweet.
overall, this was a great story with interesting, likeable characters and cute romance. 4 stars.
I enjoyed this book. Though it was kind of a predictable rom-com with the slow burn and happy ending and everything, it was such an enjoyable read. I literally laughed out loud many times. I particularly enjoyed their sarcastic banter😄😄 If you’re up for some light and breezy read with nothing complicated, this is a book to read😊
This is 3.5 stars rounded down.
The fact that literally my first status update for this book is 'what the f*ck', should tell you something about this book.
This book. I'm still shaking my head.
Oh God, where do I start?
Okay, one step at a time, let's start with the romance.
No. Just, no. God, the romance was just not my thing? First of all, these two have like zero control over their lust, making this book replace lust with love on every single front. I'm thinking that maybe I should make a shelf named 'it's-called-love-not-lust', or 'lust-not-equal-to-love' or something to that effect, just to make you understand what a pain this book ended up to be.
Honestly, the way it started, and from the synopsis, I expected this too be a run of the mill rom-com, complete with secret identity, lost job attributed to love interest who is not known yet, etc etc, but this thing just went out of this world with a is-it-incest-or-not subplot thrown in, complete with two characters who don't even spend a lot of time together but are definitely already in love (that was supposed to be sarcastic, but I can't bring myself to fix it right now)
That is not to say that this book wasn't enjoyable, it was just too much for me. There's a reason I have a shelf named crack-fic. The only saving grace for this book was that it was short, and that the romance, while definitely not with substance, was entertaining in a lot of places. I just don't want to question about how weird incest is. That's it.
Their relationship wasn't really based in anything? Like this whole thing was just on fast forward. Why would a millionaire/billionaire/whatever invite a woman into his house, then treat her to dinner and call it a date, and then a week after that they can't live without each other? (I am aware that the sentence does not make sense, I just started with one thought and ended it with a completely different one)
And while I was still onboard with this, it just started getting too much for me when we had the Thanksgiving. So, I think I would have really enjoyed this book, and I did mostly, but as a romance this was just too lacking. The forced proximity was well done, but like whenever we would be making progress with the romance, it would instantly turn into 'we can't do this', and I'm like please decide what you want and stick to it.
On the whole, definitely an entertaining read, but perhaps just not for me. I recommend to anyone looking for a short and funny rom-com, does not mind surprising plot twists that are out of this world, and a romance which doesn't have a lot of base to build upon. If you're not looking for anything too serious, then this is for you.
⭐⭐⭐
I really had high expectations on this book like seriously I devoured the other book by this author It's To Unite a Realm by Mary Beesley .. it's a 5 Star... If you an good proper romance try it . It was so good.. it had love and list but there was very clear barrier they made love and it ft so good to read very unlikely to this book
Oh my!! What do I say... I didn't like this story.. like seriously what the heck was that.. I wasted so much of my time reading this
Shuu... There was lust .. lust and yes they did love eachother
But I don't know how to explain this
I hate sex before marriage and lusty thoughts
I don't want to ruin by giving away spoilers but it's just I can't handle my diasspointment
The only only thing I appreciate in this book was the how real the Hero is expect for the billionaire part,
His hair was thining, wasn't a super great body builder but fine body .. it felt real to fall in love with real-life ppl
I .. don't like this book.. but if modern day romance and sex before marriage can be handled by you and also it goes against many stereotypes .. so Go with warning
It's just not my cup of tea
Ah...uh... This book was clearly something I wasn't expecting...?
Should there be a different tag for almost incestuous relationships? (I don't know. The line between step-siblings' romance is pretty blurry? I do find it weird though.)
After overcoming that hurdle the book was pleasant though I should mention that the attraction between characters was based on lust rather than love.
Speaking of characters, I really adored Leo. Compared to "alpha males" in most romance stories, he seemed like a pretty normal guy. He wasn't built like a tank or had a head full of hair. That was good to see. He had his quirks which I could relate to. He could've been my favorite overall if it wasn't for the fact that he (without realizing?) body-shamed Jo for her post-baby body.
Tempest. Firstly, what a beautiful name! I loved her chemistry with her best friend, Blair. Their nicknames for one another were adorable. (I wish there was a backstory on how they got those names? I mean yes, I could figure out why it was Stormie and Sticks. But you knowwww?) I wish she had the same chemistry with Leo.
Overall, I found the scenes quite jumpy, quickly rushing through days, weeks, and months but it was an easy read.
Rating 3/5
What a fun, summer read! I was immediately pulled into this book and drawn into the characters. From Tempest, to Blair, Leo, Arty, Dean, Jo - they all were relatable and well-developed. I laughed and I cried reading this book, and I struggled to put it down at night. I will be looking for more by Mary Beesley!
