Description
Sometimes you’re so busy writing other people’s stories that you lose the plot of your own.
This wasn’t how Kelsey Worthington’s day was supposed to go. She wasn’t supposed to be picking up Starbucks for her smarmy boss. She wasn’t supposed to get hit by a car that jumped the curb. And she certainly wasn’t supposed to wake up in a hospital room next to Georgina Tate—the legendary matriarch of New York City businesswomen.
Kelsey and Georgina couldn’t be more opposite. Kelsey’s a dreamer, a writer who questions her own skill. And Georgina is a confident businesswoman whose years of shouldering her way into boardrooms and making her voice heard have made her far too outspoken for the faint of heart.
But now, when Georgina’s failing kidneys force her to face some big regrets about the way she’s lived her life, the two women recognize they share a common thread. Maybe it’s time to confront a few things. They must ask themselves: What if I said yes to everything I’ve always said no to?
With Georgina as her companion, Kelsey soon finds herself doing things she’s never done before. Eating street food. Swimming in the ocean. Matchmaking for Georgina with the help of Georgina’s handsome son. And writing her own romance—both in book form and in real life.
So begins the Summer of Yes.
- Stand-alone novel
- Perfect for fans of Denise Hunter and Rachel Linden

Just say YES...to reading this book! 😝
I feel like I say this about all her books that I've read.... but Ahhhhhh! I loved it!! 😍
Not only was it a great story, but it was so uplifting and encouraging. It really makes you think about the things you say yes or no too. Mostly no's 🫣 Makes you want to be brave. Be bold. Do the thing(s) that scare you!
I really enjoyed the characters and the different POVs. They both have excellent character growth in their own ways. Kelsey was a little....annoying in her nosiness, but it could be because that's not my personality at all lol. Still a perfectly likeable character! Georgina! What an attitude she's got! And you can't help but love her and hope she gets her happy ending. Loved all the snark from her, and even some from Kelsey.
I don't want to give anything else away about this book. While it had some heavy-ish topics, it was uplifting and beautiful. I highly recommend this (and any of her books)!

What a delightful book! I fell in love with all the characters, and I loved the adventure between the young gal and the older woman as they explored life and learned from each other.
It had a happy ending without being sappy which can be time be hard to find
Highly recommended!
Thank you Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the ARC of this Courtney Walsh book "The Summer of Yes". For me this book was a total "YES"! It was a heartwarming story of taking back one's life and making an unexpected friendship along the way. Kelsey Worthington's life is all work and no play. She has fallen into a pattern of saying "no" to anything remotely social or fun. Then a traumatic accident and the chance meeting of a grumpy elderly woman changes the trajectory of both their lives. Georgina Tate is a powerful head of her namesake cosmetic company with a secret of her own. She worked her way to the top in the business world, but made some life-altering sacrifices in the process. Together Kelsey & Georgina enter into a journey to put their lives back into perspective and reclaim the fun. They set off to experience a Summer of Yes together. I loved the main characters and their witty banter. Georgina is a hoot! There is a touch of sweet romance along the way too.
This book will make for the perfect summer beach read!
I have never given women’s fiction a chance or even a second thought, because those types of stories don’t interest me in any sort of way. But this cover was so beautiful, and I was like, how bad can it be? And oh my goodness, if you can’t already tell by my 5 star rating, I absolutely loved every minute of this book!
The writing, the plot, the characters, the relationships, the romance. Perfection. It is filled with hope, love, forgiveness, saying yes, and second chances. The whole ‘Summer of Yes’ was so eye opening and made me contemplate my own life. Am I doing what brings me joy? Are my relationships with family and friends strong? Am I getting out of my comfort zone, saying yes to things I normally wouldn’t?
I didn’t think we would be getting tons of romance, and I mean that isn’t the main focus, but the romance that we did get was beautiful and tender, and I ate up every moment that Hayden and Kelsey were together. I even enjoyed Georgina’s side of the story, which I thought I wouldn’t. She was a cranky old woman, but when you get her POV, it gives you an empathetic understanding. And her silver fox? Yes please.
Putting the romance aside, the relationship between each character was just ugh, so sweet. Especially Georgina and Kelsey’s relationship. I felt a deep connection to both women. And I truly think all women can relate to them, in their own way.
I just have to say, I never get emotional when I read. Ever. And I cried 3 times! I literally felt every emotion possible throughout this book. It was such a powerful, beautiful story that I am so glad I took a chance on, and I think y’all should too.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

this book took me on a emotional roll coaster ride.
this isn’t a typical love story. it’s also about friends and family and everything that comes with it. this made me realize that you’ll actually miss out a lot when you’re afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
This is a great self discovery friendship novel. Perfect for a summer read and for book clubs. The characters are delightful. It is a book that immerses you and makes you think of the relationships in your life. So fun.
I loved this book so much. I wanted to know how it all played out but also never wanted it to end. It made me feel all of the emotions and shed some tears. It was SO good!! I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could!!

The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh is the perfect book for everyone who has ever wondered how one decision has changed the course of their life. While running errands for her boss, Kelsey is in a car accident that lands her in the hospital. Her roommate ends up being her polar opposite, an older business woman with regrets of her own. Together, they embark on a mission to rewrite their stories and rewrite their regrets. A feel good story of an unusual friendship that changed both of their lives.
Another wonderful read from Courtney Walsh! I was hooked on the main characters right away. The personality differences between the two had me hooked. This was a really positive read throughout and it was refreshing to have so much joy in one novel. Thank you for the ARC!
Thank you NetGalley, Courtney Walsh, and Thomas Nelson Publishing for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
THIS BOOK IS SO AMAZING AND SWEET! I loved all of the characters and their journeys in life and how one person had such a profound impact on all of them. Saying yes to things you'd often say no too was also a powerful component to this story of self discovery, love, and forgiveness. Such a sweet read! I cant wait to read more by this author.

The characters were lovable and I loved the different POVs. The friendship between Georgina and Kelsey is so beautiful. There is also a sweet romance.
I highly recommend this book. It's perfect if you want an uplifting story.
And remember ... just say YES! (Also to reading this book. I promise you, it's worth it.)
I love Courtney books. This is a great book. Kelsey is a junior editor who wants to be a writer. She gets hit by a car and ends up in a room with Georgina a well known business woman who has failing kidneys. Kelsey decides to do a yes summer where she says yes to all the things she said no to. She talks Georgina into going with her and they build a great relationship. There is renewed love and new love along the way and forgiveness.
A delightful story about seizing the moment and discovering oneself. When Kelsey's ordinary day turns into something extraordinary, she finds herself alongside the formidable Georgina Tate. Despite their differences, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, learning to say "yes" to life's opportunities. Filled with relatable characters and inspiring messages about courage and love, this is a feel-good read that will leave you smiling and motivated to embrace life's adventures.
The Summer of Yes is a heartwarming and inspiring story about two women who learn to embrace life and live with no regrets. Kelsey and Georgina are both relatable characters who go on a transformative journey together. The book is full of humor, friendship, and romance, making it a perfect read for anyone looking for a feel-good story. You should say yes to this one!
Thank you netgalley and Courtney Walsh for the arc of this book.
Kelsey gets hit by a car and wakes up in the hospital Georgina has liver failure and will die if she doesn’t get a new liver but she has a rare blood type and tissue. They meet at the hospital as the hospital put them in the same room together. After the accident Kelsey decides she needs to say yes more to things she normally wouldn’t. She usually just works. So she goes back to the hospital to try to talk Georgina into joining her. Very reluctantly Georgina agrees. At first they just do things in nyc they haven’t done before but then Kelsey has other plans that she doesn’t tell Georgina about. This is a book about love, hope and forgiveness both Kelsey and Georgina grow a lot along the way. I absolutely recommend reading this book.
It was cold and snowy when I requested this book from @netgalley and yes, I judged this one by its cover. As soon as my request was approved, it magically turned 75 degrees and sunny! Signs are everywhere if we stop and take the time to appreciate them. When a serious accident lands Kelsey in the hospital, the universe sends her a roommate notable for her accomplishments. I could absolutely close my eyes and imagine women like Georgina who have come into my life and absolutely inspired me in a life-altering way. Sometimes it takes a little (or big) life shake-up to remind us to take a step back and see the bigger picture. The Summer of Yes is an absolute beautiful and inspiring book that reminds us that instead of a yes day, we need the yes life we are worthy of!
Review is posted on Goodreads and will be on Instagram later in March!

This novel was really cute!! I loved the relationship between Kelsey and Georgina, but the relationships for all of the characters were realistic and incredibly well-written!
It is a love story, but it deals with a lot more than that. It talks about finding yourself, the value of relationships, the importance of caring for others and yourself.
It’s also the perfect length. Nothing really dragged, it was all done really well! I would definitely recommend this book!
I found this book to be enjoyable with a good flow that captured my attention throughout the story. I typically am more into thrillers; however this fictional novel kept me entertained and was a page turner. It is a positive book about friendship and love. I felt like I was with them in the adventure and enjoyed the ride. Say YES to this read :)
I absolutely ADORED this book! It had everything that I could ask for in a Courtney Walsh book. The characters were well developed and I found myself staying up way past my bedtime to sneak a few more chapters in. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this amazing book! I will definitely be sharing it with all of my fellow book lovers!
such a great feel good book about friendship and some hardships. i found myself smiling all throughout this book. excellent work!!!!
I am obsessed with Courtney Walsh. I've not read a book from her that has been less than 5 stars and this was no different.
Kelsey meets her icon Georgina after she lands in the hospital. While both MCs are very different, considering the generational gap, they realize each has something to teach the other. A road trip brings Georgina to her past while helping Kelsey realize a new future. This story was uplifting, wholesome, sweet, and heartwarming. It was a story of second chances for both MCs. I laughed and cried.
You will get witty banter, unexpected friendships, second chances, and encouragement to just say YES. It truly made me think if I was living my life to its fullest potential and not letting anything hold me back.
Say YES to this book on July 2, 2024.
Kelsey Worthington is a junior editor, leading a life of routine until a near-death experience shakes her to the core. In the hospital, she meets Georgina Tate, a successful businesswoman facing her own mortality. Inspired by Georgina's regrets and determined to live life to the fullest, Kelsey embarks on a journey of saying yes to new experiences. Thus, The Yes Plan is born, leading them on adventures filled with joy, forgiveness, and unexpected connections.
Where do I even begin? This book had me in tears—in the best possible way. It's a story that tugs at your heartstrings, filled with themes of love, forgiveness, and the courage to embrace life's uncertainties. I found myself rooting for Kelsey and Georgina, cheering them on as they navigated their Summer of Yes and discovered the beauty of living fearlessly.
What I loved most about "The Summer of Yes" was its ability to evoke a range of emotions. From moments of joy and hope to instances of love and forgiveness, Courtney Walsh beautifully captures the essence of human connection. The characters were incredibly relatable, and their growth throughout the story was both inspiring and heartwarming.
With a blend of contemporary fiction and romance, "The Summer of Yes" is a book that leaves a lasting impression. It encourages readers to reflect on their own lives and consider the power of saying yes to new adventures. So, if you're looking for a feel-good read that will leave you uplifted and inspired, mark your calendars for its release on 7/2/2024. Trust me—you won't want to miss it!
Big thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for providing my an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and freely given.
I received this as an ARC from Net Galley. I’ve read several of her other books and was curious about this one. Perfect quick summer read! Brought tears to my eyes at the end. Loved it and it was hard to put down! Definitely needs added to everyone’s summer to be read list.
I am beginning to think that Courtney Walsh is able to read minds from a long distance. She’s in Illinois and I’m in California, but once again she’s crafted a story that resonates in my heart and soul.
When I turned 55 I chose to have a year of doing things I’d never done before. Little things like coloring my hair to big things like going to a gun range.
It was freeing and fun and exhilarating. And then I went back into my shell and have been there for the last few years.
So I totally fell in love with Kelsey. And Georgina. And I love a man quite a lot like Dylan, and have a son who has the same kind of heart as Hayden.
I laughed, I cried, and at one point had to stop reading because I couldn’t see through my tears. Just like Isadora Bentley, she’s captured what it is to want to live authentically, with joy, a little risk, and a whole lot of yes.
My thanks to the publisher for an advance copy. My review is honest and has not been solicited.
Just say YES to this book! I love anything by Courtney Walsh because I can always count on a fun, uplifting read and this is no exception. I love the friendship between Kelsey and Georgina is sweet and inspiring. This book has a fun romance, but to me the focus on friendships and loving life to the fullest was a nice change of pace.
This is a great read anytime, but really perfect for summer. I can't wait to read again this summer!
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for this arc. All opinions are my own.

Kelsey Worthington wakes up in the hospital after being hit by a car while she was walking to work. After her near-death experience she realizes that in her thirty-two years of life, she's never done anything remarkable. She's trying to work her way up in the publishing world, but because she works so hard, she's neglected her actual life.
Georgina Tate is the founder of Tate Cosmetics and is a legend to businesswomen in New York. Her kidneys are failing, and she is waiting to die, filled with regret about her life's choices. She gave up her family to become the successful businesswoman she aspired to be. She's seventy-five years old and is all alone.
The two women end up in the same hospital room and realize that they have some things in common. They both valued their jobs over living their lives. Kelsey has a revelation after talking with her mom and realizes that her life is lackluster because of all the times she chose to say no to opportunities. So, the two women decide to ask themselves "What if I said yes to everything I usually say no to?" They embark on the summer of yes.
This book was moving and powerful. I laughed out loud at times, and at others, I had tears streaming down my face. I found the writing to be thought provoking and inspiring. "Life... is good. And wonderful. And horrible, and beautiful, and messy, and everything all at once. And that is the beauty of it. It's overwhelming, but it's never boring. And it should be lived to the fullest." This is one of those books that is going to stay with me forever.
Summer of Yes is officially one of my favorite books! The story is sweet and enduring and has so many real life applications! I found myself being able to apply so many lessons from this fictional story to my real life. It was almost as if there was a non fiction book buried within but told in a fun way that made it not feel like work. Go out and get this book!
Wonderful book! I could not put the book down once I began reading it. Excited for it to be released. I will recommend it to everyone I know!
This delightful, heartwarming story got my attention from the very beginning. Having read many books by this author, I have learned her characters always draw me right in from the very beginning. They are relatable, lovable and often have a delightful sense of humor.
The day Kelsey walked out of Starbucks and was hit by a car on the sidewalk was life-changing. Kelsey ended up in the hospital for several days and was thankful to be alive. She ends up with an unexpected roommate, Georgina Tate, well-known for her very successful Tate Cosmetics. Georgina is not happy to have a roommate, however there were no single rooms available.
Georgina is a wealthy, powerful woman, who gave up everything, including her family, to focus on building her cosmetic company. She is accustomed to having things go her way, she also has very few friends and work is her main focus in life. In order to even talk and visit with her roommate, Kelsey is asked by Georgina’s assistant to sign a standard nondisclosure ensuring she won’t tell anyone Georgina is in the hospital.
Although Kelsey aspires to be a writer, she is an editor at a New York publishing company. She pretty much keeps to herself except for work. She has few friends and she likes it that way. She mainly says yes to work, and no to everything else.
When she gets out of the hospital, Kelsey makes an important decision to quit saying no and to spend the summer saying yes. That includes attending a family dinner of her best friend, who she usually says no to; trying new food; and she is determined to take the famous, wealthy Georgina Tate along with her on a summer of saying yes. Georgina hasn’t seen her husband or son for twenty years because she was so absorbed in building her business, they eventually moved away.
Although Georgina has a serious health condition that could cut her life short at any time, Kelsey manages to coerce her to join her on a road trip. Although Georgina starts out unenthusiastically, Georgina’s life is about to take a new turn, right along with Kelsey’s. Both of them learn that it can be a lonely place when you always say no and it is risky to say yes to the unknown, however, the rewards are far greater.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.
This book was so much fun. Between the relationships and the banter and the New York City setting, I just had a great time reading this. It was touching and funny, and I loved it.

