Description

After being ditched at the altar, Emmy Shaw’s heart, like her dented food truck, is definitely not open for business. Deeply in debt to her parents and evicted from her apartment, she takes a friend’s drunken dare and fills out an application for a new dating-adventure reality show. She never expects to be chosen—or to get a chance at the show’s huge cash prize, which could put her life back on track.

But when she’s abandoned in the middle of the jungle two months later wearing only a bathing suit and a backpack, she questions if being on the show might be even worse than the #emmytrashtruck hate brigade she left back home. Then she meets her fellow cast members—including sexy, inscrutable Wes—and starts to reconsider, wondering if maybe money’s not all she stands to gain from this experience.

After a year of abysmal failures, this summer of cave treks, jungle hikes, impromptu talent shows, and a sexy flirtmance turns out to be just the thing to help Emmy rebuild her shattered confidence. She signed up for the show to hide from the mess her life had become, but this escape from reality might be just what she needs to find herself.

I absolutely adored this book! It was the perfect kick off to summer; a goofy, fun, swoon-worthy escape that had me cheering and rooting for all of the characters, especially Emmy!

The reality tv pretense was so much fun - it combined my guilty tv pleasure with my guilty chick-lit pleasure in a way that was fresh and intriguing. But it was great that the book broke some of the reality tv stereotypes and gave substance to the characters, paving a way for a possibility of a lasting love story.

Emmy was a great protagonist- she’s a little bit flawed, but smart and strong and relatable. I love how she sees the good in everyone! The other host of characters were (at first) a little hard to keep track of, but I feel like that reflected the experience of reality tv shows when there are just so many people you have to get to know them a bit before they become memorable. In the end, they had become real people to me and I was surprised by some of them that I had misjudged early on.

I have already been recommending this one to my sisters, coworkers, and book nerd friends. It’s one of my new favorite summer romances.

I haven’t read a book that made me laugh out loud so much in a long time. Emmy was such a lovable disaster. She was so easy to relate to and I found myself rooting for her from the beginning. The author could have easily made her have a petty side throughout the competition, especially since she was so unlike the other girls. But Emmy’s kindness and willingness to just go with the flow made the book for me. I’m not a big fan of reality romance shows because of the pettiness, but Keyes managed to balance the crazy reality side with a storyline that was truly heartwarming.

If you like reality dating shows, adventure, forced proximity and romantic comedies, this book is for you.

Big Wild Love Adventure by Julianna Keyes was a super cute and entertaining rom-com!
The writing kept me engaged, making it difficult to put down.
I loved the plot and the storytelling and how it developed through the book.
I'd 100% recommended reading this book once it’s released.
I’m looking forward to reading more of Keyes previous titles.

This book was such a good time. I would compare it to a mix of Bridesmaids and Survivor. I loved the slow burn romance that kept me guessing for a good portion of the book. This has so many tropes I love. Fake Dating, Forced Proximity, Slow Burn, Friends to Lovers, Summer Romance, Love Triangle, and I’m sure more I’ve missed. It truly has it all and I loved every minute of my time reading this book. I will definitely be keeping my eye on this new to me author in the future.

Absolutely adored this read. As someone who loves the bachelor and other reality garb like naked and afraid, this book covered all my bases.

I really enjoyed the FMC, her story and her incredible perseverance with anything thrown at her.
All the side characters were also very cute, each with their own personality. Each character really helped breathe a lot of life into this book.

This story was more fluff than it was spice, and frankly, with the plot and games being so interesting and who the main character is, I didn’t feel like I was craving it.

Overall Big Wild Love Adventure was witty, well rounded and had great details. The plot twist kept me on my toes. I felt as if I was in the jungle playing along with the cast. Will be recommending this to all of my bookish friends!
