Twins swapping identities, a British spy looking for a traitor… working undercover has never been more fun until love enters the equation. Still reeling from a devastating loss, Audrey Powell tries her best to run her mother’s teahouse. It’s a disaster and she almost burns the whole place down. Handsome Brit Liam James swoops in and offers to help. She’s attracted to him immediately so he must be a poet, her weakness. When her supermodel twin sister arrives, the two hatch a plan to swap identities, at least for a while. It all seems so innocent, but Audrey soon learns working undercover is hard work. When Audrey discovers Liam’s a British spy looking for a traitor, she realizes she’s in over her head. Does she know the traitor? Worse yet, is it someone close to her? Audrey and Liam will have to work together in order to capture the criminal. Working undercover has never been this rewarding, especially when it comes to falling in love.

Undercover in Venice Beach is a whirlwind of emotions fueled by love, secrecy, and tea. From the first page, the descriptive narration allowed me to escape to beautiful Venice Beach, California. I connected with Audrey right away. Her grief came out in strange ways, but honestly so. The sparks fly between her and Liam so it was entertaining to see them both try to deny their feelings for each other. The suspense subplot enthralled me, and I kept wondering what was going on and how it would be resolved. The plot moved at a fluid pace with plenty of colorful characters to interact with. The romance was slow at times and sweeping at other times. If you’re looking to be swept away, pick up Undercover in Venice Beach. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to like this story more but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Even though it had some pretty good main characters, it just didn't draw me in like I had hoped. Audrey and her twin Lucinda's deception went a little deeper than I was expecting. Although Liam had his own deception going on with his undercover gig.

Percy who was their mother, Monroe's dog was a nice addition to the story.
The romance is there as much as they try to resist. But I also felt that there was too much poetry in the story but that has to do with my own particular taste. It also at times felt a bit preachy when it came to everyone putting down their cell phones to enjoy life more. Several people in the story were totally anti-technology too.
There is a good end to the story with a H.E.A. for the main characters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Audrey switches places with her twin and gets the chance to run her mother's Teahouse. Unfortunately, Audrey can't cook. She hires Liam, whom she assumes is the chef that he presents himself as. Liam has secrets and reasons for accepting the position that are unknown to Audrey. As the two grow closer, Liam wonders how Audrey will react if his truth comes to light. Loved it!! A definite winner and highly recommended.
Thank you Melody DeBlois, The Wild Rose Press and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
