Description

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single woman in possession of a free mind, must be in want of a superhero.”

In a parallel universe not so far, far away somewhere in the Multiverse this novel begins in rural England around the turn of the 19th century during the British Regency Period.

Unbeknown to humanity, it is a time of intergalactic jeopardy that threatens not only the fate of freedom in the parallel universe, but as a consequence of the Laws of Physics, the entire Multiverse.

Here we find Lizzy Bennet who has always known she had rather special abilities, but quickly discovers their depth and extent and that they are incredible superpowers. Furthermore, she soon discovers that a select group of people including her father and her four sisters all have differing superpowers of their own.

But where did these superpowers come from? They were a donation from a mysterious group of aliens known as the Equalisers who were believed to be shapeshifters in human form and who can only grant the Superheroes an equal chance of success.

Lizzy and her fellow Superheroes soon find themselves onboard a starship embedded in a sci-fi space opera where they face an approaching starship armada of all-conquering alien invaders.

Can they defeat them?

Find out in T. J. P. Campbell’s incredible novel Pride and Prejudice and Superheroes, the first in his English Classics/Space Opera mashup trilogy.

If you enjoy the interweaving of Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice with the action-packed excitement of sci-fi space opera, you’re sure to enjoy Pride and Prejudice and Superheroes.

Advance Praise

"This was such a unique spin on the sci-fi genre, I loved the Jane Austen elements on this book. It worked well for me as the first book in the Equalisers Trilogy series. I enjoyed how well everything worked as a space opera and the characters felt like the same people from Pride and Prejudice. I'm excited to see where this series will go and where T. J. P. Campbell goes."

"I was uncertain whether I’d like this book, but am so glad I took a punt on it. There are several direct quotes from P&P, and for the first part of the book, it has the same scenarios as P&P but with a few extra phrases in. Once the heroes head to space it all drastically changes. I don’t want to give to much away, but oh my word sci-fi aside, some of the things that happen between the characters are shocking and unforeseen. I really enjoyed this book, and couldn’t put it down. I was a little disappointed that some of the ending isn’t the same as in P&P, as I’d hoped that this story was written in such a way that possibly this happened in that world and could be tied into the story, but it was still a very good story. 10/10 I’d heartedly recommend."

“Beautiful storytelling. Well written. As a graduate of English Language, having read Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, I enjoyed the way scenes in this novel were manipulated from the original novel. I like the fact that although the characters get to learn modern English, they still maintain some sentence constructions from their own culture.”

“I have now enjoyed several of your stories and am truly impressed with the quality and quantity of your writing.

Looking forward to much more.”

“This book made me realise that it doesn’t matter which time period you are in or which book genre you are in. It seems the story of humanity has always been the same. A very elegant science-fiction story.”

I am not much of a sci-fi reader but I will make an execption when it comes to JA stories especially pride and prejudice. This was an unusual story which started before the Meryton ball. Mr Bingley came to gather the forces/powers. The powers were interesting (as well as who they were given to). The main characters at the start were I had expected them. Then came the space travel, which was mind-blowing (for me). Fortunately the author was descriptive of things/events so someone like me can follow and appreciate the rest of the story. The powers were amazingly put to use efficiently and there was some sort of redemption and love stories that prevailed. This was a different but diverting variation. I recommend reading even if you are not into sci-fi stories.

While this was an entertaining read, I feel like it went on for way too long. I am happy, however, that there are people out there who keep P&P alive and well.
