Description
Mistakenly holding up the coach of the man who broke her heart is bad enough, but having to endure his sinfully alluring company all the way to Scotland is Daisy Hamilton’s worst nightmare . . . and her most secret desire.
A midnight mishap.
Daisy Hamilton’s new mission for King & Co., London's premier private investigation firm, is simple: stop heiress Violetta Brand from eloping. But her case is derailed when she mistakenly holds up the carriage of Lucien Vaughan, Duke of Cranford—cynical war hero, infamous libertine, and the very man who broke her heart five years ago.
A reluctant road trip.
Lucien’s determined to see his lovestruck nephew married to Miss Brand, but the unexpected appearance of Daisy— the one woman he’s never been able to forget—could ruin his plans. As they follow the runaway couple together, Lucien decides that delaying the headstrong Daisy by any means possible—including seduction—will be his absolute pleasure . . . and hers.
A dangerous desire.
After Daisy’s reputation is threatened, Lucien makes a scandalous claim, but when an unexpected enemy threatens her life, he realizes she’s the only woman for him. Their past encounters have made Daisy almost as jaded about love as Lucien himself, and it’s going to take action, not words, to convince this knife-wielding hellion to risk her heart on him again...

An addictively sexy romp of a road trip! Kate Bateman outdoes herself again! I loved every book in this series, but this one was by far my favorite. I devoured it in a day. The chemistry just bubbled off the page.
Daisy is the third member of the female detective agency and a duke's daughter. Lucien Vaughn is a scarred war hero, a duke (of course) and the Rogue mentioned in the title. Most of all, they are both incredibly kind people and easy to cheer for. After secretly pining for each other for five years, they meet again when highwaymen attack Vaughn's coach. Daisy intervenes thinking the coach belongs to an eloping couple she is meant to stop and instead finds the smoldering Vaughn. Oh, the banter! Oh, the sexual tension! No one writes it like Bateman.
They decide to team up to track the couple. She's after the reward money and he's got a secret agenda of his own and also wants to keep her safe. That leads to a road trip of many one-room inns and one-horse rides, a dramatic rescue, and of course help from the other couples in the series to achieve a HEA. This just hit the spot for me. It was compelling, entertaining and wickedly spicy. If someone wanted to make millions of dollars they would adapt these books into a miniseries. There is woefully not enough spicy or sweet historical romance to watch in the world.

This book was deliciously messy in all the right ways. I live for a second-chance romance where the yearning practically crackles off the page, and Daisy and Lucien? They had it in spades. She’s sharp, stubborn, and armed with a knife, and he’s broody and infuriating in that very specific historical-romance-duke way that makes you want to scream into a pillow. Their banter was razor-edged, the tension was mouthwatering, and the slow-burn payoff was everything. The road trip setup added such a fun, chaotic energy, and I loved how it balanced the swoony moments with real emotional grit. I could read ten more books just about these two circling each other forever.

A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Road Trip With a Rogue by Kate Bateman
Road Trip With a Rogue was such a refreshing and delightful escape! Kate Bateman blends humor, adventure, and romance perfectly in this third installment of Her Majesty’s Rebels. From the very first page, I was hooked by the witty banter and the vibrant chemistry between the leads.
What I loved most was the unique blend of a historical setting with the fun, unpredictable spirit of a road trip—yes, a proper journey full of mishaps, growing trust, and moments of real connection. The heroine’s fierce independence paired with the rogue’s charming audacity made for a dynamic duo I couldn’t help but root for. Their journey wasn’t just about the miles they traveled, but the emotional walls they broke down along the way.
Kate Bateman’s writing is witty and engaging, filled with sharp dialogue and heartwarming moments that made me laugh and swoon in equal measure. The pacing felt just right, balancing action, romance, and character growth seamlessly.
If you’re craving a romance that combines adventure, clever humor, and a dash of rebellion, Road Trip With a Rogue is a fantastic choice. It’s a book that left me smiling and eager to dive into more of Bateman’s world.

Dorothea, aka, Daisy Hamilton has a simple mission: to thwart an elopement, bring back Violet to her father, and get paid. Yet when the carriage she thought belonged to her quarry is ambushed by highwaymen, she steps in to help, she doesn’t expect to meet the occupant of the carriage would be her brother’s most despised friend.
Lucien’s mission is simple: follow his nephew to ensure that he marries Violet. Yet he doesn’t expect the woman disguised as a lad would be his long-desired and best friend’s sister, Daisy.
They both have to proceed and succeed on their pursuit, but will they be able to keep their sexual desire separate from their mission?
With a blend of action and romance, this book has simultaneously engaged and brought me to a fun, compelling read with so much passion and longing. Daisy’s characters didn’t disappoint at all: she is stubborn, determined, loyal, and merciful, what’s more is her skill at wielding her three knives. She won’t back down without a fight, that’s what I loved about her. Oh and Lucien, his teasing and knowing smile always put me on the edge while reading. He embodies all the qualities I look for in a duke.
The swift action and engrossing plot, coupled with two characters who can no longer contain their sexual tension, make this book a wonderful read.

Daisy Hamilton is on a mission to stop an elopement but instead of stopping the couple’s carriage, she holds up the carriage of Lucien Vaughan, Duke of Cranford, her brothers’ best friend and her former crush. Lucien agrees to accompany Daisy on her journey north and the pair find themselves in increasingly tighter quarters as they travel. The pair have long been attracted to one another so sharing a bed can only lead to one thing. Neither is willing to admit their feelings for one another but a chance encounter with London’s most notorious gossip threatens to force their hand.
This book is exactly what I love in a historical romance. I love road trips and forced proximity and messy backgrounds and both people thinking their love is unrequited, so I had a marvelous time. I loved both Daisy and Lucien and the fact that they were able to be their true selves around one another. Also, can I just say that I love this cover so much. I’ve enjoyed all three books in the Her Majesty’s Rebels series and look forward to whatever Kate writes next.
