Description

In Fall for Him by Andie Burke, seven-hundred-fifty square feet isn’t enough for the home-renovation-fueled hatred and the building sexual tension.

Dylan Gallagher’s hot neighbor loathed him from the second he moved in, and causing a flood, falling through the floor, and landing directly onto that same neighbor’s bed probably means that’s unlikely to change. The poorly timed “It’s Raining Men” joke didn’t help.

Meanwhile, ER nurse Derek Chang’s life is a literal when-rains-it-pours nightmare. A man he hates dropped into his life along with an astronomically expensive problem originating from Derek’s own apartment’s plumbing. Also, the local HOA tyrant has been sniffing around trying to fine him for his extended, illicit banned breed dog-sitting.

Since Dylan also wants to keep the catastrophe quiet, he offers to fix the damage himself. Dylan’s sure he’s not Derek’s type, so he focuses all his ADHD hyper fixation energy on getting the repair job done as quickly as possible—avoiding doing anything stupid like acting on his very inconvenient crush. Meanwhile Derek tries to ignore that the tattooed nerd sleeping on the couch is surprisingly witty, smart, and kind, despite the long-term grudge Derek’s been holding against him. But will squeezing all their emotional baggage plus a dog into a tiny one-bedroom apartment be a major disaster…or just prove they’re made for each other?

Fall for Him combines banter, hijinks, and heart in a story of finding out what it means to fix things after your life crumbles.

Dylan’s neighbor has disliked him since he moved in, and accidentally falling on top of him in the middle of the night probably didn’t help much either. Now the two of them (plus a very large dog) are stuck sharing a very small apartment while renovations are being done. The two of them are going to have to get along somehow.
After reading this authors first book, I’ve been anxiously awaiting Derek’s book. And here it is! I didn’t think that this book could be as good as it was, and I didn’t think I could be as obsessed with Andie Burke’s books as I am. So win win, I guess. I’m probably going to be spending the next year or so just anxiously awaiting what she releases next because it’s bound to be amazing.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Griffin for an eARC of this book.

Fall For Him is a wonderful novel that I found so much of myself in both Dylan and Derek. Who knew that I could feel like both of the main characters?
When Dylan quite *literally* falls for Derek (through the ceiling), I knew that I would love these characters. Both have an amazing support system whether it be their families or their friends, you can tell that they are loved, even when they feel like they may not deserve it.
I loved this story for so many reasons, but mostly for the emotions it made me feel. It made me laugh and it also made me sob.
Burke knows how to pull on heartstrings and does it well.

I adored this book from start to finish. I felt so immersed in both Derek and Dylan as individual characters, and their shared story. They were well-developed, nunaced characters dealing with their own shit, but none of that got overlooked or forgotten throughout their romance. I was also incredibly charmed by all the side characters, and appreciated that they had an active role throughout the book and added depth, as opposed to just passively existing.

If you are looking for a witty, charming, and sweet story, this is it. As soon as I finished the epliogue, I was ready to flip back to page one and start all over again.

From a collapsed ceiling to driving each other up a wall, Derek and Dylan’s relationship gets off to a rough start. But watching their love grow in Fall For Him makes for a delightful journey full of unforgettable characters. Andie Burke is the queen of disastrously perfect meet-cutes and meaningful reflections on trauma and healing. I can’t wait to read whatever she writes next.

4.5 stars. I absolutely loved this enemies-to-lovers rom-com that actually delivers on the comedy and made me laugh out loud multiple times. This book starts off with Dylan literally falling through the ceiling into the bed of his downstairs neighbor Dylan. Sort of a meet-cute meets disaster. Romance novel circumstances ultimately force them to cohabitate as they try to hide apartment repairs and a dog from their nosy neighbor. What on earth could end up happening?

The banter is this was top-notch and somehow ended up making me kind of cry at the end? I loved the way this slow-burn romance unfolded and all of the great side characters. I think I read this whole thing in a couple of sittings while on vacation, which was perfect. I can't wait to go back and read this author's debut and, hopefully, the many future books to come!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this so so much. After reading (and loving) Olive & Stella’s story in Fly With Me, I knew to expect to love this one, but it still surprised me in the best way. We get to revisit Olive through her best friend Derek and his enemies to lovers upstairs neighbor, Dylan. The grief representation was top notch and I loved every word of this story.

FALL FOR HIM by @andiewritesalot is a stunning romcom & follow-up to her debut, FLY WITH ME. it’s a story about how messy healing from past traumas can be & how even the most imperfect versions of ourselves are deserving of love.

it’s full of heart & made me laugh out loud. ♡

also as someone who was recently diagnosed with ADHD it brings me so much joy & comfort to read love stories with characters that have ADHD because getting to see them get their happily ever after gives me so much hope :'))

We had the chance to read Fly With Me as an arc, which we loved, and was so excited to see her new book “Fall for Him” being release! This was such a fun, flirty, and sweet m/m romance 🥰 I feel that Andie is really coming into her own as an author and I can’t wait to see what she releases next!

Before I begin, I would like to thank Andie Burke for allowing me to read a NetGalley ARC of her upcoming book, Fall for Him, which will be available on September 3rd, 2024.

Dylan Gallagher doesn’t know why his handsome neighbor has hated him since Dylan moved in, but he is sure that causing a flood and falling through the floor into said neighbor’s bed won’t do him any favors. On the other hand, ER nurse Derek Chang not only hates Dylan, but now he has to deal with expensive plumbing repairs that came with Derek’s apartment from the beginning. Not to mention the HOA dictator of the apartment complex is trying to punish him for watching a dog that is not on the list of approved dog breeds for a very long time. Dylan offers to do the repairs himself and tries his best to ignore any feelings he gets to avoid making the situation worse. Derek is trying to ignore the fact that maybe Dylan isn’t as awful as he originally thought from things he gathered in the past. Can they care for a dog and complete renovations without wanting to kill each other? Better yet, what if the thing they are looking forward to ending is the start of a new beginning?

I absolutely loved this book. You have Dylan, a kind and talented young man that has practice in construction. You have Derek, a grumpy ER nurse that is protective of his friends and wary of committing to a romantic relationship. Gus was adorable. Loved Felicity, Olive and Joni were delightful. I loved the ADHD representation, found family, and the chaos that took place in this love story. Did Derek and Dylan make mistakes? Absolutely, but so does everyone. I thought their banter was fantastic, and their insecurities and reactions to those insecurities were relatable. Overall, if you like wonderful banter, found family, complex characters, chaos, cute dogs, neurodivergent representation, LGBTQ+ representation, romance, and lots of spice, then I would highly recommend this book.