"Say yes, It could change your life."
Courtney Walsh has knocked it out of the park again. This is probably my favorite of hers to date. They just keep getting better and better. It felt a little fake at the beginning that these two people with their two different medical conditions would be placed in a hospital room together but after that the book really took off. I am so glad that everyone in this book got a happy ever after. It was so sweet and endearing. I loved all the characters and I can just picture Meryl Streep playing Georgina if this was a movie.
An absolute 10. Perfect book, it made me laugh, cry, feel. I loved it. I want to reread it already! The writing was brilliant, characters were loveable, plot was believable, endearing, hilarious, and delightful. I LOVE this book!!!!

A heartwarming story about how life’s unpredictability can lead to self discovery, overcoming fears, and mending of our most important relationships. Kelsey and Georgina find friendship in the unlikeliest of places, and it leads them on an adventure of a lifetime.
Quite honestly, I struggled with the first 30% of this book. But soon after, the characters really started to capture me, and as the story built, I couldn’t put it down. So if you are unsure, keep going!
Lastly, this author plays in a few different genres. If you’re looking for a romance novel, this isn’t it. This leans much more women’s fiction/chick-lit with a hint of a love interest and an HEA.
📚Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction and Courtney Walsh for the ARC of The Summer of Yes.
What an inspiring story about love, friendship, forgiveness, and second chances. I absolutely love Walsh’s writing style and the banter between Georgina and Kelsey had me cackling. The relationship they formed was so wholesome. I was smiling throughout this one and it was hard to put down. It was atmospheric and the coastal setting had me craving a summer getaway.
I truly loved everything about this book and Courtney Walsh has easily become a favorite author of mine. This one will have you reflecting and wanting to live life to the fullest. Also the cover just makes me so happy 🥹
The Summer of Yes will be out on July 2nd - just in time to add to your summer reading list! 💛
Thank you NetGalley & Thomas Nelson Fiction for this ARC!
This story of an unlikely friendship is such a wonderful story! I couldn't put it down! Kelsey is the woman we all can identify with--a good life that going well, but not a great life that's full of risks and adventures and great rewards. Meeting Georgina is a most unconventional way gives this book the twist that turns it into such a great adventure as we go along with them on a summer of never saying no. Their adventure in New York is laugh out loud funny and, although there's more to Georgina (that's all I'll say so I don't give anything away!) than what I expected, it only makes the two women's friendship stronger and their Summer of Yes that much more special. Highly recommend this book!
I loved absolutely everything about this book. I thought that there was no way that this could live up to my first Courtney Walsh book (Isadora Bentley) but it absolutely did. I loved the characters and their development throughout the novel, I loved the plot, and I didn't want this book to end. Add this to your summer reading list!!!
Thank you to Netgalley, Courtney Walsh, and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Kelsey and Georgina meet under random circumstances— both in the hospital sharing a room. From the outside looking in, Georgina has the perfect life. She’s a strong woman who has accomplished much, but her personal life is a mess. Kelsey has been hit by a car that jumps the curb but miraculously she is given a second chance at life. Both Georgina and Kelsey can embrace a life of yeses— but will they?
This book made me tear up and laugh. Highly recommended.
This book is about saying ‘Yes’ to chances including romance, work and relationships. Two women meet while roommates in a hospital. Kelsey has had near death experience and Georgina is seriously ill. Kelsey convinces Georgina to go on a road trip and so the story begins. The chatter between Georgina and Kelsey is funny and healing for them both. Both are masters of pushing the right buttons. Romance, second chances and a new future ensue. I thoroughly enjoyed saying Yes to this book.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Paperback for an early read in exchange for a fair review.
Starts right out of the gate, in the best of ways! Georgina is simultaneously the woman you love to hate but hate to love. She’s so steeped in regrets and hides behind the very thick, powerful and successful wall she’s built. Kelsey, freshly after a second chance, is just starting to her view herself through the same lens as Georgina. And she’s determined to not only shake it up, but take Georgina on her Summer of Yes adventure. Some are simple, everyday moments where a choice is intentionally made to do something different. Others are monumental with life altering outcomes.
Reading Kelsey’s question as she’s re-evaluating everything and asking if it’s all been worth it definitely struck a chord. When did I lose that sense of wonder? Will it set your soul on fire? What are your disrupters? Is it worth it? I loved the audacity of Kelsey when she found her voice. And the verbal sparring between these two women had me laughing out loud. More than that though, they push and challenge each other. They speak hard truths neither wants to hear and they both become stronger as a result.
This is a feel good story because of the perfectly placed wit, but don’t be mistaken, this is not a light read. It deeply challenged me and had me asking myself some hard questions. In the end, I am thankful and encourage anyone who is reflecting, bored, stuck, or wondering about next steps to read this.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
THE SUMMER OF YES by COURTNEY WALSH is a besutifully written and most enjoyable romance novel, full of humourous repartee and delightful characters.
When Kelsey Worthington wakes up in hospital to find the irate Georgina Tate, with her haughty attitude and acerbic remarks, her life changes. Georgina is a famous business woman who is dying of liver failure, and as Kelsey uncovers Georgina’s regrets, she finds she herself is full of fear and worry which is stopping her from living life to the full and that she could easily end up like Georgina with similar regrets. As Georgina says to her when Kelsey is trying to get her to join her on a road trip, saying yes to everything to which she has always said no, “ Stop pouring all of your attention into my life and what you think is wrong with it and start facing yout own.”……
Leaving New York behind them they travel to Driftwood where Georgina’s husband Dylan and their son Hayden live, and where Kelsey says yes to things that terrified her in the past, and where her creativity is slowly restored…..
It is a story of restoration, unconditional love, forgiveness and second chances, in which we are reminded that “We all need someone to believe in us.”
This is a lovely read that really touched my heart and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
I love Courtney Walsh books! And The Summer of Yes did not disappoint! I have personally had my own Year of Yes (for different reasons!) so it was a fun idea to
It was romantic, inspiring, encouraging, and so much more! Pick this book up - you will not regret it!
Another Courtney Walsh book, another 5 star read for me! I had the best time reading this one!
I just love Courtney Walsh’s writing! It’s always uplifting and makes me laugh and have fun while reading, while also sharing depth and growth. The characters, relationships, banter, saying yes to things you usually wouldn’t, second chances, forgiveness, and romance were all wonderful in this one! Is Hayden a new book boyfriend? Duh! 😂 I also loved the references to “how readers might think” if it was a romance book. 😆
The Hunger Games reference was another highlight for me, and it was fun that part of it was set in North Carolina too!
Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction, and Courtney Walsh for the eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 😊
Wow. Every now and then a book comes along that is so delicious and fulfilling that it is tantamount to chocolate ice cream or perhaps prime rib, or better yet, chocolate ice cream and prime rib. Everything about this Courtney Walsh novel inspired, convicted, and enthralled me.
“Was it worth it?” asks thirty-something Kelsey who has just escaped a near-death experience. She asks the question of Georgina – the richest, most successful – and dying woman in the country. Georgina is powerful, cruel, and unhappy and is forced into sharing a hospital room with Kelsey. Kelsey is driven and solely focused on success and because of her accident has acquired a sense of boldness.
So, “Was it worth it?” becomes the question to be answered. Is success more important than love, friendship, and family? Kelsey wants to know before she spends the rest of her existence saying no to fun, relationships, and long-buried dreams. Searching for the answer, Kelsey gets Georgina to reluctantly try to experience life differently.
This book deeply affected me in many good ways. I am closer to Georgina’s age, I chased after fame and fortune for a long time in my life. And made lots of mistakes while doing so. Many of us probably have similar stories. And my younger friends in the midst of trying to forge perfect lives, are staggering under the weight of expectations from their families, the culture, and the world. It is a lot to shoulder when you are twenty, or thirty or forty. And looking back in time – I find myself thinking, did I try hard enough, or did I settle? Did I let fear keep me from what I really wanted? What would have happened if I had made different choices? These are big questions and Ms. Walsh deftly, gently, and sometimes crushingly takes her characters, whom we have grown to love and identify with, through them all.
The Summer of Yes could be a life-altering read for someone at nearly any stage of life. Did I mention that there was plenty of lovely romance woven throughout? That is the sumptuous dessert for this delicious feast. It will be a meal you will want to savor, and certainly one you won’t forget.

Here's to saying yes!
I loved this book and the whole idea of it reminded me of the move 'the bucket list'. Just like that movie it moved me, made me laugh and i loved it.
I love how the story follows not just Kelsey but also Georgina in her journey of saying yes to things for a summer. This way you get two storylines that are connected seamlessly. I thought the book dealt perfectly with some heavy themes people experience in day to day life and i think the author portrayed that struggle really well.
I think there is also a message to learn from this book: say yes more often! Life is too short to be missing out on vacations or dinner with friends bc you are working. At the end of the day it's the friends and family you make along the way that will be there for you
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!
It's a cute, endearing heartwarming, 'coming-of-the-age' tale about two women in different stages of life discovering romance, careers, and priorities.
I loved every character. Kelsey and Georgina are amazing. Hayden and Dylan are so cute. Ravi, Sasha, JP, and Kelsey's mom are great supporting characters. I like how they're all explored just enough to make you love them.
The romance is on point. The background stories and settings are perfect. The writing is captivating and sets a nice pace.
I have no complaints about this book.
If you're looking for a light, short summer read, say yes to this book.
Recommended to anyone who wants a Hallmark-worthy moviesque rom-com book.
Please tell me there's going to be another sequel.
This book is evidence as to at the time of an event that would be classified as a disruptor actually turns your life in a positive direction as to one can realize what true happiness and love looks like. Before this event happened to Kelsey, she lived in a sterile colorless world contrary to the vibrancy of New York City as all she did was go back and forth from her office to her apartment. Even the table in her apartment was an unopened box. Then the event happened and Georgina came into her life. Most importantly, she realized that it was time to say yes when her impulse was to say no. She let fear and the need to be liked supersede what made her happy. This turn of events made her hope for a change. Therefore, her and Georgina embarked on this adventure even though Georgina fought her with every step. There was no stopping the power of saying yes. Because of that, Kelsey found love with Hayden and Georgina rekindled hers with Dylan. A truly heartwarming and inspiring book as to what can occur when you hope for something you deserve.
Just say YES...to this heartwarming story of courage, growth, and second chances in this captivating read! It has the perfect blend of humor, heart, and relatable moments. 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕊𝕦𝕞𝕞𝕖𝕣 𝕠𝕗 𝕐𝕖𝕤 left me feeling uplifted and empowered. I absolutely loved it.

Kelsey’s and Georgina’s lives collide in an unusual way. Despite their contrasting, strong-willed personalities, they embark on a journey of self-discovery as they grapple with their pasts. Through dual POV you’ll witness Kelsey’s and Georgina’s personal transformations as they navigate through life’s challenges and learn valuable lessons along the way about love, family, forgiveness, friendship, and the power of saying YES (and no 😊). You’ll discover the magic of stepping out of your comfort zone, embracing the unknown, and facing your fears head-on.

Prepare to be captivated by the irresistible charm of "The Summer of Yes" by Courtney Walsh. From the moment I cracked open its pages, I was swept away by the allure of the characters and the enchanting storyline.
Walsh has crafted a cast of characters that leap off the page, each one unique and unforgettable. From the determined and relatable Kelsey to the endearing supporting cast, I found myself deeply invested in their journeys, rooting for them every step of the way.
What truly sets this novel apart is its ability to keep readers hooked from start to finish. I found myself unable to set the book down, compelled to uncover the twists and turns of the plot as they unfolded. Kelsey's transformative journey, sparked by a single idea, resonated with me on a profound level, reminding me of the power we each hold to change not only our own lives but the lives of those around us.
In "The Summer of Yes," Courtney Walsh weaves a tale of hope, growth, and the transformative power of saying yes to life's possibilities. This heartwarming story is sure to linger in your thoughts long after you've turned the final page.
Say YES to this one!
I love when a book is both uplifting and funny! Reading should feel good in your soul & that's what Courtney Walsh brings. Her vibe in this book is inspirational, yet light & fun. For me, the characters were wonderful & I especially loved the interactions between Kelsey & Georgina. They drove each other crazy, but ultimately pushed each other out of comfort zones & towards positive changes. The romance was very sweet, as were the family bonds that were so beautifully rekindled after much heartbreak. The writing is clean, witty and creative! Many laugh out loud moments for me as I read. Bravo to Walsh on another wonderful novel!
Perfect summer read! A book about a workaholic experiencing a near death experience and using that to go on a "Summer of Yes" adventure which leads to reconciliations, learning to love life, and taking more risk when it comes to relationships. Between the banter, and the emotional conversations, Walsh really pulls on heart strings of readers!
The Summer of Yes is a wholesome read by Courtney Walsh. It is refreshing to see a young and older woman female friendship pairing. In this regard, part of the book had some modern Thelma and Louise vibes meets a Devil Wears Prada dynamic (except Georgina is certainly not as icy as Miranda Priestly). Walsh balances the seriousness of medical scenarios with the small-town romance perfectly. Sometimes changing points of view often can make a read feel more tedious or confusing, but the alternating character perspectives were wonderful for this story. I will be recommending it to the Swoonworthy Magazine audience.
This is now the second book I have read from Courtney Walsh and I am absolutely obsessed with her writing. The banter that she can write between her characters is top notch! At first with this book when I got the POV of Georgina I was a little thrown off and up to 30-35% I was very confused on where this book was going to go. THEN once I got to the part where they go on the trip to North Carolina that is where this book started really picking up for me. I absolutely loved the second chance aspect with Georgina and Dylan. Dylan is the epitome of the perfect book husband. The fact that he stuck around all those years, "Welcome home, Georgie", ahhhhhhh makes me want to cry just thinking about it again.
By the end the relationship between Kelsey and Georgina was so beautiful. I love that Kelsey never gave up on her and was determined to help change Georgina. When Georgina went to Kelsey's job at the end and stood up for her was so empowering and I love that she did that for her.
This book displays so many life messages about how you should never be scared to chase your dreams, to always forgive and love unconditionally. There were multiple moments that I started to tear up because the words were so beautifully written and the writing really moved me.
Favorite Quotes:
"It means filling your life with the people you love doing the things that make you feel the most alive."
"Don't wait to love the people you love. We aren't guaranteed a second chance-we're only lucky enough to seize one when it comes."
"Be fearless... The world needs your voice."
An amazing inspirational book. Such a reminder to look at life differently and change perspectives. The ripple effect of our decisions is huge and can be glorious.
Oh my gosh I loved this book so much. It was such a lovely story about life, choices you make, unlikely friendships, love and saying yes. One of my favorites of the year so far.
In a word, this book is delightful! I enjoyed it all. A nice balance of substance and fluff. Highly recommend.
Loved this book! It was different than I expected in all the best ways. When Kelsey finds herself sharing a hospital room after a near death experience she can’t believe who her roommate is. Georgina Tate is famous, owns her own massive company and is a total icon of Kelsey’s. Kelsey gets a glimpse of what her future might be if she keeps on her current path by hearing about Georgina’s life and regrets. This starts the Summer of Yes and she somehow convinces Georgina to join her in saying yes to things they haven’t let themselves say yes to in a very long time.
There’s so much heart, heartache, forgiveness, and starting new. Life is about living and loving and it’s never too late to make things right. Also, it has an element of kidney disease and donation which is close to my heart so it made it even more special!
Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy I received!
It was touching and funny, and I loved it. Putting the romance aside, the relationship between each character was just amazing. i cried.
Kelsey Worthington just had a near-death experience. The biggest inconvenience of it? Pulling her away from the intensity and deadlines she’s confined to within her fast-paced publishing job. An interesting and unexpected meeting with someone older, whose life paints the picture of what Kelsey’s future might exhibit, causes Kelsey to question her own life and choices… Kelsey decides to start saying yes more often, rather than making excuses, leading to new friendships, self-reflection, and more than she ever thought possible.
I adored this book. Reading Kelsey’s character arc and perspectives was like looking into a mirror. I read this book on my Kindle and found myself highlighting many things she said, because it resonated so much with me. Other than loving Kelsey’s character, I loved the friendship she developed with Georgina. The whole time reading their adventures, I felt like this could be a movie. I loved the added romantic element; my only critique is that I felt like this part of the storyline could’ve been developed a little bit further. It seemed to move fast, and some parts felt choppy, not flowing effortlessly. I still loved the Kelsey-Hayden relationship. All of the different situations throughout the book felt like “fate,” truly serendipitous moments, and I couldn’t get through it quick enough. A true feel-good story!
Read if you enjoy:
☺️ serendipitous moments
🚗 spontaneous adventures
🤔 what-ifs
❔ questioning life choices

