"It's cleverly written, and draws heavily on the fascinating history and famous landmarks of London. Fans of the Harry Potter books will really enjoy this."
- Amazon Review forPodwitch
London has become a place of riots and anger, driven by the influence of shadow creatures known as the Severals. England’s Aldhelm, Jeb Wainwright, the guardian of something old and very powerful, asks his sixteen-year-old son, Cal, to undertake a journey to find help. But is that the whole truth? Or is there something Jeb isn’t telling Cal?
Cal is about to face his biggest test yet. And, as he has not spoken to his ferocious best friend Janey in three years, he may have to face that test alone.
Unless he can forgive her.
"This book is a masterpiece of fantasy writing."

A Note From the Publisher
N J Poulton has spent his career working in television production, including roles at Sky and the BBC. He has always been an avid reader of fiction across all genres, but particularly stories where fantastical worlds overlap our own. He lives in Oxfordshire, with his wife and son, and their cat and dog, and frequently wishes there were more hours in the day.

This book had such an intrigyuing premise and its stoyline really delivered, it was interesting and I think children and young adults would love the references to London and being able to picture the areas being spoken about within the novel. Good characters abd good imagery. A quick and good read

Thanks, Netgalley and Publisher for the opportunity to read!
It's a fast and light read, compared with the heavy fantasy books I read recently, but that doesn't mean it's bad. On the contrary....I actually needed that. What bugs me is more the fact that recently a lot of authors take inspiration from London as their choice of primal story setting, which isn't bad, it's just nothing new. There are fantastical towns where inspiration could be drawn from, BUT.....nevertheless, the story was really intriguing and magical. I enjoyed it thoroughly and since this is Book 2, of course, it felt that I'm missing some very essential details and events that have happened before the events of this book. I'll be back reading the Podwitch, but this one is definitely a must-read! Es[ecially when the testing of friendship bonds is a core motive.

The first book of the Podwitch Chronicles tells the tale of Cal Wainwright and his best friend Janey Wickthorpe as they fight to survive a wild yet wonderful adventure throughout the streets of London. When the ravens are killed at the Tower of London, Cal's life on Podwitch, a mysterious narrow boat, is turned upside down...
This sequel is set three years later. Hiraeth, Book II in the Podwitch Sequence continues Cal, Jeb, Janey and the Chattan’s struggles in a highly exciting and fast paced adventure. London is dangerous and angry, dark forces are gathering and all are asked to face up to high stakes play.
The risks are increasingly higher as The Mist grows more pervasive but human frailties, despite additional powers, are laid bare. Corruption, trust, human nature, and magical realism all come into play in a wonderful, exhilarating and twisty plot, driven by wonderful characters from the first book.
This has continued a very enthralling series and I thoroughly recommend.
The only warning is that it is advisable to read the first book as the second is not really a standalone title.
