Description
DREAMS AND OMENS
With a temper fiery enough to warn off any soldier not to take what isn’t offered, Lara’s reputation as a wildcat is deadly. To add to her troubled life, which keeps most villagers at bay, she was born with the ability to foretell the death of her friends, enemies, and lovers.
When Lara’s arrested for assaulting a guard, she’s cast into servitude under Talon, the king’s captain. She’s foreseen meeting Talon for most of her life, and is now living her own private hell. Yet, as she gets to know him, she learns he’s a man of honor who fights for her. And the dreams in which he dies become a recurring nightmare.
Worse, she can’t imagine loving him for only a few weeks knowing she faces a lifetime of grief without him.
A Note From the Publisher
Michele James lives in a southern California beach town with her understanding husband, one mini panther, and two crazy cattle dogs.
A retired veterinary technician, she writes historical romances with elements of fantasy that are full of adventure and romance with swoon worthy heroes and strong-willed heroines. You might find a bit of medicinal lore and an animal character or two in her books.
She enjoys watching movies without commercials, cooking, gardening, walks on the beach (especially in winter), and practicing yoga.
Advance Praise
"If you enjoy adventure and romance you’ll love this book. You’ll fall in love with Lara and Talon and their exploits. Just when it seems everything is settled the author surprises you. I enjoyed the descriptive style and the historical facts James has included in the book. I highly recommend Warrior Mine. I couldn’t put it down because what happens next is anyone’s guess. I look forward to the next book Michele James writes in this series."
"Though I adored Lara and all of the powerful energy she brought to the story, Talon is my favorite kind of hero. Ruggedly handsome, strong, brave, and fiercely devoted to his lady love. Couldn’t put it down and was sad when it ended. Michele has a way of writing men that I fall in love with every time. Talon is my favorite of them all!"
"Absolutely intriguing story Didn't want to put it down sorry when it was over Wanted more! This is perfect for a sequel Michele James is a great historical romance writer It shows she puts a lot of research into the era she has her characters in Read her other 4 books This one tops them all Loved it!!"

I enjoyed reading about Lara and Talon - all of their interactions were set in a band of loyalty and the steps to their HEA were just beautiful.
I am not a historical or regency fan usually. I just get bogged down with all the thees and thous. But this story had a great balance of the kings language and contemporary. The characters were well developed from the beginning so it was easy to get attached and drawn into the story. You wanted Talon and Lara together. The plot was one that was simple, the reader kind of knew the progression but it felt fresh so it still left you wondering what would happen next. I love the fact that the author included plenty of animals especially one that is part of the main plot line. Great story all around.
Adventure, romance, betrayal - this medieval story had everything to keep me sated from beginning to end.
Lara is a fiery, headstrong character whose talent for getting into difficult situations makes for a very enthralling plot. When she is pitted against Talon, the smoldering Captain of the Guard, the tension is palpable. They are both very easy to like, despite their flaws and tempers.
The story compellingly weaves their tempestuous relationship amongst a medieval world filled with jealous lords, fierce fighting and daily life in a keep. The world felt authentic and well-researched, and I had no trouble traveling back into my favourite time period.
As a fan of Elizabeth Chadwick and Diana Gabaldon, I love a story with strong women, handsome men ( alas fictional), and moments of steamy delight. This book did not disappoint and filled the gap.
The plot was kept fresh with moments of action alongside calmer scenes depicting everyday medieval life, and was filled with twists and turns right to the very end.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable read, a great historical fiction novel and was easy to get swept up into. I already have the second book and can’t wait to read it.