This book. AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Courtney Walsh does it again. This could possibly be my favorite of hers. I fell in love with the characters from the beginning. I wanted to hug them, yell at them, cry with them, cry for them, fight for them and beg them to fight for themselves. The Summer of Yes is a book that will stick with me for a long time. We all need to remember what is most important in life and fight for that.
Kelsey is young and living the life that she thinks she is supposed to live ... a safe life. That is until she gets a life disruptor that changes everything. Georgina thinks she has the perfect life with her hugely successful business until she meets Kelsey who happens to be her roommate in the hospital. This chance meeting starts the adventure of a lifetime ... the summer of yes.
Thank you Thomas Nelson Fiction for sending me an early copy of this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
“The Summer of Yes” was a delightful book to read with a very inspiring story that will make you question your own. It was exactly what I needed.
Kelsey’s life gets suspended by a life threatening and freaky accident that makes her evaluated her life decisions until that moment. While in the hospital, she finds herself sharing her room with a very successful and older business woman who may be questioning her own life decisions now that she is dying.
Their journey is one of self discovering, making them both question if letting others love you and loving them back is as worthy as being successful in your own career. If it’s possible to have everything without sacrificing you or those who want to be in your life. Or if what you initially believe are your “dreams in life” are actually what you believe they are or what you really need and will make you happy at the end of your life.
“The summer of yes” should be a course everyone needs to take at least once in your life without the need to experience a life threatening moment, and you may discover more about what you want, like and love and what you definitely don’t need to consider or do to be happy…….whatever “happy” means to you.
I just reviewed The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh. #TheSummerofYes #NetGalley
Courtney Walsh knows how to write characters that you genuinely care about. The two FMCs in this story have wonderful character arcs that were a joy to read.
Kelsey and Georgina are thrown together and are the most unlikely of duos after Kelsey gets HIT BY A CAR (not like how you feel after your 3 year old wakes up at 2am ready to party, I mean like actually hit by moving vehicle) and survives.
Georgina is business savvy and Kelsey is struggling to make her way in the world. Kelsey begins to notice things that she feels like were “meant” to happen. She does the hard things and follows the feelings she’s being given because they feel like the right course of action.
The character arcs are entertaining and moving. This book touches on some heavier topics of parental abandonment and regret. It may even inspire you to be a better parent. At least, a more present parent.
Wonderful book, highly recommend.
The Summer of Yes was my first Courtney Walsh novel and I have to stress it will definitely not be my last. This book provided a non stop engaging and imaginative story line that had me hooked from page one. The book begins with Kelsey an overworked, under appreciated book editor. Kelsey in her ever under appreciated state is volen-told to get to Starbucks with her boss’s coffee order. En route back to the office Kelsey gets mowed down by a rogue car. She wakes up in the hospital with a very fragmented memory of what landed her there. Frantic to get back to her work but told she’s very lucky to be alive she’s required to stay in the hospital and wait to be cleared. The then unoccupied and last neighbouring hospital bed is taken by a very regal and formidable woman Kelsey recognizes as Georgina Tate a well known business mogul. After listening to Georgina for a short period of time Kelsey can see some parallels between herself and the older woman. Georgina is dismissive of Kelsey but one question seems to break through her tough exterior. Was her singular focus on her job really worth it? Through her near death experience and her time with Georgina Kelsey decides that she needs to change her life and start saying Yes. Yes to the invitations that she’s been declining and just Yes to living her life again. This work was truly a delight to behold. I enjoyed the dynamic and witty push and pull between Kelsey and Georgina and their character development was so exquisitely crafted. I love to see characters grow into their most authentic selves and work for the life they want. Courtney Walsh’s The Summer of Yes was a pure delight to experience. Life gets busy and sometimes we get in our own way. The Summer of Yes makes me want to say Yes to everything that I have been saying no to. Thank you to Thomas Nelson Publishing and NetGalley for this Advanced Release copy. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is precisely the story I needed now. This book will be popular with many over the summer and for years. It has great characters and a light but meaningful plot. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Great read! I love all of Courtney Walsh’s books and this one did not disappoint. Everyone should have a summer of yes and say yes to living their best life. Enjoyed the perspective from both Kelsey and Georgina. Five stars!
Fabulous book that goes deep. I kept on highlighting passages in the first part of the book. The second part is more focused on romance, but not the traditional, “Get together, get in a fight, get together again.” Thank goodness. The romance is a nice touch, but the real strength of this book, in my opinion, is the wisdom regarding choices, the importance of a job in one’s life and the role of relationships, experienced through Kelsey’s and Georgina’s lives. Kelsey is about as old as Georgina was when she chose her career over relationships. I think many of us hate asking for help, wanting to prove we can do it ourselves. Here are some passages to make you think, "…my typical 'I can do it myself' attitude has caused someone I love a lot of grief." “I’ve been DIYing my life for years. And,.... backing myself into a very lonely corner.” “The universe sends disruptors along when we’ve gotten into a pattern that’s too comfortable.” The author is quite funny in describing certain situations such as “The Insult Generator flips on in my head” when the main character meets her rival. Kelsey and Georgina go on a life changing trip, literally and figuratively. Both women realize they’re afraid of not being in control (who isn’t?) and therefore decline invitations and forgo experiences. Through trial and error, they face their fears and discover what truly counts. It’s a sizable read, but you’ll be thrilled to have so much book left even after reading for hours. And along the way, there will be nuggets of wisdom to gather, save and cherish.
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for providing me with a free complimentary copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was another gem of a book by Courtney Walsh.
Kelsey has a near death experience that makes her rethink a lot about her life. She unexpectedly meets Georgina, who has a lot of life regrets due to her choices. Thus begins the Summer of Yes. A reluctant agreement of a road trip and to say yes to hard and scary and new things. Live life with no regrets. Choose joy over work. This book had it all. It also had a great example of true forgiveness and grace.
The characters were written and developed so well that I felt I truly understood them. The book had witty back and forth banter between Kelsey and Georgina and Kelsey and JP.
This is a book you should add to your TBR list.
Thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy for my honest review.
The Summer of Yes is another great read by Courtney Walsh. Our protagonist had an accident, which along with meeting someone she has long admired, causes her to reconsider some major life choices. From there we go on an adventure of rediscovering what is truly most important in life. This story touches on so many things, friendship, love, bravery, forgiveness, etc. The relationship that develops between the two main characters was delightful. It was a wonderful, sweet story and I can wait to read more by this author! For sure a 4.5-5 star book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the advanced copy. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Delightful, moving, fun and creative escape into the "what ifs" we all face or ignore in our lives. Join the journey and have a memorable experience! Courtney Walsh's latest will leave you examining your own life, happiness, dreams and possibilities! What a great story! This book was provided through Net Galley, the author and publisher for my reading pleasure and review. Definitely worth the read!
This was a brilliant story of a bright, creative and passionate young woman, who after getting in an accident and meeting a famous founder of a cosmetics company, tries to get herself (and her hospital roommate) to have a more positive outlook on life, calling it “the summer of yes”. That opens them both to new opportunities, fixing up their old mistakes and smoothing out some regrets, as well as living and reliving some romance.
I found this novel absolutely amazing, inspiring and funny. The way Kelsey’s, our main character, thinking processes worked, was extraordinary! Charming, hilarious, profound, entertaining… she’s the whole package. Side characters and love interests were also fantastic, making it a great read. Only Georgina, who shared the protagonist role with Kelsey, was a bit off for me, mostly because of the stubbornness she displayed. She could have had more raw and vulnerable moments to help with relating to her character.
I think it’s also worth noting how brilliantly the storyline was lead. The author’s writing was absolutely superb, she was surprising the readers, changed directions of the story and made everything still very cohesive.
I completely adored this book, 4.5/5 rounded up.
This book was such a delight! The Summer of Yes is the story of two women saying yes to life by chasing experiences, seeking forgiveness, and creating new connections. I loved the contrast of the dual-POV, with Kelsey closer to the beginning of her adult and professional life and Georgina closer to the end of hers, it made for interesting perspectives. Their shared lack of filter made them endearing characters and added fun humor. Courtney Walsh has quickly become an auto-read author for me as her books always leave me with a feeling of joy and contentment. I highly recommend you say yes to The Summer of Yes!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Kelsey is an assistant editor who sacrifices everything for her job, but longs to be a writer. After a freak accident she wakes in hospital sharing a room with Georgina (think Meryl Streep in devil wears Prada, but slightly less abrasive). Recognising and relating to the sacrifices Georgina made to achieve success in business, Kelsey strong-arms her into a ‘summer of yes’.
This is a delightful premise and well executed. The first half of the book was a little slow to start, but I loved the focus on Georgina and Kelsey’s growth. The author did a beautiful job of exploring their insecurities, flaws and choices, whilst building their relationship characterised by caring, mentorship, honesty and more than a little snark. The romance was secondary to this but equally enjoyable - both Hayden and Dylan were warm, interesting, and often more emotionally mature than our female main characters!
The overall messaging about opening yourself to opportunities, finding your purpose, and setting boundaries was inspirational. I also really enjoyed the small beach town setting and the witty narrative.
I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an uplifting, cosy, romantic and inspiring read.
Thank you Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kelsey works for a big time editor in NYC and is married to her job. She says no to all the things and people in her life. One day she is hit by a car while on the side walk as she was picking up coffee for her boss. She meets Georgina Tate while in the hospital. Georgina is a big deal business woman who is prickly and ornery and dying from kidney failure. Kelsey is drawn to Georgina. Kelsey’s mother provides some motherly advice about saying “yes” more often. Kelsey notices the similarity between herself and Georgina and coerces Georgina to participate in the summer of yes. Along the way they both find that saying yes (and sometimes, “no more”), leaning into fears/discomfort, and surrounding yourself with the people you love is what life is all about.
I love the relationship between Hayden (Georgina’s son) and Kelsey…they are just so cute together. And the love forgiveness and patience Dylan and Hayden (Georgina’s estranged spouse and son) extend to Georgina is so sweet/tender. This is a book filled with some heartfelt romance and solid life advice.
Thank you Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for allowing me to read "The Summer of Yes". This book was really good. I loved it. ! It was a heartwarming story of realizing what is important in life and finding love in the process. Kelsey and Georgina are the main characters and they are both workaholics. They happen to meet in a hospital room where Kelsey is being treated for an accident and Georgina is being treated for kidney disease. They form an unlikely friendship that leads to family ties being reunited and a new outlook on life. There’s also a double love story unfolding. It was a great book and I highly recommend it.
This is the first time I’ve read a book by Courtney Walsh and though it was slow paced in the beginning I did get drawn into the book. As the ending drew near I found myself shedding happy tears, which I don’t often do when I read a book. So I walk away from this book ready and willing to read more of this Authors books. I found it to be captivating, romantic, and a page turner. The main point was not to let your goals rob you of time spent with your loved ones. It’s not a bad thing to have goals but balance your time between work and family. Forgiveness was also an important aspect of this book. I appreciate that the book was clean read and I am pleased with the time I invested to read this novel.
When Georgina Tate and Kelsey Worthington become room mates during a hospital stay they find they seem to have much in common. Georgina is the older of the two. She is a very successful business woman in New York City. She has reached the top of her field and is very well known for her achievements. Kelsey is a 32 year old associate editor for a well known publisher. She is pouring all her time and energy into her career. She doesn’t date or have many friends. Mostly she just works. When she meets Georgina she can’t believe how fortunate she is to have this chance to get to know the legendary Matriarch of New York City. The two talk and Kelsey asks Georgina if all her sacrifices she made for her business was worth it. Georgina lost her husband and son because she was always too busy to spend time with them. The women get together for a Summer of yes so they might try some of the things they’ve always said no to because of their careers . Is it too late for these ladies to change the course of their lives?
I recommend this book to readers of Christian Fiction, Women’s Fiction and contemporary Romance.
This book is a standalone read. It is scheduled for release on 7/2/24.

This book right here.. whew! I can't even find the words...
I laughed.
I cried.
I was shocked.
I was heartbroken.
I felt the love.
And most of all... it was an *awakening*.
This will make you think deeply about things in your life.. your choices, priorities, and how you live this short time we're all given on this beautiful planet. It truly made me want to live the Summer Of Yes year round. I'm going to do more things I put off, refuse to do out of fear, and things I haven't tried because of this book... but more importantly, I'm going to live with light and show my love to those I love around me even more. As we never know how short or long we may have left, we're all dying. Wonderful summer or beach read, but impeccable book that can be read year round. There are so many great things to take away from this. It's a must-read!!
I received this book from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction to read/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.
I absolutely adored this book. It definitely gave me some Devil Wears Prada vibes, with the powerful businesswoman and the girl who’s trying to get herself heard and seen in the corporate world. Their unlikely friendship and alliance was wonderful to read as it unfolded, with Georgina learning some very important lessons and Kelsey finding her voice. I also felt inspired by this book to want to say yes to more things in life (within reason of course!) and take more chances and experience more things.
Loved this book; Can’t wait to put a copy on my shelf and see what else Courtney comes out with!
I loved this book so much! Finally a modern current read with issues prevalent to my life that I can recommend to absolutely anyone.
Kelsey Worthington is a rising editor of a publishing company who is becoming a workaholic as she is trying to climb the corporate ladder. Walking on the sidewalk one day, she is hit by a car. While recovering in a hospital room, she discovers her roommate is Georgina Tate, a famously successful business tycoon. When neither patient has a visitor besides employees, Kelsey poses the question “Is the obsessive work habits and wealth worth it?” When Georgina cannot answer, this begins the “Summer of Yes”, when they both make a pact to say “yes” to events and plans that they would usually so “no” to.
This was a delightful novel that was light and fun but also made the me, the reader, reflect on what am I saying “no” to or sometimes “yes” and am I prioritizing work over relationships? This was surprisingly a wonderful book of regret and forgiveness. Thank you Thomas Nelson Publishing and Net Galley for this very enjoyable and touching advanced reader copy. I will highly recommend all of my book friends to read this fantastic book. #TheSummerOfYes #NetGalley
The Summer of Yes was a thoughtful read about two women at different stages of their lives and how they come together to change the direction of their lives and the lives of those they love. Good character development, lovely prose. A thoroughly enjoyable story. Thank you for an advance copy.
The sweetest book by one of my favorite romance authors. This book was about second chances, finding joy, and learning to say "yes" to life! Mainly character-driven, this is a story about a witty older boss babe (she hates that phrase) and a younger editor who find themselves sharing a hospital room. Through sheer determination, Kelsey gets Georgina to agree to a summer of "yes"...all with the underlying intention of reconnecting Georgina with her family. Summer roadtrip, scenic views, friendships, clean romance, and no language; this book makes for the perfect summer romance.
"The Summer of Yes" is a delightful rom-com novel that offers a refreshing twist on the classic genre. It’s only April and this may be one of my favorite books of the year! Written by Courtney Walsh, this book will captivate readers with its memorable characters, clean storyline, and overall feel-good vibe.
The story is set in New York City and opens with workaholic Kelsey Worthington having a near-death experience. While she’s in the hospital recovering, she meets an older, successful business woman, Georgina. While chatting about their lives, through some fun banter and strong convincing, both Kelsey and Georgina realize there’s more to life than work and start off on an adventure of a summer of “yes.”
What sets "A Summer of Yes" apart is its clean and wholesome approach to fun and romance. The author skillfully avoids clichés and unnecessary drama, opting instead for genuine moments of laughter, heartwarming conversations, and tender gestures. In addition, the supporting cast of characters adds depth and charm to the story. This book is perfect for anyone in need of a feel-good escape!
The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh is just that - a definite yes!! I’m a huge fan of Courtney Walsh & this book reaffirms why. I didn’t want this one to end- read this as soon as it's available!!
Thank you NetGalley & Thomas Nelson Fiction for the ARC copy of this book.

