PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, G.P. Putnam's Sons
Private investigator Elvis Cole and his enigmatic partner Joe Pike are back on the case in this brilliant new thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Robert Crais.
Adele Schumacher isn't a typical worried mom. When she hires Elvis to find her missing son, a controversial podcaster named Josh Shoe, she brings a bag filled with cash, bizarre tales of government conspiracies, and a squad of professional bodyguards. Finding Josh should be simple, but Elvis quickly learns he isn't alone in the hunt—a deadly team of mysterious strangers are determined to find Josh and his adult film star girlfriend first.
With dangerous secrets lurking behind every lead, Elvis needs his friend Joe Pike more than ever to uncover the truth about Josh, corrupt politicians, and the vicious business cartels rotting the heart of Los Angeles from within. And when Elvis's estranged girlfriend Lucy Chenier and her son, Ben, return, he learns just how much he has to lose...if he survives.
Written with the heart, humor, and relentless suspense for which Crais is famous, Racing the Light delivers Elvis Cole's most dangerous case yet.

Robert Crais's RACING THE LIGHT was another great entry in the Elvis Cole series. I love Crais's writing and characters. Elvis continues to be a great protagonist, with so much understated humor, compassion, and integrity. He has some nice personal growth in this book, and it's touching to see him with his adopted son. Joe Pike is also a fun element in these books--he always strikes me as Reacher-esque. My only gripe is the POV switching, which seems to slow the book down and doesn't necessarily seem worth it (some of those voices are much less authentic than Cole's), but overall, a great book.
This was one of the best of Robert Crais' Elvis Cole and Joe Pike series yet! I could not put it down, so much suspense and excitement. So many twists and turns. Nice to see Lucy and Ben. The story was great, the characters, as always, superb! Loved it, can't wait for next. And highly recommend this book and all the rest of the series.
Welcome Back, Elvis! It's been a while.
A worried mom hires LA private investigator Elvis Cole to find her missing adult son. Guess what? This mom's not a regular mom. As Elvis makes inquiries and follows up leads, he runs into porn stars, conspiracy theorists, retired black ops weapons designers, Chinese thugs, crooked city councilmen, bent real estate developers and a homeless man living in Griffith Park. This is the Los Angeles I am here for.
Joe Pike, Elvis' laconic bestie, shows up in Chapter 7. Old flame Lucy and her son Ben arrive for a visit. The personal and the professional bleed into each other and all over the pages. Can Elvis keep everyone safe?
Robert Crais' signature blend of crackling action and snappy dialogue is as fun to read today as it was way back in 1987. The "world's greatest detective" is back in the house.

With all the humor and fast-moving suspense that Crais fans desire, Racing the Light reunites, Cole, Joe Pike, and Jon Stone. Crais gives his readers a lovely surprise when Lucy Chenier and her son Ben arrive for a visit, but we're left wondering if they'll be back to create the family that Elvis desperately wants and needs. #RacingTheLight #NetGalley #SaltMarshAuthors
Oh Elvis, how I've missed you! When Elvis is hired by an eccentric woman to find her son, the hunt turns out to be something more than he expected. All of our favorites are here- Joe Pike and Jon Stone are there to assist, and Lucy and Ben make an appearance. Highly recommend for fans of the series and for those who have missed Elvis and Joe.
