What a book! It was so interesting reading solitude journey. Her incredible tale all around the world. The things she’s experienced and the things she’s seen. I couldn’t put this one down! So inspiring

I really enjoyed this book — the pace is great and it’s a real page-turner. Lootie is so inspiring; she ran for 697 days across the world, averaging 40km a day. She navigated all sorts of terrain, as well as the challenges of the pandemic.

As I was reading, I found myself wondering why she wasn’t mentioning any injuries after all that running. But as I read on, it all became clear. Around 79% in, her running philosophy reminded me of a book I’ve read called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall — and lo and behold, she mentions it at 80%!

Lootie has such a positive mindset and prepared and trained appropriately. She experiences her runs through all five senses, and I loved how she talks about looking forward to the opportunities and surprises along the way to a new destination.

I also really enjoyed the historical and cultural insights, as well as the nature and background she weaves throughout the memoir. And the kindness of strangers really stood out.

I especially appreciated the section at the back of the book detailing the journey in numbers — a lovely touch. Amazing book and I fully recommend. I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and and this is my honest review.