What a great read.....a feel-good story that really makes you stop and think about your own life. A story that follows an unlikely relationship that formed between 2 women you probably never would have put together. Kelsey and Georgie help each other discover a new lease on life, with an ending that brought a tear to my eye. Courtney Walsh does it again....a must read!
Courtney Walsh does it again!
Kelsey Worthington is a junior editor. She’s your classic workaholic- to the point that she has alienated most of the people in her life. Nothing about her life is excited- that is, until the accident. While in the hospital Kelsey meets an older woman, Georgina Tate. Georgina is a highly successful business woman. With only a few months left to live due to her failing kidneys, Georgina is forced to face her regrets head on. After her run-in with death, Kelsey also is facing her own regrets. So she decides to give herself a summer of yes. Kelsey is going to force herself to say yes to all the things she would normally say no to. And by some miracle she convinces Georgina to join her on this wild summer adventure of yes.
This story is about forgiveness, choosing what really matters in life, and love. This is one of those books that you will want to pick up and read again and again.
I've read several Courtney Walsh books (all Christmas ones), and this one was my favorite. I loved the plot, and I loved how everything was woven together very well.
Walsh has a way of making me laugh while also touching my heart with her characters and stories. The main characters in this one are lovable and relatable. I saw myself in both Kelsey and Georgina.
I definitely recommend reading this book!
I liked the character development in this book. Courtney Walsh is a great romance author, and wrote a great story between Hayden and Kelsey. The book sends a good message of living life to the fullest.
The Summer of yes, was absolutely a yes for me!
Author Courtney Walsh has been a favourite of mine since I discovered one of her Christmas books. I have made my way through her collection.
I was so thrilled to be given the opportunity to read this book ahead of publication date!
It did not disappoint, and in fact, it exceeded my expectations.
Courtney puts her all into these stories, I can tell!
I follow her on Instagram and it’s clear from what she posts that her dedication and exuberance and passion for her writing definitely shows in each new book that she writes.
I recommend any of her books, including this newest one!
Thankyou to author Courtney Walsh, Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I absolutely adored this book. I love Courtney Walsh - this author writes such great stories, with fantastic characters with depth and emotion. The book made me laugh, cry and willing to have a summer of yes myself.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
I love Walsh's books so this one is no exception.
This sweet story will stop and make you think about your own life and the regrets that you wish you might have wanted to change. I know I have a few.
I liked Georgina! She isn't afraid to go after what she wants!
Kelsey is my favorite character though. I found myself rooting for her the whole way through. She's an awesome person to get to know.
I loved the easy banter between friends. Walsh does such a nice job with this.
I really enjoyed the lessons that were learned in this novel because to me, it's real!
Learning life's lessons is never easy. I should know! Saying Yes is difficult for one set in her ways like me.
The cover, author and colors on the front of this book are what made me want to read it.
I will be adding this to my shelf after it comes out in print. It's just sooooo wonderful! I couldn't put it down until Kelsey and Georgina finished telling me their story. I love books that keep my attention all the way through and leave u thinking about them long after they are done!
5 stars for a wonderful adventure of Yes! I highly recommend.
My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and netgalley for this ARC of The Summer of Yes. All opinions are my own. This book was fantastic. This is my first Courtney Walsh book and I was not disappointed. This book will pull on your heart strings as many of the topics can hit close to home. The friendship formed between the main characters will melt you. What would life look like if you just started staying yes today? Go on this adventure and see for yourself. This book will make you think and also not take some of the small things for granted around us every day. The characters were so well written and even the side characters you will learn to love. We all have a soft spot even if you deny it. This is the perfect spring/summer book or even winter when you wish it was summer :) this book was a real treat and I'm grateful to Thomas Nelson for letting me review this book.
This book was so inspiring!! It makes me want to make a big life change…HA! But really, the characters were relatable and I loved the family feel to it. Great book!
Say YES to reading this one!! Thank you NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction, and Courtney Walsh for allowing me to read an ARC of this amazing book. For someone that is a workaholic and is always saying “no”, this book made me want to say “Yes” to more adventures in my life. I loved this book and can't wait to read more Courtney Walsh books.
I have read Courtney's other titles, and this story is different- more serious with a lesson to be learned. It was deep and meaningful while also being light. The characters were very relatable and it was easy to empathize with them and their stories. I had to pace myself because I didn't want to the story to end too quickly!!!! Loved the Summer of Yes!
This was my first time reading novel by Courtney Walsh and it will not be my last.
The story follows Kelsey, a young assistant editor in New York City who says no to everything except work. Following an accident she finds herself sharing a room with Georgina Tate, an older, extremely successful, no nonsense business woman.
Through conversation, Kelsey asks Georgina whether her total focus on her career was worth it. Georgina's slip of her cool, calm demeanour makes Kelsey reconsider her life. Serving out on a mission to say yes to things, Kelsey hopes to bring life back into her day to day world.
The dual point of view really helped to show the story from the two ladies' own view points and helped to knit the story together.
The depth of the characters, their relatability and the sensitivity that their stories were told meant that the novel was really enjoyable, amusing at times and just a pleasure to read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book was very good and I enjoyed reading it. I loved the story line and characters. They were unique and entertaining. It challenged me to be a better person. It made me think through some of my life goals and I appreciate that. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Is it corny of me to say YES to this book? Because I loved it! And it really got me in the mood for summer! I loved this book and I am excited to share it with my patrons at the library!
Such a sweet story!! Kelsey, an editor for a New York publishing company, gets hit by a car and has to recover in a hospital room with the famous cosmetic guru, Georgina Tate. Kelsey tries to get to know Georgina, but Georgina will have no part of the friendliness. Outside in the hospital hallway, Kelsey "randomly" encounters an incredibly cute guy. Once home, and after visiting with her mom, and after an unfortunate event at work, Kelsey hatches a plan to live The Summer of Yes, and to quit being so negative. She involves Georgina, and the adventure begins!
This is a fun read, and quite compelling as well. I read it in record time - I just could wait to find out it would all play out. The ending was wonderful and satisfying. And beautifully sappy, too. Loved it!
Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review The Summer of Yes.

This book is an intriguing exploration of the complexity of personal relationships. I loved how the characters underwent changes, overcame their fears, and moved towards a better life. The subtle yet charming romance added the perfect touch to this story. At the same time, the everyday adventures served as a poignant reminder that the most extraordinary moments can arise in the simplicity of daily life. Undoubtedly, it is one of my favorite reads of the year.

This book started out slow and i wasnt sure if i could get into it but i am glad i stuck with it! It was a cute and easy fun read!
Such a cute lil romance story. I highly recommend this one for a good summer read! I think there's a little something in there for everybody.
This book had me right away when Kelsey wakes up in the hospital. Her nurse says, “I’m Cecelia & I’ll be taking care of you.” Kelsey’s mind goes to a Simon & Garfunkel song. I knew it was going to be good and I was right.
The characters were so easy to like & I found myself laughing out loud at the banter between them.
The rocky relationship between Kelsey & Geraldine was fun to follow.
This story was romantic, funny, encouraging and inspiring.
Say YES to reading the Summer of Yes. You won’t regret it.
Thank you NetGalley & Thomas Nelson for allowing me to read this eARC.
Loved this book. I loved that it was sentimental and sweet and uplifting. I loved that other people felt they were able to learn from these women’s experiences and find love, happiness, and even life in general.
Say YES to The Summer of Yes! You won't regret it. Courtney Walsh's newest book sparkles with fun, wittiness and enjoyment. At the center is an intergenerational friendship that opens long-time closed doors, revealing new adventures, new feelings, self-discovery and quite possibly new relationships and love. In addition to being a great story that is well-written and easy to read, the characters are extremely likable and fun to hang out with. This is a great book that is sure to be a summertime hit.
I absolutely loved this book! The way that it tells two stories of two main characters while also weaving their stories together is just brilliant. So full of heart and a great reminder of what really matters in life. Forever a Courtney Walsh reader!
This is such a fun story! I enjoyed getting to know the two main characters and their very different perspectives, one looking back on life and the other in the midst of trying to make a career for herself. This is a delightful, rom com style story!
You need to say YES to reading this book this summer!
Was that too cheesy? Probably.
I am such a Courtney Walsh fan. This was another sweet, cute, clean story with dynamic and relatable characters that you just love, lots of witty banter, and some deep themes. This book was light and fun, but really inspiring! I love how all of Courtney’s books are so optimistic and full of hope and happiness.
I loved the Dual POV and the relationship between both women. I really related to different parts of Kelsey’s personality and absolutely loved the way that Kelsey and Georgina pushed each other out of their comfort zones. The romance aspect of the story was so sweet, and I loved that part of the book was set in North Carolina.
Absolutely adored. Highly recommend!
Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for my gifted e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
Walsh does it again! You’re going to want to say YES! to The Summer of Yes. This amazing story will pull you in from the very beginning and will have you holding on tight until the very end.
I absolutely devoured this book and DID NOT want to put it down or let it end. When I reached the last quarter of the book I wanted it to slow down so I could savor it until the very end.
These characters, this story, the message, I loved it all. Through her characters, Walsh encourages us to step out of our comfort zone and say yes to the things that we desperately want to do but are too afraid to say yes to.
There is a smattering of romance, including some amazing kissing scenes in this book, but it mostly focuses on Kelsey and Georgina learning to step out of their comfort zone and allowing it to change their lives. I definitely recommend saying yes to this book.
I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Fiction books for the ARC of The Summer of Yes. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Courtney Walsh writes an incredible story in The Summer of Yes. This book showcases two unlikely lives colliding in a story of making hard choices, embracing the potential for changing your path and digging deep in to the messy world of your own “why” and life’s passions. This is a book of self discovery, the power of forgiveness and ultimately —- saying yes to love and the things that scare you. I loved this story, the characters and how relatable it was. Made me smile, laugh and cry which to me is the sign of a great book.
THE SUMMER OF YES is a charming book, and I'm so glad I had the chance to read it. The characters are realistically portrayed, and I cared about how things would turn out for Kelsey and Georgina. The plot was engaging, although the pacing dragged at times, especially in the beginning. I think readers of this type of story prefer a faster pace and don't want to get bogged down. This is especially true since writers are (unfortunately) competing with Netflix and other streaming services.
However, ultimately this is a very satisfying novel. Kelsey and Georgina embark on quite the entertaining caper. I especially enjoyed the moments of humor threaded with jewels of wisdom. The patience displayed by Dylan was almost too good to be true, but very sweet.
Highly recommended for fans of women's fiction and uplifting stories about self discovery and growth.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance e-galley. All opinions in this review are 100% my own.
This book is such a charming and inspiring read. The protagonist, Kelsey, learns to break free from her routine by embarking on a ‘Yes Plan’, finding joy and growth in new experiences. The novel is a delightful read, offering a message about the courage to take risks and the beauty of spontaneity. Perfect for anyone looking to be reminded of the power of saying "YES"!
Definitely chick lit.....and I loved it. Light, heartwarming, and fun. A bit predictable, but so what? The characters are delightful (even the curmudgeonly Georgina) and the plot tightly structured. Of course it goes exactly as expected, but I never understood why people want to make that a bad thing. Reading is designed to help us escape the humdrum of daily existence and to help us appreciate the mundanity. And this book does exactly that.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was just…. WOW 😍
The cover is stunning. The characters, with their banter, just suck you right in. I could easily imagine Kelsey and Georgina in real life, which helped this novel flow so easily.
This book left me speechless and makes me want to say yes to even more things!
WHAT TO SAY!!?!?!? This book was incredible. An easy, solid 5-stars. This was joyful, heartwarming & funny. Courtney Walsh filled this book with life lessons & enduring characters. The banter between the characters was hilarious. It gave a clear picture of who each person was.
We start with Kelsey waking up in a hospital bed, unsure of what happened…after her second chance at life we follow her and the stubborn Georgina on a Summer of YES! I thought this would be a simple story of friendship, but it was SO. MUCH. MORE.
I cannot wait to buy a hard copy when this comes out! You all should be standing in line to grab this easy reading story of life book! I know I will!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Courtney Walsh & Thomas Nelson for the opportunity to read & review this book early!
Getting hit by a car sends Kelsey flying in a new direction. She lands on the idea of A Summer of Yes - dragging Georgina along with her. You will definitely want to say yes to this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Courtney Walsh’s books never disappoint and The Summer of Yes was a warm and cozy hug. Thank you, Net Galley, for the advance copy! Due to a freak accident, Kelsey Worthington ends up in a hospital room with the famous cosmetic mogul and businesswoman, Georgina Tate. Georgina’s crusty and grumpy mannerisms didn’t put off Kelsey when she came up with the idea of the Summer of Yes….pulling her life out of its rut, trying to jumpstart new life. After some family secrets begin to unfold, Kelsey can’t deny the pull to make some changes and embark on an adventure. The yeses begin to change Georgina’s life, but also Kelsey’s in the process. I loved the setting of this story and the beautiful relationships formed. The ways Walsh uses authentic characters and their relationships to change me as a reader. This book is a perfect read for summer!
Such a fun story that makes you considering how you’re living life. We loved the main characters and the plot and had a hard time putting this one down. A fun summer read for sure!
I loved this story! All the feel good parts of her writing, as well as the 2 main characters and their banter.
Kelsey and Georgina have a fun relationship, that gives hope to the reader!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. If you’re looking for your next beach read, here it is! The Summer of Yes delivers a charming tale of self-discovery, second chances, and love. This one really tugged on my heart strings, while also keeping me hooked with the funny banter and relatable feelings about life. You’ll definitely finish this one contemplating your own life and whether the decisions you make are truly making you happy. What a fun, yet still inspiring read by Courtney Walsh!
This book resonated with me in a way I’m not sure any other fiction book has. Kelsey has a near death experience and Georgina is dying from kidney failure.
Georgina is a famous CEO and founder of a cosmetics company who though wildly successful, has lots of regrets. She gave up family for the sake of business.
Kelsey is on the brink of becoming Georgina. She’s young and a slave to her work in publishing. She wants to write but after being told no once, she lives in her comfortable job, giving it all she has.
After both Kelsey and Georgina end up sharing a room in the hospital, Kelsey realizes that her near death experience is a timely disrupter and causes her to reevaluate her life. She choose fear and comfort A LOT. She says no A LOT.
That changes when she presents Georgina with the idea of “the summer of yes”. She wants to help the older woman face some of her regrets and make a change in her final days while also saying yes and living fully herself.
I absolutely loved this book. My husband had a near death experience two years ago, and he truly almost died. The trauma and pain from that situation made me turn into Kelsey a little bit. I found myself saying no a lot. Being careful and cautionary. Expecting the worst and letting fear drive me.
So when I read Kelsey and Georgina’s story and experienced their growth and healing and hope, I felt it deeply. I’ve been there. And the second chances, learning to be brave, and saying yes all resonated with me so much. The themes of forgiveness and hope, bravery and love are just so good and so prominent in the story.
Oh and the love story was GREAT. Dylan, Georgina’s husband has been waiting faithfully for her all these years. And Hayden, her son, is all the things you want in a MMC. He’s kind, genuine and instantly starts to fall for Kelsey and I ate up their romance. 😍
My only caution is this: Georgina is a piece of work through the first 50% of the book. She’s cranky and honestly just mean. But don’t let that keep you from finishing the story. I promise it’s so worth it for the ending.
I HIGHLY recommend you snag this book later this summer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Kelsey finds herself in the hospital and meets an older woman, Georginia, who encourages her to take chances and live her life to the fullest.
Such a beautiful, heartwarming story that I will definitely recommend to others…one of the best I’ve read in a long time! Loved sharing the adventures with characters and I laughed throughout.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
The title The Summer of Yes caught my attention, given that I reread The Year of Yes with my bookclub in January. I'm glad I requested for this book and it was approved because it drove home the lessons I'd learnt earlier in the year, with an interesting story and romance in built. I recommend this book to everyone who has been struggling with fears and insecurities.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Netgalley
This book was so refreshing! I loved the characters and how they felt "real!" This book grabs you right from the first page. Kelsey gets hit by a car and meets another woman that ends up sharing a hospital room with her. I absolutely loved Georgina's character and how as the story went on, we got to know her better. She is an enchanting character that is tough and gruff. Her life choices have made her the way she is. Kelsey's brashness was jarring at first, but I started to really respect her. This is a wonderful story!! READ IT!
I am so glad that I said 'yes' when I requested this book. Even more so that NetGalley said 'yes' to my request. The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh has such relatable and intriguing characters. This could easily be my story or your story. Humor, wittiness, forgiveness of self and others, grace, rekindling of lost love, and finding new love. Finding the true meaning of life and desiring that over all else. I did not want to let these characters go. I did not want the story to end.
Releases July 2nd. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This is my first time reading this author and I am blown away by her writing. This book is witty and written with such unexpected humor. The “disrupters” in one’s life can truly change the course of their life and lead them to a path of happiness.
Kelsey finds herself in the Hospital with a most unusual and disgruntled roommate. As she tries to get to know Mrs Tate she finds they have more in common than they originally thought.
The two of them head on a journey of saying yes and find that love, forgiveness and a hope for a future is well worth the disrupters that eventually got them there.
Great read and I will definitely be reading more by this author.
This book is so relatable because I too have said no so many times that I’ve forgotten how to say yes. Courtney Walsh knocks it out of the park again with another romance that leaves you thinking about life all the while smiling through her book.
The Summer of Yes gets a big YES from me. Corny? Maybe so… I loved it.
I thought it was slow the first quarter of the book. Not so much that I was ready to give up on it, but enough that I was waiting for the story the book description promised to show up.
Looking back, it was fine, but I would have preferred more to the end of the story than the beginning.
The characters were so well woven, the conflict was prevalent and real, and the humor was great. This will be a good I keep coming back to over the years.
I devoured this book but yet I didn't want it to end! The story and the writing pulled me in from the beginning. I loved the quirkiness in the story as well. Dylan, Hayden, Georgina, JP and Kelsey were such great characters. I'm definitely sad reading the last lines of their story!
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own
Everyone has a little bit of fear inside them. As adults we’re often conditioned to say no out of fear- fear of what others will say, fear of disappointment, fear of the unknown. Everyone should have a ‘Summer of Yes”. Embrace the unknown, take that new class, meet someone new.
This book made me laugh, cry, and hopeful that the main characters would find what they were looking for. It was a quick read and I’m hoping for a sequel.
Recomendo demais a leitura!
Fantastic!! While each of us may not see ourselves completely in Kelsey or Georgina, I’d bet that each of us can find a bit of us in one, the other, or both of these ladies. The insight and risks Kelsey take are refreshing and can challenge each of us to find a little more “yes” in our lives. She may even challenge you to do some soul searching. I certainly found myself wondering more about the choices I’ve made in my own life while reading this fictional story. While this story was focused mainly on the two women, there was, of course, also a dash of romance. Not enough to overpower the story, but just the right amount for us to see why Kelsey and Georgina ask even more questions about the importance of saying "yes." This book is right at the top of my favorites from Courtney Walsh.

