Description

When earth witch Tara Kay returns to her family’s land after the violent theft of her magical abilities, her return isn’t as celebrated as she had hoped. In search of regaining her blood magic, she soon discovers her hometown isn’t just unwelcoming, it’s downright dangerous.

When Tara accidentally awakens her ancient Guardian from his five-thousand-year slumber, they must contend with their growing dark desires for each other. But this new creature isn’t the only new face in town. Kay and her new Guardian soon find themselves up against an unfamiliar enemy who wields a powerful weapon capable of destroying them all.

Together they must rouse a Goddess to save the world from a race from another dimension before they consume all life on earth.

Graphic, gritty, bloodthirsty, steamy, and uniquely original, the Witchbound saga is unlike any other horror/paranormal romance series you’ve ever read and is recommended for mature readers.

The Nature of Magic follows the story of Tessa Kay, who is an Earth Witch, the story is the 4th in the current series. It starts with her guardian coming to life through her favorite childhood tree and follows her journey to find her place in the current state of her world. I came upon this book because I really loved what the plot entailed and the cover was quite beautiful. It was exciting, the world-building was refreshing and it quite honestly broadened my vocabulary. I did have a hard time connecting with the characters in this book. Tessa strikes me as needy and kind of wishy-washy which is something I try to stay away from in a female MC. The verbiage in some of the scenes were repetitive and a bit over the top in terms of word choice. There were so many things going on all at the same time that it was difficult to keep track of the plot at times. The imagery was vivid and the smut was definitely there. Just not a huge fan of the execution. I look forward to trying another book by this author since her style of writing was good! I will be looking to try another series by this author in hopes of finding something more of my style!
