A different type of book from James Patterson usual fare, but still a great read.

The day started out like any other day for Tennant and her little sister Sophie but then the noise came. Their world will never the same again and then the people came that tried to take everything away.
A special group of individuals have been gathered and brought out to see what caused the anomaly but what the team finds makes no sense.
Dr Martha Chan can’t understand what has happened to the village but she knows something is very wrong and when the girls are found & taken away. She knows that she needs to find answers before something else happens. Harbin & Martha start digging further into the anomaly and what they find is terrifying as they doesn’t seem to be a way to stop it from continuing. Can Sophie help them stop what is happening or will she turn against them? A good solid read pretty frightening knowing that man can do so much harm. I was lucky enough to receive a copy from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. Martha kicked ass throughout the whole book

For a first reading of JD Barker, I would read other books he has released.
As for the story, I won’t give anything away except there are plenty of twists and the ending has left so many unanswered questions and makes you think “what if?”. The book is seen from the different characters perspective which makes you relate to them and understand their actions. I can see there potentially being a book 2 in this series. What an amazing shocking piece of writing! I simply couldn’t put it down, I was completely immersed! With all the conspiracy theories about the pandemic this was quite scary.

An outstanding read The story is written so cleverly the the reader becomes completely immersed in the pace, rhythm and emotion of this roller coaster of a tale. The focus of the story is fascinating, so close to reality yet inconceivable. It is thought provoking and intriguing with the reader wanting to contribute ideas to solve the dilemma. The denouement is a little lacking despite the twist, possibly due to the tension and engagement of the rest but it doesn't really disappoint

The Noise follows two sisters as the only survivors of a massive explosion. Nobody understands how they survived, until Dr Martha Chan and Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Fraser find clues to figure out why... but will they get more than they bargained for?

Another solid standout by James Patterson and J.D. Barker.... what a story! It was absolutely insane and horrifying! In a very good way... totally recommended!

"The Noise" mixes thriller, science fiction and a touch of horror with great success. Unexpected turns and the desire to know more keep you hooked from start to finish. Being a fan of both writers, it was odd that I didn’t like the book. Definitely recommended.

As you would expect from an author of this calibre, the book was brilliant. It starts straight in on the action, and the pace never once flags or slows, it never feels drawn out. The plot leaves you wondering the whole way through, as you never know which way it is going to go, and the authors were not scared to kill anyone off. A great read, a hard to put down roller-coaster that leaves you trying to catch your breath the whole way along.

A diverse group of experts are brought together to find out what is causing devastation across America. It all starts with a sound. Two sisters are somehow linked to the mass of people who must run until they can run no further.
Brilliant book with a unique plot. Great characters that are brought together to identify what is going on and try to find a way to stop it. Good luck with that. Enjoy.

Absolutely loved this! I am a Patterson fan anyway but this book is a bit different. I found the plot very intriguing and wasn't sure what would happen in the end.

This is something a bit different for James Patterson, and JD Barker makes a very good foil for him. Two girls, Tennant and Sophie, are orphaned when their village is destroyed. A really mixed team of experts are flown in to see why only these two survived, but then similar problems start being reported in the surrounding area. And then there’s the noise.

This really did hook me from the first page, wondering where this was going to go, and being desperate to find out. I read this book very quickly and at certain points I felt that if this was a film, I’d definitely have my eyes closed. It feels like a horror story but frighteningly it also really feels possible. Excellent read.

As someone who suffers tinnitus, I will now, forever, be haunted by The Noise.

Imagine a sound, a thrum, a hum so powerful you don’t just hear it, but feel it. You feel it deep in your body as though your very cells are generating the sound. That sound is compelling you to do something, something that could kill you or kill everybody you care about.

This novel reminded me of a Stephen King story. Very creepy and at times you feel empty at the pit of your stomach as you begin to develop and understanding of what happens to those who hear the noise. It is very much reminiscent of Stephen King's The Cell. That being said it is its own book and can stand on its own feet without the King comparison.

