Description

Welcome to Bleak Haven: The town you won't (or can't!) leave... Deep fake murders have taken over the high school, but what happens when they start to become real?

Would you Swipe to Die?

When the new craze takes over Bleak Haven High, Ava Wilson refuses to join in. As the niece of an infamous murderer, it’s the last thing she needs.

The mysterious website allows people to view their own ‘death’ – an AI generated version of their final slasher-movie-moments. But, when some of her classmates’ deepfakes are replicated in real life, Ava can either catch the killer…or be the next victim.

I was hooked from the very beginning and could not put it down! The only time I did was because it got late and the book was starting to scare me 😅.

These are my favorite type of horror where it’s real life (no magical aspects to make it work) and it truly felt like we were battling to stay alive and solve who is doing the killings before they strike again.

Would you Swipe to Die? In a world full of AI what happens when Deep Fakes take it a step too far? And what happens if now the murders these deep fakes showed are coming true? And does this mean the town is in for its next serial killer?

Now excuse me while I go read the second one.

If you're looking for a classic slasher, with a little twist featuring A1, this book, Dead Fake, is for you. This book is also book 1 in this series. The twists and turns this book took were so good and had me hooked! Thank goodness I already have book two and can start to read it soon. Great for the spooky season.

Thank you, NetGalley, and St.Martin Press for the ebook in exchange for honest review.

Loved this! Fans of classic slasher genre will devour this one. Tight plot, all the classic twists are here, genuine fun horror reading. No graphic gore, so more creepy than queasy.

My Thoughts

Bleak Haven High students who sign up for the App Swipe to Die are one and all enjoying the gory AI generated deaths that are created for each user.

That holds true until several of their classmates are actually killed.

Ava Wilson, like everyone else is horrified, unlike others though she sees certain clues the killer left behind and starts her own investigation into the deaths.

Like the fictional character Nancy Drew, Ava connects the dots that are missed by the police when they investigate but even then she never saw the truth about the person behind the game or the murders until nearly end of this story.

A mystery thriller that had an interesting premise and a main character who I enjoyed getting to spend time with as her story unfolded.

My second book by this author offers readers like myself a chance to dive into the “deep end of the pool” and see who “sinks or swims.”

Or in this case who lives or dies and why.

This book was SO GOOD! I was drawn in by the cover but from the very beginning to the end I was hooked on this story.

If given the opportunity to see how you die, would you swipe? It’s just an innocent website right?

This story not only broke my book slump but it delivered on all the spooky vibes that I have been trying to get elsewhere.

Now, could someone PLEASE approve me for book 2, Night Terror. 🙏🏼

Have you ever discovered a new app and couldn't wait to try it out? I couldn't put this one down! Once I was in, I was in it for the long haul! This is a story about a teen whose uncle did bad things. The entire town is convinced of this, but this teen doesn't believe it for a minute. Is she love blind? Does she not want to see what he really did? Read this and find out for yourselves! You won't be disappointed! This is a harrowing story of a teen who goes looking for answers about her past, while also trying to protect her friends and family from pure evil that seems to find her in this town.

I can't wait for more from this author! I think hes a great writer! This is wonderfully written.

Dead Fake by Vincent Ralph kicks off the Bleak Haven series with a gripping YA thriller. Ava Wilson, tied to a killer’s legacy, faces a deadly deepfake trend at Bleak Haven High where virtual deaths become real. Ralph blends slasher vibes with social media commentary, delivering twists and suspense. Ideal for Fear Street fans, this fast-paced read keeps you hooked.
