Description

Snake and Lizard live together in a burrow in the desert. They are such good friends that Lizard decides to display their names above the burrow entrance.

But three small words can cause trouble between friends.

They must decide whose name should appear first. Then Lizard makes an unfortunate spelling mistake—he thinks it’s very funny but Snake is not laughing. Snake finds some spelling of her own that will teach Lizard a lesson!

The friends eventually find a way to put the argument behind them in this funny picture book that holds a mirror to our human flaws and reminds us that names and nicknames must be used with care.

Snake and Lizard live together in a burrow in the desert. They are such good friends that Lizard decides to display their names above the burrow entrance.

But three small words can cause trouble...

Snake and Lizard is a story about two friends who are sometimes "Friends" and other times are just "friends". I like the way the author used the capital and lower case "f" to show how their friendship went through changes. I think that will help young children understand that their friendships will go through trials and may change over time, but that's normal and they can overcome it if they stick together.

I think that young children will also enjoy the characters in this book. I thought it was fun that the main characters were a snake and a lizard and that they WEREN'T villains. I also enjoyed that the snake character didn't have the best eyesight as this seems to be true to real snakes. The side characters were fun additions to the story as well.

Overall, I thought this was a fun story with a great message that elementary age readers will enjoy!

This was a cute story. Snake and Lizard come up with a great idea to put their names up outside their home but learn a valuable lesson when the letters are rearranged to spell out unkind words.
This is fun because kids can see how easy it is to change words by moving letters around, but also how important it is to be considerate of your friends' feelings.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

Misunderstandings come quick and often in frienships. This is a fun story that illustrates such understanding with impressive art and an entertaining narrative.
