Description

All bets are off when a single-minded photographer and a professional hockey player are forced to spend a week together on his sister’s Christmas tree farm, perfect for fans of Jenny Holiday and Maggie Knox.

Maisie Smart doesn’t look back. Not on the choice she made to be a photographer, and not on the one-night stand she had six months ago. But sleeping with a professional hockey player who bolted the morning after is a whole new level of embarrassing. Now she’s about to spend the week at Tickle Tree Farms with her family this Christmas—and then the universe throws a Grinch in her festive plans.

Nick King is a mess. After a significant injury benches him, he has more time to dwell on his anxieties and the one-night stand he can’t get out of his head. With the holidays around the corner, he figures visiting his sister and nephew at their Christmas tree farm will be a good way to sort himself out. That’s impossible when he learns Maisie is there, still beautiful and justifiably angry about the way he left. But Christmas is the time for second chances, and the forced proximity may help Nick and Maisie unwrap feelings neither of them can walk away from twice.

I don’t think you can go wrong with a Sophie Sullivan book. Am I right?

This book was adorable, start to finish. I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance, and who doesn’t love Christmas?

Maisie and Nick were perfect. I liked how the main conflict wasn’t simply an initial lack of communication or a one night stand. There was more to it and the characters communicate throughout the novel their intentions.

Nick’s characters has anxiety, and I loved how the mental health issue was portrayed. I suffer from anxiety, and there are times I think other authors overplay or underplay it. This was more realistic. He was trigger by certain events and the way he and the other characters handled it was perfect.

I appreciated that the Christmas element wasn’t too wild. This was you can enjoy the novel through the year.

The side characters were just as lovable as Maisie and Nick. There weren’t too many so I didn’t get confused. It was the perfect blend.

I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!

Thank you, St. Martin's Press, for my ARC.

You Make It Feel Like Christmas by Sophie Sullivan may be my favorite book from her yet! I'm a sucker for a hockey romance so this was fun to read Maisie and Nick's story. They were supportive of each other and had healthy communication. I appreciate Sophie having a more physical romance on the page, but the actual sex part is off the page. I would still consider this a closed-door or fade-to-black romance, but it adds to the story. Nick does swear in this book, but it didn't bother me one bit. Both Nick and Maisie felt authentic. I wish they were my friends in real life. This is a standalone book, but I'm glad I read Lexi and Will's story, Can't Help Falling in Love, because they are important characters in this book. We need to talk about how Asher, Nick's four-year-old nephew, absolutely stole my heart! He made me laugh every time he was in a scene!

Read this book if you enjoy:
-Hockey Romance (MC is on the IR from a knee injury)
-Photography FMC
-Christmas tree farm setting in Washington
-3rd person alternating POV
-Seattle setting
-Closed door (no sex on the page but alluded to)
-Mental health rep
-No third-act breakup
-Adorable 4-year-old nephew who steals the show!

Thank you, Sophie, for writing another delightful romance!

4.5/5

I love a Christmas romance - even in the summer - so was super excited to read this one early! I really enjoyed Lexi’s story and loved Masie’s.

The first half of the book did a great job playing up the tension between Masie and Nick (who had a perfect one night stand and then he left). It was filled with holiday spirit and the joys of having the family together at the holidays. I enjoyed the character development.

Cannot wait for the next book! Thanks for the ARC!

Sophie Sullivan is a must-read author for me, and You Make it Feel like Christmas doesn't disappoint! Maisie and Nick had a one-night stand six months ago and now they are both spending Christmas at the same Christmas Tree Farm. I love that this story connects with two of Sullivan's other books. All the characters in You Make it Feel like Christmas are fantastic; I especially liked Nick's 4-year-old nephew. I will definitely be reading this one again at Christmas. Fans of Sarah Adams and Falon Ballard will enjoy this book.

This hockey Christmas romance was perfection. It had the perfect amount of plot mixed with spicy. Nick and Maisie are adorable and fun to get to know. This book is the perfect cozy read to enjoy while snuggling under blankets near a fire. I loved it and can’t wait to recommend it to friends.

Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC. Opinions are my own.

I am usually not the type of person who reads a hockey romance story. But because this was by Sophie Sullivan, I made an exception. I’m so glad I did.

Not only because I love her writing, and that heartfelt connection which she does so well. But this had hardly anything to do with hockey. Amen.

What this was about was a reconnection of two people who met one explosive night, and meeting again under very interesting circumstances for Christmas makes your heart full.

Sullivan tells a story with beautiful descriptions and intense situations that show compassion, growing love, emotion, and straight-up romance. She knows how to put the romance into a heartfelt story.

She truly has developed the perfect couple. What I love the most is was there was no third act demolition of their feelings and connection.

This was a beautifully written, clean, romantic story that honestly left my heart happy. I loved it so much, and this is why I love Sullivan’s stories.

I just finished reading this book. The plot was absolutely fantastic! It was quite the page turner, and I could not put the book down once I began reading it. I can't wait for it to be released. I will recommend it to everyone I know!

There’s something about the way this story blends holiday warmth with unresolved chemistry that made it impossible to look away. There’s banter, longing, vulnerability; all the stuff that makes a second-chance romance feel earned. The setting was so full of atmosphere I could practically smell the pine needles and hot cocoa. And the emotional arcs hit exactly where they needed to. It’s the kind of holiday romance I’ll keep thinking about long after the lights come down. Heartfelt, a little messy, and completely worth falling for.

Sophie, every book you write, I love just a little bit more than the last! This book was the perfect mix of real and romance. The issues Maisie and Nick face are things most people will relate to in their own lives. I love seeing more modern books opening up and having characters deal with anxiety, while the character works through it it's educational and helpful to see how you can get help in reality; and I was cracking up when Maisie called him out on it. Maisie learning to stand up for herself and work through what she needed as a daughter and a woman was also great to see, a woman doesn't just need a man for happiness, she needs to love herself and learn she deserves the respect from everyone in her life, even if it's hard. At the end of this, I'm so proud of these characters, which is probably a weird thing to feel, but I was rooting for them!

I'm so glad I got this one on NetGalley early, and kindaaaa want to know if we're going to see Ethan's story soon?

Sophie Sullivan writes romances that feel like a warm hug or a really good cup of tea on a rainy day. I know that when I finish one of her books I’ll have a smile on my face, a new book boyfriend, and another fictional small town I’d love to visit. All that holds true for You Make it Feel like Christmas and, bonus, I finally say I read a hockey romance.
