Laurent Casino, a writer famous for the fantasy novel “The Angel of Death” explores his own life which includes his struggles with OCD, post-traumatic stress from severe bullying, and the fact that he questioned reality itself since 2017. A firm believer in the simulation hypothesis, Laurent analyzes many different events in his life which may offer proof that his world is a computer simulation.
Laurent’s twenty-year struggle with OCD and the severe bullying from both teachers and students spanning several years is put in the spotlight. Throughout the book, the narrator reveals his psychological journey including his desire to both get justice for the trauma he has faced and to uncover the truth about the world he inhabits.
There are many things within this novel that are inspired by real life events. The author, Laurent Cousineau, used a lot of his own trauma and life experiences as inspiration for this novel. For instance, the bullying and OCD depicted in this novel closely resemble what the author went through.