I was particularly drawn to the characters of Martha the civilian and her military foil Fraser. I would have very much liked to see this book from solely their POV as their relationship amped up the novels tension for me. Can they find a way to solve the problem when they cant work together? can the military and the scientists put aside differences like freedom of information vs rigid structure of 'need to know' to save the country?
I also enjoyed the character of Tennant, although, I don't think her POV was utilized in a way that added anything interesting or exciting for me as a reader. I felt her purpose was to connect me with her sister Sophie which fell a little flat, I felt for Sophie without needing to know how much her sister wanted to take care of her.

The Noise is a very fun and fast paced thriller. I honestly could not put it down and finished it over two days. Patterson and Barker have written an unputdownable book that will keep thriller audiences enthralled from the opening chapter.

Another sure fire hit for James Patterson.

As an avid James Patterson fan I was really intrigued by the story of The Noise. It was so different from anything else he has written and I can definitely see the JD Barker brain at work. A great combination of writers and I couldn’t tear myself away from it.

The Noise is a terrifying, dark and very unsettling read. I think it would make a great movie. You will not believe what is happening and it will shock you. 2 young girls, Sophie and Tennant, are the lone survivors of a massive explosion that wipes out their small community. Sophie is not the girl she was before it and it is scaring her sister. Experts are flown in from all over the country to find out what happened, why and to stop it happening again.

My first time reading a Patterson, and from what I know this partnership with JD Barker isn't typical of him - but damn it's a blast! A real page turner, that really grips and holds your attention. It's a real thriller with slight horror undertone and it speeds along - a great book.

Tennant and Sophie Riggin are fourth generation survivalists in the Oregon Woods near Mount Hood, all are totally unconcerned about the outside world. Suddenly, out of nowhere apparently, there are terrible piercing screams and later an unbearable noise. Their parents rush to put the girls in a storm shelter for safety. When the noise subsides they leave the shelter, their village is destroyed, there’s no one alive save them and Zeke the dog. Sophie in particular will never ever be the same again. A group of experts from a wide range of specialist fields are gathered in Oregon at Zigzag Station, these include Dr Martha Chan and Sanford Harbin, tasked with trying to decipher what causes the shocking and spreading anomaly.

Wow.... this is a wow for me from start to finish. You are in a state of suspense from the startling beginning to the finale as you desperately try to figure out what on earth is going on, just as Martha et al are! It’s exciting, frightening, jet black dark, twisty, twisted, tragic, a rollercoaster and utterly gripping. I think I probably read this entire thing open mouthed which is hardly a pretty sight! Although the plot is probably ‘out there’ who knows? Who knows what lurks in some dark minds of some agencies or scientists? The fact is, we don’t! The way it is written makes it feel like it’s possible so I just go with the rapid flow. The pace is fast, in places it’s so fast your poor brain struggles to keep up but you can’t stop reading as events become more and more dangerous and complex. It grips you fast, hooks you as you try to figure out the who, what, where, when, hows and whys of it all. There are some atmospheric descriptions and stunning images (some graphic) which are probably burned onto my brain forever as the team race against time to stop the spreading phenomenon. It’s spooky, creepy, spine tingling, chilling, makes your eyes bleed and you want to run miles and miles in the opposite direction. I really like the ending, it’s horrifying but it matches the events, anything neatly tied up won’t work and would be an unrealistic cop out. It’s a great mash of genres, it’s an excellent thriller, it has science and medical elements and it certainly has a political slant. I like the short, sharp, speedy chapters that match the high octane action. Be prepared for a big sit down with this one as your eyes will not wish to be drawn from the pages.

Overall, it’s five star all the way for me!!

Perfect beach read!

In a scenario straight out of “The Andromeda Strain”, a team of scientists is assembled and sent to Oregon on the Pacific Northwest to investigate a tornado-like disaster, and the disappearance of hundreds of people. They discover only two young girls have survived - Sophie and Tennant Riggin, both suffering from some sort of mania.

