I wanted to get a copy of the first two books in this series, but haven’t managed to do so yet.So I was delighted to receive a copy of this book. The book starts with a wedding on New Year’s Eve, when Greg Murphy, the owner of the hotel chain, married his girlfriend Libby. Before long, the maid of honour, disappears. DI James Walker is called in when a body is found. He and his team investigate and discover many of the guests have a motive. Who is the murderer? I kept trying to second guess the murderer and it was the end of the book before i discovered who it was..
I really enjoyed this story. It held my interest, was an easy read and I felt I could connect with the characters. I was disappointed when it finished. I will certainly read the first two books in the series now.
I wish to thank NetGalley and Avon books for an arc copy of this seasonal story.

This book is the 3rd in the DI James Walker series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I really liked the mystery around who the killer was and the fact that there was several likely suspects. It had me guessed until the very end of the book. It’s a solid detective story that I would definitely recommend!

I found The Winter Killer impossible to put down. It’s a gripping thriller of a read that kept me entertained from start to finish. It’s a police procedural set in the Lake District and begins at the wedding of local businessman Greg Murphy and his bride to be Libby on New Year’s Eve. They’re in the middle of celebrating their nuptials when it becomes apparent one of the guests is missing. And as the clock strikes midnight, DI James Walker receives a phone call and he and his team are called in to search for a body. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author for the chance to review.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope he writes more! I am totally hooked!

The Winter Killer is a gripping detective novel filled with interesting characters, police procedures, and a very cozy winter setting. This book is the third in the DI James Walker series. I had not read either of the other two but that did not detract from this book. Moreover, after finishing The Winter Killer, I will absolutely being going back and reading the other two novels.

In The Winter Killer, Jessica Abbott is attending the wedding of one of her fiancée's golf friends. After the ceremony, the maid-of-honor goes missing and soon Walker is called in to investigate. Friends, family, and guests are all questioned with many secrets being revealed. I felt I was part of the investigation along side James, and I honestly was kept guessing until the end. Definitely a fun, five star read!

This is the third installment in the series but can be read as a standalone. The police procedural works as it doesn't rely on standard plot lines even though I had worked out the killer, but I read far too much.

The ending sets up the new book so well.

I was given an advance copy by net galley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own

Sadly I didn’t know it was part of a series so some of the story and plot didn’t make sense to me but that’s my own fault not that authors.

Such a great book. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down.

DI James Walker and his team return in The Winter Killer, third in this excellent police procedural series by talented author Alex Pine. DC Jessica Abbott and her fiancé Sean are attending the glamorous New Year’s Eve wedding of Libby Elliott and Greg Murphy, owner of the luxury lakefront hotel where the wedding takes place. When Rachel, Libby’s sister and maid of honor, disappears during the the reception, a search begins. DC Abbott is in charge, joined by DI Walker when clues leading to a grim discovery are found. Rachel has drowned in the lake after receiving a head injury. Abbott and Walker must deal with the grieving family, over-served wedding guests, and the bleak and snowy Cumbrian winter.

This series just keeps getting better. DI Walker leads a complicated investigation while worrying about his sick daughter at home. Jessica Abbott shines in her first time in charge. The entire team, with both successes and rivalries, is well-described. Wild Cumbria, so near Scotland, is an atmospheric location. I’m looking forward to what comes next for DI Walker. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and Alex Pine for this ARC.
