Description

Join Really Bird and his friends who play outside in the snow while Really Bird keeps warm inside and directs the others in a game of throwing snowballs.

Meet Really Bird, a small bird who lives in a large city park with his friends, Cat, Rabbit, and Pup. In each story, Really Bird finds himself really wanting something - to be bigger, to have his fair share, or to be a leader - to be really silly, funny, strong, cool, happy, or brave. And when he feels something, he really feels it.
Each story is an entertaining, character-driven caper based on relatable social/emotional themes, delivered with surprise twists, high drama, and expert timing. Along the way, lessons are learned about qualities such as teamwork and compassion. The emphasis is on character growth and development through creative problem solving. Friendship and emotional engagement are at the heart of every story.
In It's Really Cold Outside!, Really Bird manages to stay warm while his friends play outside in the snow. By coming up with a creative idea, the friends manage to include everyone even if one member of the group isn't quite feeling up to facing the cold snowy weather.

Join Really Bird and his friends who play outside in the snow while Really Bird keeps warm inside and directs the others in a game of throwing snowballs.

Ziefert's books are illustrated so well for little kids and would work well for those learning to read. Really cute book!

I'm always amazed that Harriet Ziefert can keep writing beginning readers with limited vocabular that are still entertaining enough to keep the kids entertained. I also really liked the illustrations. They're colorful and simple. They are the sort of illustrations that encourage kids to illustrate their own stories.

“It’s Really Cold Outside” by Harriet Ziefert is the next installment in the Really Bird series. Set during a fun, snowy day; Really Bird and Cat and Pup have to figure out how what to play that everyone can agree on. A fun representation of people liking different activities and learning to compromise.

Another cute book in the Really Bird series. You can read the Really Bird books in any order. All Really Bird stories are in a comic book style with speech bubbles. The text is simple for beginning readers and are best suited for younger readers. As an adult these stories aren’t overly exciting to read, but my three-year-old enjoys the Really Bird books and likes to read them over and over again. All books in the series have a positive message within them and include some discussion questions at the end of the book. In this book, Really Bird doesn’t like the cold, but his friends want to play in the snow. Eventually, Really Bird and his friends find a fun way to enjoy the snow. This book is good at showing kids that sometimes we need to be creative and think of different ways to play so that everyone can have fun.

This is a fun book about friends working together to have fun on a snowy day. While they do compromise and share, there are some impatient and rude moments before they arrive at a decision. The artwork is beautiful and adds to the story. Overall, a fun read for children.

Another humorous book in the Really Bird series.
Cat and Dog want to play outside in the snow; Bird does not. He agrees to come out and play but is miserable. They come inside and have no fun. Bird proposes a compromise and everyone is happy. They even find a way to be happy being inside too.
Simple to read text for emerging readers. Brightly colored illustrations will hold their interest and offer context clues.

Poor bird! Cat and Dog want to play in the snow, but Bird is not a fan of the cold! Even with his hat and scarf, bird does not like the cold. Luckily, the friends do a little compromise and everyone is happy in the end. It's amazing how so much can happen, using limit vocabulary. I know this is going to be a popular book with my first graders! I can't wait to share it with them!!

I thought this was a cute story showing children how to compromise and play together so that everyone is happy .

Really Bird lives in the city and on a cold, snowy day his friends Pup and Cat go to his house to play . Although it is too cold for little bird to
play outside all three work together to have fun in the snow .

This story has relatable adorable characters, and engaging storyline. It focuses on themes that explores children's experiences, emotions and everyday life.

This one just didn't work for me or my daughter wh I read it aloud to. I enjoyed the vibrant illustrations. However, the story itself was lacking. It was mainly a group of friends at odds on what they want to do but eventually find something they all agree on. I just found the communications between the characters to be flat and repetitive. (Ex- lets do this. no. lets do this. no........)

It's Really Cold Outside by Harriet Ziefert - 5/5
Children's Fiction

It's Really Cold Outside is a fun and easy read about friendship. When friends are outside enjoying the fun that winter has provided, Really Bird is sitting cozy inside his warm house. When he realized what fun the others are having, he must find it in him to be brave. This is a great story for children, to share with them the qualities of friendship, problem solving and being kind.
I love this book and it is not only a must for my home library but a recommendation for many others.

Thank you Netgalley and Albatros Media for the eARC.

Mixed feelings about this book.
In the beginning, the other 2 animals are legit angry and really bird. Their faces are mean. Then they are playing? I am already confused. The ending with the snowfall throwing did not make sense. The bird complained that he was cold, but we are going to open a window and try to hit the snowman.
And then more animals came out of nowhere.
I know I am being critical, but not my favorite.

Another outstanding addition to the Really Bird series! Harriet Ziefert ties together fun illustrations with animated text to captivate young readers. It's Really Cold Outside is a welcomed and much anticipated companion to the many other incredible Really Bird books.
