Description

Finding Home is book 1 in the warm, confidence‑building early reader series about rescue pets learning how to belong in a new family.

Told in short, accessible chapters and supported by full‑color illustrations throughout, the series is designed to help beginning readers build fluency while exploring themes of friendship, kindness, and home.

In Finding Home, shelter dogs Moose and Bear are patiently waiting to be adopted. While at the shelter, they become fast friends—and when Cathy decides to take them both home, their new life begins.

As they adjust to unfamiliar routines and a new family, Moose and Bear discover what it really means to belong, and their friendship grows stronger with every small step forward.

Gentle and reassuring in tone, The Rescues will appeal to readers who enjoy classic early reader series like Henry and Mudge, with relatable moments, short chapters, and lovable animal characters.

The series is perfect for emergent readers and continues with The Rescues: Best Day Ever (The Rescues #2).

Such an important message, this was the first book I have read that involved rescue animals! I loved that is what the focus of the first chapter was! The book was very cute and I enjoyed the illustrations, the writing could have been a little better, but my kids, ages 6,4 &2 all loved the book and wanted to read it again as soon as it was over.

This is about two shelter dogs that have trouble finding a home due to their differences. But once they find each other everything else falls into place. This book is so sweet and helps your child understand that everyone is different and we should emphasize their strengths. Love the message and illustrations.
