All you have to say is "mermaid-human love story" and I'm sold. Addy is a human by day and mermaid by night. Ben Yeates spotted a mermaid as a teenager, and comes to Mystic Cove to discover whether mermaids are real or not. He meets Addy and he realizes there may be more than meets the eye.

I truly always love the idea of mermaid secret, and if a book has a modern setting with a mermaid trying to fit into real life, I will read it. In terms of the folklore of mermaids, it wasn't anything particularly original (and I don't mean that negatively), but more so that it's easy to follow, and the idea of mermaids and sirens is fairly standard.

The romance felt fast and slightly underdeveloped. I was wishing for just a little bit more tension, but the two were great, and the steam was perfection. I will say, my biggest wish, is that the reveal for Ben that Addy is a mermaid was bigger. Because the end felt like it was an afterthought. "Oh yeah, I figured it out." I love that fact that he unquestioningly loved her, even though he found out who/what she is, but I still would've loved a grander reveal.

Overall, a really cute, quick read, with just the perfect amount of spice, in a modern setting with the lovely added lore of mermaids.

This was a very quick, self-contained read that gave us just a taste of what is clearly a larger world.

Addy is a siren who looks like a mermaid. She’s been trying to help out her local fishermen by luring fish back into the harbor for them, but the evil corporate seafood guy just keeps breaking laws to get what he wants. Their feud has escalated and Addy has gotten the attention of the law herself, but to investigate the concerns of a business owner, who Addy is also. Ben, the “law” in question, ends up investigating, but hopes to find a mermaid himself. He also, lucky for us, has no problem combining business and pleasure, so starts a fling with Addy. This swiftly turns into more on all fronts, escalating quickly into a race for their lives. Overall, this was an easy read with minimal loose ends.

Quirky little romance for fans of the genre. .