What can I say about this one?? The Devil Wears Prada and the Hallmark Channel had a baby. I didn’t expect to love this book so much.
“I have the flirt game of a potted plant.” Kelsey
“Don’t wait to love the people you love. We aren’t guaranteed a second chance - we’re only lucky enough to seize one when it comes.” Georgina
Kelsey dreams of being a writer but has settled as an assistant editor at a publishing house. Kelsey’s life is forever changed when she is hit by a car walking on the sidewalk. While recovering in the hospital, she gets a roommate, who is none other than Georgina Tate, billionaire owner of Tate Cosmetics. Seeing similarities in the two women’s workaholic and hard exteriors, Kelly strikes up a challenge with Georgina to start saying “yes” to things they normally wouldn’t. Kelsey calls it “The Summer of Yes.”
This is told in first person from both Kelsey and Georgina’s perspectives. It’s a dual love story that explores women supporting women, not accepting defeat, and what’s really important in life…. Loving the people who love you. 😘
Kelsey and Georgina are so delightful!

I have read several of Courtney Walsh's books, and this one has been my favorite so far. I look forward to her books because she writes likable characters and usually have to overcome very relatable situations. Her books also written with themes of grace, forgiveness and hope as anchoring points.
In this book you have two main characters, Kelsey and Georgina Tate. Throughout the book the POV is mainly from Kelsey's point of view, but it does switch to Georgina's view in a few spots throughout. The two main characters meet in the first chapter when they are roommates in the same hospital room. Although different in age (one in her 30's the other in her 70's) and life circumstances, both Kelsey and Georgina are very similar in their corporate drive and a love of control. This unlikely duo, team up to try and change the things they don't like in their life by "saying yes" and embracing all of the things they tossed to the side in their singular pursuit for success.
This book was enjoyable with main characters from different generations and walks of life. I appreciated Georgina in her 70's. The interaction and Kelsey and Georgina was fun to read.
As a rom-com I appreciated how the institution of marriage was honored. Also the intimacy level is chaste and at most has brief kissing.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book was so fun to read, and honestly, an important lesson in saying yes instead of letting fear get in the way. Kelsey and Georgina are such a fun duo. Once their summer of yes began, I couldn’t put this book down. I enjoyed watching Kelsey challenge herself and not back down from encouraging Georgina to do the same, even if her methods were slightly stressful at times. Kelsey had some tough truths to uncover about her life, and I loved how honest she was with herself about it and stood firm in who she was but allowed herself to make some healthy changes as well.
Georgina was a strong character with a hard outer shell that she wasn’t ready to let anyone break through. It was fun to see how she grew and yet stayed true to herself as she got to know Kelsey and as Kelsey pushed her to say yes to new adventures…and old ones.
Kelsey and Georgina’s stories are the focus of this book, but there’s some sweet romance as well and I found myself wanting to know more of their story after the book ended.
This is a great pick me up, with real emotion and challenges, but a great lesson and an encouraging story of saying yes to things you wouldn’t normally. This is a book that I can see myself rereading anytime I need some encouragement to start saying yes and challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone.
Why wouldn't getting hit by a car, and meeting one of your longtime role models when you wake up in a hospital change your life? Kelsey Worthington has the ultimate wake-up call one day after a life full of saying no to things outside her comfort zone. Her plan to say yes shakes up her normally stable life as she embarks on The Summer of Yes convincing Georgina to come along and realize what they missed out on.
This romantic tale will have you questioning what more you could have said yes to, make you laugh, cry, and recommend to your friends.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for allowing me to read an ARC of The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh, in exchange for my honest review.
So many yes(s)es!!
This book was perfection! There were so many good lessons in this story - forgiveness, facing fear, self-realization, acceptance, tenaciousness, and so much more. This story was heartwarming, witty, thought-provoking, and encouraging.
Courtney Walsh has now become one of my "must read" authors.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
You need to just say YES...to reading this book!
Absolutely beautiful - this captivating story spoke to my soul!
Kelsey is content focusing on work and playing things safe, never venturing outside of her comfort zone. Then an unexpected accident leads her to Georgina - an older wealthy, successful, business woman but Kelsey soon learns that Georgina has regrets for living her life the same way that Kelsey is.
And thus the summer of yes is born.
Kelsey is determined to start saying yes to the things she normally wouldn't, to things that scare her, that make her live and dream and yes, love.
She and Georgina take off on an extraordinary adventure together and as they make it the summer of yes, they find healing, second chances, romance, and an unexpected but beautiful friendship.
What you'll love:

