A thoroughly enjoyable quick read about life in occupied France.

I like that this book started before the occupation as it gave us a chance to get to know the characters. They felt real and believable. I loved seeing how Nicole matured as the book progressed, and how her bravery and love for her country shone through.

As with most WW2 books there were desperately sad moments, but they add to the realism of a book set in that period.

I'll definitely be looking for more of Andrée's books in future.

France, war and a young British woman named Nicole. Separated from her family she finds herself having to make her own decisions. This is a story of hope, courage and putting up the fight of your life.

A great read that has wonderful characters and is well written and easy to read. The story flows well and you can just imagine how life would have been under these circumstances. I got into this book from page one adn didn't want to put it down. It gripped me from the start and that is what I like about a good book.

Nicole came across as a very strong and courageous woman but you could also feel her vulnerabilities as well. That is great writing and made this story more realistic for sure. Really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend.

A gripping story of a young woman standing up for her friends and family in occupied France during WWII. The tale follows Nicole through her time in the war, the efforts she took to survive.

I thought the use of France in the World War 2 element worked with this story. The characters were everything that I wanted in this time-period and was glad I got to get to know them in this universe. Andrée Rushton has a great writing style and I was hooked from the first page. I hope to read more from Andrée Rushton as I really enjoyed this book.

I read a lot of books about WW2. I really liked this one, it was full of younger characters. Some romance, which was very normal. Many friends, and a little dog. Nicole was separated from her family, and found a new family, they were Jewish.
Since this is set in WW2, many characters died and many things changed.
I liked this because it was about women in the resistance, and the found families.
Nicole really grew up so much, it was very nice to learn.

Thank you for this book.
