Description

On the 8th of March 1944, Lieutenant James Keeffe was forced to bail out of his stricken B-24 bomber over Papendrecht, Holland. Thus began an incredible journey. With the help of the Dutch Resistance, he played an elaborate shell game with the Nazis, moving freely amongst them within a network of safe houses. After several attempts to return to England, "to get back into the war," Lt. Keeffe was betrayed, taken prisoner and transported under armed guard to the infamous German prisoner-of-war Stalag Luft III - site of the Great Escape.
