Description

Warnings: this edition is a closed door version suitable for PG-13 audiences. All explicit scenes have been removed and/or altered. Please note that the book does still contain violence and sexual implications.

A modernized Hawaiian mythology-inspired fairy tale of a Sea Nymph and the Prince of the Atlantic.

There was once a sea witch with powers that rivaled Poseidon himself.

When she challenged him for his throne, he killed her, and her magic was locked away in a nautilus shell lost in the dark ocean depths.

Sought after by many, none had the power to wield it.

Until now.

Villains are not born. They're made.

Anela is a 26-year-old sea nymph in Hawai'i. Still nursing a broken heart from a former flame, she keeps others at an arm's length away so no one can hurt her again. Her life is turned upside down when her mother brings home a man brought to the Hawaiian Islands by raging storm, whose presence in the Pacific angers the shark gods, but pleases her younger sister, Malia. Hi'iaka, her mother, insists on protecting him from them and Anela is determined to find out why.

Triton is a 28-year-old prince of the Atlantic Ocean. Charming and handsome, yet arrogant and self-serving, he only really has one goal on his mind: get back home by any means necessary. When his plan goes south and someone is severely hurt, he reconsiders that he may be stuck as a land dweller forever. Forced to be in the company of beings he hates most, he has to stop playing life like a game before someone gets killed.

Advance Praise

When you think of an archetypal villain what comes to mind for you? Evil, ruthless, rotten to the core? Ralynn Kimie redefines what a "villain" looks like in this fascinating narrative. The story takes place in a world filled with magical creatures, curses, and rivalries. As the two protagonists struggle to understand themselves, lines are blurred between good and evil, right and wrong.

Tantalizing romance, hidden magic, sibling rivalry...this book is literally FILLED with action and intrigue from start to finish. Saying that I fell in love with the characters would be an understatement. Kimie is so talented at crafting characters that are so realistic you forget that they are fictional.

Another thing I loved about this book was the author's attention to detail; her vivid descriptions paint a world where sirens, shark boys, and deities seem completely normal. Kimie's creativity is inspiring, and I always love traversing her fictional worlds.

This is a book that you don't want to miss!!

I originally had the pleasure of beta reading this book and wanted to read the closed door version the second time around. I love that Ralynn Kimie decided to release a closed door version of this book as well as the open door because it opens the story up to more readers! I usually don't enjoy books that are too heavy on the smut, and while the open door isn't overly descriptive, this one was definitely better suited for me. I think people will really fall in love with this story and Anela's struggles and hardships as she tries to do what's right. It's such a beautifully woven tale about how one person's growth can be another's spiral. I love that this was written in dual POV between Anela and Triton, with a few third POV for us to keep up with other important characters that play vital parts in this book. I hope it reaches a broad audience! It's such a great book and I hope Ralynn Kimie decides to write more villain origin books in the future!

This book looks so interesting! I live everything that has has a TLM or underwater life vibe and it's almost like a prequel of both Triton and Ursula. I absolutely cannot wait to share more thoughts on this and bring this one to readers. I also like that it was altered to keep things clean