Melt-your-heart romance
Discovering dreams
Second chances
Found family
Healing and hope
I finished this book a week ago but haven't written a review until now because I truly didn't know how to do this book justice. I still don't, but I am going to try because this book is storytelling at it's very best.
Kelsey and Georgina - two women at opposite ends of life - are such dynamic characters. I was captivated by both of them from the very beginning and watching their friendship grow filled my heart with happiness.
Though the romances were not the main plot of the story, they were the kind of melt-your-heart-into-a-puddle romances that would satisfy even the most hopeless of romantics. The second chance romance legitimately brought tears to my eyes, and the other? So tender and sweet and fun and it left me in a puddle of happy heart eyes!
The beautiful truths within the story touched my heart and I swear at times it felt like the author was speaking directly to my soul. This is a story of second chances, of healing and forgiveness, of family and friendship. A story about living life to it's fullest and not letting fear rule your choices but following your heart and your dreams.
This powerful and beautiful story left me in tears and smiles and feeling all the feels and is one that will stay with me for a long time. I cannot recommend this one enough! An absolute winner from Courtney Walsh.
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
Loved every minute of this heart warming love story. I enjoyed the message of saying yes and living your best life. The double romance was an added bonus. Such a sweet fun wholesome story. Love anything Courtney Walsh writes.
“The Summer of Yes” by Courtney Walsh is a heartwarming tale that invites readers to embrace new experiences, take risks, and discover the transformative power of saying "yes." Set against the vibrant backdrop of New York City, this novel weaves together the lives of two unlikely women and you will yearn to flip the page to find out what happens next.
Meet Kelsey Worthington: A workaholic junior editor who dreams of becoming a writer but has settled into a routine of helping others tell their stories. Her existence is stable, her relationships safe—until a near-death experience catapults her into a life-altering journey.
Meet Georgina Tate: A glass-ceiling-shattering, wildly successful businesswoman who sacrificed everything to achieve her goals. Now, facing failing kidneys and limited time, Georgina grapples with her regrets.
While recovering in the hospital, Kelsey meets Georgina, and their chance encounter sparks a series of events. Georgina agrees to join Kelsey on her "Summer of Yes" adventures—a plan to say yes to everything they normally decline. Together, they explore the city, dine with strangers, and even take an impractical but exhilarating ride in a convertible.
But the true journey begins when Kelsey surprises Georgina with a visit to her son, Hayden, and her not-so-ex-husband. As their lives intertwine, love, forgiveness, and regret come to the forefront. Through their interactions, both women learn valuable lessons about living fearlessly and embracing second chances.
Walsh's prose is both engaging and evocative. She captures the essence of New York City, from the bustling streets, to the hidden gems, and the magic of unexpected encounters. Her characters are relatable, flawed, and endearing. As readers, we cheer for their growth and transformation.
“The Summer of Yes” radiates positivity. It's a perfect beach read that leaves you with a warm heart and a renewed sense of possibility. Walsh skillfully explores themes of regret, forgiveness, and second chances. The characters' emotional arcs resonate deeply. Kelsey and Georgina's friendship blossoms beautifully. Their interactions are genuine, and their chemistry leaps off the pages.
“The Summer of Yes” is a delightful blend of romance, self-discovery, and adventure. Treat yourself to this uplifting story and say "yes" to the journey because it's worth every page!
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks to Netgalley & Thomas Nelson Fiction for the E-ARC! Loved the characters & the setting! Also really enjoyed the cleanness of the romance. Really good closed-door romance. Definitely will read more from this author.
6-Stars! This is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. It falls into the category of Women’s Fiction – and believe me, it’s going to change you! Inspiring, powerful, and filled with messages of forgiveness, and restoration of life. It’s going to challenge you to be bold, to take risks and to simply say “YES” to the things you’re afraid of.
Kelsey wakes up in a hospital room with the realization that she had been in a serious car accident. Nearly as shocking, is the reality that her hospital roommate is Georgina Tate…feisty and brash, but an absolute legendary businesswoman in New York. Georgina is the definition of success by most people’s standards, although right now, her health is rapidly declining as she waits for a kidney donation. Georgina is not up for chit chat, but Kelsey can’t seem to help herself. The banter between these two will grab you and make you giggle right from the start. If you’ve ever watched the move Steel Magnolias, and you remember the grumpy and hard to love character of Ouiser Boudreaux…well, this is how I pictured Georgina. Yet, deep down, there is so much more than her rough exterior.
Kelsey doesn’t feel like she’s done anything remarkable in her life and her accident was a wake-up call to reevaluate her future. She senses a strong gravitational pull towards Georgina and decides that a Summer of saying “yes” to the things that would typically conjure up fear could be just what they both need. It takes A LOT for Kelsey to get Georgina on board with this crazy idea of an adventure, but she finally agrees. You’re going to absolutely fall in love with their journey, their healing, their romances, and their friendship. This story is a true masterpiece filled with moments of laughter, tears, but most of all, HOPE.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
“People don’t leave quickly, but they do leave suddenly.”
😳 I can’t get this out of my head!
I loved this book! There were a few times I wondered how a situation could end any way but badly, but Courtney pulled it out at the end. Fun premise. Who hasn’t looked forward and wondered how much of our true selves would be left if we kept moving down the same path? I know I have! Well written and I laughed out loud several times and highlighted a whole bunch!!
This is everything I need in a book. It’s funny, it’s witty and it’s so stinkin cute! ☺️ If you’re looking for a feel good book, this is it! The Summer of Yes has earned a spot on my Top 10 list for 2024. The age gap friendship between Kelsey and Georgia is hilariously funny! It totally gave gave me Leni and Margot vibes. 🥰 The romance between Kelsey and Hayden is perfection. 👌🏻
Well done Cortney Walsh! 👏🏻
Courtney Walsh is one of my favorite authors for books that feel real and authentic. She writes with a voice that makes you think about your own life, your own insecurities and also hope that maybe you will find a flicker of inspiration to do better with this life.
The Summer of Yes was just full of so much heart and also the funny inside jokes that break up a serious moment and makes you laugh.
I just adored Georgiana and her snark. She's who I want to be when I grow up (minus the kidney disease and estrangement from her family)! Kelsey is that bright spot in Georgiana's life that she finds annoying and yet cannot resist the pull into her wild ideas.
There is a neat little bow put on this story but the meat and potatoes will stay with me because this story does make you think.... what if?
Thanks for my Advance Copy! I loved it!
Courtney Walsh continues to amaze me with her stories, how relatable her characters are, and how much I thoroughly enjoy reading her books. The Happy LIfe of Isadora Bentley was my top read of 2023--I saw a lot of myself in Isadora Bentley and I loved seeing her transform into a whole, healthy person and leave her baggage and trauma in the past where it belongs. There is some of that same dynamic in this book with the main character Kelsey.
The way the story opened (I don't want to spoil it) was absolutely genius in my opinion, and it heightened my interest in the story right from the first page. It sets the stage perfectly for Kelsey's character arc and the way her own self-reflection sparks changes for other characters as well. It was enjoyable, satisfying and uplifting to say the least. I hope everyone goes out and buys this book. It could very well change your life, too.
"Being human feels good, even though it simultaneously feels bad. Because it feels necessary. Because a part of me wants to carve my name in a giant, sturdy oak tree as if to say: Georgina was here."
It's a YES to The Summer of Yes.
It's easy to fall in love with Kelsey's anxious optimism and Georgina's cynicism. The road trip narrative feels fresh and fun, and it's joyous to read about both women finding romance and finding joy in a world that denies it to them. Second chances abound, and it will have you wanting to say yes to more of the little things in life, like pretzels and time with friends. The clear message is: no matter what age you are, you deserve to be happy. And don't we all need more of that message in the world?
Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Courtney Walsh never disappoints. She has become one of my go to authors. I loved this story of friendship and love. This makes the perfect summer read.
This was my second book by Courtney Walsh and I absolutely loved it! The characters and the settings were all so lovable. Even Georgina who could be prickly at times. What a sweet and fun story where I felt like I was right there with them. It’s even inspired me to try and say yes to more things this year. This was a cute, clean, fun read with some romance sprinkled in. I truly can’t recommend Courtney’s books enough! Thanks to NetGalley, Courtney Walsh, and Thomas Nelson Fiction for providing me with this ARC. It was a joy and delight to spend time with Kelsey, Georgina, Hayden, and Dylan!
Loved this book! I keep finding that I’ve been thinking about it off and on throughout the week. It’s one that will stick with me for a very long time. It’s thought provoking and sweet.
When Kelsey is hit by a car and lands in the hospital for several days, it massively derails her organized life. And she really wasn’t looking for a hospital roommate: Georgina, an uber-successful businesswoman on kidney dialysis and trying to run her company from her bed. But the time in the hospital and dealing with her testy, private roommate open Kelsey’s eyes to what she has been missing in her life, and she wonders what both of their lives would be like if they said yes to the things they have been saying no to. As Kelsey sets out to change her life, she is determined to take Georgina with her.
I really like Courtney Walsh’s books–they are consistently sweet, closed-door romances bursting with all the good feelings. But The Summer of Yes is probably my favorite yet. Gerogina was hard for me to like at first, but I was in love all the way through with her husband Dylan and son Hayden, and Kelsey was cute, quirky, and adorable. I loved the premise, with the freedom of summer stretching out on the pages and the big questions of all the possibilities a life can contain, and all the hope that it’s never too late to try again. This book was a sheer delight from start to finish.
If you like feel-good romance, fun characters, and stories just full of love and grace, this is a book you’re definitely going to want to pick up this in July. Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the advance copy.
This may be my favorite of Courtney Walsh’s books. It took a few chapters to get into the story, but I loved both of the main characters and their growth throughout the story, especially Georgina’s. Her story was heartbreaking but with such an uplifting ending. This was a really sweet read with a great message.
This was my first dive into this author's work, and now, I'm fully committed. I can hardly wait to delve into her other books if they're anything like this one. I completely adored Kelsey and Georgina, captivated by their narratives. I found myself cheering for both of them every step of the way.
The author's descriptive prose was incredibly immersive, deepening my connection to these wonderful characters. Their compelling stories made it difficult to put the book down; I was invested in their fates and eager to uncover the next twists. The narrative flowed smoothly, maintaining an engaging pace, while the plot held my interest with its intrigue. The romance was sweet and endearing, and I particularly valued that there is no language or spice (closed-door romance), which I appreciate.
The central concept of this narrative brought to mind the film "Yes Man," starring Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel, albeit with a refreshing twist featuring two female protagonists, one older and one younger. Their journey of a lifetime unfolds in a manner that is both highly entertaining and deeply moving, offering moments of hilarity, heartbreak, and profound uplift. Prepare to experience a rollercoaster of emotions as this book elicits laughter, tears, and moments of heartfelt connection. Embedded within its pages are numerous thought-provoking themes touching on the essence of life itself: navigating past trauma, embracing second chances, not giving up, it’s never too late, the power of forgiveness, the importance of family, and the enduring nature of love and grace. This book was so impactful that now I want to buy a physical copy to revisit its pages, annotate its wisdom, and relive its poignant moments time and again.
I've never connected with a character as much as I did with Kelsey. She resonated with me on so many levels, from her professional life to her personal quirks. She's just so relatable - bold, daring, quirky, ambitious, and absolutely adorable. I loved her!
Georgina's charm lies in her unique personality. She may come off as grumpy and cynical but beneath that tough exterior beats a tender heart. She yearns to connect with others, but her past has left her guarded. Striving to maintain a facade of strength as a business mogul, she grapples with the choices she's made, sacrificing personal fulfillment for career success. Now, she's wrestling with a tide of regrets.
The character development journey for both Kelsey and Georgina was absolutely incredible. Witnessing their growth and positive transformations was such a joy. Plus, the dynamic between them was pure gold, leading to some seriously hilarious moments. They're like the perfect duo—grumpy meets sunshine, and it works brilliantly.
Romance plays a delightful role in this tale, adding sweetness and entertainment. It was a treat getting to know both love interests and seeing them charm the women they adore. The blend of romance, comedy, and women's fiction created a captivating mix that kept me hooked.
Beyond just a narrative about a road trip between two women, this story embodies the essence of friendship, hope, and embracing life on your own terms. It beautifully illustrates the power of choice—whether to say "yes" or "no" to the people and experiences that shape our journey.
This story was truly beautiful, deeply moving, and left a lasting impression on my heart.
Prepare to reflect on your own life and relationships with loved ones after finishing this book. Highly, high recommend!! This is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year!!
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
The Summer of Yes was a really cute story! It was about second chances, forgiveness, family, and friendship. There were some serious situations, sad moments, some romance, and a lot of humor. Most of all, this novel was about happiness - exploring what creates real happiness in life - and about chasing dreams. I absolutely loved the main characters, Kelsey and Georgina, and reading the story from their viewpoints. They both had a lot of personality and the character development throughout the story was fun to experience.
Thank you to #NetGalley for an eARC of #TheSummerofYes by #CourtneyWalsh in exchange for honest feedback. I thoroughly enjoyed this read! - 5 stars
A summer of yes was different than what I expected, and I loved it! It felt like women’s fiction with some romance.
Kelsey has a near death experience and ends up sharing a hospital room with Georgina Tate, a very successful business woman. Georgina is less than warm, but that doesn’t deter Kelsey from trying to learn from Georgina, both is being successful and also what leads to regrets. I loved the combination of these two women and it was really fun watching them interact. Their interactions eventually lead to a road trip that changes their lives.
As Kelsey stops and re-evaluates her life and what she wants, usually by saying yes to experiences she would normally say no to, she grows and learns more about herself. Eventually saying yes, leads to saying no, as she figures out who she wants to be.
I loved the grumpy sunshine of these two main characters. I loved the love interests. Really sweet romance. 💕 I loved that this book made me think about my own life and those I love. What do I say yes to and give my time to? When do I hold back to protect myself?
Another wonderful thought provoking masterpiece by Courtney Walsh!
Book review: summer of yes by Courtney Walsh
I got the privilege to read this book as ARC from @netgalley and here’s some of my thoughts of it.
I don’t even know where to begin. I loved it so much! The story was great, telling two different stories in the same time, and how they are linked together.
Sweet, funny and happy story with grumpy and hard back tone.
It’s not all about the romance (even it’s romance book), but more beautiful story of personal growth. Which I can relate so much too.
And of course, my favorites places New York City and little sleepy beach town middle of nowhere!
Recommending 100% to everyone as summer read. 5/5
Another good story by this author. I always enjoy how she weaves her characters together. I can always trust she will write a clean and interesting story. Thanks for the advanced copy.
5 Stars – The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh is a thought-provoking novel. FMC Kelsey Worthington was leaving Starbucks one day in NYC and a car jumped the curb sending her to the hospital. Her hospital roommate is Ms. Georgina Tate (she reminded me of the Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada). Georgina is facing kidney failure and voices her thoughts about some lifetime regrets that get Kelsey thinking she may not want to be solely focused on her career after all. Kelsey and Georgina both have spent a lot of time saying “No, too busy at work” in response to many opportunities in life. So, Kelsey convinces Georgina to spend a summer saying “Yes.”
This is such a good story! The characters are well fleshed out and, while there is romance and banter, it isn’t the only focus of the book. The story has a reader reassessing relationships, work/career, and personal growth. It’s an uplifting story and you will run through a variety of emotions as the story progresses.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction and Courtney Walsh for the ARC. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Wow! This book was incredible. This was my first book by Courtney Walsh and I will be digging into more.
I fell in love with the two main characters, Georgina and Kelsey. I loved their bond and Kelsey’s meddling into Georgina’s business. I read this book quickly because I became instantly attached to the characters and their storyline.
The beachside setting of part of the book was perfect for a summer read and a great addition to this book about family.
I can’t wait to read more titles by this author!!!
I can relate to this in so many ways. I love this book so much. I have loved everything Courtney Walsh has written. It’s always happy and sweet and keeps a smile on my face.
I had to change how I responded to everything once I realized how much I was saying no to all the things . Although for me, it wasn’t to further a career, it was anxieties and fears trying to take hold. So now, if my automatic first response is “no”, I’ll say “yes” because I don’t want my kids to miss out on stuff just because something new makes me nervous. Best decision I have ever made.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction | Thomas Nelson. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~
Courtney Walsh has done it again with her likeable characters, witty yet fun stories. I absolutely loved this book the most. Right in time for the summer and this title, Summer of Yes will be this years hit beachy read for 2024! This author just knows how to grab the reader by their heartstrings. Clean, Romantic sarcastic fun, no spice but everything else that is nice!!
This book was a lot of fun. It was uplifting and had a great message, while also having good banter and some romance in the mix. I loved that it was about two women in different stages of life that become friends and learn from each other how to have a life worth living. It was an easy read that came together nicely at the end. I highly recommend it!
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!
What a delightful read - just in time for summer! I appreciated that this book had some depth while still remaining fun and breezy - definitely lots to contemplate in terms of relationships and how we spend our time. I loved Georgina's character and how her relationships developed throughout the story. I also really loved the romances for both women that added to the story but weren't necessarily the main focus. Highly recommend this one!
I really really loved this book. It’s such a feel good, make you smile and giggle kinda book that’s about changing your perspective and living life to the fullest. The romance as a subplot really hit hard in this book as well!! ❤️ This story reminded me that some of the best things in your life start as some of the most unexpected things. This story is a perfect summer read or even a book to get you out of a slump.
Out of context quote below……
“Don’t wait to love the people you love. We aren’t guaranteed a second chance, we’re only lucky enough to seize one when it comes.” 🥹❤️
This is THE book of summer 2024. I absolutely loved this book and hated that I had to put it down for dealing with other things on my life. Thank you Courtney. You created great characters!
FIVE FREAKING STARS
This was pure magic and utter perfection!!! I have enjoyed Courtney's books in the past, but this was something so incredibly special and in my opinion, in a league of its own!
I highlighted so many sections of this book, and I felt like this was written just for me?! Isn't that always the best feeling? This had major life lessons, wrapped in a sweet, fun, easy to read romcom, but with major depth and even some grit.
Georgina was tough, Kelcy was tougher, wrapped in a sweet package with a newfound outlook on life thanks to a near death experience. Thus begins the Summer of Yes and oh what joy trailed behind these ladies in their convertible. Just pick this up, go in blind, prepare to ache from smiling so hard and cry at the end from the most perfect wrap up to a story. I loved it. I wish it never had to end!
I really enjoyed this one, it's not a easy going rom-com where you're just there for a ride, this books makes you think.
This is my second book by this author. I do like her writing and enjoy her quirky characters, but in both my experiences, her books are not Christian fiction. They are clean but posses no faith and have some new age type elements. Despite those things, they are still a good read. This one especially. It hit me right in the feels. The romance, the regret, the forgiveness.....right in the gut. I laughed, I cried, and cried again. So good. ♥️ Thank you, NetGalley and Thomas Nelson, for the opportunity to read and review this advanced copy.
What a story! Encouraging and uplifting!
I laughed a little, cried a few tears, and found myself thoroughly engrossed in this beautiful story.
Kelsey doesn't know how to say yes - she's afraid, and she has been driven with work.
A close call causes her to re-evaluate, and try to figure out what really matters in life.
Spending time with the ones we love comes out on top, and I found it highly entertaining to watch her take this new direction in her life.

Do I even need to preface this review with my love for Courtney Walsh and her stories she writes? Characters she creates?
The Summer of Yes is a great introduction to summer reading… with a bit of inspiration to say Yes to new things that may come your way!
After a near death experience our main girl Kelsey is wanting to make a change in her life… while in the hospital she is roomies with Georgina Tate… a successful business woman who has some of her own regrets now that she sees the end of her days coming to light. These two come together (Georgina reluctant at first) and decide to spend the summer saying YES!
There’s way more to the story than just that brief synopsis… but I think going into the story and being surprised by what unfolds in these two ladies lives is the fun part. I love when I read a book by Courtney I can hear her author voice within the pages. She tends to always inspires me as a reader with her underlying themes and this one was a beautiful ode to second chances, trying new things and going for what makes you happy!
Like always I feel incredibly grateful to have read an early copy thank you Thomas Nelson Publishing and Courtney Walsh

If you’re looking for a summer beach read then “The Summer of Yes” will be perfect for you. Courtney Walsh has done it again! Normally Women’s fiction is not my cup of tea but the author clearly changed my mind on this particular topic. Kelsey is all sunshine and Georgina Tate is all grump. Their friendship is sweet, witty, and actually kind of sad. The characters undergo growth, awakening, and ultimately have a wonderful ending. This book was clean with sweet kisses. Must read for the summer. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. I love the way that Courtney Walsh can weave a story with a fantastic message and great romance. This was an inspiring book that I am sure will make people look at how they live their life.
Kelsey Worthington’s day wasn’t supposed to start by being hit by a car and waking up in the hospital next to Georgia Tate a legionary NYC businesswoman. Being totally opposites they finally realize that they are both facing regrets in their lives. Kelsey decides that they were both facing regrets in their and devises a plan for the summer to say yes to all the things they haven’t done. So they embark on a journey that will change both of their tremendously.
Thank you to Courtney Walsh and Thomas Nelson Fiction
Courtney Walsh does it again. I have been so happy every time I put down one of her books, sad to put it down but walk away with such a great feeling
I absolutely loved this book! it's an inspiring story of a young woman who meets an older, admired successful woman through a dramatic event that makes them value what is truly important in life. Without being cheesy as a Hallmark movie, it is a story that will probably also inspire the reader to make important decisions in terms of what really matters in life. The writing is light, funny, and overall makes a very fun read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
The "Summer of Yes" title just gives off a vibe of saying "Yes" to reading it. The beginning of this story starts with an accident, which turns into a unlikely meet up of two women, one that is not sure where she wants or needs to be and another who knows where she deserves to be, but with lots of pent up angst and regrets.
Kelsey & Georgina find a commonality, albeit at first they fight it. They wind up together intertwined beginning with a series of answering "Yes" to questions they normally say "No" to, not knowing how much it will change the trajectory of both of their lives.
This book made me literally laugh out loud (few books do that honestly). Most might provoke a smile from a sentence or two but it was just funny especially the analogies! And there was once I literally teared up.
This is a fun, witty, feel good story with real life situations and problems written within all the sunshine parts. As I read this, I couldn't help but think a little (or maybe a lot) of the author was shining through with her own thoughts and feelings, which to me is authentic in it's rarest form and refreshingly fantastic. The writing is a lot of "Yes! Exactly! I've felt that before, but didn't know how to put into words."
A feel good (yep said it again), pull at your heart strings, but oh so fulfilling summer read you need to add to your TBR.
Loved this - it is like "Yes Day" but for romance readers. Let me first say that I have read every book Courtney Walsh has ever written, and I will continue to do so. Forever. She is my go-to for a great romance that tugs the heart strings, but I believe this one might be her best yet! What a wonderful story! An excellent romance by one of the top Christian contemporary authors, but I think anyone regardless of religion would enjoy the sweetness and the simplicity of this well-plotted love story that really is more than just a romance - its about loving yourself, throwing hear and caution to the wind, and living the life you were given like there is no tomorrow. What a wonderful reminder to enjoy each and every day!. I can't wait to own this novel in print.
Loved reading the highly recommended and wonderfully written story. While Kelsey is in the hospital, she shares a room with the famous woman, Georgina Tate, who started her own cosmetics company. Kelsey realizes she hasn't done anything but work, so she begins her journey to say yes to the summer of yes and feels the need to help Georgina into a summer of yes. Read the must read riveting story full of captivating characters and an engaging storyline.
What a wonderful read! I was intrigued by the title as so many things came to mind. I was wrong but in a good way.
We meet Kelsey, who is a workaholic, and something happens to her (no spoiler!) In her recovery, she meets a very famous businesswoman, who is a hyper workaholic for lack of better word. She, Georgina, is facing a serious life crisis and Kelsey is drawn to her even though Georgina pushes her away.
From this, Kelsey decides to live, experience life, and drags Georgina into it whether she likes it or not.
Parts are funny, wise, and also very touching. They have an adventure it will be hard to forget. Parts are romance, but it's more about forgiveness, love, and living your best life.
Yet again, Courtney Walsh never disappoints! I was grateful to receive this advance copy in exchange for an honest review, and honestly: I fell in love!
Georgina might be my favorite of Courtney’s main characters to date. She’s sassy, spunky, a little acerbic, and hiding big feelings behind that tough facade. Being paired up with earnest, determined, optimistic Kelsey in the hospital turned out to be a game-changing moment for them both.
Our story bounced back and forth between Kelsey and Georgina, and I found both voices enjoyable. Courtney develops perfect rom-coms with characters you root for, all the heart, and plots that move steadily to a happy ending. I love rom-coms for a reason, and Courtney is at the top of this game. She creates happy spaces - but with depth and grit- that make reading fun. And isn’t that what it’s all about?
Also: Hayden. Swoon.
This book is about chasing your dreams, finding yourself, and taking chances. And I loved every moment of it.
Thank you to Courtney Walsh for another fantastic and unforgettable story with heroines to root for and leading men to swoon over. Thank you for closed-door, non-steamy (but still plenty romantic!) love stories. Thank you for not focusing on the ugly in life, but the happy. Those of us who read for escapism really love you the most.
And, in a truly ironic twist, I might like Georgina a bit more because I have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and although I’m not in kidney failure, it’s rare to find a story about someone who is. This hit a little closer to home - in a good way!
This one drops July 2; if you love rom-coms, you definitely need to preorder this one now!
Ugh, Courtney did it again…wrote a book that I felt so connected to and absolutely loved! And this was the first time I read a book where I shared a name with the main character, so that added even more love to this one from me!
Kelsey is an assistant editor whose life is disrupted when she is hit by a car while on her way to work. When she wakes up in the hospital, she finds that her roommate is none other than the legendary businesswoman Georgina Tate. But she soon notices that while Georgina is the very definition of success, she seems to be all alone. Kelsey begins to wonder if Georgina has any regrets and if she is looking at her future self if she continues on the workaholic path she is currently on. Or can she find a way to use this ‘Disruptor’ to make some major life changes…and so begins her ‘Summer of Yes’.
Again, I loved this story! I loved that Kelsey challenged herself to be bold, face her fears, and take some risks. I loved that Georgina spoke her mind and didn’t hold back. I love that their chance meeting changes both of their lives for the better and I loved the unique relationship they built along the way…they dynamic between these two was fantastic as it was full of sarcastic banter and also tender moments. Along with their friendship, I fell in love with their journey and their healing. I appreciated the messages of forgiveness and hope “Hope is never a bad thing”, stepping outside of our comfort zone and finding joy in saying yes to things you may not have before “Be fearless, the world needs your voice”, second chances “We all need someone to believe in us”, and finding what truly matters in our lives “After all, it’s the little moments that make a life”.
A huge thank you to Courtney Walsh, Thomas Nelson publishing, and NetGalley for gifting me this e-arc for my hones review.
Out July 2nd, please pick up your own copy of this wonderful story so you can enjoy it as much as I did too!
"The Summer of Yes" by Courtney Walsh stands out as my top read so far this year, despite a roster of fantastic books. While women's fiction isn't typically my genre of choice, Courtney Walsh's previous rom-coms persuaded me to give this one a try.
I expect this novel will have an enduring impact on my life, prompting introspection about everyday decisions and the importance of saying "yes" to spending quality time with loved ones. Walsh masterfully weaves a story that is both relatable and transformative, encouraging readers to embrace life's opportunities with open hearts.
I highly recommend "The Summer of Yes." Courtney Walsh has a remarkable ability to touch hearts, and this book is a testament to her talent. Let her story resonate with you as deeply as it did with me.