And with that we’re straight into a fast-moving, highly-charged rollercoaster, following Dr Martha Chan, a psychologist and Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Fraser, a career soldier, as they try to discover the cause of the disaster. We’ve got a mixed bag of characters, including scientists, CIA-like spooks, the Vatican, and survivalists. None are fully three-dimensional, and several are discarded along the way, but in this book, it doesn’t matter. The paces never lets up, as the team uncover mystery upon mystery, and learn what they are up against.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to admit I have an on-off relationship with James Patterson. I was introduced to him through the Alex Cross books, which I love. Not so much the Womens Murder Club. Several of his stand-alone novels are on my regular re-read list, including “Zoo” but I’ve never picked up one of his collaboration books, so I went into “The Noise” with an amount of trepidation.

I shouldn’t have worried. This is a fine thriller, with all the pace, surprise and red-herrings you need for a beach read. Whether this has to do with JD Barker’s input (check out “The Fourth Monkey”), I’m not sure, but regardless, this is something good. The text is descriptive, dark and graphic in places. The narrative moves along well enough, and the tense relationship that exists between Chan and Fraser fairly fizzles, although some of the other characters could do with further development. The final dénouement was, actually, not what I expected, which is good.

For fans of Michael Crichton, early Dean Koontz and James Rollins. Definitely recommend.

This book starts in Oregano where two girls from a survivalist village are out checking rabbit traps. Their is a piercing noise, like a scream that gets louder and louder. Their poppa but them in the storm basement... but when they emerge, the only survivor- aside from Sophie and Tennant- is Zeke the dog. The scene is confusing. Most of the people have disappeared but there are evidence some have been squashed or crushed. A specialist team is called in to find out what happened consisting of a range of specialists including Dr Martha Chan. When another event happens elsewhere, everyone is scared as no one knows what is going on. The bodies that are left behind are getting hotter after death but have no trace of infection... its a race against time to find out what is happening. Sophie is forever changed and saying very little aside from Anna Shimm... but who or what is Anna Shimm??

This is the first book I've read by either of these authors but really enjoyed it. Its got a good pace and I had no idea what was happening! The ending blew my mind... I first thought it was a bit complicated and unrealistic but on reflection, who is to say!! There are plenty of twists and turns to be had and I don't think this is an ending you coukd see coming. The chapters are short so I found myself zooming through the book as I'd tell myself 'just one more chapter' and before I knew it, I'd finished despite this being a fairly long read of over 400 pages.

There were a couple of things that stopped this being a 5 star read for me. I never like book with detailed description of animal suffering and the description of screaming rabbits wasn't something I liked at all. Also, Martha is a primary character and over the course of the book we find she has honesty and integrity but I don't really like gopher. I didn't get any sense of connection to any of these people. With Martha we are told a few times that she is missing her kids but it feels shoe horned in to tell the reader she is a great mom with no real evidence to back this up. But these things are minor things and don't take away from the fact this is a really great book with really interesting plot. It definitely has a Stephen King feel about it.

It is seldom and virtually never for a fictional work that I am forced, by the sheer quality of the plot, to offer 5 Stars and The Noise is such an exception. A 100% original plot filled with human beings who contrive to deal with The Noise. The mix of human reaction and military order(s) builds tension. Combined with the progress of The Noise problem makes a totally believable story.

Enough said, apart from buy this book and be engrossed.

From the very start this book had me. When two young sisters survive what, at first seems like an odd freak storm, things quickly take a turn. Suddenly we have an elite team of scientists thrown together to investigate the anomaly of the storm. The scientists are thrown together with the military, and clashes ensue. But before long, civilians vs military quickly becomes the least of the worries. When the anomaly starts to reoccur, at a frequent pace, spreading, rapidly speeding up, everyone quickly has to learn to work together. Just what is this noise? How is it spreading? Why is it causing such devastation? Is it an attack by another global super power? Why a noise? Why the destruction??

