Nick is an introverted teenage store clerk in a small town in Kentucky in the 80s. He struggles with episodes of anxiety and depression whilst grappling with his spiritual self. When he meets Carmen, Nick learns to understand love and a feeling of complete happiness and acceptance but when the relationship between Carmen and Nick ends, he must learn to find happiness in an harsh world. In his quest for happiness, Nick’s mind escapes to a fantasy world where everything is as he hoped the real world would be. A world that promises relief from depression and self-doubt.