A person might say it's fate when two people who are dedicated to their job end up in the same hospital room. Kelsey was it by a car while walking down the sidewalk. When Keelsey sees Georgina Tate, she knows exactly who she is, a woman who owns her own cosmetic company. Kelsey also notices that Georgina is very sick and seems so unhappy even though she is wealthy. Kelsey does some self reflection and decides to take some time off work and say yes to whatever comes her way, and she persuades Georgina to come along for the ride. I loved this book. Maybe it will inspire me to have my own summer of yes.
Just say Yes!
The Summer of Yes is an insightful, funny, sweet story about two women who have regrets about the course of their lives. They end up together in a hospital room, alone and afraid. Together they go on a journey to face their regrets and learn about love, forgiveness and hope. It's a story about life and living it fully and freely. This is a great summer read that may cause you to look at your own life, recognize some things you are saying no to out of fear and give you the courage to say yes! "You will never be happy if you listen to what everyone else says about it. It's what you say about you that matters."
I received a complementary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc! The Summer of Yes was an all-around good time to be had. I enjoyed it thoroughly - the perfect summer, beach read!
I adored this book. It was engaging from beginning to end. At times it was sad and at times it was funny and it was mostly endearing. The characters were likable - even when they weren’t. Growing as a person is hard and it’s always a blessing when we find others on the same life journey who can help us along the way. I loved this about the book. I would highly recommend and am looking forward to more by Courtney Walsh.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
FANTABULOUS!!! Courtney Walsh has firmly secured her place as one of my all-time favorite authors with her exceptional storytelling!! The Summer of Yes truly resonated with me, taking me on an emotional rollercoaster from laughter to tears and everything in between. This sweet, uplifting, and heartwarming story is the perfect feel-good summer getaway! Brimming with fun banter, humor, and tender moments, this story features authentic, relatable characters on a journey of self-discovery. While it leans more towards women's fiction, it still includes a light, sweet romance. It's a clean and wholesome read about love, family, forgiveness, finding joy everyday, living life to the fullest, and saying yes, which can lead to second chances. I absolutely adored this book so much!! 💛🩷💛🩷💛
Synopsis:
A near death experience catapults workaholic junior editor Kelsey Worthington into changing her life-one yes at a time. Kelsey always dreamed of being a writer, but she's settled into a routine of helping others tell their stories as a junior editor. Her relationships are safe, her job is secure, and her existence is stable-and she's great with that. Then an accident happens! While recovering overnight in the hospital, she meets Georgina Tate. Georgina sacrificed everything to become who she is today, but now, with only a handful of months to live, she must face her regrets. Kelsey is inspired by Georgina's story and begins to question her own list of "things I'll do someday." She starts to ask a simple question: What if said yes to all the things I normally say no to? And so, The Yes Plan is born!
In conclusion, I was completely captivated from start to finish! I wholeheartedly recommend and it deserves all the stars!!! 🌟 🌟🌟⭐️🌟
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It took me by surprise. I figured it would simply be about a girl who is going to say "yes" to things all summer. But there was so much more to Kelsey's story than I expected and it spoke to me. I loved the message of believing in yourself, but also what the things are that in the end matter most in life.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thanks to #NetGalley and #ThomasNelsonFiction for my ARC
#TheSummerofYes
Courtney Walsh has done it again with this sweet read that’s perfect for summer! I love her books because they always make me happy. And while there’s romance and heat, there’s no spice.
I loved Kelsey in this book. I feel like she’s very relatable. How many of us wish we weren’t so uptight? (Me, haha!)
And Georgina was the perfect match for Kelsey. I loved how her grumpiness and downright rudeness never got to Kelsey. She stayed kind and funny through it all.
The story did not go how I thought it would—which is good! There were several unpredictable moments that surprised and delighted me. The Summer of Yes is a fun read, but it will make you think about life, yourself and your dreams in a new way.
This is a great book for road trips, beach reading or sitting by the pool. You’ll fall in love with these characters and the great story!
I received a copy of this book through Net Galley. All opinions are my own.
Get it, read it!!
This book was fabulous. I loved it, fast paced and so much fun and so unexpectedly heartfelt! I was tearing up several moments and laughing the next— definitely recommend giving this book a read when it comes out!
Kelsey and Hayden’s story was oh so swoony and sweet and I loved the backdrop of New York City plus a roadtrip to a little coastal town (that I will dream of moving to thank you very much!). All that plus a redemption story that frankly made me cry and a second chance romance for Georgina as well— it was everything I didn’t even expect. Big love for Courtney Walsh’s story here!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I have already been telling all my bookish friends how they need to read this book! It is utter perfection!
A near-death experience causes workaholic Kelsey to reevaluate her priorities and start saying YES to everything she would normally say no to. She brings Georgina Tate -successful businesswoman and curmudgeon - along for her summer of yes. A dash of romance, banter, and this is your perfect summer read!
Kelsey gets a wake-up call in the form of a freak accident, which has her questioning many of her life choices up to now - most especially choosing work over everything else including her relationships. After finding herself sharing a hospital room with the famed Georgina Tate, she wonders if perhaps this is an opportunity in disguise. Throwing caution to the wind, and taking her first vacation since she started working at the publishing company, she cajoles Georgina into taking a road trip with her. Slyly, Kelsey's goal is to reunite Ms. Tate with her estranged son. Will her plan blow up in her face? Will her attempt to meddle in someone else's life actually help Kelsie figure out hers?
This is a fun romance about saying yes to the more important and fulfilling parts of life. A great summer read.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and I felt invested in the story. The characters were so likable even the prickly Georgina.
The story started out with a bang (literally 😂) and held my interest till the end.
This book had humor, romance and lots of heart. Made me think how I would do things differently if I knew my time was very limited.
The Summer of Yes should be on everyone's TBR. The emotions that I felt throughout reading this book were on another level. Just like Kelsey, I am a 32 year old who is going through big changes in regard to career and relationships (getting married at the end of the year!!). Kelsey has said no to too much in her past and given up too much of her true self. A traumatic accident and the meeting of a sassy older woman, has her second guessing everything and saying yes more often. The journey for both Kelsey and Georgina is beautiful in their own ways. I had difficulty putting this book down! Easiest 5 stars I have ever given a book. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you will find little bits of yourself in these characters. Honestly, I found the characters to be so inspiring. We should really say yes to more and live life with less regrets and nos. Thank you so much Courtney and Thomas Nelson Fiction for allowing me to dive into this book early. Bravo, Courtney!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy. I loved this book so much. The idea of saying yes to what is presented, see what you may be missing out on, and knowing you can always make a difference. I did not want this book to end.
Absolutely I say yes to this book! I loved this story so much it resonated so deeply with me. I desperately want it made into a movie so I can watch it all play out again, I saw everything so vividly, beautiful description and feeling. I laughed many times and cried aswell, all the feels. This could possibly be my favourite book of the year, it certainly is at this point.
Thankyou so much Courtney Walsh and Netgallery for the chance to review this ARC
** Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for giving me an ARC in exchange for my honest feedback. These thoughts are entirely my own.**
I've been in a reading slump for a little while, and this was the perfect book to say "Yes!" to in order to get out of it! This book was so good! I was smiling, laughing, and yes, crying as I read.
The characters were so endearing. I cared about them all and their stories, and I could also see some of myself in them. I loved following them all! This book is dual-POV, but the two main characters we follow are distinct enough that I could distinguish between the chapters.
The plot was so fun, too! Yes, it was a little cheesy and a little unrealistic, but I still loved it! It was so cute. There was enough going on to keep me interested, but not so much that I was confused or overwhelmed. There was also a lot of deep material about living your life to the fullest that challenged me. It made me think about what I'm prioritizing in my life and whether I'll be proud of my decisions twenty years from now.
This was such a fun and lighthearted yet poignant book, and I'm so glad I read it! I would definitely recommend it.
This is so much more than a sweet romance. That is a secondary but delightful part of this book. It is a tale of personal growth and self-realization of both of the main characters. Love is important for us all. First, we must love ourselves. This was the first book I have read by this author. I look forward to discovering more. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

THOUGHTS AND THINGS:
I loved this book. As you might already know, I'm a big, big Courtney Walsh fan. I've read every book she's released in the last several years and a few of her backlist as well.
This one lived up to all of my expectations and then some! It's such a beautiful story that's so much more than a summer romance book.
I related so much to Kelsey, the FMC, and loved the unlikely friendship trope.
I laughed out loud. I sobbed. My heart was exploding with love and joy. It's just a wonderful feel-good story that really makes you think about life and if you're really living it.
This book made me want to have my own summer of yes. 🥹

Courtney Walsh crafted a well-written, engaging novel. When Kelsey, a workaholic who says no to everything, gets into an accident, she wakes up in a hospital and encounters an older business woman Georgina who has said no in her life to get to where she is in her career.
Kelsey's accident serves as a catalyst, making her to reevaluate her life and wanting to say yes to more adventures and opportunities that she had declined previously. In doing so, she convinces Georgina to join in her saying yes into doing more things.
I loved the characters Kelsey, Georgina, Dylan, and Hayden, the snarkiness between Kelsey and Georgina, Kelsey finding her voice and true passion, figuring out what really matters, reconciliation, and forgiveness. The Summer of Yes will not disappoint you.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for this ARC of The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh.
This is the perfect summer. Beach read, late night binge read, rainy day nothing to do read, avoiding your house work and responsibilities read, there’s really no reason not to read this book.
Do you ever wonder if you’re just living life for the sake of living? Like there’s something else that you should be doing, could be doing, or want to be doing but just don’t have it in you to take that leap. What would it take for you to say yes? Yes to a new job, yes to that new relationship, yes to just stepping out of your comfort zone, or yes to picking yourself . For Kelsey, that was an accident that almost took her life. In a split second her entire world changed and after waking up in the hospital she slowly began to realize she needed to make some changes in her life. With unexpectedly thrown into a situation where she was sharing a hospital room with a famous Georgina Tate. an iconic woman who built her way to the top. One rung at a time despite all odds. A woman who seemingly had it all until she didn’t. What’s the price of being everything you want in life?
Kelsey and Georgina couldn’t be two different women. While their goals seem to align their lives would have never if it hadn’t been for Kelsey getting hit by that car. When Kelsey realizes that Georgina is very sick and seemingly has nothing in her life, it makes her reflect on her own self. Kelsey realizes she doesn’t want to end up like Georgina after all, and decides to start the summer of yes! Kelsey forces Georgina to participate and the most outlandish chain of events, eating street food, taking road trips, and ultimately reuniting with her long lost family and finding love again. There’s no time to say no to life anymore. While Kelsey‘s pushing for all of these things for Georgina she continues to struggle with accepting them for herself.
The Summer of Yes is an amazingly captivating book. It was so hard to put down because Walsh pulls you in with every page. If you’re looking for a romance novel and a cute summer read, this is the novel for you. I don’t enjoy books that are overly sexual, that have scenes that are steamy, or use graphic descriptions for displays of affection. If you are a reader that feels the same way, then this is the book for you. Walsh gets her point across without using harsh language, overtly sexual scenes, and other tactics that some writers believe need to be used when writing romance. I highly recommend this book make it to your summer must read list. Just Say Yes! (And buy the book)