As I raced through the pages, keeping pace with the devastation being leveled across the country, I was gripped by this read. It was James Pattison at his finest, with J.D. Barker at his side, they took us for a rollercoaster ride, where we were screaming to get off. This book was disturbing, enthralling, and had me glued to my seat - I devoured it in one sitting. I was kept guessing until the end, and when I got there - I never saw that coming!

As a James Patterson fan I was expecting the usual good page turner but this is a bit different! Plenty of action, good characters, vivid descriptions, but it’s the science that makes this book. Science that makes you think. A plot that is highly improbable, but not impossible. A very intriguing, credible if somewhat disturbing story, an excellent read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
The pace is relentless which makes it very difficult to put down, if I were a quicker reader I would certainly have finished it in one sitting.
The plot is a cross between science fiction and a thriller, not dissimilar to a Stephen King story which in my book is praise indeed. The story starts out in the back woods of North East America when a mysterious 'event' flattens and wipes out a survivalists village, leaving two children as the only survivors. A team of Government employees from several agencies, a group of scientists and the armed forces are sent to investigate. As the story unfolds all is not as it first seems and a race is on to stop it all happening again.

Not a massive James Patterson fan but this book had a different feel and was quite good. I thought the character were more than one dimensional and the story was interesting. So good I might even read another one !

A gripping and fascinating book. In a modern world where we have become both dependent on and blasé about technology and interconnectivity, this is a thought provoking story about how that connectivity could develop and how it could be abused by people with power and no morals.

I've read many James Patterson books and this was a bit of a departure but none the worse for that - it was unputdownable! Interesting concept, gripping, engaging characters. Highly recommended!

I do like James Patterson's other book but this is a stand alone novel. It starts off at a high pace and rarely lets off. The plot was actually terrifying and although it didn't turn sharply often it did go in directions that I didn't expect, which I really liked. The characters were interesting and I couldn't guess on how the story would end, even though I tried. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it.

What a different book ! Loved this book, started it on Friday and couldn’t put it down, couple of late nights later and finished it this morning . Just love James Patterson and they way he writes, keeps you wanting more with every book. This book is so different to the usual . Well recommend this book but be prepared for a story like no other , another excellent story line you won’t want to put down.

A gerat story offering so many twists and turns. You really don't know how anything is going to end up on this story. Impossible to put down!

I've read quite a few James Patterson books, not all, but have enjoyed what I have read. I am also a big fan of JD Barker. After having loved The Coast to Coast Murders, their first collaboration, I was mighty excited to get my hands on this, their second. And I have to say my expectations were not only met, but exceeded. No mean feat cos they were quite high.
So... we start with two children who are checking their traps. They live in a survivalist community, off the grid, self sufficient. Tennant, 16, is hunting rabbits, Sophie, her 6 year old sister, is along for the ride and to learn the skill. Both are alarmed when they hear and feel a vibration that builds in intensity. They are scooped up by their father and deposited in an underground storm shelter.
We then cut to a bunch of scientists who have been gathered together alongside some government official and forced to sign something way more important than the official secrets act before they are shown something shocking.
And that's pretty much all I am able to say here, the rest you really need to discover as the authors intend. As they deliver shock after shock that often chilled me to my core as I slowly started to discover what was really going on. As the agenda was revealed. Wowsers!
The tension is set high right from the off and ramps steadily up further as the book progresses. I spent the majority not really knowing what was really going on, or who or what was behind the shenanigans. Tidbits of information are released along the way to provide a bit of clarity and explanation until, yet again, another curve ball is thrown in to send it all off in a whole other direction, spiralling around until the truth is finally revealed at the end, or is it ?
It's a bit gruesome in places, occasionally rather graphic but it has to be this way and isn't done for sensational reasons. It's also very clever and I lost count of the times I sat back with a huge grin on my face as I discovered something rather exciting.
What was key for me was the fact that actually, it's all a bit too credible. Maybe not on the scale of the book, but some of the reveals along the way did leave me rather frightened in a trepidation kind of a way. It's all delivered at a right old clip of a pace which didn't really leave much room to breathe apart from when the author's slowed it down enough for the reader to take a well needed breath. Just enough of these for me to survive but not too many, so I was more on the same page as what some of the main characters were going through.
And the ending... sublime... you'll understand when you get there yourself...
All in all, a cracking read that crosses the genre divide between horror, sci-fi and thriller amongst others. Should suit fans of all or one. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Wow, what a roller coaster thriller this was! I'm a massive James Patterson fan so was thrilled to get a copy of this book jointly written with JD Barker via NetGalley and Random House.
A very original and unique story, I was hooked from the very beginning and just wanted to keep turning the page until I was finished.

