Description

Red, White and Royal Blue meets Formula 1!

Kian Walker has always been the golden boy of motor sport. The four-time Championship winner has racing in his DNA – his father was a legend on the track, just don’t let him catch you comparing the two. As reckless and unreliable at home as he was behind the wheel, there’s nothing Kian wants less than to be just like his dad.

Enter Harper James. This year’s rookie called up to compete with the big boys – and Kian’s new teammate. Cocky, hot-headed and with a reputation for breaking as many hearts as he does new track records, Harper’s the opposite of Kian in every way. But when the season starts, there’s no getting away from him.

This might be one of the most dangerous sports in the world, so why then does Kian’s heart feel safer flying around the track at 220mph than when he's anywhere near his teammate?

Thank you to One More Chapter for giving me the opportunity to read Pole Position by Rebecca J. Caffery via Netgalley!

I was super excited for this book since I heard about it, having grown up watching F1 with my dad. Pole Position follows Kian and Harper as they become teammates following Elijah’s injury, which means Harper replaces him. The angst between these two and their chemistry was off the charts throughout the book! I loved seeing their relationship form and grow, the tension was so high! The spicy scenes were so well written, and they definitely showed the passion that Kian and Harper had for eachother.

I really enjoyed seeing all the racing aspects and the inbetween races, and I loved the fact that there were other elements in the plot other than the growth of their relationship, such as their friendships wirh other drivers and their families. There are quite a few characters, however it is easy to keep up with who is who, and I felt like everyone got enough page time. I do hope that there will be another book where we follow Johannes as I found him to be a really interesting character, and I feel like he should have his story told too!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, I felt like writing flowed well and therefore the book was a good, easy read, full of high emotions of varying degrees. I am giving Pole Position 4.5 stars and I am looking forward to whatever the author comes out with next!

I read "Red, White and Royal Blue meets Formula 1" and I was SOLD. I devoured this book page by page and enjoyed every second of it. When this book comes out, it deserves as much popularity as RWRB. A male main character that's grumpy but isn't a total nuisance? This book has it. Another male main character that's fun but not completely immature? This book has it. A love story as cute as Red, White, and Royal Blue? You guessed it, this book has it. I ate this book up and so did the author. FIVE STARS! Will be reading again during summer when it comes out.

I absolutely loved this book, it was such a heartwarming and light romance and just what I needed!

I love a reformed playboy and Harper fit the bill! Kian was just so loveable even when he was being a grump and as a couple I really liked them!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book and I’ll definitely be looking out for more by this author!

A queer F1 romance with rivals to lovers is everything I’ve been dreaming about!! Yes, I did imagine my favorite drivers as the main characters (I’m delusional). Harper is a rookie who’s been called up to be Kian’s teammate. Kian’s older and way more experienced - they are very much opposite personalities. The forbidden aspect of them being on the same team kept me so invested.

My favorite part of this story was how queerness was presented and spoken about. The characters were both comfortable in their identities and didn’t have any real issues talking about their queerness with their friends and family. In the end, the team was immediately so supportive. I love to see so much acceptance in a male dominated sport, even if it’s fictional. Their relationship and overall character development was so sweet to witness.

F1 girlies add this to your TBR!!

What sets "Pole Position" apart is its ability to capture the electrifying energy of Formula 1 while delving deep into the complex emotions of its characters. As Kian grapples with his insecurities and Harper confronts his own demons, their journey towards love and self-discovery is as captivating as it is heartwarming.

With its dynamic characters, pulse-pounding action, and swoon-worthy romance. Buckle up and prepare for a thrilling ride that will leave you cheering in the stands and rooting for love to take the checkered flag.

When I saw that this book was being recommended for lovers of Red, White and Royal Blue I was immediately intrigued. After finishing it I can confirm that if you are a fan of that book, you will love this one! Instead of politics and royalty though we have F1!

This book has all of the great troped: grumpy x sunshine, reformed playboy, pining, opposites attract. I was swooning, giggling, crying and basically feeling all of the emotions.

Kian is our resident grump. He is at the top of his career, but is one of the oldest. He hates that the media is spreading rumors that he is planning to retire when he is not. On top of this he is dealing with his mother having Parkinson’s and not being able to be there for her and leaving his sister to take care of their mother on her own. As a cherry on top, his best friends and teammate recently got hurt and will not be able to race that season. Enter Harper.

Harper is our goofball playboy who is a commitment phobe. He is a rookie this season and idolizes Kian. These two do not get off to the best start as Kian hates change and Harper is about as opposite from him as you can get. Slowly those those walls are broken, starting when Kian takes care of Harper when he is sick. What starts as an antagonitic relationship turns to one of comfort and love.

The relationship is not all easy sailing though. Whenever things start to get serious, Harper instantly pulls away but always comes back sweeter than before. This starts to wear away at Kian who is ready to fully commit. We learn that Harper is the way that he is because of his abandonment issues stemming from his past, but he works through it to be with Kian. When Kian needs him most, Harper drops everything for his to be there, even when they are not on the best of terms.

This was a really great book set in the work of F1. I loved the dynamics between the two and the story as a whole. the plot, characters and spice were all so great.

Thank you to One More Chapter and Rebecca J. Caffery for an e-arc via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was promised “Red, White and Royal Blue” meets Formula 1 and it’s exactly what I got and I’m so happy about it! It was fast-paced, hilarious and swoony with two main characters you can’t help but root for in spite of all their flaws that compliment each other so perfectly.

I enjoyed Caffrey’s previous novel “Olympic Enemies” but k struggled with the pacing of the main couple’s relationship but here with Kian and Harper the pacing was perfect— I enjoyed the tension between them with their rivalry with their sexual tension and then later when their relationship blossomed into more. It was just such an enjoyable and easy read that kept me entranced from the first page and I devoured so quickly. The banter was really fun without being too petty or immature, and their adorable moments just made me swoon!

This is perfect for fans of “Heated Rivalry” by Rachel Reid and “Red White and Royal Blue” by Casey McQuinston!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

Pole Position is the first M/M romance I've read so I can't really comment to much on that as I don't have anything to compare it to but I was hooked from the start and loved every minute of it 💕

Kain and Harper are definitely opposites of each other Kain's grumpy, likes routine and straight to the point while Harper is like an excited puppy that's the only way I can describe him. Both characters go through a lot of hurdles through the book, watching them get through it all and come out on top just made it that much better, I actually wish this book was longer!

This review is hard to write I can't seem to find the right words or even try to explain how I feel about the book but all in all I highly recommend so save the date!
