Description
What's a fed-up duck who feels all out of luck supposed to do? Go and ask a wise owl for help, of course! But watch out for the hungry Fox . . .
From the award-winning Gemma Merino, author of the The Crocodile Who Didn't Like Water, The Duck With No Luck is a funny, uplifting and reassuring tale about how to tackle the ups and downs of life, take a more positive look at things and appreciate all you have.
After a particularly unlucky moment, Duck has had enough! Heading off to ask Wise Owl why he's so unlucky, he comes across a lonely swan, a hungry fox and a bare tree, all looking for answers of their own. Will Wise Owl's advice help Duck to find his luck after all? And has he just been looking in the wrong place all along?

A really cute little story about a duck for whom nothing seems to go right so he sets out to find out why he is so unlucky. I enjoyed both the story and the illustrations. The illustrations were a little like doodles, which was a unique style and one I found fun. The story was also cute. I think young children will enjoy both the story and the illustrations, especially the first few pages where they can see all the ways the duck is unlucky,
I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

The drawing are not my usual preference, they are a kind of simplistic watercolor, but very cheery and colorful.
The main story follow our unlucky duck, altough his misfortunes are not spelled out, which seems like a good opportunity to teach children how to interpret a story through drawings and to pay close attention to details.
The end message is that our luck is sometime right in front of us, even if it might not always feel like it.
The story is really short with concise text, perfect for young children, or those with less attention span for reading.

This picture book is all about a duck who's down on his luck. He decides to consult Wise Owl, who 'knows EVERYTHING.'
He takes other critters' questions to Owl as well, after meeting them on the way. Owl tells him how to find his luck.
Young readers who are also feeling down on their luck might enjoy Duck's adventure - and benefit from Wise Owl's advice.