I have to confess I haven’t actually read many James Patterson books, shocking I know, so I was not sure what to expect. The description of the book hooked me in and I have to say for the most part I was not disappointed. The general premise of the book is fantastic and both James Patterson’s and J.D. Barker’s writing style is fantastic. That said I found a few things that did ‘let it down’ in my opinion.

The use of character subheadings for chapters seemed to be a little redundant for the story. Since none of the book is in first person perspective. Sometimes I found myself forgetting whose chapter it was because the characters were at the same location. I was also worried for the dog but that was resolved and brought the score up to a solid 5!

All in all the book was extremely good, the plot was well thought out and believable throughout even with the science fiction elements. I will certainly look into more works by both authors although I am aware this is somewhat different to Patterson’s normal style. I would recommend for any sci-fi fan who is looking for a bit of realism with their sci-fi.

The Noise is very different to Patterson’s other novels and I really enjoyed the fast pace of the story’s development which adds to the suspense and drama of the book. The reader is totally immersed in the story. The premise of the book is both disturbing and shocking (and includes lots of blood and gore throughout) so I was hooked from the very first page!

An action-packed book with elements of fantasy, science fiction and horror, and the all-important shocking twists; the perfect book for any avid thriller reader!

Horrifying, Dark And Terrifying….
Horrifying, dark and terrifying in equal measure, a high octane thriller chiller from esteemed authors. Wholly engaging, compulsive, atmospheric and suspenseful and with a credible cast. Easily a one sitting, edge of seat read.

Wow!!. I was on the edge of my seat reading this!!. The thought of a strange, loud noise making people go crazy was really quite scarey!!. As per, James writes a gripping story that could almost be believable but not!!. I loved it and could not put it down,dreamed about it,thought about it when I couldn't read it as I bustled around the house!!. Highly recommend !!!

I spent the whole day reading.... I finished the book in one setting because I just couldn't put it down. That to me is the sign of a good thriller! This is a fast paced thriller - horror - science fiction story, in a way that reminded me a bit of another of Patterson's standalones, Zoo.
I always love James Patterson's books and this one did not disappoint! I feel I can't say much about the story without spoilers, but what an ending... We all run...

Another great book by Patterson and a great partnership with Barker. I have read practically all of Patterson’s books and this one is completely different to anything I have ever read by him.

I loved the change of genre, the horror was scary enough to make my mind wander when it’s quite but not enough to stop me sleeping.

Great likeable characters who were honest and believable.

Authentic and believable plot, told really well. In summary a tale to keep you awake at night, to invade your dreams and question what is real.

Recommended 4 stars from me.

Omg what did I just read.....this could be a reality or at the very least an episode from Star Trek in the not to distant future

A noise begins and Life for tennant and her sister will never be the same again as their father saves the by throwing them down a cellar .....but are they safe....

