With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, sophomore Kalvin Schmelton is eking out a small profit selling Candygrams from an out-of-use maintenance closet. But then popular junior Sterling Glistern barges into his hideout, distraught over her cheating boyfriend. Drawing on the expertise of his parents—marriage counselors with a chart-topping podcast—Kalvin discovers he has a special talent: giving relationship advice.
Soon news of Kalvin’s “therapy practice” spreads throughout the school, and everyone is signing up for a seven-minute session. It’s not long before he’s making money hand over fist, and just in time too: Kalvin’s parents' marriage is secretly crumbling, and Kalvin plans to save it with a surprise trip to Hawaii. With his new business, he might just scrape together the cash to pay for it before Valentine’s Day.
But there’s one growing problem that threatens everything Kalvin has built: He's been falling for his first client, Sterling. And she’s in a relationship that he’s been “hired” to fix. With the clock ticking down to Valentine's Day, Kalvin realizes his only chance with Sterling is to bend the rules. But is that what a good therapist would do? Is it worth risking his growing business—and more importantly, his morals—to get with the girl of his dreams?
