All About Color

This was really interesting! Honestly, I even learned some things about color. My daughter thought it was really interesting and listened to the entire book even though she’s probably a bit young for the content!

All About Color is an interesting and different look at the concepts of color. It teaches us about the science of color in a fun and exciting way! The illustrations are bright and fun. It's also cool how the author brings color to emotions. Great book for kids to learn about the colors we see around us!

This was so informative! I learned some new things. Definitely a little too advanced for my kiddo but I'll be looking for this one in a few years once he's a bit older. Wonderful illustrations and very pretty however it is definitely for older children as there are a lot of "science" words.

This book provides lots of information about color in our world in a way that's easy for children to understand. We need light to see in color, and what color we see depends on what color is reflected instead of absorbed. It also explains how we use colors as symbols, such as in a traffic light, and how sometimes an animal's color can be a signal to stay back. Big contrast in color can draw your eyes to something, and just the opposite with camouflage. At the end, the author explains a little bit more about how color works.

This nonfiction picture book has beautiful, unique illustrations and simple text. This book explains what color is and what colors mean, sharing scientific, social, and psychological information in basic, kid-friendly sentences. In the note at the end, the author shares even more information, particularly about how our eyes perceive color.

I would recommend this to parents and educators who want to teach their kids about color in a much deeper way than you typically see presented, and this book will also be thought-provoking and eye-opening for many adults.

If someone has enjoyed this book and wants to take a deeper dive, I would also recommend the book "Before Colors: Where Pigments and Dyes Come From" by Annette Bay Pimentel.

Good explanation for kids about color. Explains it in basic ways for them to understand! Colorful pictures

A different take on a picture book about color. Would be useful on a lesson about color and in education setting. I don't feel as though it would have much repeatability on a family bookshelf.

I love how different and unique this book is compared to the rest of the books which try to teach kids about colours!

This book is a celebration of the different ways what colours can mean to us.

What we should not expect from the book is that this book does not teach about what different colours are.
We can expect good illustrations with different shades of colours and the writing to be read as a short poem.

Love it. I feel this book is meant for older children.

In my opinion this is a great book for any parent / homeschool parent / teacher or anyone wanting to learn about color theory. Color theory in itself, can be complex but this book does a great job introducing the fundamentals. I would recommend this book.

This book looks at what color is (reflection of light) and how there is no standard understanding of color. Very interesting,

The best thing about this nonfiction children's picture book is how it uses color to prove how we think of color. For instance, some illustrations did not use the color we normally perceive. Other illustrations use color to show how we project feeling and intent. Intellectually, we understand that the world isn't colored the way we imagine, but this book was a great way of showing it.

Full of vibrant and bold illustrations, All About Color provides a thorough overview of how and why we see colors all around us. Written in a way for children to easily understand.

Rusch and Goss have bowled me over again. Then I saw that they had put out a sort of “spiritual sequel” to “All About Nothing,” I jumped to ask for an ARC copy from the publisher. And I was so excited to get it!

Rusch’s text gives a brief education on light’s role in creating color, as well as showing multiple color metaphors. Emotions, animal warnings, and even how humans use specific colors to communicate, such as an orange life vest asking for help.

Elizabeth Goss’s illustrations just…blow my mind. That’s not digital. That’s not drawing. That’s cut paper. CUT. PAPER. How. HOW? Like, for a moment, I’ll think, surely not. Then you’ll notice a shadow and realize that there’s actual DEPTH to these images, and my mind is just blown again.

Now, I pointed this out to my kid as we were reading. And she was ALSO astonished. And she asked me to read again. I was going to give this 5 stars anyways, but a request for a repeat read is also an auto 5-star in my reviews. So, it won in my opinion and in my child’s opinion, as well!
