Description

Meet Melville, a purple, softly round, beyond-adorable sea creature who is off to “find a place for just me.”

Leaving his warm and loving mama behind, Melville the sea creature sets off for an adventure, and he knows just the kind of place he’s looking for. Along the way, he gets lost (briefly), encounters sharks and other big sea creatures, and floats past a pirate ship. Melville checks out a few spots, but all fall short of his dream place…until, weary from his adventures, he finds his way back to his mama—a place that is “just right.”

This book makes me want to say "awwww!" It's so sweet. The baby sea creature heads off to find a place of his own, but ends up finding that being in mama's arms is best. The illustrations are sweet and colorful. Several different sea creatures are portrayed on the pages, allowing for the opportunity for the parent to narrate about those animals outside of the story. A lovely book.

Melville is a tiny little book about a squishy purple sea creature. He wants to explore the sea and find the right place for him when his Mumma calls him for a hug. Melville finds schools of fish, swims among stingrays, alongside whales, and even sees pirates. He gets tired of finding the right place for him and goes back to his Mumma. He declares that it is indeed the best place for him.
The illustrations are soft and beautiful. The message is just as beautiful. Each page has mostly a line of text that makes it super easy to read for little ones. Melville would be a lovely bedtime book for kids. It's a very small book, so parents might have to linger over each page a bit longer.
Thank you, NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing, for the ARC.

This was a really cute little book and I loved the story!

I read it with my daughter when we were having story time snuggled up and she said she loved it and he was right being with mamma is the best! She is a real little bookworm and the fact she asked to read this one again was a huge positive for the book as she can be really picky as there is so much to choose from.

It was easy to follow and understand and she is learning to read so the layout and phrases really helped with that too. It was a great little read with some lovely illustrations too - it is 5 stars from us!

This is so adorable. This will be so popular among both children and parents. Melville has his adventures but still returns home, giving the message that its okay to venture out into the world, but home is a safe place and will always be so. Amazing.

An adorable picture book to remind even the boldest and bravest of explorers that there’s no place like home.

This sweet book tells the story of Melville, a small sea creature who is looking for the best place that is just for him. His adventure leads his through the sea where he encounters many creatures who are different from him.

I thought this book was adorable. The illustrations are simple, but colorful and bright. I loved how the same colors were used throughout. There weren’t too many words on each page which will make it perfect for story time with children and also a good reference for first learning to read.

Overall I enjoyed this sweet book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this advanced copy.

What an absolutely adorable little story! We follow Melville the octopus as he sets out on a journey to find just the right place for him.

This made me feel so happy and just made me want to go give my mom a hug. I loved this one. The art is bright and colourful, the story is easy and fun to follow and the message just hits you right in the feels.

This is an excellent book for children as they cross from infant to toddler, toddlers, and early preschoolers. The illustrations are bright and colorful, while the text is simple and bold. I love the little adventure that the octopus goes on, and the way that Melville finds his way back home at the end. I am sure many of our little ones can connect with that same feeling of exploration before circling back to family's arms.

Aww, Melville is so cute. And I totally relate with you buddy. Being a brave explorer is hard, and exhausting. I'm there too, exploring places and what to do with life, though I'm already 22 and should probably figure it out by now.

What I like about this book is that it shows children that you can go everywhere you like, explore as much, but at the end, there is no place like the comfort of home ( ie, your loving family)

Also, if you like this book, and you're an adult reading this, on this premise I'd recommend you watch the Bollywood Movie, "Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani'. It explores the similar theme but with a lot of fun and drama.

Thank you Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the E- ARC of this book.

This was a cute sweet book with adorable illustrations. It's very short, so I think it would be good bedtime story for little ones.

Cute and short read with the underlying message that the most comforting and safe place a child can be is in their loving mothers arms. I read this with my 3 year old and she absolutely loved all the illustrations of the sea creatures. This was a super easy and short read, perfect for that young age group that have short attention spans.

This was adorable, and I can see it becoming a quick favorite among younger children. The main character is cute and squishy, and I would love him as a stuffed animal. The story is easy to follow and sweet. This one had all the elements of a great children’s book!

A very cute little board book about home being where you belong. The illustrations are sweet and clever and the story made me say "awwww" at the end.

Melville is an adorable little octopus who is seeking independence and wants to "find a place for just me", he says.

His mama wants to give him a squishy but he refuses because he is focusing on going on an adventure. He searches for that perfect spot. He swims past schools of fish, a fever of stingrays, a pod of whales, and a scary sunken pirate's ship, just to name a few. No, they won't do. Will he ever find his utopia?

Melville is tired, discouraged and ready to give up when he suddenly realizes exactly where he belongs. Can you guess where that warm, safe, lovely place might be?

The illustrations are colourful, soft and marry the text spot on. Melville is a wonderful bedtime story that must be read wrapped in loving hugs from the reader. I highly recommend this little board book gem.

This book is so adorable! I love the little adventure Melville goes on to find their place in the world! The graphics are beautiful and the story flows nicely!

I did read this to my daughter and she loves the different sea creatures that were featured as well! Happy ending with a big hug to momma at the end! I would go out of my way to purchase this book!

A cute little book where the baby octopus goes out on an adventure to find a place just for him and eventually finds his way back to his mother's embrace. The illustrations are cute and vibrant, and the story is simple but both my 5yo and my 3yo said they liked it a whole lot. I think it would definitely be a best fit for the younger picture book crowd (ages 1-4), but I'd definitely recommend!
