Description
It's been over 1100 years since Doomtime. Beamo Roamer is a Zarkarian scavenge man who gets his eyes on a map that shows the way to the Lost Fort Knox gold. He then gets captured by a ruthless motorcycle gang who happens to be run by his former best friend Tee Sal and his alluring sister Little Bit. They force Beamo to lead them west to Area 51 in search of the greatest payload in history. Aggressive, genetically-modified beasts and bizarre trans-humans are waiting for them in the vast Wasteland. Not to mention chopper-riding, human-skin-collecting marauders are hot on their trail. Beamo wants the gold and wants to stay alive. In the end he finds out he wants Little Bit more than anything else.

This is my kind of book: LeRoy Wow has created a dystopian world that springs out from the first page, immersing the reader, as the story progresses, in details that make it authentic. And in Beamo, we have a protagonist, whose unique voice and understanding of himself and his companions drives the narrative at a pace that left me breathless. This is a quest, a redemption, a search for not just treasure colored in myth, but love, friendship and belonging. There is blood and gore aplenty, but LeRoy has balanced and mixed this with humor and tenderness as well, A wonderful, gripping read.