As a group of people are take by the military to a remote location they are given 2 hours to form opinions about the phenomenon but they are under military rule

Wow this story is frightening but on some level could very well happen

Brilliant characters and loved the shock ending

This is my first book I've read written by both authors, James Patterson and J.D. Barker and it was certainly no disappointment.
Unlike seemingly quite a few people, I liked the main characters a lot, they really tied the story altogether with the multiple P.O.Vs which I don't tend to be a huge fan of but it worked brilliantly here. I didn't know what I was expecting walking into this but it surely left me with the feeling of wanting to go running in the other direction. It had me feeling a rollercoaster of emotions; Sympathy, frustration, confusion and even a little sadness at times.

What was so enticing about this book was the fact that it keeps you on the edge of your seat, not being able to put it down because it keeps you second guessing what you think is going to happen - at least it did with me up until the very end. All so mysterious. The ending wasn't at all what I had expected but it was creepily amazing, one I'll for sure be coming back to.

Terror has a new sound and it comes from the darkest corners of James Patterson's imagination. This is a riveting, deeply unsettling thriller and an amalgam of the horror, sci-fi dystopia and thriller genres and it works impeccably well. The relationship and dynamic between the two sisters is one I loved and you find yourself rooting for them and cheering them on as they roam the strange world they now inhabit all alone. It's a fast-paced, chilling read and the authors capture the eeriness superbly with each chapter fraught with tension. I don't know how they do it but they constantly blindside you with new twists, turns and red herrings, something notable happens in every single chapter and it is a cracking read that easily takes over your mind and has you feverishly flipping the pages. Patterson's books don't exactly score highly on the scale of believability, but if you can just let that go then you are treated to a raucously good read. It's compulsive and I must admit reading right through the night as all of the hints had me desperate to find out what actually happened. The casual, clipped writing style and short, snappy chapters are second to none and the pair really know how to get you hook, line and sinker within a few pages. The Noise is a dark thriller that takes hold of the emotions, defies the senses and is like nothing you’ve ever read before. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent mix of thriller, horror and sci-fi. It's riveting, fast paced and highly entertaining.
I thoroughly enjoyed it as it kept me reading late in the night, a page turner I wasn't able to put down.
The authors are master storyteller, the plot flows and it's full of twists, the characters are interesting and well thought.
An excellent and highly entertaining story.

Excellent read and as usual James Patterson didn't disappoint. Quite disturbing at times about two sisters living in a remote village in Oregan who are the only survivors of an explosion. Partly horror and sci fi this book is definitely one to be recommended.

Wow this is way different from what you expect of James Patterson. The book dives almost straight in with the sisters Sophie and Tennant somehow surviving a cataclysmic event. Now, the question is how did they survive? But, also how do they stop it? Was this a force of nature or something else? The noise spreads, infecting all who come anywhere close to it. People running, trampling those who fall. People dying, their bodies going up in flames. Who will survive? This book will keep you guessing right to the very end.

Honestly, this book is so good!

I didn’t know what to expect but it hooked me straight in. It opens with so many unknowns and questions that you can’t put it down-hard to review without giving any spoilers but rest assured you will enjoy this supernatural thriller.

A wonderfully thrilling eerie read. It had me gripped from the beginning. The suspense continues throughout this book as you try to figure out what is happening. The characters are likeable. The writing is chilling and realistic. Plus the ending is pretty good.

Not my usual type of book - more on the science fiction side than fantasy, but I found this to be a really enjoyable read that I couldn't put down.

I liked the different character POVs. Beginning with Tennant and then moving to the doctor was a good segue as Tennant would have been too naive as to how the world works to explain what was happening.

I wasn't as keen on the ending. It wasn't what I was expecting, to be honest. And maybe that was the point, but that's probably my only real complaint about the book.

It had to start somewhere, like all disasters, and it will take everyone it can. Sixteen-year-old Tennant, and her eight-year-old sister Sophie, have only ever known the commune where they were born. They are off-grid, not registered with any government services and independent on the land where they live, with their parents and extended family.

