Description
The theft of priceless books from a public library and the bloody attack on a security guard trying to protect them, sets Detective Kim Jansen on a twisting road of contradictory evidence and multiple suspects. Along the way, Jansen uncovers a 100-year-old family secret as a possible motive for the crimes.
At the center of it all, is a millionaire vintner and the intergenerational violence that drove him to pay his best friend, a down-on-his-luck gambling addict who is homeless, jobless, and estranged from his family, to steal seven books from Edward S. Curtis' epic 20-volume book, The North American Indian. Worth $3 million as a set, Jansen races to save the missing books from the black market and catch the crook.