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Courtney Walsh has done it again! I absolutely loved the relationship between Kelsey and Georgina Tate - honestly the entire book could have just been about these two and I would have adored everything about it. But of course Courtney did us one better my introducing a few extra characters in the mix. You will love Georgina's assistant JP and enjoy even the little relationship between him and Kelsey. But the icing on the cake are Georgina's family members that you'll get to know. You will love this book!
Such a cute book!! I loved this story. The main character was darling and just the whole concept was so fun! A super cute summer read.
This book! This story brings all the feels, all the swoon, all the hope, and all the heart. I just adored every single character and everything about their stories intertwining. Fresh starts, friendship, forgiveness, choosing the right priorities, loving people well, and laughs along the way.
One day Kelsey wakes up in the hospital and learns a car jumped the curb and hit her. That event turns out to be a major life interrupter. Before the accident she was a workaholic with a clear career goal. Her life wasn't exciting or fulfilling but it was safe and calculated. But post accident she is realizing that if she doesn't change her ways she may end up at the end of her life full of regret.
Part of this shift of perspective comes from her hospital roommate Georgina. Georgina Tate is an iconic business woman who has risen to the top in a truly inspiring manner. But she's sick in the hospital with a pair of failing kidneys with no one but her assistant showing up for her.
Kelsey feels compelled to not only make sure she doesn't live with regrets, but convincing Georgina to join her on a Summer of Yes. But Kelsey has more up her sleeve than just fun adventures, she wants to reunite Georgina with her estranged family.
And when Georgina's son and not so ex-husband enter the picture, the Summer of Yes gains much more gravity than anyone expects
_____
What a fun ride! This is not the book I expected, but I still enjoyed it so much.
This book has two big themes that I think played out so well.
1. Saying yes, i.e. living without regret. As someone who likes to stay on the "safe" side of life...
2. Forgiveness. The power of forgiveness in this book will make you feel all the feelings.
For readers who go into this thinking it's a pure rom com you might not love the first half, but if you think of it more as women's fiction with a rom com storyline you will not be disappointed! You will get your butterflies over flirty lines (x2), but you don't want to miss the set up because it makes it that much sweeter!
_____
This is a women's fiction book with a side of closed door, kisses only rom com.
Thanks to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the gifted book. Coming out on July 2nd!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I keep thinking I’ll find a Courtney Walsh book that won’t “wow” me, but it has yet to happen. Every book I read of hers leaves me wanting to read another one soon after. The Summer of Yes fits that bill.
Quite honestly, I was a tad nervous at the beginning because I was having a hard time picking it up. The story was good but not captivating me. Then, 30 percent into the story, BAM! I was absolutely hooked and found myself ignoring household chores so I could keep reading.
The two main female characters could not be more different (generationally and emotionally, just to name two) and I found myself genuinely curious how their friendship would pan out. Then add in some travel and romance and I was all in!
Every Walsh book is centered around real-life topics where the main characters learn a life lesson, along with the readers. And yet these novels don’t depress me in the least because Walsh has a way of crafting engaging stories with an excellent of seriousness, humor, and lightness. The word that kept coming to mind as I read this one was REDEMPTION, and now that I think about Walsh’s works as a whole, ALL of her books have this element to them.
Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Courtney Walsh I was able to read and ARC of this novel.
This was not my first Courtney Walsh novel and it will not be my last. Courtney has such a way with words and forming stories that takes readers on an adventure and carries meanings that can be heavy or hard hitting for some.
This novel is about two women named Kelsey and Georgina who meet in the most unlikely of ways. Throughout the course of a summer they find out the true meaning of friendship and also the two go on an adventure of a lifetime.
This novel was a very fun and engaging read. I loved the character development, the setting and events. There was nothing about this novel that was unenjoyable! I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of roadtrips, second chances, dual POV and also heartwarming beach reads.
100% my favorite @courtneywalsh book!!!! I’m a huge fan of her books, so I feel as though that’s saying a lot!
When Kelsey has a near-death experience, her views on life and everything she thought she wanted begin to change. This is where the summer of yes enters! I loved the idea of saying yes to things you normally wouldn’t so much. I absolutely loved all of the characters and the different roles that they played. The development of Georgina was perfection. The ending was done so well and left my heart bursting with happiness. I also really enjoyed the fact that a lot of it took place in North Carolina. The mention of the wild horses was fun - we vacation on the Outer Banks every summer and they will show up at our house!
I definitely recommend reading this one! I will be having my own summer of yes for sure!!
By now, you all know my love for Courtney Walsh and everything she writes - obviously, her latest is no exception!
THE SUMMER OF YES is more in the vein of her last summer release, THE HAPPY LIFE OF ISADORA BENTLEY - heavier on the women’s fiction, with a side of romance 🥰 Walsh takes on life’s choices and regrets, you will find yourself wanting to say YES!! I love when a book’s theme translates so easily into your own life, and this one had me doing some major thinking…
Can’t forget the romance - it’s sugary sweet, a bit forbidden, and has a golden retriever hero 😍 But, the real star relationship is between Kelsey and Georgina. Their hilarious banter and unlikely friendship was so heartwarming 🩷
Just loved this book "The Summer of Yes" by Courtney Walsh. This is everything I've come to expect from a book by Courtney and I saved this one to read once it felt like summer here in Wisconsin where I live. This is a perfect summer beach read - and yes there are some fun scenes at the beach/ocean that are just wonderful.
The main character Kelsey ends up in the hospital after being hit by a car while leaving a Starbucks getting her boss a coffee. She wakes up later in the hospital, lucky to be alive with an older, grouchy lady Georgina as her roommate. She instantly knows who Georgina is - a savvy businesswoman who is famous and someone many women look up to that want to be successful in NYC. Both women have a lot in common but as Kelsey looks at her life and sees where Georgina is at - her way of thinking starts to change.
Kelsey convinces Georgina who she can tell has many regrets in life to participate with her in "A Summer of Yes" where they do things they'd normally say no to like eating street food, going on a boat and a road trip. This book is so incredibly good and gives a nod to what I loved in Walsh's "Happy Life of Isadora Bentley." If you loved that book, this one should definitely be on your TBR. Five stars without hesitation. I just couldn't put this one down.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
This was my first Courtney Walsh book and it will definitely not be my last. I loved this story. At one point, I did think would this really happen, but then I switched my brain to fiction mode. The main themes of friendship and second chances on life were what kept me so into this book. Forgiveness, commitment and unconditional love was written beautifully. This book made me think about my
life and how much time I may have left on this earth. This is a book I will remember for a long time! Now I need an actual copy of this book for my shelves!
Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy of this book and giving me the opportunity to review it.
All the stars for this book! I loved loved loved it!! Kelsey Worthington was an overworked, underappreciated, junior editor who rarely ventured out of her comfort zone. One pivotal day, Kelsey gets hit by a rogue car outside of a Starbucks and finds herself sharing a hospital room with Georgina Tate, a legendary, extremely successful businesswoman who is very ill. Kelsey’s near death experience, combined with insights from Georgina’s life choices, leads Kelsey and a reluctant Georgina on a path to embrace life to the fullest, one yes at a time!
This book was a delight the whole way through. It was an interesting story of regret, forgiveness, found family, romance, and friendship. As someone who has also sacrificed a lot over the years for my career, it also made me really step back to reexamine my own life choices- to prioritize the relationships closest to me and to inject more fun, more “yes” into my life.
Highly recommend.! This was my first Courtney Walsh novel but I plan to read the rest as soon as possible!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for such a wonderful book and the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy.
I love Courtny Walsh for the realistic layers in the stories, relationships and in the characters she creates. I liked the story for the self reflection and growth of each of the main characters. I thought the plot was unique for having the dual pov of the older and younger women. I loved the humor infused throughout the dialogue and story admist hard things. I really appreciate the ability to write a story that feels relatable and infuses a real life vibe to it. Always such good conversations between the characters. Overall, I thought the writing was creative! I enjoyed the flashes and few mentions into theater which I know the authour also is a part of in real life. This book had a solid foundation in all the components that make up a good book. I felt I was kept in suspense to how everything would come about. I very much enjoyed myself while reading this. There were highs and lows like a wonderful roller-coaster.
Content: clean romance, no language, no fade out intimacy, no very detailed or passionate kissing
Yes, yes, YES! Like Courtney Walsh’s characters in The Summer of Yes, I’m saying ‘yes’ to this gem of a book. I loved everything about it and will promptly be reading her backlist of other books. Highly recommended! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy.
I wasn’t sure what to think as I started this book. It seemed like a plot that may not hold my interest. Wow was I wrong! I started reading and couldn’t put it down. I found that I impatiently wanted to see how everything would work out, but also felt sad that it was time to say goodbye to characters I had grown to consider as friends. I struggle with goal setting, people pleasing and moving out of my comfort zone. This story made me laugh, think and encouraged me to say YES to some things I wouldn’t normally (within reason of course. ;-))
I absolutely loved everything about this book. I loved the characters. I loved the storyline. I loved the message and the romance. Just so good. Absolutely a new favorite!!
I adored this book! It was perfect for starting the summer. I related so much to the main character, her fears and questions. I loved the inspiration to say "yes" to whatever came her way and try new things- a mindset that encouraged me to do more. I loved the human stubbornness, quick wit, the banter, and the sweet redemptions that happened. Great read!
Kelsey wakes up in the hospital after having been hit by a car that ran up onto the sidewalk where she was walking back to work after a break. Soon after she wakes up, another woman is placed in her hospital room--making constant demands. After Kelsey is recovered enough to be released, she comes back to visit her roommate and to make a proposal to get the roommate out into the world again. After a conversation with her mother, Kelsey realizes that she says No to nearly everything. Her mother thinks her accident was a disruptor meant to show Kelsey a better way to live, so she decides to say Yes to things she wouldn't normally do.
Her roommate is Georgina Tate, a beauty products mogul worth a ton of money, but her health is failing and she seems to like her reclusiveness. When Kelsey asks Georgina if she had regrets, Georgina doesn't answer her but a sad look crosses her face and quickly disappears. Still Kelsey sees the look and convinces Georgina to join her on her "Summer of Yes" adventure. The adventure allows Georgina to reconnect with family and Kelsey to find out what she really wants out of life.
This book is a quick read because the action encourages the reader to keep on going. It's the kind of book that needs to be read before summer actually starts because it will encourage readers to enjoin their own Summer of Yes and to take on new adventures, to pay attention to life's disruptions, and to find themselves for who they truly are.
This is one of the best books by Courtney Walsh that I have read. Kelsey is as irrepressible as Georgina is recalcitrant. Their personalities clash at every turn, but mutual respect is earned and a friendship is ultimately formed. This is a five-star book with two thumbs up and a road trip in a 1965 Mustang.
Thomas Nelson Fiction provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
This book was a breath of fresh air! A wonderfully funny, clever book. Enjoyable and complex characters, with real problems and challenges to overcome. I was hooked from the beginning and enjoyed every word of this incredible book!! This author’s writing is superb, her cultural references are relatable and hilarious, and the main characters have a great arc.
Please excuse me while I go read every book this author has ever written! 🥰
Things I loved: no spicy scenes (only kissing), Christian values communicated well without being preachy, themes of forgiveness, love, and restoration.
This book was so cute. I loved the message and the idea of hoping for things and not just living life because we have to but really living it. I loved the romance and the relationship building. This book was a perfect summer read. I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! Courtney Walsh is a favorite of mine, and she did not disappoint with this one. It was so profound, and I ate it up! Perfect summer read!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for the gifted book!
If you say YES to anything this summer, say YES to reading this book!
I absolutely loved this book and can't think of one negative thing to say if I wanted to. Absolutely the happy and feel-good story I needed!
When Kelsey wakes up in a hospital after a car accident that she doesn't remember, she is (not warmly) greeted by her hospital roommate, Georgina. Against all odds and against Georgina's will, the two of them strike up a plan to have a summer of saying YES where they have previously said no to adventure, opportunities, dates, etc. etc.
Along the way they learn a lot about themselves & each other, find (or re-find) love, friendship, purpose, and ultimately a second chance at life!
I absolutely loved the progression of watching Kelsey and Georgina go from having nothing in common to sharing....well, you'll just have to read it to find out what they share in the end!
This story is light and happy and will be the perfect beach read this summer!
Read if you enjoy:
- Unlikely friendships
- Second chance romances

I think this is Courtney's best book to date and I can't wait to read what she writes next!
10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
2024 book of the SUMMER! WOW! What a ride.
This was my first Courtney Walsh book & it didn’t disappoint at all. In fact, I’ll probably go and read ALL her books now.
This story made me laugh, cry, laugh and again and cry. It was full of banter, love, a mean old lady and a determined MC. Kelsey's growth throughout the book was inspiring. I felt like I knew her personally. Georgina, the other main character, was my favorite-grumpy but wonderfully feisty.
The themes of forgiveness and grace were beautifully integrated.
Seriously, you’ll want to read this book when it comes out. You are gonna love it!
Thank you NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a fun read! I laughed out loud so many times. It’s not that there was a lack of depth or complexity- The Summer of Yes has it all! I had just finished two heavy reads so picking this one up was like a breath of fresh air! Kelsey faced a near death experience, and it makes her rethink everything, including taking no for an answer. While avoiding her own life, Kelsey takes it upon herself to help fiercely independent beauty icon, Georgina Tate, face her biggest regret. This biggest regret also happens to involve a beach town and a remarkably charming son 😜 The unlikely duo had me smiling, chuckling, and reflecting on my own life throughout the whole book! It’s an adventure of finding yourself, forgiveness, second chances and sweet romance.
I love when you just FEEL…. just KNOW…. that a novel you’re reading will have a joyous happy dance with your golden five stars! Warm up your pre-order finger, go to your retailer, and tap or click to GET. THIS. BOOK. it releases July 2, 2024.
Kelsey is a young workaholic wanting to prove herself in the publishing world, but she has her own writing dreams on hold, possibly even evaporating. A terrible accident and a cantankerous old woman, who becomes her hospital roommate, cause her to take stock of her life. She admires Georgina Tate, her business acumen and many successes, but now she knows her secret. She’s lonely. She’s unhappy. She’s dying. Is this where Kelsey’s own young life is headed?
Kelsey challenges Georgina to join her in a summer of saying YES. Not no. Not maybe. Not later. With great reluctance, and a whole lot of sarcasm and sourness, Georgina grudging agrees. Sort of.
Kelsey hides her agenda to reunite Georgina with her estranged son, Hayden, who happens to be incredibly attractive. Let’s just say that it isn’t rainbows and puppy dog tails. In the meantime, Kelsey and Hayden are drawn to one another and truly enjoy each other’s company. A surprising turn of events occurs that causes everyone to re-evaluate and re-think about what truly matters. Is it grudges? Mistakes? Selfishness? Monetary and business success? Time? Distance? Does any of that matter or is it about speaking from the heart, being honest, letting our pride down, and being vulnerable and brave enough to say YES to the life and path you truly want?
This novel will poke you whether you can relate to one of the characters or not. It WILL make you a little uncomfortable and squirm in your seat. And it should. This is not just a great book with fabulous snark, humour, and romance. It has a lot of important things to say. You have to say yes and figure out what it is meant to teach YOU.
I loved this book. It is a perfect book for summer and treating yourself to a can’t-put-down book. The characters are fun and you are pulled into their orbit without warning. Good story, good writing, and an overall feel-good book.
Beautiful & heartwarming! Courtney Walsh gives us a feel-good, second chance story with a little bit of a love story in between! It was so good! Grab this book for your beach bag/pool bag this summer!!
Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own!!
Courtney Walsh has just written perhaps her best book yet! Loved everything about this beautiful story, especially the dual-narration of two women with completely different lives, leaning how to say yes. Five giant stars, wish I could give ten!
I listened and had the ebook for this book and I really enjoyed that. This story is such a good one and honestly my favorite by Courtney Walsh! I binged this book and can’t wait for everyone to read it!
went on a great adventure with this cast who have both strong character and character flaws! It makes me stop and reflect on my own strengths and weaknesses. Who else cries "good tears" at happy moments like a reunion or forgiveness shown? I was barely into this book, and I got teary! I think kindness is underrated, but this book shows how important it is. Mixed with a forgiving heart, it shows no grudges held. Mercy.
There are serious topics covered and a lot of light-hearted fun, but it's an amazing book with wonderful characters and two love stories! I think this is my favorite book by Courtney Walsh!
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed are my own.
Say yes to The Summer of Yes! Courtney Walsh has written another of my favorite books! She must be reading my mind because she knows how to write the exact book that I need to read to make me happy! The Summer of Yes made me very, very happy!
How many of us avoid doing stuff that we know would be fun, but we’re either too busy or too afraid? I’d be in that group. Kelsey Worthington was in that group too…until she’s hit by a car…on the sidewalk!! Then she wakes up in the hospital, and a cranky older woman is wheeled into her room. The woman wants her own room! She’s got money, darn it! But since no rooms are available Kelsey gains a roommate. Enter Georgina Tate, businesswoman extraordinaire and grouchy roommate. Before Kelsey leaves the hospital, she asks Georgina if all of the sacrifices she made were worth it and finds that Georgina has regrets…especially now that her kidneys are failing.
Kelsey miraculously convinces Georgina to join her in a summer of yes…saying yes to things they’d normally say no to. Within reason. What follows is an amazing journey in an amazing novel! The road trip isn’t in itself the journey. The real journey begins when they reach their destination…one Kelsey hasn’t clued Georgina in on…one that leads to her estranged son.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I adored The Summer of Yes! The characters are brilliantly written. It’s funny and charming and heartbreaking and uplifting all at once. I cried my eyes out, and I laughed too! It’s about forgiveness and accepting forgiveness! It’s got new friendships and romances. It’s about forging ahead even when you’re scared. It’s saying yes instead of no. It’s wonderful! I highly recommend it!!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Thank you for the early read for an honest review!
I’ll start by saying I loved this book. Kelsey’s life takes a turn when she’s walking on a sidewalk and is hit by a car. She’s admitted to the hospital where her roommate is Georgina Tate, a well-known business woman. These two would appear to have nothing in common, but Kelsey enlists Georgina’s help to accomplish her summer of yes. These two end up sharing a lot of experiences (mostly fun, but some heavy) and end up having life changing impacts on each other. Read this book; you won’t be disappointed!