The girls are out hunting rabbits when they hear an ever-increasing noise that is approaching. Their dad scoops them up and puts them down a shelter in the ground. After the horrific noise passes, Tennant is somewhat damaged but, her sister is traumatised and changed. When they emerge, everyone in their community is either missing or dead except their dog Zeke. A specialist team from the government are deployed to determine what has just happened and look for survivors.

It is one hell of an edgy read because I hadn’t a clue if it had been a natural disaster, an invasion, man-made or an attack from an alien force. What I did know was it wasn’t going to go away very soon. Patterson and Barker meld together for a seamless pairing of two very different authors, and it works superbly. The characters are crisp and distinctive, with the intrigue sizzling. The characters have an uneasiness about them with an urgency to stop this destructive force while trying not to think of their own families and what could be happening to them.


It is scary how much our lives are in others hands, as decisions are made with no compassion. I like a book that gets to me, and this did just that. I hope that this pairing of authors will continue into the future.

This book is dark, engaging, twisty and unputdownable. Once you start reading, you'll be looking for reasons to not do anything else but read it.

The story, characters and twists are top notch.
I'm looking forward to a potential sequel.

In a Survivalist’s settlement near Mount Hood in Oregon, sisters Tenant and Sophie are out checking their rabbit traps when they are ‘attacked’ by the loudest, most terrifying and penetrating noise you could imagine. During this assault, their parents scoop them up and hide them in a survival basement. But when the noise stops and they emerge from the shelter, their parents are gone. And so has the entire community - inhabitants, buildings, trees and animals - the whole area has been completely annihilated by an unknown force.

In the immediate aftermath of this event, several specialists are flown in to a temporary military instalment in the area to try and discover what this ‘anomaly’ is and what the government needs to do to contain the situation.

The book is a full-on, non-stop, assault on your senses - terrifying, gory, fast-paced - there’s no let up in the action. If I’d have had a clear day, I would have torn through the book in one sitting. It was that intensely gripping. As it was, I found myself longing to find moments in the day (and night)when I could get back to it as quickly as possible.

I was utterly hooked from start to finish. Although I have to admit to not fully understanding the conclusions of what the noise was and why it happened.
This would make a great film though!

I never thought I’d ever choose a James Patterson book to read - it may be a sweeping generalisation but I thought he was the type of author that you find in a hotel lobby bookshelf that middle aged men begrudgingly pick up to read by the pool! Sorry James Patterson! I done you wrong, but I acknowledge my error by giving you a fulsome five stars for ‘The Noise’.

This is very different to other James Patterson books I have read. It is gripping and a real thriller. I urge you to read it and form your own opinions.

This apocalyptic story is gripping from the beginning. Many military scientists are trying to figure out what is going on: is it a disease, it is infectious because it is spreading quicker than they have estimates. The population is in danger, but from what?
It is a mix of sci-fi, thriller and horror, nice written.

Extraordinary book, I truly had no idea what on earth was going on and the explanation for the 'anomaly' was shocking and very very clever indeed.
I have only read the authors' book written with Bill Clinton prior to reading this and I found the writing excellent, The feeling of fear, confusion, shock and fear is palpable, as unexplained phenomenon cause devastating death and bizarre illness in communities across America, I recommend this book very highly.
*Spoiler follows, please do not read on if you wish to avoid any* I am a soft hearted dog lover and I spent a lot of time whilst reading this brilliant book worrying about the labrador Zeke (yes the book is that absorbing!) I will reassure you that if like me you are liable to worry about the pooch, hes ok!

Loved every moment of this book - really hope its made into a film as would be so eerie!

Tennant and her sister live in an off the grid village with their family.

The village is plague by a Noise, and everyone going missing. Tennant and her sister are lucky enough to hide in a basement and partially escape the noise. we follow their story of how they escape the same fate as the rest of the village.

If you enjoyed Bird Box and A Quiet Place this will be a great read for you.
