What a ride ... really enjoyed this thriller, horror novel ... up there with some of the best including King, Blatty, and McDowell. All of the characters are well scripted and enjoyable to follow through the story. Very hard to put down as you are kept in suspense as the story unfolds. I think a visit to the dentist is well of the cards now and I have a new understanding of "The Tooth Fairy'. Highly recommended to all horror, thriller, mystery readers and well worth five (5) stars.

I really really enjoyed this. It started strong and did not slow down throughout the entire book.

This book follows Johnny, a tech executive who is running away from his life that is falling apart. On his way, he meets Jamie who happens to be going to the same place Johnny is, so he gives him a ride. On the way, Johnny has a medical emergency and must see a dentist in a small forgotten town. Then he meets Wendy, the towns dentist. What happens after that… you’ll have to read to find out.

My only critique, which doesn’t take away from the book, but as someone with a psychology background, I am very tired of seeing people with mental illness portrayed as violent or dangerous. I think this book tells a story about how trauma can change someone’s life but in the book, her diagnosis was portrayed as the cause of her actions. I did like that she was seen in therapy though!

What in the hell did I just read?!?

I honestly have no idea but I LOVED IT.

The TLDR on THE TOOTH FAIRY by @dtarsitanooffical, Johnny Hawk, a successful business man, finds his wife cheating. He has a breakdown, leaves his company and drives across the county. While traveling, he picks up a hitchhiker, Jamie. When they make it to New Mexico, Johnny’s tooth hurts something fierce (and has since the beginning of the book) and Jamie insists they stop and get it looked at.

Enter Wendy. Single woman. A dentist. Going back and forth from Albuquerque to Copper City, where she grew up. She has her own crazy demons, which are HELLA apparent throughout the novel. Her father was a dentist and had his dental operation in their basement. Wendy’s father is long gone but she still has the house…and the dental equipment in the basement. I bet you can guess what happens next. A crazy massive storm of sex, kidnapping, torture and hidden demons. It’s a lot to process.

Y’all. I already have a major dentist phobia. I’m that person who dreams about their teeth falling out…FREQUENTLY. When I started reading the book I questioned why I even bothered because OH MY GOD, I was so uncomfortable.

But the whole story was masterfully written, weaving in multiple characters almost seamlessly. And dear God, the twist at the end made me gasp out loud (to which my husband dully asked, “The book?”) I don’t think this book will be leaving my memory for quite some time.

If you’re a fan of gore and horror and just generally insanity, check out this book.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own hone\st voluntary review.

This book is bonkers! For the first third of the book I was a little bored, but then some shit starts and it got way better for me. Gory and cringey at times, it isn’t for the weak, but I can easily recommend for any horror fan.

The Readerly review is under invisiblemonster. Thank you for this opportunity.

A tense and fast moving suspense tale. A man running from the life he no longer wants, a woman running from a past she can't even remember - on a head long collision course reaching a violent conclusion. The power of friends old and new and long hidden secrets weave through the fast moving tale. Don't want to give any spoilers, just read it

Wow! I flew through this book in 2 days because I couldn't put it down, despite some challenging content.
We follow Johnny as he leaves his wife and embarks on a cross country road trip, with a sore tooth. Along the way, he meets Jamie, who he offers a ride to. Their trip is sidelined in a small town, thanks to the increasing pain of the ignored tooth, where Johnny meets Wendy, who is a second generation dentist with personal demons.

This book is insanely good! I loved the set-up of the characters, and the gradual building of dread. There is an underlying theme of pain, and thanks to Tarsitano's writing, it is palpable. From past traumas to small towns to torture, Tarsitano masterfully mixes it all into a chilling and horrific tale. Such a promising debut- I can't wait to read home. I highly recommend this to horror fans.

I am not the biggest horror fan, but I really liked what The Tooth Fairy was selling. This was a story that was interesting and thrilling and I was actually invested in the story and the characters. I like that Tarsitano doesn't give all the information that a reader would want, but I could also see how this may not jibe with many readers. Johnny was a "likable" character, but Jamie and Ed were the really likable characters. There are many holes in the story, but honestly, it doesn't detract from the story as a whole. It was a good story with some very creepy moments.

