As it happens, I am reading the original devotional through this year. It was helpful to compare the two as I prepared to review this book. It is indeed written for modern times yet rich and full of the original doctrinal truths and expressions of the faith we hold so dear. Highly recommend this to anyone who loves a devotional that digs deep to root out sin and points to our Savior. So many are lighthearted feel-good and not rooted in scripture. That is not the case with this fine classic work! Convicting, encouraging, always focused on Christ; this book will continue to stand the test of time for many believers. Consider it as a precious gift this coming holiday season.

My Utmost for His Highest, is a classic Christian devotion that encourages the reader in their walk of faith. I love the introduction that of course highlights Oswald Chamber’s wife as being writer of this devotion. Everyday there is a scripture to meditate on along with an excerpt from one of Oswald Chambers lessons he taught that correlates with the scripture. The devotion is clear to understand and applicable in the day to day life of Christian living.

My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers is so full of wisdom and insight into the character of God that this will always be one of my favorite books and devotionals. In fact, I read the classic version every year -- which makes it good to compare this new, updated edition. Though the classic version still remains my favorite, this edition retains the wisdom and beauty of Chamber's words. This is a great devotional for every believer as it will challenge and bring growth through these devotions every day.

Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest is simply life altering on a day to day level which equates to seismic shifts longterm. This is an important daily devotional and I usually don't care for devotionals. If you enjoy and find value in this type of exercise then this will surely become one of your most beloved daily routines. If, like me, you usually don't read devotionals, then this will be a most welcome breath of fresh air.

Lovers of Oswald Chambers or Christian fiction will love this revised version of My Utmost for His highest. As someone that's never read. This book was an interesting read

Fantastic! I didn't realize this would be a 365 day devotional (I thought it would be shorter) but I have really enjoyed the pages that I have already read. And anticipate enjoying the rest! The updated language was a bonus for me, as I had planned to read this book this year anyway.

Inspirational words too ponder and grow with. I look forward to reading everyday, sometimes rereading it several times a day as I want the words to melt into my heart.

I've only sampled this classic 365-day devotional but I'm finding it inspirational and surprisingly relevant.

A Christian classic now published for electronic devices. I have used this devotional for years. No matter your age, it addresses deep spiritual truth. Oswald Chambers brings astute insight to familiar scripture and plumbs to deeper revelations of scripture.

One ( only one!) Bible verse is pinpointed, yet remarkably expounded upon . The daily devotions are brief, easily read in 3- 5 minutes. Meditating on the devotion is where time is spent throughout the day. Oswald’s written reflections stay with you.

There is an index in the back that references the devotionals pertaining to various subjects. The index is a wonderful tool to use for particular needs one might be have.

I believe Oswald Chambers devotional is a classic because it is so deep yet can be read by mature or young people. Whether one is a novice and new in the faith or has been a Christian for a long period of time, this devotional can meet the desires/ need of each. I reread it every year because I gain new and different insights with each reading. It is so convenient being in an electronic format; I can take it with me on my digital device right along with my Bible!