4 because it did not end as good as it started but still I liked the story, most of it except for the trip across the country that FELT that long trying to read through it.

I actually really enjoyed this book! I knew very little going into it which is quite different from my usual reads. Can very much feel the King influence (and loved the Dark Tower reference!!).

I wish that we explored a little more into Wendy's childhood and the differences between her perspective and Ed's perspective. The story about the rabbit was great and I would loved more moments like that to truly understand how disturbed Wendy was as a child.

I didn't particularly enjoy Ed's premonitions. Felt a little too close to the Shining and didn't seem particularly important to the story.

Overall really enjoyed this story. Thanks to Netgalley and David Tarsitano for the ebook and I will be ordering a physical copy soon to have on my shelf!

Typically I'm not a fan of horror type novels but this one had me hooked! It was a quick read and the twist was insane! Great debut novel and cannot wait to read more of Davide's work!

I just finished the Tooth Fairy by Davide Taristano

Johnny Hawk decides to leave his life behind and takes his dad's classic car on a roadtrip to start his life over. On the way he picks up a hitchhiker, who sees he is in desperate need of a dentist. Upon arriving in New Mexico Johnny meets the beautiful Wendy Jag who extracts his problem tooth.
Fireworks and passion fly and Johnny feels some serious contentment.
Little does he know that the woman he has strong feelings for has a dark and disturbing past… One he starts to discover when he finds himself drugged and strapped to her dentist chair….

I was seriously thirsting for something dark and sadistic and this book delivers some seriously horrific twists. Digging into the darkest psyche of a seriously deranged woman, had me flipping pages like a maniac!

I loved that the book didn’t need to dig into any of the characters' backgrounds to be a really solid read. I would have liked a bit more on Wendy and her father and how she ended up the way she did as I kind of feel that it was left a bit more abstract than I would have liked but there was gore galore and honestly, it was one hell of a read without it anyway.

If you love a book loaded with gore and will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you!

4.5 stars!

The book seemed eccentric and mysterious right from the beginning. However, it was a bit slow paced in the beginning, so a bit tiring at times, but there was something about the writing style (+the anticipation) that I didn't feel like leaving it unfinished (I am a very impatient reader).

I'm glad I stayed patient while reading this one, as it turned out to be a very interesting read. Mysterious, creepy and gripping. Really liked the writing style (lyrical at times) and the execution of the story.

We follow Johnny who suffers a betrayal in his personal life and sets off in a journey to literally anywhere but here. He ends up in a little town and meets what he believed to be the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. Things seem to be on the up and up until they’re not.

I enjoyed this quick read. It was disturbing and a thriller/horror mix which I truly enjoy. It was well written and had a good pace without getting too bogged down in details. I recommend this for horror readers who aren’t afraid of a little gore.

A dark story dealing with abuse, mental illness and trauma. This isn't a light read or a make believe story but a heavy and powerful story that may cause uncomfortable reading for some. This book isn't what I was expecting and it's definitely not a book I can easily say I enjoyed due to the dark nature behind it but it is very well written.

This was a new author for me . I never read anything from this author before but for the most part I really liked this book. I thought the whole story was amazing. I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with on the next book they write. I usually judge a book from the cover because for me it shows if it’s going to be interesting or not and I loved the book

Johnny is on the run from his troubles, he thinks nothing of selling up and leaving everything behind for a new life. During his journey he meets the beautiful dentist Wendy, and that's when he really knows the meaning of 'Trouble'.

Well written, great introduction to the book, disturbing & gory at times, great for horror/thriller fans but I would say it has a wider reach.

I can honestly say that I wish the book wouldn’t have ended. I couldn’t put it down. Took me only 2 days to read. Thank you so much for letting me read this book

My first book by this author & won't be the last. It has everything you want in a horror book; plot, suspense, creepy & twisted. Definitely one of those books that keep you thinking about it for awhile. It keeps you intrigued & on the edge of your seat. Also has awesome character development.
